the music sucks too much these days to get the interest of MTV? oh no, wait, we still have skazi!
-
it's tricky, cause people use simular musical sequences all the time in certain genres. It probably allready happened several times people come up with almost identical melodies accidentally.

i'd say 15-20 € is a decent price for most of them. some are worth more like the TIP CD's place them on ebay with: SUPER RARE EARLY GOATRANCE CD ASTRAL SUPER RARE EARLY GOATRANCE CD ASTRAL UNRLSD TIP RARE EARLY ALBUM GOATRANCE that will raise the price with some € to 20, 25. nubs will bid for sure.

Is it legal to use a midi from an existing track or voice-sample from a movie? Cause when you use a midi, it's a bunch of notes (aka melody), but not a track your stealing. Off course, using a midi is lame and wrong but is it legal/illegal by copyright law?

isn't Twisted the second album? the lone deranger was first? or am i walking in a different dimension again.

Mute the background music in a movie sample
Daniël replied to Ormion's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
First of all , it all depends on the volume & behaviour of the background sound, it's difficult to tell if it would work and which technique you should use. Don't count on a good result if the background is louder or equally loud as the sample you want to extract. And you'll always damage the sample. The trick is to minimalise that damage. for these kind of problems i would recommend to use adobe audition. Search some tutorials fro adobe audition on the net, i'm sure you'll find something usefull. If the background is a repetitive tone you can use audition's noise removement. It's a great tool, i use it all the time to clean up outdoor recordings. You select a "noise" (the empty parts of the recording) and then adobe audition automatically deletes all the frequencies of the noise so the noise sound is gone. It only works with repetitive sounds. -
I bought a CD yesterday, and It reminds me of sega music when i listen. Anyway, i searched the net and it's a genre i didn't know was ever so big. I knew of synthmusic, but synthspace/italo disco was new for me. It's not worldshocking, but you should check it out if you're intrests go beyond 5 years of music. I bought it because i want to have a CD colllection of all electronic genres and this is my finest buy in months. Spacesynth, synthdance, spacedance, spacedisco or whatever you want to call it is instrumental upbeat synth music that focuses on melodies instead of rhythm. Driving basslines, catchy synth riffs, sci-fi influences and futuristic track titles and album covers have always been a major part of spacesynth. Spacesynth originated in the mid 80's. At that time synthesizers and electronic sounds had become an essential part of popular music and were widely used by such artists as Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk and Art of Noise. Synthpop hits like Magnetic Fields 2, Pulstar and Magic Fly are well known tracks even today. In the meantime in Italy a music style called Italo disco was dominating discos. Basically Italo Disco consists of rather simple vocals, melodic synth riffs and a four-to-floor beat. It had that recognizable 80's disco sound that people either love or hate these days. Italo disco became popular in other parts of Europe too. At first spacesynth was just an instrumental version of Italo Disco focusing on the synth side of Italo Disco. But eventually it became a genre of its own. Cyber People released successful singles "Polaris" and "Void Vision" for the Memory Records label. Koto developed his own Italo-inspired synth music style and the single "Visitors" was a big hit in 1985. Soon after there were other similar groups - also outside of Italy. Erik van Vliet from The Netherlands established Laserdance and together with Michiel van der Kuy Laserdance became the most successful spacesynth group ever. Their debut album "Future Generation" (1987) sold approximately 150 000 copies and the singles "Powerrun" and "Humanoid Invasion" were big hits in Europe. Koto and Laserdance could be considered the most popular spacesynth groups. They set the standards of the genre and since the golden era of spacesynth many producers have tried to replicate that sound. In the early 90's spacesynth started to lose its popularity and almost completely vanished during the 90's when eurodance, house, techno and its subgenres were dominating electronic music charts. Spacesynth was nearly forgotten until it showed some signs of recovering towards the end of the 90s. Now there's growing interest in spacesynth again as 80's melodic sound is getting more popular. During the last few years Hypersound Productions and Alpha Centauri (formerly known as AXIS Records) have released a numerous of spacesynth albums from many new artists. It will be interesting to see and hear how this music is going to evolve. Time will tell. samples: laserdance- Vast emptiness Anders Lundqvist SOURCE freemusic

arkaos can easily be foujnd on "not-so-legal-circuits".... resolumé also available on not-so-legal-blablabla Luvid union Do not crack this shit or the VJ ghosts will haunt you, try the demo, fall in love and buy it. robotfunk flowmotion Don't crack it cause this was programmed by a VJ/software developer. He knows what's best. This is the shit if you have a good computer. Try the demo, fall in love, and buy it. There are some really innovative ideas in this piece of software. The allmight derivative inc. Touch designer Bow to the ground before you start this software and send me a PM if you find a crack. It's way better then all other software available but costs 1500 usd.

Most common software is arkaos & resolume. the best mixers i have are LIVID union & flowmotion. But all of those above are just Videomixers with build-in FX. only in livid & flowmotion you can tweak or program you're own FX. arkaos is the software you'll need it you are a total n00b, but it's very limited. So you'll have to use other software to make the video's . compress them in the best codecs( i trust microsoft video 1 best, some mixers are Divx compatible, some not etc etc, in general DviX in VJ sofware is a really bad idea, cpu can't decmpress that fast, using no compression is best for CPU & framerate) good tools to make some video's: sony DVCam ( note for the real noobs: it's a camera ) sony vegas video Zbrush 2 (recommended!!!!, cannot animate but you can create 3D figures like virtual clay and export into 3Dmax, maya or lightwave) photoshop illustrator adobe premiere adobe afterFX (recommended)) 3Dstudio max maya lightwave macromedia flash ultrafractal Bryce VUE DAZstudio Boris FX plugin for adobe premiere & afterFX afterburn plugin for 3dmax to create explosions. RAM optimizer (very important for live VJ ) effectslab DV A good but very expensive package that has mixer & composer in one is TOUCH designer, but it's very expensive and you won't find a cracked version. AVID( only reads/writes mpeg, very good tool, best software available, but only used in professional situations, you'll need the whole studio before it gets interesting, otherwise, stay away from it, it's a bitch on a home PC use premiere as a good alternative or finalcut if you have mac) AVID XSI that's about all i can remember right now!

I don't agree at all actually. The CD is allready sold once, the artist or label isn't the owner anymore. letting people pay because they sell something they bought years back is called "Ripping off" in my dictionary. If an artist wants to make some money out of rare old CD's he should keep some copies when the CD is released and sell them himself all those years later. I'm sure alot of artists still got some spare copies of old stuff which are worth alot. That's where they can get their old skool bonus..

The first completed track by me (Solar Storm)
Daniël replied to snowball's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
The easiest VST is Vanguard. First learn to work with vangaurd and it will be easier to understand other VST's later on. + vanguard is used alot in goatrance & psytrance. Could be most popular VST, just geussing. The korg VST's are good too. legacycell kicks ass. novation V-station & bass-station albino3, but it takes a while before you get something decent out of it that's not a preset. -
