  1. I used to have a MOTU Midi interface years ago, but it didn't work so I replaced it with a Midiman one (before they called themselves M-Audio) a few days later. Now I use the MIDI interface on my MOTU Ultralite. It all goes around eventually
  2. http://www.last.fm/music/Freaked+Frequency/+similar not that accurate, but you get can the general idea.
  3. Your PC always crashes and works slow and generally sucks because you don't know how to use it. I have a PC 3 years old which works just like the day I bought it. Thing is, people do not know who to keep their system clean. It becomes even more dangerous on the internet with all those spyware adware stuff, which is again - because the user doesn't know how to avoid it. Why isn't it on mac? mac is not popular enough for people to write spyware for it. Trust me, once it becomes more popular than it is now, it will be swarmed with worms, viruses, malwares etc etc etc without any protection because none was needed so far. You don't insure your house until someone breaks in, you know.
  4. I use different techniques for a stereo bass sound. Check out the pattens thread for a sample I can explain how to do it if anyone is interested.
  5. I use a 12 years old Yamaha CS1x, and it works perfectly. It's also a synth, so if you find one for really cheap, consider getting it - assuming you have a MIDI interface in your DAW. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting an Emu Xboard.
  6. Make the Tutorial for Open Office as well
  7. I use all VST so I guess recording instruments is irrelevant to me. BUT I do plan on recording vocals and guitars once I finish constructing the studio, and I do sometimes record my own CS1x. I will not use mono! I will record all in stereo, to keep the possibility of adding stereo effects. I try to use as much stereo as possible, everywhere I can. This is one of the secrets of making a "big" and "full" sound. Take any pro track you know, make it mono and then suddenly it becomes very boring. Something you can try is to record the exact thing twice in mono channels. For example a singer singing the same thing, or you playing the exact same riff on the guitar. It will not be a 1:1 copy obviously, which can cause preety cool effects when panning each track to the extreme right and left. Just remember to use a stereo imager to make it 40% tp 60% of the original width because it can get preety annoying after 3 seconds.
  8. People buy macs because it's hyped. Same reason why they but ipod and iphones etc.
  9. I doubt that there is a point in releasing this album on a pressed cd. First of all, like people have said here already, it's free for download as wav. This puts it low on my "to-buy" list, even if I like the music. I already have it, better buy something I don't have. I'm sure there are people who will buy this just to support the artist, label and cause but those people are a minority. You still have to sell it to cover the expenses, else you're throwing your money away. Second, IMHO the production quality is not enough for a commercial release. The mastering is not good enough and it will be hard to sell it as a new label. If an established label is doing it (and the only label I see doing it is Suntrip), they are risking losing a lot of money. IMO better wait for the 2nd Mindsphere album. Just leave this one as it is. Do you want to support the artist? Book him for a gig. As an artist, I can tell you this will be greatly appreciated. As to the general idea of releasing goa, the amount of releases will increase in 2008. There is my own label (Cronomi) with the first release coming soon, by spring I hope and I think I'll be able to put out another release in 2008. Maybe even a third one, depends on my time and financial resources. First two are compilations, the third is an album - no idea by whom yet. There is also Phototropic which seems like it's going to release some goa (Pandemonium album etc). Shivlink will have 2 albums from Astrancer and Liqiud Flow as well. There is a future to goa :posford: !
  10. 1. vibrasphere - exploring the tributaries 2. twist dreams 3. perfect stranger - changed 4. dnox & beckers - left behind 5. phobium - future uncertain 1 goa, 1 dark, 2 prog, 1 electro
  11. get monitors. kick ass speakers, even if they cost 2000$, are not monitors. you only need basic monitoring though - so check out some 2nd hand mid/low range monitors. depends on how much money you have actually.
  12. There's the new PCI-E interface which should be preety good.
  13. it was great actually, but i dislike the kick
  14. http://felis.co.il/?p=25 I'm considering to get a macbook instead of a pc laptop because of that, actually.
  15. ok try vemberaudio surge that's what i have been using for basslines in the past 6 months
  16. heh i personally think that the "what vst to use" questions are preety stupid (no offence ormion). it takes a little knowledge in synthesis to know that you can do just about everything with everything. it takes more knowledge though to know how to do it.
  17. everything can do it. it's how you do it, and what fx you use, and the notes themselves, and the kick, etc etc etc.
  18. it will give you the asio drivers, but it sucks. for 35eur though it would be a crime not to get it.
  19. I need cover of UX album and MFG - new kind of world I have the Kiwa Dreamtime Enhancer digipak to give (thanks to basilisk lol)
