  1. Mystic force have some great tracks (and some meh tracks, but the one posted is amazing). Normal/Euro trance sucks. 1995 and before classic/acid trance is great though. Gotta love lsg, cosmic baby, mystic force, union jack etc (although apart from them I don't know many great names) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-nPzNM1sPo
  2. Guess it's definitely personal taste then. I tend to be quite picky with minimal, however I do like shiva chandra (haven't heard minologue or a lot of others). I definitely disagree, there can be a fairly simple piece written on piano but if it's written really well it's still great.
  3. Well this is the first time I've heard suomisaundi. It sounds... like the funky parts of Infected mushroom-dancing with kadafi, and maybe some of the parts of classical mushroom or funchmelon. Very impressive how together it sounds, some of the outros seem to be sortof straight forward housey which is weird though. Who is going to be mixing this!? Very impressive how together it sounds yet weird and random. Would highly recomend as a start to the genre, mostly cos I liked it and I don't know any better! 8/10
  4. My goa trance mixes: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E8MU7L86 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OZESTINH http://www.filefactory.com/file/af863c5/n/Welcome_to_Goa_week_6-Timl_mp3%3Cbr%20/%3E Tracklist is at: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&forumid=73&postid=8274992#post8274992
  5. All the tracks are 7+ minutes. That is impressive, I'm going to have to play this game now!
  6. Distance to goa 1-5 & maybe up to 10 skipping 9. Goa head 7
  7. Don't forget the gathering had heavy classical influence too. There's a massive classical breakdown in virtual voyage (their classical influence seems to be toned down a lot on b.p. empire and later, although I can still hear a little bit on vicous delicous). and maybe using strings isn't revolutionary... but desiging a synth sound that sounds both very psy and very classical at the same time is.
  8. Wait, you don't like derango? Which va tracks are you referring to? Eh Ehh Ehhhh was great!
  9. Maybe a killing joke fan got angry about his remixes?
  10. Ok so on a somewhat related note, I was mostly shielded from skazi. but I just heard his remix of I wish. that actually made me laugh. Suffice to say, the new IM looks a lot better all of a sudden
  11. I loved that sample. And agreed with the darth vadar shiva shidapu track. I believe it's called power of the darkside. Well, haven't heard the track, but a single word could be good. If it's a scared voice from a movie with really good actors saying it in a scared way (and you know in the context of the movie it was probably like, what was that? aliens! only done a bit better) then that could be reasonable. but if it's just some weird/nerdy voice then that'd be stupid.
  12. I wanted a new the gathering, or shiva shidapu, or shidapu.
  13. Acid trance/trippey trance maybe, which I quite like too. If you mean the first true trance track, but not really refering to the euro trance/shitty trance sound and coming at it from a goa standpoint then yes absolutely and yes, phaedra is a damn awesome track.
  14. I'm asking. Also, I'd like to point out there was allready a dark ambient thread, and concidering it was only on the third page here... anyway, abasio's dark ambient set was great. I'd highly recommend it, will probably need a re upload though.
  15. I hate how that page doesn't show track lengths however. Means I have to click a lot more to see that information.
  16. +1! Well now I know those guys are drone. Which is usually fairly dark anyway, a fair bit of crossover.
  17. A soulful and quite scarey album. Very solid, with some standout parts too, first listen tired and on crappy speakers but I can tell this is a great album allready Church of emeralds is amazing
  18. I was just listening to suicide silence last night, and I found that quite psychedelic. No one said anything about electronic dance music after all.. Although generally, I don't find any much other edm psychedelic in quite the same way as psy. Even acid trance is more of a dreamey feeling IMO. Some neurotech sometimes gets a bit close... and techno is more sortof hypnotic than psychedelic, even the acid stuff... apart from Emanuel top-Turkish bazaar. Well I guess the other thing, apart from death/doom metal, would be dark ambient. It's good fast... if it wasn't necassary for it to be a certain level of fastness/hardness then it'd just turn into melodic trance like acid trance did... and besides, normal psy for me is pretty good, darkpsy is a little harder to get into but even still generally isn't too bad. So I guess it really just depends on how fast paced (but not in tempo) you like you're music. Plenty of artists at either end and in between though really.
  19. Shiva Chandra is great. So it's not inherently the genre...
  20. Indeed that is a good album, and it is very much full on. However yeh, there isn't anything inherently bad with full on, it's just a lot of it is crap. Another great artist to check out is Xerox and Illumination, their latest album and their first album is great IMO, just look at helium off their first album. Hell even sun project does better than average full on (wicked had some pretty good tracks, not too sure about their latest album however). Hell even gms's earlier stuff wasn't too bad. Their remix of reload was great. but yeh, basically... when I goto isratrance and download a full on mix of artists I don't recognise and its full of really plastic sounding crap with lots of artists I don't recognise, that gets you jaded about the genre quickly. Although it would seem there's a bit of darkpsy heading that way too.
  21. TIP-world of the acid dealer One of the most sinister and unique goa trance tunes ever. I absolutely love TIP's style. One of the greatest psy/goa/anything acts. Would definitely make top 20 if not top 10... can't say the same for slinky wizard, although they do have some pretty great tracks. wow, I'm suprised we're losing!
  22. Awesome compilation, plenty of interest, very dark/mindmelting in places without being incredibly inaccessible.
  23. Darkpsy as well for me. I'm suprised a lot of people that posted voted it yet it's not that high in the poll.
