  1. yeah, the sequencer window is your new best friend! You can write your midi data straight into the instrument tracks or If you like using the matrix, you can make a sequencer track for your matrix and write in the pattern changes or record them on the fly. good luck
  2. Reason with VSTi's????? Does this exist? Anyhoo. Some CPU's are just plain bad at audio. The realtime effects thing really hits them hard. I used to have the same problem with an Intel Celeron 1,1gig. It's just not an audio chip. All I could do was change it. For now. Run Reason in 22000khz while you are working in it and you'll get a bit more headroom. Then render your tune at 44 and you'll get the quality back. Also play with your latency settings a bit. But get another chip.
  3. Woop! That one slipped right passed me great! I'll take one. That tune always cracks me up! What's the rest of the CD like? Haven't really been exposed to the mex stuff other than this little ditty.
  4. Hey buddy, I think this belongs to you
  5. Exactly! Some say Full-on without the cheese! And I think we're the best at Dark Full-on right now, Nationally that is. ...waits for the flaming tsunami
  6. Breathe by Prodigy. But I forget which Sega Megadrive game it came from. Also look out for that Super Mariohuana tune from Barak and Shove. Has it been released yet? It owns big time!
  7. I would call it "Goa" more than "Full-on". Sounds quite vintage 90's. With a loop this tight it's difficult to say! Make more
  8. Sounds like that investment payed off! Won't comment on the style/melodies etc. because they are your vision.... don't let my taste in music lead you astray! Very "infected" bassline I must say tho... But crispy sounds dude! I played it on my work mac with bulit-in mono speaker and it sounds fantastic! Small mono speaker is the ultimate test of your final mix! so well done. smart purchase! good luck and keep on rocking!
  9. THAT'S IT!!!! Brilliant! Finally we got a name for the the Skazi/Astrix/Hypersonic genre.... P$Y-TRANCE  perfect!
  10. New from Sellout Records! The people who brought you A$TRIX, $Kazi and hit's like "Get Rich and Kill Psy-Trance Trying" have a new mega album in stores right now...
  11. A studio sound engineer suggested this to me a while back. I guess it was his little trick! Some basslines are better with minimal sustain, so they are sharp and pronounced hits. Chopping the "tail" of each bass hit rendered to Wav gives you 100% zero sustain! And opens up nice spaces in your bottom end for your kick to punch through clearly. You'll here this technique in Britney stuff and high-end commercial rap stuff like Timbaland and Eminem. Apparently it's a pro trick. But each to his own I guess Plugin's wise, well I use Reason's Subtractor, on the Cubase side I have used Basstation, VB-1, Z3ta, but to be honest I still havent landed on a Vst that I am 100% happy with as a standard. Whats your weapon of choice? BTW there is a nice chopper built into Cubase. I've used it for synths and getting a gated sound and stuff, but never heard of a Chopper synth. Oh well, we live and we learn Got any eg's of artists/tracks with this Chopper Synth Bassline / Helicopter Bassline in action? Hoffman 2000. Tasty indeed My nickname is "Mylo". Nothing to do with any consumer shelf products! It was kinda given to me when I started playing in Getafix/Organifix back in 1999. But that is gonna have to change soon, because of this Tech-house DJ from Glasgow! Bastard! It's hard to change your name 6 years down the line because people recognise you by this and your old followers and supporters think you don't exist anymore. Curse you "Mylo from Glasgow flavour of the month house bitch"! pfft! And now I have another question for you! Are you Subsonik as in the Cape Town DJ? Saw your name on flyers and stuff. When did you leave CT?
  12. Been listen to this guy's stuff lately. Anyway, after I stopped puking I thought about his angle a bit. Damn this guy has got some tight production skills! It's such a shame that someone with so much obvious talent wasting it on "top of the pops" lamo-shite.
  13. Gonna have to agree. For me it's a basic pattern to really loose yourself in. It's primal and open. Intricate beat patterns require so much concentration from the dancer. 4/4 is steady and predictable enough to really sink deep into a track. It's forward moving. I have heard other electronic dancemusic with odd timings and really enjoyed it but I get my groove on to 4/4. Got into 3/3 before, but only briefly, at the opening Waltz of my Final Year Dinner Banquet 4/4 is way better!
  14. hmmmmmm.....now this is interesting! I've always rendered the bassline to wav, then then just chopped it manually ! Must give it a wizz Thanks for the link
  15. Settings in what exactly? What synth are you using for your bass? If you don't mind me asking ?
  16. Maybe he means the rolling 16 bassline? ie. every 16th note k...k...k...k...k...k... bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
  17. Your bassline is like a juicy piece of prime beef! And it seems you have a truly original 16 bassline melody there. Which is a rarity these days! The bass sound is fat and well defined. Pray tell how you achieved this wonder of the bottom end?!
  18. Hey dude, maybe Benza ripped your track off Maybe he's secretly a member and heard your stuff.............???
  19. Meet the King and the Queen. Sorry for the repeat, but it's definately worth another giggle ( giggles quietly to himself )
  20. A great Philosopher once said: naughty naughty.................... very naughty!
  21. There's always a big NYE party in Cape Town! Usually the two biggest organisers together> Vortex + Alien Safari. 3 days. Expect big names Enjoy!
  22. Shit! I meant to put a " " behind that. Please, it's just a joke in reply to EP's statement! People have a right to buy whatever they want.
  23. so you get the irony of it all! Strange days for psy, dude! But that's Israel. It's huge! Oh, and by the way.... the "undergound party" was for Shaffel Records! Not that underground anyway! But I just wanted to give an example of the scene breaking off into different scenes
  24. This is very true. And there is nothing we can do about it. I was chatting with an influencial Israeli producer < who will remain annonymous for fear of flaming or even assasination! > and he said that Israeli Trance had to go back underground in order to survive. So in Tel Aviv on a Saturday night you have a commercial party of 12000 people and 45 min away an underground party of 6000 people! They really have an inflated scene. And yes the masses want crap! So the "Real" artsists and fans had to actually break away and make a new scene completely. Or so this nameless psy-god told me. The same thing happened with house. In the 90's everybody chewed it up and spat it out and it had to go back underground to stay pure, and for the artists to reallly "create" rather than satisfy consumer demand. Probably the point where you, EP, moved over to Trance because of the same unnsatisfying reasons?!? Poeple will always support crap. That's why David Hasselhoff has released like 4 albums or something! And tours Europe each year We are in commercial territory unfortunately. And the "oldies" have complaints, but The "Newbies" have money to spend! Only thing we can do is: 1.split the scene, which is not so cool. 2. Hack online shops so people can't buy the cd's we deem "Poor". 3. Or support quality artists by buying their releases and hope that these "Me too" guys are flavour of the month and then perish into silence! Or we can just move on and get into EBM or something! Or how about a combination of Gabba and Bluegrass?!
