  1. I thought it was fucking fantastic. Proof that a visionary production does not necessarily need a story. Actually, the little background info that you can surmise from what is happening has that mythos-building quality like ancient myths translated into operas, where the story often is not really fleshed out and rather simple but where the production-quality is of such a level that the piece becomes something else. God I wish there were more movies like this. Don't get me wrong, I'll be one of the first to complain about a movie lacking story, if that's one of the selling points of the movie. As story has never been that for the mad max movies, and the rest is that good, I don't care about it.
  2. Thanks for all the recommendations guys! Downloading Sephira as we speak and ordered some Alwoods and the Astral Waves album and will definitely check out the rest too!
  3. Ow yes, spiral empire will do nicely, even have it in my collection! Stuff like this is also very much welcome! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2fVYAr3PxE
  4. Guys, I'm looking for some deep trance/prog chill like akshan's releases on altar.... It needs to have a 4/4 kick and must be around 100-120 bpm. I already have some other altar stuff like the Ra and E-Mantra Downtempo albums, the Neogoa releases and quite a lot of ultimae releases (although these seldom categorize into the kind of slower trance that I'm looking for), but any track/album is a welcome recommendation. Go!
  5. After reading Bill's review I bought it too... Got the download from psyshop but probably will wait for the disc to arrive before checking it out. Didn't listen to the samples either... I'm actually a bit scared to listen to it
  6. I'm going to be bold and give you a multiple choice If you're looking for extra downtempo (idm'ish, but very very good imo) I'd recommend conversations with bees: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/ale/ale1cd021.html If you're looking for a bit more progressive with a lot of 303's (and don't mind the first track, the rest of the album is stellar), I'd recommend Maiia303's Sky in diamonds: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/ovn/ovn1cd093.html If a bit more forest is needed, go for Goch - Sphere Of Influence (Though with hutti heita you already have the best forest release in your list of the last years, with sphere of influence coming in second): http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/hyo/hyo1cd006.html (Definitely go for the acid box suggestion that was made a bit earlier too!! It's awesome tech trance.) So I hope I didn't give too many options... either of these three will fit in nicely as a good representative of their respective subgenre. So you can look at your list as is and decide what's still missing.
  7. Great set man, eye-opening how well that gms track meshes with the e-mantra track! For some reason I've had difficulties mixing old-school with new-school from a more theoretical point of view, but maybe I was wrong, need to experiment more with this Great flow too, nice smooth transitions. Free and Independent is a great track to close with!
  8. There can be no doubt about 1997... Post 2000 I'd say 2011... Back to Space....
  9. There's a couple of sets that have had a lot of playtime here... Draeke's Mentalism (still such a good set!) https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/58584-mentalism/?hl=mentalism Anoebis' Storm In Your Head (had some crazy experiences on this one lol) https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/53987-anoebis-storm-in-your-head/?hl=%2Bstorm+%2Byour+%2Bhead Jim Appleton's Neurogenesis over on GoatRanch influenced me a lot too: http://goatranch.com/2011/04/04/jim-appleton-neurogenesis/
  10. Fantastic set Basilisk!! So many of my favorite tracks, with very good mixing, well done!
  11. Hey man, thanks for the kind words! This is officially the longest review I have ever received from a mixtape I agree on the missing artifact track! But I was mixing harmonically, and didn't find a suitable track in the keys I was mixing in from him... He needs to be in there though.... Thanks again!
  12. So this already seems to be sold out? Anyone know if there's another place that still sells this album?
  13. Voyager 2, War Of The Hierophants, Ninive Under The Stars, Ragnarok, Afterglow There's so many...
  14. Hmmm, weird I never commented on this release before. To me, this is one of the best newcomer albums of the past years. Uncompromising in-your-face power Goa Trance that kind of heralded the Macedonian style. There are for sure moments where Suntrip's decision to make this a limited edition is justified, simply because some parts just sound too raw production-quality wise. At the same time, that's where a lot of the charm of this album lies I think. Nucleosynthesis, Time Beyond The Universe, Telekinetic Mind and Acid From Above are my favorites. There's this moment in Telekinetic Mind, I think the last climax where the track reaches that very rare melodic harmony that makes the track sound as if it is preaching, argumenting but with a positiveness and power that is overwhelming (damn this sounds a lot cheesier written down than it did in my head lol). I am very curious to see where these guys are headed, and if the Gate 8 remix on ten spins around the sun is an indication (that must be one of the most emotional acid tracks I have ever heard), they will definitely deliver classics in the future.
  15. I'm being totally butchered by bloodborne at the moment. It's a mystifying experience tough, and probably atmosphere-wise one of the very best games I have ever played. It's tough as nails (I haven't played any of the dark or demon souls games yet, though dark souls 2 is coming to ps4 as well), but it's so addictive, it really sinks it's teeth in you, deep. Recommended!
  16. Richpa and all artists involved, you have outdone yourself. This is absolutely brilliant. Love the concept, atmosphere and tracks. The two last are goa trance beasts!! Even considering the length of the tracks these should definitely be played out in the open!!
  17. Extremely pleasing album, forest that is not trying to overwhelm you but rather gently twists your head in a very comforting way. The highlights for me here are Bom Bim Bam, Bongo People, Organisticks and Aurora Borealis. But the rest of the album is absolutely delicious too... Every Forest lover owes it to him or herself to listen to this. I still have to listen to Goch's Sphere Of Influence but I'm pretty certain this is one of if not the best forest album I have laid my ears upon since Derango's Tumult. And that's saying a lot. Strong contender for the best album of 2015 for me, and we've only just begun...
  18. Looks about right to me. (the avatar and the rankings)
  19. It's not really bias in my case.... I just haven't had much time to listen to anything but Goa this year and since I enjoy Goa most, I resort to buying those records first. I wish I had the time to follow the entire psychedelic umbrella...
  20. I will probably update this post as I have yet to check out some stuff from 2014, but these are the preliminary results: Uptempo: 1: VA - Ten Spins Around The Sun (Suntrip Records) 2: Shakta - Retroscape (Suntrip Records) 3: VA - Flight 604 Chapter II (Zion604) 4: VA - Moon Ritual (Amakusa Records) 5: VA - Analog Dreams (DAT Records) 6: Deviant Electronics - Green Room (Zion604) 7: E-Mantra - Nemesis (Suntrip Records) 8: VA - ThreeOhmThree (Anjuna Records) 9: VA - Epoch Of The Terrans (Suntrip Records) 10: Ephedra - Journey Through My Head (Goa Madness Records) Downtempo: Haven't listened enough downtempo in 2014
  21. Dear Psynews'ers, https://soundcloud.com/ironsun/the-ascension-of-helios-a-decade-of-suntrip-trance Take a cosmic ride amongst the stars as we delve into the backcatalogue of thé melodic Goa Trance label in the world: Suntrip Records! I have recorded this set especially for the celebration of their ten years of existence, both as a birthday present and as a thanks for all the wonderful music their artists have created and they themselves have released. This journey starts off with floating harmonic goa trance and steadily transforms into an absolute supernova of acid and melody. Tracklist: RA - Road To Shiraz (Intro) Uth - Cosmic Fusion Nebula Meltdown - A Higher Pathway Cymatics - Celestial Sunrise Antares - Astral Plane Khetzal - Indian Attic (E-Mantra’s Tellurian Remix) Dimension 5 - Zarkon Cosmic Dimension - Time Beyond The Universe Celestial Intelligence - The Coming Storm Mindsphere- To Infinity Innerspace - Innerspace Filteria - Birds Lingva Franca (2013 Edit) Comments, tips, criticism are more than welcome! Enjoy the ride!
  22. I think it's a good selection, considering the amount of artists and tracks released by neogoa, it couldn't have been easy to compile. Favorite here is Morphic Resonance (though I still have a weak spot for the climax of tetragrammaton), it's almost creepy how much chromatic world sounds like an Etnica-track...
