  1. Acid techno. Emmanuel top-Turkish bazaar (orirsnal version)
  2. http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/cybern...heric/#comments The first track is great... didn't know what to think of when I saw it ran for about 15 minutes before listening... but great bassline... and progression in general. Hardly even noticed the length... and brilliant pads I think this will begin to grow on me... and will certainly have lots of replay value 9.3/10 The second track is slightly better... some absolutely amazing melodies and a great bassline/kick combo as well as great flow and finish. I love the finishing melody. It's like dark psy... only without the overly trying to be dark sounds, but still nice and dark in mood yet sometimes uplifting. This would be a great in between track for sets somewhere near the end of it, it would really build the energy as well as it being quite uplifting near the end. Did I mention this has great flow? 9.6 The third track has an interesting intro and has a fairly dark bassline compared to the others. I love the melodyish synth that goes along with it about 2 minutes in. Epic, dark, dancey . This would be a crazy track for sets... I'm practically orgasming over the idea of where to place it. I dunno about the kick in this track though. Otherwise its great. This track is kind've horror in mood... sortof uplifting... and scarey but not even overly trying to be scarey... just a subtle way the melodies work together. Which is a great thing to have. I really love cybernetika's placement of... erm base drops... or whatever you call it when you drop out the kick so only the base plays for a while, really well done in this track and the 1st track. 9.6 Hmm the title track... with breakbeats Yes, I love the mood of this one. Epic with very good melodies and mood... very dancey yes yes yes. :posford: The second bit after about 5:50 is an interesting change in direction... this truly will end up being a very replayable track, I can tell. Derp, I'm a little lost at the 11 minute mark. Hmm... it seems to make sense later on. This is definitely a track I'll need to listen to again a few times. 9.8 Mmm a nice downvibe track... with very deep melodies. Was not expecting this... but it fits in raather nicely. Great breakbeats. Very solid track... uplifting yet slightly dark and non cheesy. Shorter track, which isn't necassarily bad concidering we're talking 8 minutes here. Will fit in sets absolutely great. 9.7 A fairly nice finishing track... with more breakbeats a nice feeley bass. and holy crap, the albums over allready. Razor sharp precision with the breaks though... really nice placed melodies too, and great synth design here. 9.6 Overall: 9.7... my only complaint is that there aren't more shorter more set friendly tracks, but then again longer tracks are probably better for home listening Better then excellent... theres plenty of just that something extra moments that cannot be described otherwise and absolutely no flaws... except for maybe a slightly stronger (perhaps more mids?) kick would be good on some of the tracks. Very glad I downloaded this, will be listened to for a long time. I used to think I could only enjoy albums on the second listen for a while... but that isn't true, very excellent albums like the one being reviewed certainly prove otherwise. I'll update and give more detailed reviews when I listen to album again a few more times. and ugh, first proper review/op review so go easy
  3. lol, I saw more music for the jilted generation (basically the album +a cd of a few film clips) under the hardcore/punk/metal category of a music store, instead of the pop/rock section where all the house (and there wasn't any other edm stuff) cds were.
  4. Not strictly gabber, but is anyone into schranz? This stuff is just great fun. It's like the ultimate ultra dancey stuff... but not cheesy and shit like you get in hardstyle. +theres a few artists like P.E.T. Duo that actually are pretty solid too. The pro mix hard techno vol. 1 is absolutely brilliant (you can find torrents for it btw)
  5. My understanding of a concept album is the first album(s) by the artist(s) involved on a project where they are more experimental and all the tracks flow together and are behind a specific idea. Like infected mushroom the gathering or classical mushroom... regardless of if the actual track names are a list of the things involved.
  6. Must admit, didn't like that blurry one at first... but after trying that... WOW! I think I'm going to have to print some of these out and put them on my wall as posters :drama: Got a hi res of the blurry one?
  7. I think it'd be better to list tracks that aren't quite so try hard 80s... I mean that dirty 80s track. Comon. Heres a good one: Xerox and freeman-Are we happy 80s feely lead.
  8. Don't forget also he did some work on the tracks of the original ambient TIP album.
  9. Theres hardcore /core ending which is hardcore punk e.g. metalcore and then theres hardcore as in hardcore techno which is strongly associated with/close to gabba... e.g. hardcore breaks. Pretty sure grindcore has to do with thrash metal though LOLOL guys, more goth adds on this thread Psynews has a lot of goths?
  10. Yes I think it is, however I also think house music very much has its own fashion and culture too. As does drum n bass (both to a far smaller extent though).
  11. Even still, they are quite nice quality... and erm... different? I like them.
  12. @ "Bad mastering sounds good sometimes" Erm no, thats impossible... if it's bad then that means it isn't achieving the intended effect. If you meant a low level of mastering that's different. Anyway in the whole mastering debate, i've come to the conclusion that there's a pleasent medium between oldschool goa and pop music/overcompressed/something like mindsphere-inner cyclone. My favourites in terms of mastering however though are: Infected mushroom Intelligate-b.p. empire. Kind've low volume... but dynamics and such are just preserved really well... kind've sounds badish if you listen to it in a critical light but sounds more raw and more powerful in the best mood. Jikkenteki-flights of infinity... sounds kinda similar to infected mushrooms mastering. X-Dream best of. Were the older tracks remastered? Regardless... all the songs on that album except maybe first half of second cd sounds absolutely great. Things stand out, things sound very solid... lots of dynamics and such I guess. Or maybe I'm getting production quality mixed up.
  13. I agree, psynews should ban all members under the age of 17 maybe 16
  14. Wait, you like deadmau5? Oh god no. Shiva Chandra for psy minimal and Shiva shidapu (unrelated to shiva chandra btw) for goa minimal. Both absolutely awesome.
  15. I feel fortunate that music for the jilted generation is the only album of theirs I own, but it is indeed very nice. I think I might buy their more jungley album before it though, I'd probably enjoy that more.
  16. Theres a dnb remix of voodoo people by pendulam, however the original isn't. but yeh, I'm a fan of both too, I'll recomend some artists in a while.
  17. Big beat Got no idea, Big beat More big beat Techno influenced big beat Are you sure your actually looking for drum n bass?
  18. No, I know what you mean by the dark mood of dark dnb/darkstep etc, and its quite different... anyway set uploaded so you can see what I mean. It's definitely a crossover with dark ambient or at least a very very similar mood. http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4e541/n/U...ill_dnb_mix_mp3 and erm, chill probably wasn't the best word to describe it heh lol.
  19. Well I mean default view would be the actual waveform (when zoomed out thickness changes with volume ofc)... but you have a view where zoomed in you see the individual (detected) beats and when zoomed out the thicker parts have more beats?
  20. Key detection? Thats a bit hard... and maybe not the best idea though, leave to specialist programs probly. Able to view the file/waveform in how often beats occur?
  21. Official psytrance? Who's the official behind that?
  22. Oh my god, I cannot believe I was about an inch of scrolling short of downloading this :@. Downloading now... I'm sure it'll be absolutely great concidering who the op is
  23. Loved track 13... and especially loved track 16/17. Which is the style I was hoping I would get with this mix (wouldn't say I'm dissapointed though, very good nonetheless). Lots of reverbey type stuff... lots of cool bass and stuff and just generally very dark. I think I know of a couple of things added to my wantlist... recomendations for albums like track 16/17? Oh and you wouldn't happen to know of any good albums/eps/ w/e that are a crossover between dnb and dark ambient? Like a set I heard which I'll linkage some time tomorrow.
