  1. You have to take a hit of LSD or any suitable noxious psychedelic to understand truly what's going on in the music! But only once. Thereafter you know what to listen for. On a serious note, a mate's mom did a study on the San ( Bushmen ) in the desert of South Africa. The question was whether they should be arrested for using psychedelics and weed for their ritual trance-dancing. They told her that they need to go into "trance" whilst dancing for their religion. And that drugs speed up this process. -So with drugs, "trance-state" comes between 1 and 2 hours -Without drugs 8 hours of solid dancing as a minimum, up to 18 hours In conclusion! 1.Drugs are very bad for you. Psychedelics affect sanity, Amphetamines affect your heart and brain function. 2.People have used Psychedelics for dancing since the beginning of time. The human brain is able to receive psychedelic substances naturally. Psychedelics and trance-dancing go hand in hand. It's what seperates Simon Posford's music from Christina Aguileira! The original "Goa Parties" in India were actually more "Industrial Parties" until LSD started coming in and the producers started moving over to the Shiva sound! So when it comes to GOA or PSY, Psychedelics were and are the catalyst. The core. Inseperable. Whether you need drugs, that's up to you. If you choose to use..... Fly safe out there. Boom!
  2. Cubase Wizards, please help So I installed some new VSTi's ..........wooohooo! But now every time I open a sx track file <from before my installation> I get a window that tells me Cubase has a problem with the sample rate of the track. = No audio! After some blind fiddling I manage to get it to play, and on another occasion it played everything an octave higher?! But to be honest, I am lost! Anybody know who I can set Cubase to always have the corect sample rate as a prefence? I am using "Asio" soundcard-wise. thanks chaps! boom! mylo
  3. http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/sayit.htm Same one that was used in the Skazi must die track! Really old school analog sound. enjoy! boom! mylo
  4. ol' skoooool! time travel! well done, you hit it on the head! you got to play in Israel, they'll eat you up! boom!
  5. ALL IMHO. This is electronic music. We are not talking about old mono Hendrix recordings here. We are talking about the Dolby Wonderland of today! Sure, you gotta have the leads and the hooks and the grooves and true artistry that goes along with it. But psy-trance is 50% presentation. Not just sound, but the manipulation of it. The science of controlling the way a speaker cone moves, opening up spaces in the low end to get the sub to really pump etc. The production is what seperates the good from the great. The best of the scene right now are musical genius's and studio wizards. We all have our different tastes in this wonderfully diverse genre. If it wasn't for new and fresh approaches and advancements in production it would all sound like sh#t! So I guess I'll meet you half way on that one! off to check out that Cydonia track! peaceout
  6. sounds good. Only tips I have for ya is keep making psy ( each track you make is better than the last ) and get Cubase SX! ( so you can play with sequencing more and get a good final mix going! ) nice one! tell me when you're in Hamburg. boom! mylo
  7. Title: Cubic Mass Length: 7:26min Size: ~10MB Bitrate: 192kbps the link: Download Cybernetika - Cubic Mass Link doesn't seem to work?! Maybe it's just me?! Would love to hear it. we should connect, I'm in Hamburg! boom! mylo
  8. Check out the last Parasense album and EP too! I forget which one it was.....
  9. production! Give it a whirl on a big system, crank it up loud, and you'll see. Or rather hear the magic! yeah there's a lot of cloning out there! It would be sad for this great record to be lost in the same catergory. but we do need new things to happen in the full-on arena. And I don't think just adding vocals of some girl singing are pushing us all forward! The newer Full-on seems to be aiming more at radio play and commercial success than blowing peoples minds. but we work to change that! boom! mylo
  10. Yo! I'm new too! I come from Cape Town, South Africa where I have been deejaying for 5 years. And producing for about 3. I now find myself in Hamburg, Germany, and with all you wonderful peeps on this wicked forum! Cape Town has spoilt me over the years as I have stomped in front of and played beside the biggest names in PSY. If you guys are thinking about catching some beats in Cape Town... DO IT!!! It's so worth it! It is the most wonderfully beautiful place visted by the best bands and dj's... and the stompers out there have the most fantastic vibe about them. Pure Shiva energy! I just got into Germany and am looking to connect with any DJ's and producers in Hamburg or the North. Anybody out there?! I use Cubase SX and Reason on a hyper-threaded p4 system. I am a complete sub-junky and tend to gravitate towards the full-on side of things with emphasis to the bottom end! I love thick intricate basslines with melodic psychedelix in the tops. I'm not too crazy about progressive, although I like to start my sets with 30 min of it at least, then I bring in the crazy shit! So there's a bit of a curve up to the climax portion of the set. More tension. I find a whole set of prog stuff get's a little flat and 1-dimensional! So I like to add a bit of colour and psychedelica to take the crowd on a bit of a journey. I play hard morning sets mostly. Outdoor Sunrise is my favourite. I never play faster than 145bpm. I hit 148bpm for one set that was outdoor and I had to play into headlong gail-force winds! It was madness! The longest set I have played is 9 hours, and when I finished ( last DJ ) the whole dancefloor just sat down and massaged each other! Weird! I have no realeased trax thus far, but I have 2 tracks that labels want to release this year on compilations. Hold thumbs! Favourite artists of the last 2 years: Sub6, Gattaka, Wrecked Machines, Earthling nice to meet you all boom! mylo
  11. great! The "Into Orbit" album is a little under a year old and it still sounds Brand New! Great production! And amazing useful to a morning dancefloor. I wish I could get to this dude's sound. He's a genius producer! Somehow seems to have a little less bass in the overall mastering when you compare it to other artist's like gms etc.. maybe a secret to the sound? It's still a cutting edge release and massive leap forward in the science of producing psy!
  12. I must say I'm fully keen to lend a few dollars to the cause, but what bug's me is that the label will first take all the cash to cover production and distribution costs, and then when the actual profits come through it may be a few months down the line. Too late perhaps? But hey, it's a good cause. I'll take one please. And donate the same amount of cash elsewhere to make sure it actually get's through to the needy! we need to support Somalia. It's getting f***ed by the Tsunami cos it's lost precious aid donations that were coming through before the tragedy. How about a Progressive Somalia comp?!!!! boom!
  13. Dick Trevor played in Cape Town at an outdoor party just this last weekend, on Sunday I think. At the "Origin Festival" with the guys from Nano records/Vortex Productions. Friends back home tell me he rocked! One of the best set's of the party. Tristan, I am told, is still on top form too! ol skool! boom! mylo
  14. I have used Reason since it was released. And I have used Cubase for about 3 years now. Finally I get a hardcore workstation and I can use Rewire!!!! Yipeeeeee! But, we seem to have a little problem, see. Maybe you beautiful people can help me. BTW this is Reason 2.5 + Cubase sx3 When I hook these 2 programs over the rewire function I get a delay of 1/16th. Both on playback and recording into Cubase's sequencer I know you guys are thinking "why doesn't he just use quantize or shift the audio 1/16th to the left? Sure, but you must understand that playback is IMPOSSIBLE!!!! I have to work in the 2 programs independently! Anybody know why I can't get em to sync? Is it fixable with adjusting latency? Any preferences I seem to be missing? Anyhoo. Lovelly to be here! This forum is cool and hopefully soon I will slap on some of my fresher beats for you all to tear apart!!!! thanks boom! mylo p.s / Any psy-Hamburgers out there?
  15. 1> Go to your mixer 2> Find the instrument in the mixer eg. Absynth 3> Add effect as send or insert to the Absytnth channel , * not midi channel where your notes are 4> Blow the roof off with solid psy! 5> Take over the World! boom! mylo
  16. Astrix, GMS, Wizzy Noise all swear by the Vb-1. BTW I heard ( from my Timecode connections ) that Wizzy still use Cubase vst 32 r6!!!! could'nt give a toss about anything released after! Bassline-wise... I have used the VB-1 I have used the Bass Station I have used a bunch of VSTi's ...but I haven't found a better Bass synth than the good ol' Reason Subtractor! They should make a subtractor VST! Cubase is my weapon of choice, but the subtractor is still the most solid bassliner! Render some Subtractor bass hits to wav and toss em into Cubase! Cool tips dudes Boom! mylo
  17. Anyone got a pdf manual for N.I Intakt? you will sooooo be my hero! Boom! mylo
  18. Reason is a great way to start. Although it is not as open ended as most people would expect. ie. you can't just drop a wav into the sequencer, cant add new effect modules/3rd party synths. However. It'll teach you a lot about studio hardware, midi, effects etc. And it's all-in-one standalone. Recently I turned my back on Reason and headed for the greener pastures of CubaseSX! I found that Reason has trouble with timing. I exported some loops and found they just were'nt that exactly matched. A mate of mine ( Chesh from Hydrophonic/NANO ) said they also had a problem when I guy bought in some seperates for a track he made in Reason. And seeing as though Trance is all about timing and keeping the groove constant use Reason as a learning toy, but Cubase/Logic if your "playing" starts to get serious! Cubase Rocks hard! This program is as simple or complicated as your music. The vst platform also delievers a much cleaner "pro" sound and it has been tried and trusted by the biggest names in PSY. And get a midi keyboard quick!!!!!!! Good luck! Boom! mylo
  19. Go for the Sennheisers !!!!! Studio quality sound with the new closed back system for djing! Plus the cable is replaceable when you eventually get a connection break! I use them when I spin, and when I'm producing beatz and my babe is trying to sleep! I broke my pair and Sennheiser replaced them free! I love those crazy German guys! Boom! mylo
  20. Olli rocks! well, at least now he does. I must say this chap has come a long way. Each album really has been way better than the last! I didn't like his earlier stuff too much, but these days his collabrations are just blowing me away! Apparently he is an absolute genius in the studio. I was fortunate enough to see an outdoor mid-day set from him, back home in Cape Town a few years ago! He cooked! He opened with "Kelly watch the stars" by Air! Totally freaked out the dancefloor and then let rip at 145bpm! He even played a psy remix of an old U2 tune "even better than the real thing". A totally fresh performance from another part of the pschedelic universe! He rocks and "Collaborations" rocks! Cool review BTW. Big Up to Ollie's Wisdom! Boom! mylo
