  4. Hey PsyNews, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Why does it seem that there's so much hate towards the Full On genre? (Most of you guys just seem impartial to it from what I've read on various posts. And maybe some of you ignore it...) I've only known of Fullon as the face of Psytrance. Anything else tends to have a tribal sound. Which is definitely cool as hell, I would just consider it tribal music, and not Psy. But that's just me. I'd like to know your guys' opinions if you show hate to Fullon, and either if you do or don't, which genre is the "face" of psytrance to you? Or maybe it's a certain sound, kick, beat, vocal, or whatever that does it for you. I've just been curious. EDIT: Some Psytrance sounds like industrial/futurepop

  11. Like the title says, does anyone know of stuff that is simliar to Crossing Mind, specifically his Inner Shift album? I find myself loving it more and more every time I listen to it, and I need more stuff like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51NzrTHPWEI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhiuTRljeAI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eka_M4DQ7Ls The whole album sort of has a unique sound to it. I haven't heard lots of stuff like it. The only other song that I could find that is remotely similar is MFG's Dark Water, but even then it's only similar near the end of the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbpwFDINYwQ
  12. while browsing through the reviews section, especially the review for astrix - eye to eye, i wondered fullon could be categorised into distinct styles by year. in a way analogous to how goa evolved from proto-goa that separated from ebm and later trance into goa (in its purest form) starting in 1995 and culminating 1997, then splitting up into more sinister stuff (think tarsis - atomic children rmx) beginning in 1998 and trancier melodic stuff (d5 - second phase, early yahel) beginning in 1999/2000 (post-goa? planting the seeds for fullon and newschool) before it was supplanted by minimal psy, progressive and eventually fullon, can fullon be looked at in similar fashion? in this case we would start with "proto-fullon" in 2001 (ignoring the few earlier releases, one album doesn't make it distinctive style yet?) with something like this... ...arrive at (proper) fullon in 2002/2003 with tracks like this one... ...this lasts until 2006/2007 when "post-fullon" emerges as fullon really begins to run out of steam, leaving us with... ...until we arrive at "full-crap" (for a lack of a better expression; post-post-fullon sounds equally crappy ) in 2011/2012 with tracks like these (can we really still call this fullon? i don't really see any similarities with how we started out) : this is obviously highly influenced by my perception of the music at parties and therefore also by what's played there. and of course there are always artists who don't conform to the most popular style at the moment (for instance logic bomb's and cosmosis' latest albums). in case you are wondering, i left out the night fullon (á la CPU) - twilight - darkpsy branch to keep things simple and due to lack of knowledge about twilight/darkpsy. does anyone agree? have you also noticed a switch in style at those times? why did these changes come about - were there influential albums that set the style (i can think of astrix - eye to eye and alien project - aztechno dream for "proper" fullon, but hte others?)? or does it rather coincide with the release of new vengeance sample cds? have you noticed similar turning points in progressive/darkpsy/...? having partied mostly to fullon i don't think i'm knowledgable enough to judge these sub-genres. actually i suspect we have seen a similar thing with goa around 2009/2010 when newschool goa really developed a distinctive sound rather than being a continution of melodic "2000-post-goa". for this reason i'd also rather confusingly call some of the not re-released stuff from anjuna or zion604 new oldschool goa rather than newschool goa

  14. Hello, psynews' members, I have entered the Trance scene quite recently and find myself overwhelmed by the amount of content and subgenres. Concerning Goa/Psy, I have acquired a taste for Filteria's Lost In The Wild, Mindsphere's Patience for Heaven and Etnoscope. I am an avid listener of the intense, fast, aggressive goa/psy. In summary, music to dance to at the top of your heart whilst travelling between its endless layers. In the Progressive side of things, Neelix as a whole was somewhat pleasurable. Regarding Full on, Indra in general, 1200 Microgram's 1200 Mic's (its latest album), Astrix's Artcore, as well as some The Misted Muppet have gathered my interest. Apropos of Dark/Forest, I am enjoying Kiriyama. However, this is the subgenre I have less experience with and feel the most lost. I do not even know if it is all right to categorize Dark and Forest together, but the differences go still unnoticed to me. All in all, I would be glad to receive some recommendations on albums/artists for each Trance subgenre I am getting into, as well as other genres I might be overlooking. As I have said, there is too much content around and I feel kind of astonished. There is no concern on my part in the sense of tracks' release dates: old, new; as long as it pleases my ears, I am fine with it. Just throw around some 3 albums/artists that you consider the best since the birth of Trance to this very day and I will be grateful. With kind regards, naa

  24. For all people who are not familiar with Neogoa, we are a netlabel from Croatia, releasing goa trance and ambient music since late 2010. Our complete discography is released under CC licence and it is available for free download at Ektoplazm. If you're interested to find out more, you can check this link. In recent months many people asked me why I'm not trying to push some of our music on physical media (CDs). and why some some of our releases aren't available for purchase. Well, the problem is simple - money and resources. I'm basiclly running the complete thing alone, from arranging the deals with artists, doing a track selection (that doesn't count when we're doing collaboration V/A's), doing artworks, promotion (spaming you here on Psynews - included), and the only way I can get some extra money for Neogoa is by doing a CD artworks and flyers for other labels, and that's not enough for my own adventure into pressing a limited number of CD's. But I'm also aware that since 2010 we've published some amazing stuff aswell and recieved awesome feedback, which is not something strange - (to be honest) there is over 19 hours of music released by Neogoa so far so there is enough of the good stuff for everyone. So, i'm now seriously thinking about starting negotiations with labels who are experienced in releasing goa trance music on CD and who are interested in professional collaboration for a eventual re-release of finest Neogoa material (remastered and with brand new artwork) and the only way i'm gonna do it - is to do a selection between our compilations,ep's and albums. So, re-release of material from only one single release isn't a option. My idea is to release one compilation and present 'the best of' material, but with music from various releases from my netlabel. And this is a moment where you can help me out to narrow the selection of the tracks and maybe if I find a serious label who is interested, your opinion guys will be much appriciated and very important for a final selection in the end. At the moment, there are 146 tracks from more than 60 artists released so far, so please list 9-10 tracks that you find good enough for a CD release and would like to see featured on this compilation. It's not mandatory to order them as they might be on the CD, but that would be really helpful, aswell as your feedback, ideas and suggestion. To make your job a little bit easier, here is a screenshot image of all 146 tracks released by Neogoa; sorted alphabetical with track lenght included. THANK YOU SO MUCH and fingers crossed for (what I hope it will be) 100% pure Neogoa release on CD). P.S. - Any interested labels can get in touch with me here on Psynews or on Facebook, (but i prefer to have conversations via my email: iparic70@gmail.com) so we can speak about the idea and the details. Edit - regarding the track samples and previews, you can check them via YouTube (full playlist here) , or just visit Ektoplazm and listen (or download) full tracks.
