  1. Artist: Optiloop Title: Destination Unknown EP Label: Iono Music Date: 05-04-2011 Style: Progressive Trance Tracklist: 1. Destination Unknown (09:06) 2. Prime Level (08:34) If you don't know Optiloop, perhaps there other project 'Loopstep' rings a bell. So far they released some great tracks with both projects and judging from just about all there releases, this is truly a very original style of progressive trance. An amazing track worth mentioning by Optiloop is 'Gang N Stan', released on Carrots & Stick. With there Loopstep project they have made some awesome remixes, The Journey (Motion Drive) and Circles (Progenitor) are some perfect examples of what these guys are capable of. It's definitely not the basic stuff, they went out of there way to create something new and it evolved in to something sounding very slick and crispy. There's always a lot of speed in there work and both of these tracks are no different. The first track Destination Unknown starts of with energetic rolling baselines, supported by fantastic atmospheric effects. It only gets better and more intense during the song. This Greek duo truly knows how to keep the best for last and I can proudly say that this track really carried me away. Next is Prime Level and after hearing the first track, one would strongly doubt if it could get any better then that. It starts of very slick and tight once again, the Optiloop and Loopstep signature so to say. All effects are timed just right with simple yet effective touches during the whole song, while the beat remains constant. There cannot be anything found wrong with this track in my opinion. Everything is thought about and the hypnotic vibe I'm getting from this one is priceless. 2 tracks that really impressed me. I can recommend this to anyone who thinks all progressive sounds the same. Check this EP out, get in to full relaxation mode, give it a good listen and I would say your opinion is changed quickly. 2. I think something that could bring in more psytrance orientated people, is focusing much more on the party aspect of this site. At the end of the day, a lot of listeners go to parties and want to know about the latest parties and festivals. There could be 2 or 3 people just focusing on adding these to the website. Adding all underground raves might not be a good idea. But I think all festivals can be added, also in smaller countries. Psynews will be the place to be when looking for the latest parties in your region. Also people can share there experiences this way. Once there are some experiences on the internet already, it is more likely for people to sign up since they want to add there point of view. Also different sections could be made. When you do this, people that are a big fan of a subgenre will look in to this section all the time and post new stuff. So with a lot of different genres, thats a lot of people. And as we know with psytrance some type of genres can be totally different then the other.
  3. He guys, tnx for recommendations. Moonbeam is not bad, a little much on the voice samples now and then but ok to listen to. I will check the website out for sure, always looking for more good music and displaying of tracks is necessary for me so thats nice hehe. Cheers Blubber, I checked the mix out and was entertained the whole time. Following them on soundcloud!
  4. I am glad this issue is mentioned here on the forums. I remember a while ago when I just got in to psytrance I was reading up about it on wikipedia and not everything became clear and later I noticed a lot of important stuff was missing, it still is. I don't know if you guys are just talking about the psytrance page, but I would like to mention that there is no English page at all for Progressive Trance or Progressive psytrance. And whichever way you look at it, it is dominating a big part of the scene and I am happy about that! Here's the Dutch pages: http://nl.wikipedia....ssive_psytrance http://nl.wikipedia....gressive_trance If someone decides to write about this, I have no problem translating the information that is already on there. By the way, if you are on the second page and go to the English version on the left, it takes you to Progressive House. This is also nice music but not the same thing! I must say a lot more can be added to both pages. For instance, Iono music, Tesseract Studio and Zenon records can be added under the section: important record labels. Also there could be some sentences about the 'off beat' style prog trance. Lately there is a lot more of it and this style comes from Germany. Artist that represent this sound are Day Din, Symphonix for example. Main label for this is Spin Twist Records. As for countries with important labels on the prog psytrance page, I would also like to mention Serbia. Also Israel is pretty big in this kind of music. Leading artist that had a big influence on the progressive scene are Atmos, Haldolium. (Maybe people that listened to this style back in the day have some ideas about this.) Nowadays leading artist are: Ace Ventura, Zen Mechanics, Protonica, Ritmo, Liquid Soul, Ovnimoon, E-Clip, Zyce. (Suggestions?) So yeah, those are just my thoughts on this. If anything els comes to mind, I will mention it here. I hope we can all work on this and change the pages. Because I know for a fact that psytrance music will exist forever.
  5. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSb0_Hc0adM
  6. haha nice man, you have good taste! the visua remix is great, just right. sometimes when i put this track on I can't pick if i choose this one or the remix. btw, I find that the track 'Hypnotized' from Motion Drive has some hints of this track. you might like it! http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOnWZgdXKSE
  7. Naes http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0iavo-GCGQ Relativ (from Sideform) http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZtKwB6oZSg Aho (prog project from Ital) http://soundcloud.co...o-aural-cleaner Juiced http://soundcloud.co...iginal-mix-iono
  8. Not really a big fan of this music but they have tekno parties here all the time. Not much in to the tekno scene but I would say they throw a party just as often as a psy trance party. They are always underground parties, usually free or a small donation in a squad place or outside. Sometimes they throw a dark psytrance party/tekno party and they have 2 styles going on. I noticed a lot of dark psy fans can also appreciate tekno music and the other way around. Don't know if this goes for every place though. And funny enough a lot of French people I meet at underground parties like this music. By the way I remember one time I was at this great psy party and it ended in the morning time. My friend in a van asked me if I wanted to go to a 'techno' party. Thinking it was the usual techno I hopped in and when I arrived there I was like 'wtf!, this is way different then techno', after this my friend explained the names. That was the first time I heard it hehe.
  9. I'm not to sure but I know I heard this before! It sounds very similar to 'Nerso - Science (Sonic Entity Remix)'. It could be a track from Sonic Entity, Nerso, E-Clip, Sideform, maybe Ovnimoon. Not sure when I heard it, but for a chance of finding it or at least to find similar tracks, check out these mixes (with tracklist). It could be in there, you never know. http://soundcloud.com/daniellesden/sets/rave-podcast/ It is all this kind of style and at least you will be able to find track names straight away. Can't stand these people that put mixes on youtube without track list. Unless it's a track that's not released yet, but I don't think that's the case here.
  10. This album seriously has some of my all time favorite tracks in it. Jensson, you have a amazing taste hehe. Flegma & Nerso - Altitude (with E-Clip) Motion Drive - Heart of the sun Protonica - Airflow (Live Edit) Egorythmia - Distant Point Ritmo - Practical Listened so much to these tracks. All in one album.. I have to get this.
  11. Good question. It think for my funeral I would pick a Bob Marley track. Very hard to choose but he track during my travel would be Floating Point (Morning Mix) by Protonica. The track does exactly what the name says, it let's you float away higher and higher! Perfect in this situation. If I'm flying slow and theres time, I would play Floating Free by Vibrasphere and Heart Of The Sun by Motion Drive. And when I arrive in Wonderland, I would play this and enjoy the track with everyone who is in Wonderland.
  12. The tracks you name are indeed the best tracks of the album! Glad you can appreciate his music, I think it's really different as the usual stuff! Also I liked the remix of Psyched, by Prahlad. The one with the Terence Mckenna voice in the beginning, great track. Yes the Balkans does amazing work on progressive. I really enjoyed the Eternal Symphony release, nice tracks on there. Also a artist that represents the same kind of style in my opinion is Relativ, other project from Sideform I believe. Like his music a lot as well!
  13. So what do you guys think of Lyctum? I discovered this producer a while ago and everything that came from him so far is great! He has released some awesome prog psytrance and his sounds are very original. The album Tales Of The Universe is his best release so far in my opinion, absolutely amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW3UnBCqIiA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnqTiMuZbgM "LYCTUM is one of the few producers who dares to step out of the Psychedelic Trance formula, creating new soundscapes with an uplifting mood, very atmospheric melodies and percussive elements. It comes as no surprise that his previous work has been released on plenty of labels (Hommega Productions, Utopia Records, Geomagnetic Records), and his collaborations include acts like: Zyce, Flegma, Nerso, Sideform, Vice, Aqualize, Ovnimoon and many more. LYCTUM (Dejan Jovanovic) is another fantastic act from Belgrade and has previously recorded under the name PROSPECT. "
  14. This is true. Also I recommend 'Dacru records' for this kind of stuff.
  15. hehe, so funny. I was just trying to read the german and test my german language skills. and I understood most of it! It's pretty similar to dutch actually,. To be honest I don't really see it as Goa Trance. Maybe it's because I'm not totally feeling this Rammstein music. But I have other music styles that basically give me the same feeling as psytrance. So I think this goes for a number of other electronic songs and not just Rammstein. For instance with Tech-House music, I basically receive the same feeling and emotions as with prog trance. It all has to do with the intention of the producer. A number of electronic music are basically designed to make you float away during the song so to say.
  16. So what do you guys think of Tech House and Progressive House music? Just wondering if there are more psytrance listeners who can appreciate this. I learned to appreciate this music style after listening a lot of progressive trance. There is a lot of this out there which have house influences and where the line from prog trance to prog House is very tin. I discovered some great tracks and after this I've been listening ever since. I find this kind of house music really gives me the 'trance' feeling, an emotional trip throughout the song were I can just float away (without any or to much lyrics). So far I'm listening to some really good artist, like: Wehbba, Khainz, Robert Babicz, Fiord, Jossie Telch, Navarro. Some labels I'm enjoying: Undergroove Music, Echoes Records. For anyone who thinks House music is to commercial: I think it could be fair to say that it is more commercial then psytrance music. Still I find Tech and Prog house much less commercial then a lot of other type of House music or other music styles for that matter. This style is huge and theres a bit of everything, just like psytrance. So just take a listen, maybe you like it. Besides the artists I listed, is there any other good ones or good tracks I should know about? Please share! Anyway, some perfect examples of what I listen to: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeEEbbjN5r8 http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXGQmjpjbOg http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQoikF8Prt4 http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEyvu9T22Dg http://soundcloud.co...e-groove-sensor http://soundcloud.co...ro-gringas-fred http://soundcloud.co...h-borders-steve http://soundcloud.co...rome-out-15-dec
  17. This is not bad at all actually. Perhaps you don't like it at all, but for a bit similar style and other artist check out: Silicon Sound - Pure Reality (Ephedrix remix) Ephedrix - Far Away, Ephedrix - Edisons Future, Electro Sun & Brain Damage - Hypnotic Voices (Ephedrix rmx)
  18. Yes LSD is indeed a great track, it really take you far. One of the few actual Goa Trance tracks I like. From Goa trance artist I think Hallucinogen and X-Dream are on the top of my list. I'm listening to Motion Drive - Heart Of The Sun http://soundcloud.com/motion-drive/heart-of-the-sun
  19. Yes, I see what you mean. I know it's not a good thing to just believe everything they put up on the internet, but perhaps some people experienced situations that weren't exactly like the police in there own country. With 1000's of people and 100's of cops, there is always a incident somewhere I bet. And undercover police is indeed the worse, you don't know what to expect at that stage. Glad to hear from you that it didn't go as far as it could. And I'll remember never to tell border cops I'm coming from Ozora, if I still ever decide to go there that is hehe. Maybe just see how it goes the coming 2 years with the festival. As far as the police goes no matter how the situation was there, I think for a lot of people who would usually go to Ozora the next time, have found the choice to go to a different psytrance festival to be more easy. This does scare away people, which is still a shame. But I agree, it could of been worse.
  20. This is a killer release. Anyone who loves this kind of morning prog to just float away should at least take a look! Bought the album yesterday!
  21. I think the remix of Ectima (Zyce) is the best. In my opinion it's better then the original. The other tracks didn't really do it for me.
  22. @ ollylovesgoa: Synesthetic is great, thanks a lot for mentioning. Not one track has disappointed me so far. Especially the 'In to the Vibe' track reminds me a bit of Motion Drive. But still very different, great stuff! @ Padmapani: Andromeda is pretty nice, like 'The Dreamer' track! Soul Kontakt is not my favorite, but it's definitely ok listening to. @ Blubber: That video you posted is a killer track, cheers! Krama is good! Haldolium and Element remind me a bit of Atmos. Not really slick prog so to say but I enjoy this also. 'The Crow' from Element is a nice track! Forward is not bad. From what you posted, Cardiaca is my favorite. 'A Very Fine Day' is a lovely track. I am gonna look in to these other pages you gave me, might find some more good prog there also, tnx! hehe, am I glad I made this topic!
