  1. Anybody know what the first song is? The one that starts at the beginning right before Doof - Let's Turn On ?
  2. Artist: Various Title: Ascending Label: Melusine Records Date: December, 2016 1. Lauge - For Evigt Og Altid 2. Logical Elements - Flower Nebula (Original Mix) 3. Olexa - Miss Spring 4. Ancient Core - Caracatitza Cuantica din Oceanul Mecanic 5. E-Mantra - Ascending (Live Version) 6. Lifebloom - Rest In Self 7. Reasonandu - Immerse 8. Metamorphosis & The Adaptive - The Long Way Home 9. Cabeiri - Uranus' Seed 10. E-Mantra - Daydream (Dense Mix) 11. Saranankara - Awakening 12. Jaraluca - Spiritual Transformation 13. Ascent & Argus - One Day In India This digital release (24 bits) is from the label started by E-mantra and Reasonandu. It's a charity release with all the profits going towards underprivileged and abandoned children in Constanta. I won't pretend to know where that is, but doing good is universal. This is a long release at over 100 minutes and it contains quite the variety of music. A few mentions...All of the tracks have a good amount of depth in them and I didn't find one that was subpar. I'm not one for beatless ambient unless it's time for night night, but you get a couple of tracks of that here. Flower Nebula is a gentle and silky smooth progressive track that screams sunshine and the promise of a hopeful future. E-mantra has a couple of really good tracks here and they flow in the same vein as his downtempo releases. The music varies from utterly relaxing to strong, beat oriented downtempo with tribal touches. For example a track like Uranus' Seed has all of the above. While Awakening wasn't anything special, the middle break hit me just right. Shame it was so short. The fastest track belongs to Jaraluca and it is unapologeticaly goa. Mid tempo swagger stuff. And lastly if you like female Indian vocals than the closing track is your holy grail set amongst a head nodding beat. All in all a very good quality release and for a good cause. Recommended! 3. Tracklist: 01: Mayana (2017 remix) 02: City of black lights (2017 remix) 03. Over the clouds (2017 remix) The Quote: "This EP contains remixes of the 3 best tracks from my first album Inner polarity, released on Metapsychic records exactly 10 years ago. These are the tracks that, in my opinion, best stood the test of time." released February 26, 2017 Written, produced and mastered by Omnivox. 4. What is your favorite Filteria album, why and what tracks do you like the most on it? My favorite is Sky Input. Simply because I like the melodies and I think that it is well constructed. Favorite tracks are "Ultimator" and "Domestic Modulator".
  5. Artist: Enertopia Title: Magic For Eternity Label: Krembo Records Date: 1997 1. Intro 2. Broken Sky 3. The Shout of a Headman 4. Marakesh 2000 5. Novelle 6. Van Spooker 7. Manga 8. Volvoker 9. Wacky 10. Marteff 10a. Untitled "You're not ready for so much excitement!" To further drive home the point that not everything released in 1997 was gold comes the debut of Emiliano Solazzi Griminger. His second album Face Adaptor was appealing to me in a I don't know why I like this, but I do kind of way. With a heavy techno influence this has a raw and electric feel. With that description it should be appealing in a cold and dark way, but something is missing. There are melodies of course, but they sound abrasive rather than melodic. Marakesh 2000 isn't bad and with it's power and symphonic layers reminds me a little of a Kris Kylven production. He goes a little heavy on the sample usage in Van Spooker (even though I like the sample) and then annoys the crap out of me with a looped vocal tacet on Volvoker. For one final insult with the last track he adds some more music after an extended silence. I hate that. Ask me if it made any f*cking difference with the overlook of this album. Pass.
  6. Artist: PharaOm Title: Under The Sun of Goa Label: Neogoa Date: December, 2013 1 - Under The Sun Of Goa (149 BPM) 2 - Full Obsidian Eyes (145 BPM) 3 - Ispahan Garden (143 BPM) 4 - Shine Like Gold (146 BPM) 5 - Drums Of Babylon (feat. Nadasorion) (143 BPM) 6 - Sattva, Rajas, Tamans (148 BPM) 7 - Sopdet To Giza Travelers (77 BPM) 8 - Shiva's Cosmic Dance (149 BPM) 9 - Goa's Sun Will Shine Forever (148 BPM) Yeah, Canada in July is not what I thought it would be. Winter got you down? Well come in from the cold and saddle up your camel! If you like your goa trance with an ethnic slant Oswald has a shiny treat just for you. This is one long Temple of Doom menagerie. I'm talking voodoo priests that pull your heart out of your chest, ritual sacrifice, and chilled monkey brains for dinner. Sweltering heat with multi-appendaged deities that offer a gentle touch one minute and manufacture fire and brimstone the next. Real Old Testament type stuff. Melodies swarm and shimmer amidst the searing sun as chants float mysteriously on warm desert breezes. I'm searching for that damn Ark and no Asian stereotype will stop me. Nope, that honor goes to Google Maps! Man I hope they fix that software. That's it? That's your solution to the botched rollout? I'm not following that guy! There will be more twirling than a 5 year old's Christmas hula hoop. Except the closer. Hmmm...that sounds a little more Bollywood porn and less forgotten City of Mystery. Yeah I have a few Indian friends and they don't eat that. They like cheeseburgers. One did say she rode an ostrich once, so I guess we'll call it even. Beautiful work Oswald. Now will you hurry up and make some physical releases so I can throw some f*cking money at you? Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  7. Artist: Goasia Title: Defected Reactor Ep Label: Spacedock Records Date: March, 2015 1. Defected Reactor 2. We Live There I recently went a little bandcamp crazy and bought a bunch of digital eps without even listening to the samples. This was one of them. We are all familiar with this duo and I believe they are in the category of love 'em or don't love 'em that much. This ep should be a cautionary tale of always listening before you buy. This music damn near put me to sleep. No drama, no gravity, hell no goa. The second half of We Live There was pretty good, but not enough to save the experience. These tracks smack of some noodling made awhile ago and then just thrown out there. I will actually go on record saying this is the worst thing I have ever heard from Goasia. I'm not even sure it's them or some computer generated midi program. Spacedock Records Bandcamp
  8. Artist: Various Title: Goa Trance Legacy Label: Spacedock Records Date: October, 2015 1. Digicult & U-Recken - Into The Heartland (Astral Projection Remix) 2. Power Source - Sparks (Remix) 3. Goasia - Haunted 4. Filteria - Memory Lane (Future Live Remix) 5. M-Run - Last Survivor 6. Omnivox - I Am The Storm 7. Prana - Boundless (ManMadeMan Remix) 8. Psychowave - Catch The Rabbit 9. Shakta - Amber Mantra This was the first compilation from upstart Spacedock Records and like the second one in the series it brought together a great line up. There are no unknowns here. Just veterans of the scene with some old schoolers represented. Right off the bat we get yet another Astral Projection Remix that was also featured on the Digicult album Soul Samadhi. It's really quintessential Astral isn't it? With it's shiny layers and pounding beat. Maybe one day when my kids have put me in a nursing home they'll release some new material. But probably another ep of remixes as a final f*ck you before I die. Power Source is back with a remix of a track that was found on an ep they released back in 2011. Never heard it because I never thought Power Source was that good anyway. Sure Goaway is great as is Memory Bubbles and I'll give you Granada...but that's it! On to the track, they have a sound in there that sounds like an alarm went off in a Tesco when you tried to walk out without paying for your girl's maxi pads because you're embarrassed. Be a man. They know it's not for you. Is it buttercup? It's a positive, shiny track that's a little too full-on. Like if Erasure made goa. Goasia is one of those projects that you either love or you think they're cheese merchants. I think they're great. Sure they're a little quirky, but so is Uncle Ted. Just don't sit on his lap at Thanksgiving. And this track is quirky, but fun. I like that it keeps changing, always staying very lively. Not bad, if a little long. Filteria needs no introduction and he's earned his bones with four great albums, but I've never heard this track. Sounds very Heliopolis. There are several breaks so there's ample time to reorganize. Pretty good. M-run authored one of my favorite goa albums in Some Run Just For Fun, and with this long beast he gets crazy. It's fast paced, powerful and that lead is like dancing on the sun. Relentlessly psychedelic. Great track. Fragments of Evolution (also released on Spacedock) was a melodic and powerful tour de force and this track is no different. Plenty of motion and leads that leave char marks. The ManMadeMan remix of Prana's Boundless is one of the most psychedelic tracks I've ever heard. All power and bubbly liquid it's super intense and futuristic. Golden! Psychowave is heard from much (still haven't listened to his album yet), but the stuff I have heard was really good. Here he slays with writhing 303's and adds an operatic female voice. Gives it a layer of eerie above the power. Gets a little weird near the end and the strings don't quite fit. Other than that it's pretty great. Amber Mantra by Shakta was pretty obscure until Suntip put it on his release. Great old school track that hasn't lost any steam. Way to go Spacedock, you pretty much nailed it with this one. Spacedock Records Bandcamp

  10. Artist: Cactus Arising Title: The Remixes Ep Label: Timewarp Records Date: 2016 1. Radical Distortion - The Dreamer (Cactus Arising Remix) 2. Fiery Dawn - Mahakala (Cactus Arising Remix) 3. InnerZone - Universal Enlightenment (Cactus Arising rmx) 4. Spectrum - Medi teranno (Cactus Arising rmx) Cactus Arising is a Greek duo which had their debut Star Storm a few years ago and it uh...hmmm. Well let's just stay it failed to impress. So now they release a digital Ep of remixes on prodigious Timewarp Records. The Dreamer- The original on Suntrip's Opus Iridium by Radical Distortion was a smash with a superb lead melody. It never let up. This remix is a little more subdued but still contains good melodies. Mahakala- Fiery Dawn's track found on his Cosmic Ascension EP is a steady does of crackling 303. The remix is a layered treat that may rival the original. Furious! Good job! Universal Enlightenment- The next two tracks I have never heard so...blank canvas you know? It was a nice layered track, but had that...unfinished or raw quality. Decent, but not very distinctive. Medi Terrano- The little blurb on Discogs mentions that they like to close their sets with this track. And I can see why. There is a lot of energy here with a nice balance of power and dreamlike quality. Great track! While I wasn't a fan of their debut this little digital ep shows that they have talent and they understand that a remix isn't just a carbon copy. That alone endears them to me. While not superb, it's a good little ep and I look forward to their next album. Timewarp Records Bandcamp
  11. Artist: Vedama & Spies Title: Photonic EP Label: DAT Records Date: December, 2015 1. Vedama - Photonic 2. Vedama - Scanate 3. Spies - Ceremoniak 4. Spies - Backwash 5. Spies & Space Dimension - Ritual Rise 6. Spies - Backwash (Space Demon Remix) DAT Records have had an awesome run with nary a misstep haven't they? They just keep bringing back music that people clamor for and most times making it even better. Yeah I.F.O. was great...but a 3-CD I.F.O? NSFW *choir sings Hallelujah! Hallelujah!* Draeke could probably release his nephew's 6th grade piano recital and rack up sales. Not saying that he would, but *yells at nephew* "B flat! That's a B flat f*cker! We'll stay here all night! All f*cking night! You don't think Antic can't tell the difference between a B flat and an A sharp? Think again!" So I bought this EP with the Pleiadians and Opale (f*cking awesome by the way) EP and I'd never heard of these projects. Of if I had it went to the memory graveyard swimming in a pool of bong water or Doritos crumbs. Did I need it? Did I even give it a listen? Nope, but it's DAT so your just do it. Where the Opale EP was powerful melodic stuff that could've come from the mind of the Pleiadians or old Astral Projection, this is more of a crunchy style. Somewhat dark that blurs the line between goa and psy. Perhaps experimental where chances are taken with quality results. Backwash throws some tribal elements into the mix, but it gets truly psychedelic with the ever changing Ritual Rise and the Backwash Remix. While not my favorite DAT Records release (how could it be?) it's a solid psychedelic journey and might appeal to those who need a break from the classic goa sound. DAT Records Psyshop
  12. Artist: DNA Title: Virtual Jungle Label: Zion 604 Date: December, 2016 1.Chakra & Avi - Insignificant Form Of Life (DNA Remake) 08:14 2. Phreaky - The Second Moon (DNA Remake) 06:50 3.Joti & Avi - Etheogenic Spiral (DNA Remake) 07:46 4.Joti & Avi - Solid Bubbles (DNA Remake) 07:21 5.Dino & Avi - Tango Electro (DNA Remake) 07:53 6.Oli & Avi - Nuclear Fissionchips (DNA Remake) 06:59 "It's amazing!" No, it's not. But I'll get there. Zion 604 is a wonderful label which specializes in releasing hard to find goa trance or stuff that was never released. They do some artist stuff as well and for the most part have been (and rightly so) lauded for their efforts. Their latest is an update on an old-school album Virtual Jungle. Well...kinda. I mean 4 of the tracks are missing and they added Insignificant Form of Life. These aren't remixes just updates done by DNA, otherwise known as Dan Komen and Avi Alga..Avi Algaran...Space Cat. First let me say that this is far from my favorite goa album. The original was decent and quite good in places, but I could take it or leave it. I was gonna do a track by track review, but the more I listened to them the more I realized that what I was going to say for one track goes for all of them. The sound is much improved. Warmer and clearer with more punch. The groove is more out front and it sounds like something from Zion. I had forgotten some of these and it made me remember how psychedelic tracks like Solid Bubbles is. Here's where the disappointment comes in. Even though the sound is vastly improved now we have just ok tracks that sound better. I never listen to samples so I was hoping that they would do whatever juju magic they seem to have and make a diamond out of a zirconium. They did not. Mostly Couple things. Even though aurally it is super some of the tracks are missing that punch, that fury. The Second Moon is one of them. It's like they took the drama out of it. Nuclear Fissionchips wasn't a great track to start with, but the remake just made that more clear. Bottom line I think it's a good maxi-Ep (that's what it is), but with the quality of their output I cannot help but be a little disappointed that they didn't do more with this. One thing I will say...that cover is awesome. Zion604 Bandcamp
  13. Artist: Various Title: The Forum Label: Big Foot Records Date: 1997 1. BLT - Soul Sacrifice 2. Allto - Allto 3. Shell Shock - Sunshine on Tokyo 4. P. Cok - Stone 5. Cybel - Kondicaus 6. Cybel - Bizzar 7. Realistic - Hypnotic Dark 8. Deep Blue - Water 9. P. Cok - Beautiful Day Nice try, but trash can is to the left. Just wanted to pop in and say a few words about this. Certainly there have been worse goa trance compilations than this, but is that the bar we're setting for ourselves? Don't know about you, but ain't nobody got time for mediocre muisc, much less a whole damn album of it. Most of this is filler without anything remarkable. No big layers, no driving beats, no total sound immersion... Suppose a couple of tracks can be listened all the way through, but again...low bar. For a year that is one of the greatest as far as goa trance is concerned nobody's putting this in the hall of fame.
  14. Artist: Various Title: Gaia Tour Label: Futuria Productions Date: February, 1997 1. Manitu - Indian Summer 2. Bamboo Forest - Frogies Airline 3. Hilarium - Hilarium 4. Jaia - Tweested Zone 5. Fuzzy Logic - Spice Invader 6. Alkaloid - Electrode 7. Elixir - Four Dimensional 8. Section X - Jesus Krist 9. Ariane - Second Fly Man this one swung for the fences and boy did it connect! This is old school goa trance with wonderful storytelling. Ripping 303s and convoluted melodies hearken back to the good old days. There are just so many twists and turns. Even the tracks that perhaps didn't begin as well turned up the heat near the end. Now it's not without its blemishes of course. Jesus Krist wasn't very interesting, but what it lacked in detail it sure made up for in speed. The closer (made by the same duo) slowed things down to progressive tempo and didn't fit with the vibe of the rest of the album. But for the most part the CD is full of great tracks that we haven't beaten to death.
  15. Hello Everyone! With no further delays it is time to announce the tracklist for Mind Rewind 3. I also want to tell everyone that to wait for a couple of DAT tapes to be found, we had to postpone the release to late January. We did not want to use tracks ripped from vinyl, unless necessary and we could manage to track down all we needed from many different sources. Thus, with no other delays, here is what will be in the 3rd pro charity chapter of our adventure. Mind Rewind 3 CD1 Unreleased Alkaloid - Influx Blade - Anthropophagi Dharma 7 - Jubilation Little Blue Men - Dr. Snuggles Dilemma Magus - Black Holes (Re Mix) Mystery Machine - Psychedelic Concentration Opale - Lord of the Minds RA - Questions Shiva Chandra - Atmosphere Wizzy Noise - Pleione CD2 Vinyl Only Cosmosis - Emanations Deviant Electronics - Catacomb Doof - Let's Turn On (Tuned-In Mix) Encens - Howl GangGuru - X-3 Hiscore - Identify Hux Flux - Time Slices Kharma - Harmony Semsis - Soundvandal Ushuaya - 3 Months The funds from the sales of this release will once again be donated to the Charity helping kids in goa get basic education, called Mango Tree Goa. http://www.mangotreegoa.org/ Merry Christmas Everyone!!
  16. Just stumbled across this youtube vid of this 90's mix on EyeTech. Can somebody please tell me the name of the track at mark 25:00 ?
  17. Artist: Oliveira Title: Stellar Communication EP Label: Troll n Roll Records Date: January, 2016 01 - Oliveira vs Varanta - Stellar Communication (137 BPM) 02 - Oliveira - Hypnosis (146 BPM) 03 - Toxic Anger Syndrome - Trollskogen (Oliveira Remix) (149 BPM) I was initially drawn to this ep because of the beautiful cover. Very vivid and dreamy. Oliveira is from Sweden and this ep is described as psychedelic Scandinavian trance. All three tracks are indeed very psychedelic and on the light side. Please realize just because I said light doesn't mean simple or non-complex. They are all very lush and detailed. Stellar Communication bounces deftly through space remaining interesting throughout. Hypnosis is deep with effects and outer space sounds even if the tune itself isn't that memorable. The Trollskogen remix had a foresty vibe in it while not being forest trance. Not bad, but too much speaking kinda took some enjoyment away. BTW none of these tracks had any particular goa flavor despite the label. Decent ep with the title track being the star for me. Free at Ektoplazm
  18. Artist: Aquya Title: Liquid Touch EP Label: Tarapita Sounds Date: June, 2016 01 - Liquid Touch (139 BPM) 02 - Haunted Forest (140 BPM) 03 - Unreal (130 BPM) 04 - Feeling Sleepy (138 BPM) I haven't been reviewing stuff I've collected from Ektoplazm for awhile so I thought I'd change that. Aquya is from Estonia which I think is near the New Jersey turnpike. The blurb says he used to produce house and trance, but was lured to psy by attending parties "and states of mind." That last bit could not have been any clearer. The first track is a great exercise in 303 placement, with more squealing than that movie Uncle Ned was watching at Thanksgiving. Haunted Forest wasn't anything of the sort, but just some quality light goa. Unreal had a little too much real ordinary progressive and personally I don't believe you should call one of your tracks Feeling Sleepy if there isn't much going on. So all in all a decent little ep with gentle goa sounds at a more or less progressive tempo. Aside from the first track it's pretty much forgettable. Free at Ektoplazm
  19. Artist: Skizologic & Tsuyoshi Suzuki Title: Cosmic Creativity EP Label: HOMmega Productions Date: October, 2016 1. Cosmic Creativity 2. Tekno Tribe "I was invited to a party where I was given LSD...for the first time." Zion 604 has been a label steeped in quality with releases like Robotized, 12 Dimensions from Radical Distortion, Green Room by Deviant Electronics and the super compilation Flight 604 II. I hadn't really paid much attention to the digital side of the label, but for 3 bucks I decided to give it a whirl. Surprisingly this was released by HOMmega. Not a bad thing, just a bit of a shock. I'm more used to them releasing eye rolling full-on than goa. Only two tracks here, and for me the first one is the clear winner. It's pumping and bubbly and takes its time to evolve with nice lows and some piercing highs. All the while maintaining its swagger. Tekno Tribe was ok, but didn't have the gravitas I was looking for. Beatport
  20. Artist: Various Title: Goa Trance Revolution 2: Retrofuturism Label: Goa Trance Music Date: December, 2016 1. MK Ultra - Shivarathri 2. Athena - 20 Seconds 3. Spirit Dance - Telemetry 4. Indoor - Bom Shankar (Original 1995 DAT Version) 5. Shakta - Lepton Head (Veasna Remix) 6. Proxeeus - Tyca Tyca 7. Denshi Danshi - Leave The World Behind 8. Ephedra - Disappearing Dreams 9. Clementz - Circles I'm a little uncomfortable with German youth getting this excited. Hype. As long as people have been selling something, there has been hype. And you have to otherwise the masses won't know how great your product is. So many incredible inventions have simply ceased to exist because they didn't have a Flavor-Flav type hype man telling you how everyone is getting their product and if you don't then you'll be the only loser relegated to a lonely life in your cat urine stained one room apartment. Por ejemplo: "What the f*ck? Sheep sold separately? What a rip-off." So yeah hype is aggressive marketing. Our little music scene is no different. The labels have to get the word out otherwise they're gonna be left with a lot of backstock in mommy's basement. Which is why this compilation was so refreshing. Goa Trance Music isn't a label that releases a lot, but when they do you can rely on its quality. I don't recall a sh*tload of advertising here and the only reason I know about it is because of the forum here. Word of mouth is the best advertising they say so maybe those fine folks are on to something because this album is awesome. Like the previous version, this is a mix of old hard to find goa trance as well as some of today's artists. The older ones I had never heard of and they absolutely rip. Shivarathri is a blistering opener and Spirit Dance has that beach vibe that sweeps you up and carries you all the way through. So bouncy and melodic. You also get the full version of Indoor's Bom Shankar and while the track is fine it's the long break where its worth can be found. Bee-yoo-tiful. Throw in a very old track from Athena (Miranda) and it's like it's 1995 all over again. The new guys don't disappoint either with an impressive remix of Lepton Head. Proxeeus goes full India on Tyca Tyca and doesn't forget to bring his screeching 303. I'm uncertain whether the Denshi Danshi track is new or an old one, yet it is quite involved. Great to hear. The only track that didn't knock me over was Ephedra's Disappearing Dreams. Hands down the most mellow thing I have ever heard from him. The class of the new guys though has to be the closer Circles by Clementz. Where the hell did this guy come from? What a track! Intense and old school to the bone this is X-Dream reincarnated. So bottom line, this has to be one of the best compilations of 2016. No filler to be found with great mastering by the one and only Tim Schuldt. The artwork is retro also supplied by our good friend Ivan Richpa. Thumbs way up. Goa Trance Bandcamp
  21. Artist: Omnivox Title: Fragments of Evolution Label: Spacedock Records Date: June, 2013 1. Helios 2. Modus Operandi 3. What Happens Next 4. Liquid Fire 5. Eternity Speedway 6. Essentia 7. Moonwalk 8. No More Illusions 9. Nephandi 10. Weapon of Mass Enlightenment Ok that's just ridiculous. You'll be the first one to complain when a guy can't stare you in the face. Our cup truly runneth over people. 2014 has been an...It's just been an...excuse me... *runs over to model in gif and squeezes boobs screaming "honka honka!"* 2014 has been an exceptional year for goa trance. Rarely has so much quantity intersected with quality and for that we should be eternally grateful. And by grateful I mean reaching into your pocket and actually purchasing the hard work of the artists. The list of superb releases this year is too long to mention (the guy from listology seems to have thrown in the towel), but every label has contributed to this bounty. Suntrip, DAT, Cronomi, Timewarp, Neogoa...they all seem to be at the top of their game. So the sneaky f*cks at Spacedock tried to slide this under the radar, but I got ya. Wait a minute...You think I don't know what's going on here? Ok a little background...This is the debut album of Omnivox aka Tomislav Crncic. "That's your name? What's your real name? What was it before you changed it?" Tomislav Crncic. Really? Look at all those f*cking consonants! Ever heard of a vowel? Allright. That checks out. But did you know that Tomislav has "neighbors?" Several of them in fact. Does M-run ring a bell? How about Liquid Flow? I know this is off topic and no offense to Mr. Flow, but...that project name always makes me think of a chicks period. Gross. Change it. Now where was I? Oh, it gets better. Guess who else is his neighbor? Goasia. That's right, the same Goasia that started up a little label called Spacedock Records! They share internet connections. Calm down. It's in Croatia so that means that there is one tired as f*ck hamster on the hamster wheel. But having the stars of goa trance as neighbors? This would be like Kanye being my neighbor. "Hey Kanye can jump on some of that broadband?" "Yo Kanye, can I squeeze Kimmies sweater puppies?" "Yo Heezy, can I borrow a f*ckin' cup of sugar?" You see! Do. You. See? This confirms my theory that goa trance is the language of aliens and for whatever reason they landed in the Balkans. They hang out in groups, they use each other's communication devices...they are trying to take over and you guys are acting like everything's fine! *sniff sniff* Why do I smell alcohol? Aha! Right outta the playbook. What's the first things aliens do when someone discovers them? Douse them with alcohol! So the guy sounds like a lunatic! *Voice from the kitchen* "No it's because you're on your seventh beer you lazy f*ck! Now go take out the garbage like I asked you to an hour ago!" So back to Omnivox, he released an album back in the day called Inner Polarity as Vox. But Vox didn't sound anything like this. Well more than his name has changed. He's grown and I don't mean that in an eat your f*cking vegetables or you're not getting up from the table kinda way. He's gotten better as a producer (which is easy to do when you have one of your alien friends teach you the intricacies of Cubase) and found that hidden sweet spot where great melodies and danceability meet power. His Alien Humanity EP was the first hint of that change back in 2012 and it blew me away. Fast forward to 2014 and he's put together an entire album full of cosmic goa trance replete with atmospheric breaks and bludgeoning force. Right from the start Helios sets the tone with a great intro. This is straight forward pumping goa trance that will move you as it evolves continuously. It screams, growls with liquid sounds, and scorches. I can see the similarities with M-Run's style. The fact that it's another Balkan doing goa trance pretty much necessitates a drug test doesn't it? Babies in my country come outta the womb screaming and crying, over there they're booting up Soundforge. This is one goa trance release that has it all. Melodies, power, you name it. A great time. I haven't wanted to fornicate with an album like this since...since... "Honey they're doing it to me again!!!" Spacedock Psyshop Beatspace Mdk

  23. Artist: Masa Title: Son Ov A Seed Label: Hypnodisk Date: November, 2015 You may have noticed that I didn't provide the track list. Well, I had to listen to this nonsense so I felt that actually typing the titles would send me into a post-Vietnam PTSD rage that some of you might not survive. There are 19 tracks and I'm sure that I said "What in the unholy f*ck?" at least that many. Masa is Masayuki Kurihara from Japan and he's been around a looong while. You might recall his album Inside from 1996. I don't, but you might. He's had some tracks that I liked on some compilations, but this... First off it's broken up into two discs and contains stuff done as Masa and his alias X-Tron. A few of the tracks are previously released, but put out again as live versions. It's got that gritty, raw feeling to it that sometimes veers into pretty noisy territory. This feels like a collection of tracks scooped up from the cutting room floor that weren't able to make any album cuts. And there's no mystery here. Straight ahead all the way. It's not all turds and kidney stones though as tracks like Nu Experience and Master & Margarita (Live At Rainbow 2000 '96) bounces nicely with some twisting layers. But over 20 bucks for maybe two tracks I'd really enjoy? Hypnodisk Bandcamp
