  1. Couldn't agree more! Sometimes I feel there is more room and more of a wide open feeling being created to let the psychedelic aspect do it's work.
  2. So what do you guys think of the offbeat sound? It's a upcoming style in progressive trance music, originally started in Hamburg, Germany. These days it's getting featured a lot more in compilations and labels that only focus on this sound. I notice that I'm listening to this kind of stuff more and more. It's tight, catchy and a lot of times just as entrancing as other electronic music. Not to forget, very addicting. Here's some examples of great offbeat tracks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjLlIu58uHM Some good artists: Vaishiyas, Day Din, DJ Fabio & Benni Moon, Nok, Hanzo, Xshade, Interactive Noise, Rubix, Kopel, Symphonix, Audiomatic, Klopfgeister, Jiser, Time In Motion, Odiseo. Labels: Spin Twist Records, Blue Tunes Records. Any recommendations?
  3. I listen a lot to the artist you mention, really good stuff. I'm all about the melodies as well, especially Vibrasphere is just magic when it comes to that. Some stuff has already been mentioned, like Lyctum, Protonica and the Christiania Selections. Other stuff I can highly recommend (some of it can also be from 2011): Yotopia & Sphera - Focal Point EP Yotopia & Sphera - Focal Point Remixed Synesthetic - Into The Vibe EP Synesthetic - Addicted To Music Vertex - Spliff Science Motion Drive - Recycled Ecliptic - On A Ledge EP Xshade & Loopstep - Double Reaction EP Egorythmia Remixes EP E-Clip - Troublemaker EP Aho - Ancient Tribes Naes - Behind The Shadows EP XV Killist & Rocco - Fantasy Single Unseen Dimensions - Airglow EP Reverse - Reverse EP Vertical Mode - Lazer Shot EP Compilations: Progressive Classics vol. 1 Carrots and Stick vol. 2 Selection 2011 (Iono Music) Future Nature vol. 2 Beach Atmosphere Progressive Love Artificial Elements Eternal Symphony I've been listening to so much progressive the last years and I think this is the best I came across for 2012. Enjoy.
  4. Don't know the track, but they play a lot of full on there, I know that. But I don't come across many people on this site that go to ruigoord! I used to go to trance orient express all the time, not a bit less. But I love that place, always such a positive attitude in ruigoord.
  5. I agree with Sideffect. Progressive works best for a crows like this. You don't have to loose touch with the psychedelic aspect of things, yet it will still be very special for a mainstream crowd. The flow of some tracks is just priceless and will get to people even if they don't like psytrance that much.I have some friends who are not much in to psytrance but like house music and such. They can really dig progressive. I wouldn't go to clubby, but I wouldn't go to chaotic in the music either. A balance in songs is just good. Try artist such as: Motion Drive, Lish, Time In Motion, Synesthetic, Yotopia, Protonica, Human Element, Liquid Soul, Osher etc. Later on in the night when things go well, you can go a little further with some morning full on. Try some Vertical Mode, Zen Mechanics, Sonic Species and Ital tracks for this. I would leave it at progressive and full-on. Dark psytrance is just to much in my opinion.
  6. Artist: Yotopia Title: Master Key Label: Plusquam Records Date: 28-09-2012 Style: Progressive Trance Tracklist: 1. Yotopia - Master Key 2. Yotopia - Master Key (Time In Motion Remix) 3. Yotopia - Master Key (Rocky Remix) Lately I'm enjoying a lot of Yotopia tracks. There album Connect The Dots was a good piece of work and so are a lot of other tracks spread out on different compilations. Now it's time for Master Key. The original starts of like a lot of there tracks. They make you feel the beat until you have a good grip on it. Once that job has been completed, they use there skill to make everything more playful and bouncy. Still they are not forgetting to take you on a little trance-trip, great stuff. I must say, I was expecting them to go all the way after that wide open break near the end. Other than that I can't complain. Time In Motion delivered a lot of master tracks themselves over the last years. This remix is another good one. It's already smashing from the start and you can feel this track taking more and more shape as is goes along. Well done. The Rocky remix isn't my favorite. Somehow it lacks of groove to me. Halfway the song he picks the groove back up, but shortly after that I can't help but think this remix isn't really going anywhere. I don't know, it's like theres not much of a story to tell. I have heard some good stuff from Rocky, but this isn't his best work. Overall this is a nice remix EP. Even though I heard better tracks from all artist involved, I can't say I didn't drift of listening to the first 2 tracks. Not spectacular, but with so much good other work I can definitely live with that. Links: http://www.beatport....ster-key/972613 http://www.psyshop.c.../plu1dw291.html
  7. Artist: Xshade & Loopstep Title: Double Reaction EP Label: Iono Music Date: 22-06-2010 Style: Progressive Trance Tracklist: 1. Double Reaction 2. Light In Motion 3. Inside The Madness Here's a great EP I discovered recently. After hearing Xshade's and Loopstep's 'From Another Planet', it wasn't long before I looked up more stuff from these producers. I ended up getting this EP and I can't say I'm disappointed. All the tracks have more of a darker feel to it. Still very slick with one touch effects with focus on the atmosphere. I must say Double Reaction really awakened near the end. It was almost like the melodies were hiding out a little, to give me a nice surprise for being lost in the track as long as I was. There guys have got everything in there hands by making these tracks as tight and compact as they did. When they think the time is right they make you speed up, slow down. Whatever suits the moment and whatever can surprise you. Light In Motion and Inside The Madness are no different. They use a bit of a deeper approach to make everything unfold near the end. You have to take your time when listening to this kind of stuff, nothing cheap and commercial to be found here. Great job! Links: http://www.beatport....ction-ep/254999
  8. Couldn't of described this EP any better, you took the words right out of my mouth. I like to think of there stuff as deep meditative as well. It gave me enough time to really get in to a sort of 'trance'. The original Northern Storm is great, but I would like to remind people Lish made a great remix of this track as well. Released on Carrots & Stick I believe. These 2 tracks are some of there best work. Especially Refresh. Not to fast or to chaotic, but calm and refreshing progressive instead. They thought of absolutely everything. These guys really know there stuff.
  9. This is one of the better releases from Iono, not that they have much average releases. But seriously, there wasn't a track that didn't get to me. All of them were great. My favorite tracks from this compilation is Everything Can Change.. really great stuff and very original also. Can't think of a song similar to this one. Other favorites are Key In, Nostalgia and Puppetmaster. And T2MU, I understand when you say the sample from Puppetmaster is kind of cheezy. I was thinking just that. The track would be perfect without that, but that's just a small thing. This compilation is wonderful.
  10. I love tech house and I understand exactly what you mean. Before I never had interest in it and I saw it as to commercial music. But then I listened to some songs from 'Wehbba' that hit me and since then I found a lot of good stuff. The thing I like about it, is that it's progressing in a slow way and every effect can get to you because nothing goes unnoticed. There's a good groove going on and when I'm in to the song it really gives me a hypnotic feeling. The same goes for progressive trance and progressive house for me. This is also the reason that I generally hate dark psytrance and really fast crazy full-on. It's to chaotic and therefor I do not really get a trance feeling from this. Especially the super fast crazy dark stuff.. what the fuck is up with that? For some recommendations check out my tech-house thread in 'other electronics'. I put a bunch of artist in there. Also Tribal Vision is indeed a good label! Have released some great stuff.
  11. Artist: Reverse Title: Reverse EP Label: Iono Music Date: 01-05-2012 Style: Progressive Trance Tracklist: 1. Klopfgeister - Good Bye Goa (Reverse Remix) 2. Progenitor - Soundreflex (Reverse Remix) 3. Reverse - End Of Line (Time In Motion Remix) 4. Reverse - End Of Line (Loopstep Remix) I stumbled upon this EP after hearing some good remixes from Reverse. Seeing some familiar names on the tracklist, I was extra curious to see what these tracks would bring. The first one is a great opener. I like the original Good Bye Goa from Klopfsgeister as well but this remix seems more powerful and full to me. Good piece of work. Next is Reverse's take on Soundreflex. He made the original as well, since he's half of the Progenitor project. It's a solid and dreamy track at the same time, especially almost at the end of the track where he let's you drift of one last time. I think this would work at home, just as well as playing it on the dance floor. I have to say halfway the song I was lost in the music. Before I knew the song ended. So you can say it did the job. The last 2 tracks are remixes coming from Time In Motion and Loopstep, for the End Of Line track. I enjoyed a lot of there albums and EP's so I expected some good music and I have to say they gave me exactly what I was looking for. Time In Motion is first, carrying on with the hypnotic vibes that I was getting from the first two tracks. It's as steady as can be and everything seems perfectly balanced out. Loopstep's version is slightly more slick and tight if you will. Both remixes took me on a very relaxing ride. Two different takes, but both of them have a great drive. I couldn't choose a favorite. If you like most of the other Iono sounds, I have a feeling you will be just in your element with this EP. It's the kind of progressive you can't go wrong with, hypnotic and more on the deeper side of things. Great stuff! Links: http://www.beatport....erse-e-p/899974
  12. haha glad to hear! I know it doesn't match the original description at all, but Vertical Mode have released some awesome EP's. And there only active since 2011 or so with this project. Check: Lazer Shot EP, Push It down EP. Some more good compilations from these years: Free Frequency, Goa Beach Vol 17, Royal Flush Vol 4, Groove Attack, Sunday Vol 2, Party Pack, Goa Year 2011 Vol 2, Goa Vol 40, Extrasensory Perception 3. Also Zyce & Flegma - 8 Cell is a nice album. Egorythmia - Most Wanted EP Ritmo - Phrase A Check: Reverse - Reverse EP. Yotopia - Master Key Something pretty psychedelic and more darker also, is Sonic Wave Control - Sixth Sense. Ander there's just so much more.
  13. haha that narrows it down a lot. Check out Solar Spectrum & Omsphere - The Earthlings EP. More psychedelic so to say, than what you hear nowdays. What do you think of the Blue Tunes type of style? Some acts are house influenced but not all, but some are a bit offbeat. It's certainly not full on influenced. If you can appreciate this kind, check out Osher, Yotopia, Nyquist, Kopel. They produced some good stuff over the last 2 years. You seem like the type of guy that can appreciate the Iono sounds also and if i'm not mistaken you recommended me some Iono artists as well. So in that case I can strongly suggest you check out the albums: Carrots & Stick vol 2, Progressive Classics vol 1, Forensic Science. There's really a bit of everything on there, but not a lot of house influences on there and not always a lot of full on either. Ritmo and E-Clip have released a lot of good stuff. It might be a little heavy, but check out E-Clip'sTroublemaker EP and Press Hold EP. Also: Loopstep - Optimus Fault, Optiloop - Destination Unknown are some nice EP's. Motion Drive also has some great tracks. Check out his album 'Recycled'. A great album got released just recently; Christiania Selection vol 2. He has a good track on there, together with a lot of other nice ones. Also give Christiania Selection vol 1 a listen. Egorythmia - Remixes 2011 has some pretty good tracks. You might like Infinity - Control Group. Check out: Liftshift - Full Cycle EP. Some of the tracks are a little towards full on. But it's definitely something different, especially Full Cycle track. Time In Motion's Four Degrees EP and there album Energy are good stuff. Have a look at Naes - Behind the Shadows EP. A little bit deeper type of progressive trance, but still very lively. A little towards full-on, but solid and full of energy. Check out Sphera & Yotopia - Focal Point EP. Do you care for any more melodic orientated stuff? Perhaps you just don't like most of it. You never know, check out Zyce, Ovnimoon, Vertex, Protonica - Form Follows Function, Flegma & Nerso - Sensei EP, Future Nature 2, Eternal Symphony (Tesseract Studio). Give Unseen Dimensions - Airglow EP a listen. Really good stuff. Maybe Aho - Ancient Tribes is something for you, definitly not typical stuff nowadays. It's from the full on project Ital, he's got a real psychedelic aspect in his music, also in this. Another compilation is Progressive Love from 2012, contains some good tracks. You might like Synesthetic - Irrational (more on the deeper side of things) and Into The Vibe EP also. I don't know if you ever gave the clear offbeat sounds a try, like Symphonix and such. If you can appreciate, check out the newst releases of Spin Twist Records. I don't know if all of this is exactly your type of stuff, but it's diverse and the best progressive that i listened to over the last 2 years. In my opinion 2011 was a golden year for progressive and 2012 wasn't bad at all either. So this was a nice job, I probably mist out on some good stuff though, but that's what happens if you listen to a lot of music. Hope you like some of it!
  14. Ferry Corsten is one of the very few normal trance artists I can enjoy. This is not my favorite mix from him, but he has some good stuff. After hearing a bunch of bad commercial normal trance, I never really gave that type of music another try. Then my brother in law had some Ferry Corsten stuff on his car cd player which made me like some of it. I let me brother in law listen to a bunch of progressive trance as well, and he loved it. Good thing we both like trance.
  15. First of all tnx for this little beauty. I see why you like it. I couldn't think of something very similar. But there's a chance you might like this, i find it uplifting and very relaxing at the same time. Perhaps you like some of these things. Not very close, but you never know. http://soundcloud.co...-night-dreamer1 http://soundcloud.co...rio-littletiger https://www.youtube....h?v=2xRpwXuo6tY Also you might like Fiord: Something a little more heavy is Wehbba. Check out his tracks 'Nature Of Time' and 'Human Interface' (Club mix).
  16. Good to see there are some people like minded. I used to listen to the more dancehall sounds also, like Capleton and such. A lot of it is good but some of it is a little to aggressive. Reggae festivals are great. I went to one some months ago. Smoking weed 3 days long non stop and everyone is so laid back.
  17. Artist: Yotopia & Sphera Title: Focal point Label: Echoes Records Date: 12-03-2012 Style: Progressive Trance Tracklist: 1. Yotopia & Sphera - Focal Point 2. Yotopia & Sphera - Vertigo Focal Point is a killer. The first track alone shows that this EP is a great combination between 3 Israeli producers. I would like to think of it as progressive that doesn't take itself to serious and allows a bit more of a playful vibe. Around 2 minutes it gets really good and that's when the track really takes over. Smashing and hypnotic at the same time. Good job on the brakes as well, it gives you enough time to catch your breath before taking it to the next level again. If you feel a little sleepy Vertigo is another one that wakes you up immediately. Full of energy and life! While listening closely you kind of get a clue of what elements both teams brought in during this collaboration. The result is stunning and at 5 minutes it gets better than I ever expected.. great job! If you like Vertical Mode's albums and other progressive that is leaning a little towards full on, I would suggest you give this album a shot. 18. Artist: Egorythmia Title: Night Sight EP Label: Iono Music Date: 15-10-2008 Style: Progressive Trance Tracklist: 1. Egorythmia - Night Sight 2. Egorythmia - We Can Fly Most of you familiar with the finest progressive trance, will know Egorythmia. Here's a short 2 track EP from this Macedonian producer, containing the tracks Night Sight and We Can Fly. Night Sight is a nice one. It has a very dark feel to it and the bass line remind me a bit of some Ectima tracks. Heavy, deep at the same time and certainly not the regular stuff we're used to hearing. Now I don't think this track is bad at all. But after hearing the Flegma & Nerso remix of it (on the remix album) it's kind of hard to say that the original is very special. I mean, the remixed track has such a good drive with stomping beats.. truly amazing. Just go ahead and listen to it yourself. We Can Fly is my favorite from this EP. Every effect seems in place and to me it's probably one of Egortyhmia's best tracks. I remember hearing it at a party once, not long after I discovered this track. It was about 4 or 5 in the morning and the crowd went crazy. I can't blame them either. Hearing something like this on good speakers and in a wide open area really brings out the best of it. I noticed stuff I never even heard before. Those of you who like there progressive deep, dark and powerful at the same time, will be right in their element with this EP. 19. Couldn't agree more with Blubber. I see a lot of reviews in the short review topic that could easily work as a topic in the review section. This way we can actually talk and discuss these albums properly, and go on for 3 pages if we want. To me every new 'short' review is one loss to the original review section. I mean, the only thing you guys are missing in the short reviews are a picture and a download link. These things are very easy to copy and paste and you got yourself a review topic that easy. That said, we could loosen up the rules from the review section just slightly to make it a little more appealing to post.
  20. Excellent album, it really feels like your going somewhere when listening to this. Heavy sounds but still something to drift of with. Indeed it reminds me a bit of E-Clip and Lyctum. Favorite tracks for me are 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
  21. Solid album! my favorite tracks are 'Game On' and especially 'In My Hands, such a dreamy yet tight feeling. In some tracks I sensed a hint of Techno, but it wasn't dominating there music. Overall really good work! And I understand when you say some kicks are like hitting a mattress with a broomstick. It's just that noise in some of the lighter tracks.
  22. Yes exactly, I meant not really well known and famous to the majority of this site. Ik think most artist that are well known here are more in Goa Trance.
