  1. No comments on this one for over a decade... I can't count how many times I've listened to this album (I had this LP on original cassette ). I think it was my introduction to psychill and no matter what anyone says, to me the main ingredient of Patchwork's music is always psychill, this album included. Children's rating is a bit harsh, I hope He'd changed His mind over those years . Very calm, mysterious and solid album (the cover describes music quite well here). 8-9.5/10 from me for producion and mood, sentimental value is uncountable.
  2. Was this some other guy or You're referring to Yourself in third person? Sorry, I got confused.

  4. It's Space Cat vs Artha to me, M.E.E.O. comes next. Listening to 2Minds' album one has to say they love crazy melodies and triplets .

    Sandman - Witchcraft

Listening to this album (especially the last two minutes in 'Ghostrider [time tunnel mix]') I'm absolutely sure Infected Mushroom duo has liked this release A LOT. Warm and happy sounds are minority here, this one is twisted and tough. Recommended to those who like more industrial side of psytrance and prefer X-Dream or Darshan to Astral Projection.
  6. I won't be too original: KoxBox - Dragon Tales Pleiadians - I.F.O. Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy or (couldn't pick) Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger ...and if anyone asks my sentimental top 3: Electric Universe - Stardiver Transwave - Helium Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation
  7. Three questions: - where to put music like Sephira, Akshan (110-130 bpm, ambient-trance style), I saw Akshan's previous album in downtempo best of 2012, but I wanted to be sure nothing has changed (some tunes are closer to progressive and uptempo in general than to regular Shpongle/Shulman/etc)? - can we include EP's? - if I put, for example, 5 positions instead of 10, they will be granted 10 points to 6 points or I should fill all ten places to be valid? Sorry if I'm being too detailed
  8. Just hearing 'Transdimensional' for the first time, nice trip, lots of knobs turning, but it's nowhere near my favourites. Found this one, funny how future can surprise us, well respected melodic-stuff-revival-label-co-founder .
  9. I'm afraid when somebody finally does what You're writing about, there will be bunch of people shouting -it's not goa anymore!'-, the laws of genres are so strict for some .
  10. Sometimes 'mighty have fallen' is just an artist trying to make sth different than the genre he got well known/famous of. I got bunch of producers I miss because of their early works which suited me completely and than they've tried to add/change their music and I got lost during the journey. More than few times I thought that I wouldn't mind listening to 'Twisted VII' or 'Cosmology VI' . I somehow missed this post, my thoughts from above in one sentence . Having written that my vote goes to IM and EU, but if by 'mighty' we count newer producers I'm starting to worry that Talpa's music won't be accompanying me in the future. It's not fall, more like longing for this crazy psytrance feeling, well - nobody likes to sit in one place the whole time, right ? OT: It's strange how (to me of course) '93-'03 seems like an entire century of music comparing to '03-'13 period in electronic music. Sometimes I can't differ the tunes from an early millenium than the yesterday ones.
  11. Well, we are on psychedelic goa trance forum and this music has had its peak almost 20 years ago without any groundbreaking changes in the goa area since then (also IMHO), so ...
  12. Definitely. Love them or hate them, but 'the anthem' belongs to AP.

    V/A - Tantrance 2

KoxBox, Astral Projection, Electric Universe, Etnica, Transwave, MWNN, Cosmosis, GNotR, Hallucinogen and so on... The first league guys are all here (well, maybe MFG and Total Eclipse are missing), but if someone wants to know who-was-who back then, he should start by exploring this double CD.
  14. That's a great idea, congrats! One question - what does 'bass' mean in genre column? Is it for some sort of atmospheric dubstep releases?
  15. Exactly, I thought I've accidentally switched to Delirious Noon. This and the chill track didn't click for me (too many walkie-talkie for my taste), but overall I've enjoyed this album a lot. Trinodia has the ability to create great melodies and he doesn't afraid to give them the first row. Some of the bunch are close to epic trance but somehow he pulls it off . Great work and I think it deserves to be mentioned among one the best of 2013.
  16. You seem to keep both feet strongly on the ground, which is great, just don't be too surprised when Second Comming occurs or Allah shows up one day . Using 'anything', 'nothing' or 'zero' in discussing religion seems (to me of course) out of place, because it's not physics or chemistry, the best way is to believe (or not) and at least tolerate the rest.
  17. You've just sticked to my 'some sort of revelation' phrase. I meant a specific situation when person starts believing, it's not something we can only see in christian channel movies. Saying something isn't doesn't make it so and yes, I know it works the other way aswell, I think we have agree to disagree here. May philosophers, especially ancient, based their system on believing that the world or specific behaviour is like this or that because they thought it is and I see no great difference between religion, you just have to add supernatural to equation (I wrote it somewhere earlier that religion is to me 'a philosophy + supernatural'). Religon does hinder nothing, only shallowminded 'believers' follow everything like sheep, they are the same who read everything literally. People question, investigate and progress. There are plenty of scientists, writers and other who follow religion and have successess on their fields, they don't see the collision.
  18. That's a bold statement, You want to say that there was no person in history of mankind who was an as*hole and has changed his life completely after some sort of revelation? I can also imagine someone who could do worse, but he/she's afraid of the punishment from up there. Religion, philosophy, way of thinking, moral code - call it what You want, but denying that 4 example someone says religion helped him understand the meaning of empathy or love, because he could do this differently and more efficient is just being picky.
  19. Having read all those posts I'd like to ask You, if the main melody in Etnica - Supressive fire is cheesy by Your definition? I'm talking about the one in the second part of the track, sorry I can't be more specific, my soundcard is off at the moment.
  20. T2MU did an awesome job (as usual) describing this gem, so I'll just add that this one is a must-listen if You're into danceable goa trance where beat hits you right in the face and You want more. There's no place for corny prayers or minimal approach here. This one is serious psytrance, a little bit like AP or MFG but in classy suits with bluetooth behind the ear instead of shorts and bead necklaces .
  21. Top Of TIP's CD is almost like watching final for 100 meters sprint at the Olymipics - no strays here. Nice concept for the mix album and top-notch DJing complement the whole package. This one is definitely worth a while .
  22. I'm guessing that nostalgia/retro wave strikes back again here, I'm almost sure an old fashioned walkmans are the sh*t for some people who put style, fashion and 'being seen with' before quality and practicality.
  23. Howcome a two lines post giving suggestions and guesses produced such harsh reponse? This is straight road to another argument.
  24. From this album I knew only Viral Spiral and Oystadub (great tune, fits to many different styles sets) before. In my opinion 'BiCP' is one of the shiniest examples of a great work from golden era. Not overproduced and, just like Anoebis wrote, the sounds that are left are pure quality, superb melodies. Also listening to this LP I have a feeling it had a great impact on lots of new wave goa producers. Yes, it's not Koxbox or Pleiadians, but definitely worth checking for it's own style. Edit: I can live without that 'space whale wail' from Catharsis .
  25. I see You're having trip down the memory lane, so don't forget crusades too. Lots of bad things was done in the name of science or reason, so religion doesn't have monopoly on this one. Religion is a philosophy with supernatural ingredient and, just like any other thing, can be used differently. I heard nice sentence in an interview once, interviewee said she envies people having faith, because she doesn't have this privilege. I see the begining of having faith exactly like this, You can't learn it, either You have it inside or not. Reading this topic I see lots of bashing religion and pushing religious people to a defense and calling religion crowd control or something for the weak minds. Well, there is/was that, but if it was only that, none of the greatest religions could end up with hundreds of years of what we have now. Just try to see through the priests, preachers and institutions itsef, You may see something great (but, as I wrote above, it could be tough without the privilege ).
