  1. Whoaaaah! That's like not very shanti! next time have the party on PRIVATE land, with the owners permission No permit neccessary. You could say it was a birthday party. Then the Police would be tresspassing.
  2. Shit, I also want to know! We'll have to look at the manual I think you can make a track for tempo automation in the sequencer though. Not too sure about this!
  3. Go! He's amazing. Shitty mixes. AWESOME TUNES!
  4. umm.... it's 2005 maybe you are just way ahead of your time
  5. cool! Downloading! Looking forward to hearing your l33tness! Is this mixing with 200's???
  6. patience my friend. it's like riding a bicycle after a while!
  7. Traktor I use it for sample tempo changes in my Productions too. especially when I do the occassional remix attempt!
  8. Cubase, Wavelab, Soundforge all sound like shit with their "Time-Stretch" function. Trust me, the Professional programs aren't that pro when it comes to changing the tempo! The others mentioned here are way better. trust me, I been down this road
  9. sounds like it's coming out in mono. But, as always, check the cables are plugged in correctly Make sure that it's the only card on your machine. And disable a built-in card on your motherboard if you have one. And give us more details
  10. get a good processor too! that'll help a lot! I got a Pentium 3 gig HT and it helped loads. But then again so does the card. the cool thing is that you can use the card's hardware to handle some or all of your effects, so it takes a big strain off your CPU Plus the card is famous for it's low latency. So with both you can't lose
  11. and mixmeister Try to avoid Soundforge and Wavelab tho. Sounds shitty.
  12. Mixing in Key is key! Harmonics rawks! But still somethings just don't go together! It's like 2 guitar solos on one stage BTW I found Mixmeister particularly handy for discovering what key a track is in
  13. that's pretty brave dude ! sounds crazy! put a mix online so we can hear you! hmmmmmm...........personally: I find a minute is the way to go, especially with the harder, more intricate tunes. The last minute is where everything seems to die down and level off a bit - the perfect portion for both tunes to play on top of each other. 2-3 min before the end of the track the song is normally either at it's peak, or in the middle of a huge break. Both are not the best moments to bring in your new tune. Especially when you have 2 loud portions on top of each other, clipping can occur and the intensity of the music is doubled. Melodies can become confused, and generally things can get a bit messy. I have developed my style over the space of 6 years, and have been playing professionally for 5. I have learned from some of the best and I have a distinct style which works for me. Firstly I believe in letting the magic of the songs shine through. Sometimes a song comes together at the 2-3 min mark, the "climax" if you want to call it. Or it makes it's big "melodic statement". And I think it's bad to distract people form this moment. I don't put my mixing "on display" and show off my skills. But rather knit together a tapestry of awesome tunes, and make my mixes as invisible as possible. I try to spin for 3 hours without anyone noticing a single mix. I also never pitch up or down more than 1.4% ( 2 bpm ). I would rather choose another, more suitable tune than force it into a bpm range. Often when you pitch a track too much it sounds like it's either dragging it's feet ( too slow for it's size ) or it's too thin and flat ( too fast for it's size ). To be honest, mostly, my pitch control is sitting on "0". That's why I'm not that excited about CDJ 200's anyway I normally mix out at -1:00, and I never use the crossfader! Or the levels! I mix completely with the EQ's! I find this gives the smoothest transitions and keeps the levels going steady because you are slowly swopping each channel and therefore have more control. So you actually have 3 little stagerred tansitions instead of one big one. Anyhoo. This is the way I do it. It's by no means the only way, or the right way. I am sure you all have your own styles. If you don't have a style yet, I hope you can at least get 1 usefull tip out of this! peace
  14. ah yes, the golden formula! greatest tip of em all!
  15. what an EP-fest! he he Nice one babe. Enjoy!
  16. By the Behringer Mixer and spend extra on good music!
  17. Word! I played prog for 3 years on 100's and never missed a beat!
  18. Maybe I need to explain myself a little better. I WASN'T TALKING ABOUT BPM RANGE! But rather the fact that the speeds are "rounded off". ie 142.0 ... whatever Basilisk it sounds like you're very stuck on your 200's. Good for you. I am sure they rock just as much. And maybe in the future I too will move over to them BUT I WILL NEVER DO A 2 MIN PROGRESSIVE TRANSITION I play like 2-3 prog tracks if necessary. A whole set is just too boring But each to his own, and each to his own tools! I mix with a 1min overlap mostly. And have been playing on cdj 100's for 6 years, and I have yet to see 200's setup at a club or party.
  19. I have already posted this, but try this Behringer : prices range between $80-$120, so shop around for the best price. Great mixer, ultra-low noise, great cue function, bpm counter x2 and 3 Channels! Infact I have ordered one and get it in 3 days, hopefully! When Iwent to the store they were sold out of stock! So there you have it! Behringer Pro Mixer DM 626 ( They have a Spanish version of the website too! ) If this hasn't convinced you then look at the Numark site! good luck.
  20. LOL so true! Especially from Ego deejays, organisers that are wasted, club owners that forget to pay you and Kids on pills requesting skazi! may the force be with you
  21. Yip the new CDJ's sure do look tempting But then again most of the tracks produced nowadays are 140 bpm, 142, 144, 145 etc. So 0.10% is no problem. If speeds of tracks were like 141.250 and 143.850 it would make more sense to have greater pitch resolution. Sure, it's not perfect on the 100s, but that's where a little help from the jog dial comes in. We are DJ's.... we gotta WORK for our money! I saw the 200's in a shop on Saturday. There was a demo model and it was trashed. Falling apart. Looked like shit and definately didn't look dj-proof! I thought it was a cheap rip-off of the 100s and then I noticed the Pioneer logo They don't look very well engineered. Go with the 100s, you can't go wrong. I have had mine for 6 years and they are still solid and never let me down! EDIT: MYLO Rocks Pioneer CDJ 100s at a party in Cape Town (below) v v v v v v
  22. I guess I juste hate playing on them as well. Don't like the interface. But that's me Also the experience that I have had with the 300's found them to be a little too soft on the output. This Behringer baby is 3 channels and a third of the price. CLICKY
  23. I don't like Pioneer mixers they're so expensive. I left my mixer in Cape Town so I'm going to get a Behringer for over here CDJ 100s are cool. They are like the SL 1200's of cd-players. Most clubs and parties I've played at have them.
  24. I am so very happy with this card. It roxxor! I recommend it to anyone that's looking for a soundcard that doesn't want to blow a lot of cash! Using hardware for effects just makes so much sense! I have got awesome results using the compressor and the phaser is wild! Have you got one? Just wanted to know what are your favourite DSP effects/presets are.
