PsyGoatDelic Posted May 31, 2006 Share Posted May 31, 2006 our scene sucks! infected with commercialism, lots of kids & lots of arsim I don’t think you can say that our scene is commercialized, the police still bust many parties and you wont find "psy" trance in club... only "euro"/"club" trance or in other words: something similar to house music... the sound got commercialized - which is very frustrating cuz we used to have a very special and unique still of trance that I miss very much! Mike A Posted May 31, 2006 Share Posted May 31, 2006 argh stop crying about commercialism israel has lots of both relatively to it's size. it's true that infected-skazi trance is right now the most popular electronic genre in israel. but it's also true that the real psytrance scene is huge compared to other countries. not a single weekend without a good party (unless it's winter ). The parties are usually well hidden and faaaaaar away from the nearest cop-shop. The SA psy scene is far better than the UK one, which has become more commercial than coca-cola. And the local scene is very low on talents in that genre. There are interesting artists here but for some reason they are not booked here. I guess every country has its own style of music and psytrance happens to be listened to in israel.. why a certain country listens to a certain style.. beats me.. i have some theories though The intensity of things happening in a certain country could have to do with it.. israel is on the news every day for know reasons.. people can lose some of that bad energy through listening (and dancing) to intense music.. why psytrance? dunno.. could have been death metal.. could have been intense ballads other countries have little news in a day.. sweden for example.. this boredom could lead to wanting to spice up life.. --> weird stuff like texas faggott or the music could be like the daily relaxt state.. --> easier prog.. so some of the characteristics of a country could be related to the music made in that country... but there will always be an unexplainable thing called 'taste'. well anyway its late and i should be off to bed.. some day i ll publish a worldfamous article about my findings till then.. this badly written explanation will have to do hehe off topic: i dont think belgium has the best scene at the moment.. there are alot of parties that are very badly organised... the vibe might be good.. but a good scene has good parties.. A part of the scene is a bit fullon-infected and I don't like that anymore - so when they invite artists like Eskimo some weeks ago I prefer to stay at home, but there seem to be some minds thinking in another direction, otherwise they wouldn't have invited Tegma and Prisoners Of The Sun this winter. Also a lot of other interesting liveacts we had ... so yes, the scene's okay. We had once a sort of progressive collective that named itself Suntribe where they played quite good proggy-clubby psy music and invited quite some interesting international progressive masters as live acts (Son Kite I remember) ... but this one went down two years ago. Although recently there was another of their parties where they claimed Suntribe would be back and such ... but other than this party recently I don't know anything about future projects yet ... I'm staying tuned about that though, they were my favourite back then and still stick to their clubby progressive style and I love that...
