  1. There's a Muskaria open air party this saturday. Contact: muskaria@muskaria.com It's a village close to Barcelona called Les Oliveres (Martorell) Can't help you with the shop info but i heard they're closed. Have a nice trip
  2. Yes, there are similarities but: ¿4/4?, as Cybernetika said check out metal stuff like Meshuggah, A Life Once Lost, The Dillinger Scape Plan or Converge and tell me how many 4/4 rhythms do you find on each track. About fast tempo i could say there are loads of down tempo metal bands like Crowbar, Isis, Neurosis or even Opeth, and in terms of repetition you can find a media of 4 or 5 riffs on a 3 minutes length metal track, possibly the same quantity of melodic unities that you can find on a 7 minutes length psy track. Where i'm trying to get is metal music, as psy scene, is a huge universe where generalizing is very dangerous. Halosian, it would be better to say ''i dislike metal music because it sounds horrible in my ears'', for example. But please, do not blaspheme comparing the skills required to perform a metal/rock live show or to produce a metal/rock record with a psyact or a psy album because i can have a good laugh. I love psy and it's sure there are great ''artists'' on psy scene but just a very very few ''musicians'' . Sorry but you cannot compare, no way.
  3. I usually dislike vocals in trance but if you find a good track with vocals and mix it properly the set in general really improves, imo. SBK - Borderline is a example for me of a good prog track with vocals, but maybe the purists won't consider it psy
  4. My basic live gear: A pair of Cort Artisan Basses (one of them in sunburst) Peavey Classic 400 W valve head (in black) Mesa Boogie 2x15 cabinet And a Boss Overdrive Pedal
  5. Besides the appearence on stage, the best psytrance live act i've ever seen in my life it's Hilight Tribe by far. Absolutely incredible how they create such a digital feeling with analog instruments (at least, most of them). Great musicians with their own concept. Sorry but two guys with sequenced keyboards, twisting knobs and jumping all the time are not live music, and this is the 90% of the psytrance live acts i've seen.
  6. Excuse my ignorance but ¿what is ''Nitzhonot''? ¿How does it sound like?
  7. I'm glad to help you. I hope to go some day to Hellas and i'll ask you for some tips then . Have a nice trip.
  8. Hi ritual, i've checked Nikon prices on some spanish webs and it's about 250/300€. Not much difference.
  9. Retiro Park is a huge park located in the center of the city. It's really beautiful, with a small lake inside, you should visit it on a sunny day. On Sundays there are lots of hips and party animals playing the drums, dancing, smoking, and drinking just in front of the lake. It's a show . In this park there are loads of moroccan and african dealers, but there's constant policial activity so... As unikos said, another hilight is the ''hip area''(very funny haha). Well, this area is composed by some famous districts. Malasaña is the alternative district (rock and metal pubs, Dos de Mayo square, Fuencarral street), Chueca is the gay district (clubs, fashion clothes shops, Fuencarral Market), and then it's Gran Via (one of the biggest streets). You MUST take a walk by this places (by night and by day, in order to compare ). One of my fav districts is La Latina (old downtown), specially for it's famous bars, great food and drinks, and very nice surroundings. In this place, on sunday morning opens the most famous street market called Rastro. Great place to visit. Enjoy your stay!!
  10. Hi Ritual Om. For better advices i need to know what are you looking for (culture, nigthlife...), but let's go with some things you should know. There is a psy club in Madrid on Saturday nights. The name of the club is Yasta (Selenium on saturdays), C\ Valverde nº 10, it's located just in the center of the city (next to Gran Via) and it's a small club (about 500 people) with great public. This saturday comes Marco Sherer from Meller. The rest of the clubs just have house or techno programmation but some of them are very advisable if it's the first time you come, like Space of Sound at Macumba (from sunday morning to night). The raves season starts next month (with good weather). Now there are some indoor parties but not in your dates, known by me at least. DON'T go to Retiro park for hash: you'll be cheated for sure Bilbao it's an amazing city, i love it. You have to visit the ''casco viejo'' (downtown), where you can eat and drink the best food and wines. Also you should go to Guggenheim museum. I've been to Valencia just once as a child so i can't give you any information. Feel free to ask anything you want.
  11. I've checked some of your recommendations. I would like to know more stuff similar to SBK- Borderline, and if there is any dark prog trance. Thanx
  12. Great work!! It's a kind of psy tribal tech in my ears. I like it. Keep it up.
  13. Spy Technologies compilations (I & II), specially Crossfire- Hydra
  14. You've already mentioned almost everyone i can tell. Maybe you forgot Shift- Red Line, if you consider it full on. I like most of french full on artists like Absolum, Digital Talk, Neuromotor, CPU (ok is from Switzerland but is close ), etc. I also enjoy Sub6, Wizzy Noise, Electric Universe, and some Melicia tracks. The Turning comp is fucking great. I'll check the rest.
  15. I love their first album. The second one was disappointing but The Time Machine it's even worse IMO.
  16. Wich is the best mixed psy cd-mix have you heard? I like cd-mixes but in psy it's hard to find good mixes. I like Distance to Goa 9 (not sure) mixed by Joti Sidhu. Also i have some mixes from D-Nox at VooV experience wich are pretty cool.
  17. I would like to check it out too. Off Topic, wich prog house artists do you like?
  18. I totally agree. The only real live act (in strict sense i mean) i've seen in my life it's HILIGHT TRIBE. This guys are absolutely amazing imo, how can you make such great electronic music just with instruments (no hardware and no software) like bass, guitar, drums (ok, hybrid drumset but...), percussion, didgeridoo, berimbao, jew harp, etc, and drive it as a dj set???. Five musicians and 3 hours of non stop live linking the tracks with jams. Incredible.
  19. You're wrong. What about Speedy J, The 65D Mavericks or Takaaki Itoh? Great techno live acts. I like live acts and dj sets but a skilled dj kicks ass even more than a live act imo. And as i said in other topic, it's a pitty that in psy scene people don't really demand highly skillful dj's but i respect it as a special feature of this scene.
  20. Welcome to this mess called Spain I'll go for the next edition, because haven't been there yet. Let's have a look!! So nobody can tell me about Transylvania Calling?
  21. Trnasylvania Calling? Dark psytrance in transylvanian forests? Wtf sounds great!!!. Can anybody tell me more about it? It would be nice to see some pics of the last edition. There's nothing in the webpage.
  22. I forgot saying that psytrance dj's who think that psytrance isn't music to be complexly mixed with tricks and stuff are too lazy. It's a comfortable and unuseful point of view. What would happened if all psytrance producers thought that psytrance isn't music to be complexly produced?
  23. Very interesting topic. Well, i started to listen techno and drum&bass before psytrance. I love psytrance but i haven't seen yet a really technical dj set compared to techno or d&b sets, but doesn't means it doesn't exist (i hope). I know that most of psyheads are not very keen on dj sets but i love them so it would be great for me knowing good psytrance dj sets, can you advise me? I'm looking for Dimitri Nakov's sets because i heard he mixes psytrance with 3 decks and pretty good mixing skills but i can't find it anywhere. What about ''Dimitri D.K.N presents The Usual Suspects in the mix''? i heard it's great but still can't find it anywhere. Probably the most technical psytrance dj set i've seen is Tsuyoshi's (but music wasn't impressive) but compared to a good techno or d&b set (like ben sims, dave clarke, charles siegling, dylan drazen, andy c, diesel boy, etc) it's pretty average imo. And if we talk about Raja Ram or Goa Gil mixing skills we can have a good laugh, despite they used to play amazing tracks. I'll be waiting for your advises. Thank you very much.
