  1. Artist: Hypnoxock Title: Moving In Trance (The Collection) Label: Astronautic Records Date: December, 2012 01 - Logic Evolution (138 BPM) 02 - Reflex (138 BPM) 03 - Viped 1 (138 BPM) 04 - Next World (140 BPM) 05 - Camouflage (130 BPM) 06 - Dimensio Desconeguda (138 BPM) 07 - Electroxock (145 BPM) 08 - Progresion Ecliptica (144 BPM) 09 - Ecstassy (145 BPM) 10 - Vibrations (Cosmic Remix) (147 BPM) 11 - Emotions (140 BPM) 12 - Rare Planet (147 BPM) What was once the best kept secret in psytrance is now one of the projects that restores faith in a genre that has seen its ups and downs. Hailing from Spain we are freshly basking in the afterglow of his latest album Eurythmia where he continues to develop his hybrid of goa, psy, and progressive trance. What makes this project so special is the attention to detail without sacrificing power or atmosphere. Total package. This release (which I guess is a collection of b-sides or unreleaseds?) is six years old as of this writing and like the rest of the catalog it is extremely solid. 12 digital tracks where they (at the time I think they were a duo) go up and down the genre with super results. Reflex and Viped 1 straddle that psychedelic progressive line while Camouflage will keep your toe tapping in a euphoric style with a progressive bpm. Even the tracks that aren't superlatives (full-on) still reek of quality and detail. If you like their lush and powerful style this one won't disappoint. Free at Ektoplazm
  2. Artist: Praktika Title: Playing the Presets Label: Trance Bum Records Date: November, 2016 01 - Kierron Rajoilla (139 BPM) 02 - Hairahdus (140 BPM) 03 - Rahat Pois! (128 BPM) 04 - Donkey Kong (100 BPM) 05 - RooTest (146 BPM) 06 - Tuskien Taival (142 BPM) 07 - Fail Safe (139 BPM) 08 - Sea Of Mud (Mutameri Reggae) (100 BPM) "Here's to better living through chemistry!" Sometimes I go on a tear and just listen to music I've downloaded from Ektoplazm. There's a lot of what the f*ck moments to be found if we're being honest. It's how I feel about Suomi music in general, but the creativity is off the charts. This album was apparently lost and was originally supposed to be released in 1999 by Exogenic Records. I would describe this as psytrance mixed with Suomi and dusted with goa trance influences. It certainly sounds like it came from 99 when hardware ruled. The funky beat and piano riffs in Donkey Kong are enjoyable and I really liked the "late goa after the glory years" Tuskien Taival, along with the real drum sounds of Sea of Mud. Unfortunately the rest of the album didn't hold my attention with it's kooky sounds and sometimes uninteresting sounds. This type of sound has a very loyal following so even if I didn't care for most of it I can certainly respect it. Free at Ektoplazm

  4. Artist: Various Artists Title: Phonophilia compiled by Gayle Adams Label: Phonix Records Cat no.: PHODIGI022 Format: Digital download Artwork by Paulo Etnarama Phonophilia is defined as the love of sounds. For Phonix Records and our extended family, 8 years into our journey, this love for sounds stays true. It is the north star that helps us stay the course. With that in mind, our very own Gayle Adams, partner and co-manager at Phonix Records, started her own journey to compile this release - a testament to the sounds we love. Over a year a later and Phonophilia was born - a journey built to stand the test of time. The release starts off with Infektion's 'Rage' (Bruno Lopes/Portugal). Deep and deliberate, it is an ode to the classic twilight sound only the way Infektion knows how to - intense and engaging without compromise. Glitch (Dash Hawkins/ South Africa) steps in to dispel any 'Misconceptions'. More energy, more groove and a robot communicating through melodies a single message - something wicked, this way comes. We then go into the depths of the inner self. Through the practice of deep meditation, and fundamental vibrations, L.E.O.F and Ionkhe (Mario Funes and Ivan Lugo/Mexico) show listeners how each one of us can be a 'Nuclear Army' unto ourselves. Reborn with a new sense of understanding - we encounter a message from the other side. FinalFlash (Robert Dalton/South Africa) share the otherworldly tail of 'Dhampyre'. A beautiful story with bone chilling atmospheres - a story as ancient as time itself. coRupt (Andre Rossouw/ South Africa) furthers this new found sense of focus through 'Strange Fiction'. He helps transition the release to the next level with an effortlessly woven story of epic proportions. The next chapter gets the adrenal glands working in overtime - Domination (Ricardo Barreto/Mexico) remixes Locked Locker's 'Alpha' (Marcelo Espindola/Brazil and Josue Guzman/Mexico). Carefully honed to a razor's edge - this is truly a diamond in the rough. Killer Buds (Marcelo Espindola and Tarcisio Mainardi/ Brazil) and Dirty Devils (Felipe Vidigal and Emilio Renault / Brazil) take this energy one step further with their outrageously over-powered tale of 'The Lumberjack'. Among all the chaos and mayhem, 'The Descent' into a melodic dimension starts with Earworm (Max Meshiv/Israel). The master does it again - with this slick psychedelic BOMB. Not to be outdone are Contrast and ReFractor's 'Hyper Drive' (Conor James Steed and Luan Boes/South Africa) - a deeper exploration further into the melodic dimension. With the final leg of this release, Epitaph (Andres Romero and Jose Novelo/Mexico) featuring Orc'N'Roll (Alejandro Olvera/Mexico) take listeners into a burst of energy, guitar riffs and shadowy melodies. Singularity (Andre Muller/South Africa) further explores this realm with his epic remix of Iron Lotus's 'Lotus of Sorrow' (Daniel Honor/South Africa). A well-executed story that effortlessly balances both power and beauty. Not to be outdone, Phonix scientist Omega Flight (Derren Nuttall/UK) teams with Twisted Reality (Ben Edge/UK) to present a deranged re-telling of Deliriant's 'Truth be Told' (Shane Renew/South Africa). A wormhole of an experience, their remix transforms this classic into something truly unique. Beware, the acid is indeed in the music. The final chapter of our journey is 'Anechoic Chamber' by FrontRunner (Marc Le Roux/South Africa) featuring Rubix Qube (Kieron Grieves/South Africa). It is a fitting end to our exploration of Phonophilia. Beware - the 'Anechoic Chamber' will completely absorb any residual waves and whatever is left of listeners with its measured manic chaos. The Phonix team would like to thank everyone involved with this release for helping us realize our vision. Now, let's follow the north star like we have done so in the past, and will do for many cycles more... Take us to your speakers! It is time to explore Phonophilia! TRACKLIST: 1. 12. Artist: Geko Title: Poison Flowers Label: Digital Psionics Date: June, 2009 1. To the Face 2. Like This 3. Heads Up 4. F*cking B*tch 5. Iron Fist 6. Squeeze It 7. Suck My Ectoplasmic 8. World On Fire (Battlegoats) 9. Poison Flowers "I don't want to set the world on fire..." Well good news...you didn't. For me it's kind of hard to get excited about full-on projects even though my mind is always open. There's good stuff out there if you know where to look (be prepared to wade through a waist deep morass of crap though) and recently I've had a couple fall into my lap. This is an Israeli artist whose brand of full-on is acidic and punchy and he's a had a few good tracks on some compilations. With his debut (and only) album he beats you over the head with its aggressive nature loaded with harsh sounds and dark, futuristic themes. It's not the best I've heard and there are some cringeworthy buildups that will test your fast forwarding finger. What I've found is that there are some really thumping beats and fat basses that seem as though they will set the world on fire. Yet... Sometimes he takes that momentum and slams it into the wall with the aforementioned buildups. Let me just say that I love the last track. Supremely powerful with it's Chemical Brothers brutish swagger that will keep your head nodding. That is how you put an exclamation point at the end of a decent yet unspectacular album. Psyshop
  13. Artist: Chromatone Title: Wasabi Label: Nano Records Date: May, 2018 1. Chroma Corona 2. Closing In Fast 3. World In Flames 4. 88MPH (Rmx) 5. Psypress Pill (Wasabi Remix) 6. Alpha Drops 7. Attack of Killer Track 8. Wasabeast 9. B Ware of Square 10. Dub Divider "If my calculations are correct when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious sh*t!" I have so much forgotten music on my computer that this is what it feels like when trying to get through it all. But this was a pleasant surprise. I love finding older albums that hold up well and this offering from Lawrence Ezra Hoffman (USA!) does just that. It is full-on all the way, but with that rich, full Nano sound. So many textures to pull your focus in every direction with great breaks. No linear psytrance here as the music bounces from phrase to phrase alternating between liquid and sharp sounds with Psypress Pill being my favorite. If you're a fan of Nano or the artist and like that lush full-on then don't hesitate to pick this one up. Psyshop Beatspace

  17. Hey guys mixed aronchupa - little swing to psytrance/dirtyprog, hope you like it
  18. Artist: Toi Doi Title: Synaptic Electrophoresis Label: Suntrip Records Date: January, 2016 1. Pixel Voyager 2. Elliptical 3. Spiral Dive Remix 4. Exostatic 5. Rossignol Perché 6. Exostatic 3rd Mix 7. Planet 4 8. Whale Way Express 9. Noise I've never cared for the music of Toi Doi. I bought Technologic long ago and really had trouble getting through it. This wasn't the type of goa trance that made me fall in love with the genre in the first place. I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but I couldn't find a review for that album here. Maybe y'all are just some lazy f*cks. Gilles Coia makes a different sort of goa trance that doesn't have a lot in common with projects like MFG, Astral, Etnica...His sound is more experimental and shies away from the intense layers and over the top melodies. I believe his sound takes some work to really absorb and process effectively. Then again, maybe I'm a lazy f*ck. The 2000's were pretty productive for him, yet it wasn't until the Mother Pitch EP in 2011 that I began to give his music another chance. So here comes Suntrip and DAT Records with their latest offering of music from the cagey veteran. These are tracks from the late 90's and early 2000's that promise a darker and more acidic sound. And right out of the gate he delivers. Pixel Voyager is a long, entrancing bit of nastiness that immediately becomes my favorite track from Toi Doi. It gives and takes while it grows. Granted the bar was low for me, but he certainly now has my attention. And then by the third track he lost it. Psychedelic? Yeah I suppose, but the Spiral Remix was also light on melody and manages to plod forward without many dynamics. Exostatic exhibits a violent electricity that I really liked. As the track went along it picked up intensity and I found myself in a deep nebula of bliss. Unfortunately this album is a bit of an up and down ride. Case in point, after the mildly eyebrow raising Rossignol Perche' track he lays the 303 hammer down with the Exostatic 3rd mix. Pure goa! Just when I think he's going to string a few bangers together, he kinda switches on the auto-pilot. Nothing bad mind you, but nothing that requires the back button. "Everyone who likes their goa-trance different..." That's the tagline from Suntrip's shop and it's accurate. Nobody is going to confuse this with Afgin or Artifact303. Different is a good way to describe it and it surely is a deviation from their normal stuff. As I mentioned it's a bit of an up and down ride with some really good tracks and some that could arguably be labelled filler. Certainly not the pinnacle of their catalog. However, the fa ct that they are taking chances and presenting something different is something that should be applauded. They have been accused of producing the same generic sound in the past and clearly they've listened to what their fans want. The sound quality is excellent and if you're a fan of his music than I can't think of any reason not to purchase it. I did. Suntrip Psyshop Beatspace

  20. Maiia303 – Goasana Tracklist: 01. Short Way To Stars 02. Kick Out Your Demons 03. Goasana Bandcamp Release info: Mystic Sound Records presents a new mini-album of one of the label founders, Maiia303 – “Goasana”. Maiia303 is a side project of Alla Vagner, the author of the chillout project Maiia. Her project Maiia303 is inspired by legendary Man With No Name and timeless psychedelia of the global electronic music that was expanding in the 90s, and she tried to create the music clearly for the dancefloor with today’s production standards. This music is an unexpected mix of seemingly different styles of music, from Breakbeat to old school Acid House, from already classic Goa Trance to atmospheric Psy Progressive. 3 tracks of “Goasana” are cooked in a trippy psychedelic style – 2 tracks are 120 bpm Goachill and the 3rd one, ‘Goasana’, is 145 bpm melodic Goa-trance. Powerful beats, rich basslines, bright melodies and, of course, the sounds of the legendary TB303 carry away on an exciting journey. You will find an exciting fresh sound for the dancefloor in this EP. Listen, dance and enjoy!
