  1. This album has been on repeat for the last 2 weeks since I've had. Soooo smooth and just an absolutely gorgeous listen from start to finish. Listen to this on a good pair of headphones and it feels like your just being wrapped up in layers of sound. And the progression in each of the tracks is just perfect!! Stands along side Perfect Stranger's Free Cloud as the best album of 2008. 9.5/10 Favourite tracks: 1, 3, 4 (!), 5 (!). 8 (!!)
  2. The next shpongle album :drama:
  3. For those that are interested FSOL are playing live at 2 festivals this summer: Bestival and Green Man. I caught em doing their first live set in 12 years at bloc earlier this year and it was absolutely epic (best visuals ever!!), although not quite as mindblowing as shpongle's latest live gig I have to admit.
  4. You still need to catch em live mate, their sets can get pretty damn intense!! :posford: Even though there's only one of them doing the live sets now i still reckon they are one of the very, very best live acts of the whole scene. I remember the crowd after their last set at glade was just stood there not sure what to do with themselves after being so gobsmacked at what the static had just put everyone through
  5. I am going to see their first live show in 12 years in 2 days :posford: :posford: and yeah, def agree with others, all their stuff is good. but make sure you check dead cities, their best album IMO
  6. merv's put up three new eat static tunes on his myspace for you all to have a listen to here Only planet is absolutely awesome!! heard him play this at the last gig he played and it caused some serious dancefloor destruction! :posford: The others are cool too, I have a feeling their 20th anniversary album this year is going to be gooooooood
  7. Also a massive aronofsky fan, love all his flicks. Went to see the wrestler the other day and it definately lives up to his other films. Mickey Rourke is absolutely fantastic, best performance I've seen all year. Would definately recommend that you catch this flick before it goes off the screen!
  8. Oh Yes!! :posford: :posford: Who shall be making the trip again (or for the first time)?? I'm there They're also headlining Ozora with their live show this year. Not sure I can scrape the pennies together for that tho, even if the line up is somewhat mindblowing...
  9. Speaking of Posford, any brits coming to this party in april: Alpha Omega - London Exceedingly tasty line up: Hallucinogen, Green Nuns, Vibrasphere, DJ Slater, Earthling....
  10. I absolutely love fluke. They're just one of those bands that exuberate coolness. And their music rocks too, especially when played VERY LOUD! Would have loved to have caught them live back when they were still together...
  11. They've had 5 albums since then!! Their two artist albums Morning Sci Fi and I choose noise which are both ace but quite a bit darker than the blissful wide angle. And their 3 remix albums: remix and additional production by, y4k and hybrid soundsystem which are also all very good!

  13. Wicked, cheers guys!! Liking what i've heard a lot Finally got my hands on atmos' new one, veeeery nice!! Gonna check the dub stuff next. The event looks like it's gonna be really cool. We're gonna be showing baraka and koyaanisquatsi and maybe a scanner darkly on a massive projector on the wall and have a wii with mario kart and a stall selling tea and cakes for charity. All in all a stoner's paradise really
  14. Haltya: Book of nature Perfect Stranger: Free Cloud and a definate +1 to the Kino Oko recommendation
  15. I haven't seen it yet but I've heard from friends that have that it's pretty damn accurate and that their only complaint was that it was a bit too accurate (ie it felt more like reading a history book than watching a film). Hardly a bad criticism though considering how lousy most biopics are. I definately intend to watch them both
  16. Hallo all, I need to turn to psynew's musical knowledge for some recommendations again I'm DJing next week for an event that's supposed to be showing off green technology (ie the whole thing is powered from green power generators), but the only thing is is that its during the day so i can't really go blasting some full on dance music. So we were thinking of making what's normally a club/bar into a massive chill out space with some comfy sofas, cool art work, silent movies playing etc . Shud be fun, but now i'm trying to figure out what to play... I was thinking of going for some nice and groovy, melodic mid tempo stuff with a light dose of psychedelia. It can be from any genre (dub, progressive, chill out etc). Basically anything with a nice groove that you can chill to but also with a bit of energy to put you in a good mood, and even make you dance if you want to Here's a few examples off the top of my head of the type of tunes im looking for: Pitch Black (more like this please!): Freefall, elements turn, south of line, 1000 mile drift OTT: Solstice rmx, escape from tulse hill, cley hill Vibrasphere: Sweet september, lemon phase, time shifter Younger Brother: All i want, sleepwalker Trentemoller: Nightwalker Ovnimoon: Sandal Water Red Seal: Forces of creation, supernatural, machine gun tommy Atmos: KNS, Transmission in vein Kino Oko: Made in satisfaction, mother mature Doof: Last half of forever, sk2k The Orb: little fluffy clouds, towers of dub Sankyou in advance

  19. Does anyone know the name the of the system 7 track that comes in at around 4.20 on ? One of my favourites by them from the live sets i've heard them play but don't have it in my collection!!
  20. Noisia are amazing producers. definately recommended here too, their new album is ace! I feel i should recommend some psybreaks artists (term used quite loosely) as these guys have been rocking my playlists at the moment: Far too loud (ridiculously amazing group, everyone should check them (their latest release all is machine isn't quite up their usual standards though...) Hedflux (only 4 tunes to their name but all stunning, especially Gun club) Rex Robosapiens (check new world order, wicked tune!) Plastic Shell Introspective Beta Digitalis InDepth (great debut album disappear here, def worth checking) and Mood Deluxe of course

    Baraka

Another one of my all time favourites. People on psynews have good taste in movies Also as a side note, I seem to remember some of the VJs at universo paralello making awesome psy visuals from parts of this movie. Worked really well IMO
  22. Brilliant film, one of my favourites That wasn't michael gondry, it was by a french director!! Maybe you are thinking of eternal sunshine of the spotless mind? Both are amazing anyway
  23. Will Ferrell = black humour??!! Not in my books it certainly doesn't!! I'm definately one of those that fall into the hate category. If you want an AMAZING british comedy drama to watch then I can't give a higher recommendation than Withnail and I. One of my favourite films about two washed up, alcoholic actors who go on a crazy trip to the countryside for a week.
