Psytrance in movies

Ever notice how in every party scene theres always psytrance or goa running in the background?

its not bad psy at all, although it does sound kind of undefined.

Why is this so different from the real world? I never walk in to a random party/club and hear the good stuff

How do they even think of it when so many people have no idea about psytrance?

Tbh no.

I don't recall any movies with psytrance/goa music in the background. Maybe sometimes the music is close to goa (acid techno etc.), but psy no.

Care to write some examples?

yeah, acid is probably more what it is. it's hard to hear as its mostly just a few seconds.

I was watching Curb Your Enthusiasm right now: S03E08 13:30 :)

The point is, in real life i never hear anything even close to acid sounds.

Matrix is an exception because Juno & Stephen Holweck were specifically asked to write a part of the score if I remember well.

But that's right you have Psytrance tracks or famous acidtrance tracks in several movies. There's already a topic about that if you search.

I suspect this is because Psytrance is still very appreciated in California's "intelligentsia" and probabaly many Art Directors in LA participate to Psy parties, know the Psy scene and promoters, and tend to propose Psytrance when it comes to choosing a track in a party scene.

To that regard, I'm not surprised GMS has 4 tracks in the Man on Fire OST: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0328107/soundtrack

Check the bio of Wayan Blue, one of Spun Records' managers, you'll see chat I mean: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Wayan+Blue

No doubt he knew some of the movie's (sound)production team members.

other than juno reactor's matrix tracks i cant think of any movies ive seen that have psytrance in the soundtrack other than "once upon a time in mexico" which had some remix of that juno reactor track pistolero. i definitely want to check out zohan and man on fire now though!

however, in the british teen drama show 'skins' theres an episode where the characters go to a club and there is very definitely psytrance in the background; and in another episode the characters talk about going to tribe of frog in bristol.

They did the some of the filming for that episode at a Tribe of Frog night, apparently. Anyway that mention on Skins is one of the reasons why ToF attracts a larger and younger crowd on average than most other regular psyparties I've been to in the UK recently, and good for them as I can think of no better way to introduce new people to the music and the scene than at a party whose heart is definitely in the right place, and who put so much care and effort into their decor and programming.

From my experience just about every movie I see with a club scene or whatever, its always super commercial club trance garbage.

And I always think to myself "I wish these movies would put some good music in the club/party scenes - this movie would be so much better"

But alas you always get Tiesto or Van Buuren or whatever is on mtv at the time.

Sad...

I am from Holland and I'm personally sorry for that music!

Huh...I watched that series not long ago and don't remember anything jumping out at me like "hey, it's psy!"

this is acid, not psy, but the opening scene in Blade is definately one to remember:

:)

or that one scene from Human Traffic when they go to a badass club and that black dude is getting paranoid about his gf:

although my personal preference definately goes to that gay club scene from Irreversible (one of the most twisted movies I've ever seen). BTW this particular track was made by none other than Thomas Bangalter, member of Daft Punk! I never thought the dude had it in him lol

This source doesn't say so

Ahh that's more convincing :P

What I meant was that the clip was not an actual part of the movie (hence not a good example/"proof"). I don't remember hearing it during scenes, is it in the actual movie or at the credits?!

One of the worst (if not the worst) films I've ever seen. DO NOT WATCH IT.
