i think the style overall, the choice of 303 (what i mean by "choice" is obviously how they/he/she tweak it and mix it) and also much of the leads and melodies are reminiscent of old stuff from like Phantasm from mid 90s. Mindfield is one artist that comes to mind as this reminding me of. The mixing too; is much more old school than new school; to my ears. Its warmer and not very digital sounding at all; where much of new school lies... again this is for that other thread btw old school to me doesnt mean better, by any means. i much prefer new school these days to old. naturally, since ive heard the old stuff about a billion times already. ** but yes, its to me much more old than new, this one, in terms of style, mixing, and just general artistic choices. (rather simple hypnotic repetetive melodies and not too much 1/8D delays all over the place.) this may be the first album ive heard , ever, that actually sounds like NEW old school. btw, this album is absolutely incredible.... nice to find a gem like this completely by accident. ** this is for that other thread but, for example filteria who uses all old school gear - but yet produces pure New school music - i think the other way can ofc be very true - using modern software to create old school. So by "digital sounding" i dont necessarily mean it was made on software and not analog gear. its all about the creative choices you make in production and mixing... but yeah this should be in that other thread..

this album is incredible! ive just barely begun listening to it, the 303s are out of this world, reminds me so much of old school 303s like Mindfield and Astral Projection used to use. in fact so does alot of things in this album.. very old schoolish vibes!

that is one excellent and refreshing comment. the first music i ever made was with ReBirth. what does it mean though? Does hardware/software have nothing to do with what is new and old school ? im enclined to believe, no. but certainly its part of it. software then wasnt nearly as good as software now. and software now is what make artists like nova fractal, and artifact303 so damn good. but artifact303, im not even sure if that is all software........ nova fractal i do know, and to me that is some of the best Goa Trance that exists today. i dont care the slightest if it sounds software..and its damn near the definition of new school to me... while artifact303 is somehow borderline to the old school ? i dont know, im not making any sense. nova fractal - common cold for example. thats one of the tracks id put as top 3 neogoa of all time... and it sounds software as hell and nowhere near the quality of artifact303 - feelings - yet i still rank it as top 3 with that one. its a strange thing - music.

Swedish hip hop at its finest. Although this specific track was done in English and produced by a guy from Poland iirc. Mix and Master is absolutely flawless. sadly the rap itself is not one of his better. Another superb one, Swedish production too, his rap here is about 100x better. If I had to chose, this one wins, easily.

yeah, but quazar to me (and a few others here) seem to be the one. i completely agree that RA isnt new school (although i do see the merit in him being so) and ethereal is borderline at best

we did find that point though, and its 2001 and SynSUN -Quazar. unless you got a better once in mind Ethereal - all systems are go and RA - To sirius were also great suggestions.

all you said is pretty much spot on, and also what i feel the differences are except this little line here. I think no newschool track- ever- can compete with the heart racing moments some of the old school can. I can make a list of at least 10 tracks - that in my mind cannot be topped (or at least, have not been topped yet) (for example AP stuff from dancing galaxy, hallucinogen stuff from lone deranger, etc etc. not to mention one-hit wonders like juan,domi,jorg - spiritual healing remix, pigs in space - solar, and the absolute stormer that is p.cok - double doper) artifact303, e-mantra and filteria in all glory - they just dont outdo those old school classics. (my humble opinion, by no means facts) with that said i also still enjoy new school more now, than i ever did
