  1. Optimism is great, though, blind optimism may have drawbacks. I'm not judging
  2. Looking forward to the decathlon events!
  3. I have this in my collection, already, curious how different it will sound, assuming it's a remastered release.
  4. Hi, I'm Al [short for Alvin, hence the nickname] I've been poking my nose in these boards for a while, mostly looking at the reviews of some albums. Thought I'd finally sign up. I've been into goa for as long as I can remember, was around 8 when I first heard Koxbox's work and I've been hooked ever since, though, back then my access to music was very limited. I had 2 tapes [Yes, the old tapes!!] that I managed to fill with some Koxbox/Miranda/Hallucinogen/Cosmosis/Man with no Name and probably some others too and play it back on the radio set I nicked from my neighbour. Well, I had to listen to "normal music" when I was in school, cuz...you're not allowed to be different, you get the idea. Been in trouble with bad lifestyle: drugs, thievery. I'm 25 now, I'm clean, attending uni and enjoying some good ol' goa while I'm at it
  5. Last time I was following F1 was when M. Schumacher lost his 7th consecutive title, against Alonso I think, he was SOOO close but couldn't overtake him in the end. My favourite period of the sport is the end of 90s. I was like 8-9, watching Häkkinen kick everyone's asses.
  6. I have a 2 tb ext. harddrive filled to the brim with goa/psy. The legit part of which is numerically worth about 1k €. I have no idea what it would really be worth, though. The CDs I used to own are all unusable since I played the crap out of them back in the day. I don't have any dedicated machinery to play vinyls. That's to say, I used to hold a "discogs.com" collection, but prefer it to be somewhere more accessible.
  7. I can see "Khetzal - Corolle" becoming a timeless classic, if isn't already. "Agneton - Wizards from the future" is a nice introduction to the genre, too, could definitely see people talking about it in the years to come. "Alieniapia - Goapocalipsis" is another one that pops to mind.
  8. The only thing I regret about being a "psy person" is the time I was doing drugs and all that trouble that followed with it. W/e, I've been clean for years now, attending uni and doing lots of other "normal person" stuff. Where I live [Estonia] it's not really "socially acceptable" to be open: people just think you are weird/clingy and conjure up other (ridiculous) prejudices about someone they don't even know. I used to share that view, until I went to live in Australia for a while. There was a psytrance fest called "The Rainbow Serpent", where I met a lot of people I could relate to/connect with. Not sure if being into goa makes me a "psy person", but I still feel isolated in Estonia: no psytrance communities [goes back to what I was explaining earlier about it not being socially acceptable to be open about even your preferences], let alone parties, though, I'm not really about that life. The only way I can function at a party is if I'm high/drunk but don't want anything to do with that any longer.
  9. Trying to drill through the desk with a pen. Broken 2 already :< Something tells me, it's not going to work.
  10. Played through Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic 1&2. Solid rpg experience, now I'm back to my roots: racing. Need for speed Underground 1&2 standing in line
  11. If you decompose a psytrance track into its bare components, there is nothing really that stands out: samples, filters, rhythm to name some. Is it complex? No, it isn't. The appeal of psytrance lies in the artist's, call it, ingenuity to piece those components together. Does good music have to be complex? Nope!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KgpEru9lhw There is nothing technically difficult, yet it's so amazing to listen to!
  12. Yes! The amount of music released is just overwhelming, so what do we do? We read reviews and choose based on people's "general opinion" on any given album.. and something you might really like will just slip the net.
  13. Personally, I feel there's no line necessary. I won't categorically decide to what I listen and not. It's all about whether a given track appeals to me or not. On another note: the whole purpose of nitzhogoa is to blend different styles into one. Drawing a line seems a bit redundant.
  14. I'd say yes. It's 2016 and I'm still blasting Koxbox Most of the new "goa" that is being released just doesn't work for me. There is this "nitzhogoa" or "nitzhonot" or whatever it's called: its plus side is the major role of Middle-Eastern, Oriental-esque melodies, but after a while, I get bored of it and go back to 90s goa: something that still manages to excite me.
  15. It's a 5.1 system, though have to keep the sub-woofer down to not wake the neighbours at night :<. The way it works is: if I listen to goa trance, everybody within 50m radius listens to goa trance.
  16. i never understood the fascination with "RA - 9th". The intro is great and the track following, but I just don't feel the rest of it, perhaps I need to listen to it again. Earlier work of RA is much more enjoyable. Then there's "Cybernetika - The scythe of Orion" that received praise, again, I don't feel that album at all.
  17. I remember hearing a supposed IM track called "Spiritual trance", which was good, but there was a problem, it didn't sound like any IM I looked into like..at all. So this "Spiritual trance" is actually I just can't get into IM from any angle, their production is not exciting or memorable. [i do like Heavyweight, but that's not really up my alley] Why are they so succesful? Any and all "commercial crap" [to be precisely defined] receives a big audience. Shallow nature of the masses. Good things like Goa trance are meant for the select few, we're fine
