I always find it interesting how people listen to music differently. If I have a playlist, it is a playlist of full albums or compilations and I want to listen to each album as a whole, even if it's selected randomly from the list, but what I don't want is to listen to random tracks from my playlists.
-
I listen to some old goa / psy albums now and then, but I mostly compile releases by artists I like or a special feeling or sound in the music. I don't listen to Halluncinogen's album Twisted, I listen to his tracks from that era with the Twisted sound. I never listen to Spotify's AI generated playlist, I listen to my carefully curated playlists. 😁 I spend a lot of time digging through music and compiling playlists. I find the first Tarsis album to be mostly great, but their other albums are bland. This summer I listened to all their albums and compiled their good tracks (released after their debut) and now I have another great Tarsis album.

08/09 SHPONGLE - Codex 6 Premiere Party
Trolsk replied to Elixir Events's topic in Party Announcement
My memory says that his stage fright got worse and he didn't enjoy touring anymore, but a year or so later, he found an American girlfriend, and now he's back touring. Something like that. I believe there's a Facebook post or two, with the details. - Yesterday

08/09 SHPONGLE - Codex 6 Premiere Party
acid being replied to Elixir Events's topic in Party Announcement
I thought Simon said he was retiring from touring. Looks like he hasn't yet though. https://twistedmusic.com/tour/ No idea about Tokyo though. I can't believe that the only one who responded to my Dubsahara comment was a bot selling kitchen knives! I will write that review, one day... -
We need to evolve along with the times. We live in a digital age, we need to accept that: Digitally I just bought: Framework - The Anthemic Collection And the following from Liquid Sound Design It's a wrap 2024 Lammas Blessings Lá Fhéile Brid V2 Nothing is available on CD and honestly I would just rip it ASAP anyway

08/09 SHPONGLE - Codex 6 Premiere Party
abasio replied to Elixir Events's topic in Party Announcement
Can't believe this was 8 years ago I am not a huge fan of how the Shpongle sound has evolved over the years but I would still appreciate a Shpongle party in my neighborhood: are there any plans to come to Tokyo in the near future? -
Well, here's a short list. Mark "Drezz" "Nervasystem" Dressler found a few copies of 13 Amp Fusion. I think I've bought all his albums one by one since his 2013 comeback. Now I ended up filling this gap too. These are sold "as new", and at the moment of writing some are still available on Bandcamp. Get one if you want one. For some reason I thought this was one of the CD only purchases (like some other old stock sales) so I just ripped it. In fact, it came with a download and apparently I have that one too. Oh well, now I can confirm that they indeed look and work like new...

Global psytrance scene meltdown?
abasio replied to CyclotronMajesty's topic in Cultural / Spiritual zone
So many years have not tempered the insanity that is @CyclotronMajesty Every single post you ever made just dripped with conspiracy theorist "logic" and honestly was never anything I could take seriously. I always saw your posts as someone who just took too many drugs and completely fucked up their own mind. Seeing this post just makes me sad, not for you, because you have always been this insane, but for all the people that were brought over to your insanity during COVID. "Fake Vaccines" "Mask Hysteria" buzz words for the idiots. I live in Japan, everyone was really quick to mask up during COVID, and the vaccine take up was near 100%, the result was very few COVID deaths, yet the countries that resisted putting a bit of cloth over your mouth because it was so painful (fucking pussies) and distrusted the vaccine had 100s of 1000s of deaths. It's people like you @CyclotronMajestythat killed 100s of others. You should feel ashamed of yourself but I can guarantee that such scumbags like you will never ever dare feel like you were in the wrong and will never ever come to understand just how much pain and suffering you brought to the world -
Do you not listen to Astral Projection albums or just not albums in general? I almost exclusively listen to albums. Even if I create a playlist, it's a playlist of albums. I never got into Spotify because I never liked just random track after random track. AI has a loooooooong way to go before it can make a coherent DJ mix.

What music are you listening to right now?
abasio replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
This again -
All top notch complications, but for whatever reason they do not hit quite as hard for me, and stay in such constant rotation, as the others I mentioned. Except "Beyond Colour" I actually don't have this compilation 🫨

30 CDs Compilation! It’s not a Hallucination 🙃
abasio replied to GS Concept's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
This does look like a drool fest of awesomeness, for sure, but way out of my price range. Possibly, when all 30 have been released, I might be tempted by the full discography on bandcamp as everything there does in fact look really good. I yearn for my formative years when I had disposable income to spend on things that I want 😂 -
While not a fact, I think the fact that he called one of his albums 604 is a clear indication that GOA was a big influence for him. I for one can definitely hear the influences in his work and for me, he is the definition of GOA's transition into a more progressive style. His tracks on FRR straddle the GOA/Prog boundary.

Damn, there's some massive backlog again. I find boxes of received discs that I've semi-forgotten for assorted reasons. This time I won't even try to create a mega-list of them all but instead post in any convenient chunks which I can mark as sorted. In this batch there's Andrew Heath. I suspect I got The Silent Cartographer when it was just released in 2014, then Flux from somewhere. Then there was a break. Then there were good offers so I've been following the trail of his solo albums on Disco Gecko: Europa Soundings Evenfall The Alchemist's Muse New Eden Scapa Flow The Cloud Machine (OK, this one is whitelabrecs, not Disco Gecko.) These have their very own character. To be honest, I'd probably struggle to name any specific song or even an album by hearing it, but that's kind of the point. There are moments when I don't really want to hear music as in banging tracks or catchy tunes but simply some kind of ambience made of musical elements, and that's what one can find here. Real ambient music. Now I have a proper playlist of these and I may end up visiting it many times when those moments hit.

I loved, still love Suntrip, but over the years I have had to be very picky with what I pay so much money for (Why aren't education, health and general child rearing free?) For a while I bought everything and, to be secretly honest, I have been waiting for their bandcamp digital discography at 70% off to be worth it for me. I own so much of their early catalogue, but none of their recent releases, so at the moment 70% off is only like 30% off, but the more they release, the more I don't have and the better this deal becomes. Just a waiting game...

Was this not a known thing? Atmos was on quite a lot of Flying Rhino Records releases. Even if his style was leaning towards the Goa Prog style, it was definitely steeped in Goa, and his early stuff like this shows that.

The original 20 minutes I heard was 7:26 and the extended version is 20 minutes 😮 Very nice as usual from CBL, would prefer a bit more, but I'll always get what I can get from them

Well doesn't this look absolutely delicious? Genetic, Hallucinogen, Bamboo Forest, Total Eclipse, Jaia, Atmos..... $14 is a bit much for my budget these days with the awful exchange rate for yen, but thanks to Bandcamp I can still give this a full listen and see if it'd worth 2 grand
