  1. Kind of matches Remember an interview with Ralf Hütter (the guy on left on the video above) where they talked about why Karftwerk sounds like it sounds. Short version: after war german entrainment industry was gone. Instead of building a new one, they largely adapted to the American culture. There were very few, to no, successful german artists, but radio was full of US bands. As they started with Karftwerk they wanted to created something different from the US/UK sounds. They wanted to sound 'german' for being recognized as a german band around the world. This were their "static" show with almost no movement on the stage is coming from and also this very strict sounds are a result of it. So you'r right - comes out of that typical german rigidity/stiffness they were trying to convert into something that sounds like music
  2. It think it's because the whole electro-sounds have a long tradition in germany. Do you know Kraftwerk ('70s)? They were the first band every having success with electronic beats. Lot of other artists learned from them, not only restricted to electronic stuff, e.g. you can still find a lot of Karftwerk-like sound on today's pop and hiphop. In germany a whole new subculture came out of this, with more and more artists joining. That's what I mean with "tradition", german pop/funk/whatever was has never been a success compared to other countiers. While on the US/UK bands like the Beatles or the funk-guys (James Brown & co) where spreading inspiration, in germany it was Kraftwerk and the early techno guys they inspired. This electro-focus still carries on to the present. Berlin for instance is proably the most interesting city to life at if you'r on an electronic genre, simply because of the huge amount of clubs and artists arround there. [edit] had to add this.. somehow funny how those 'old' guys still run their show after about 40+ years on the bizz =) If you listen to it you probably hear where this clean/defined/sharp German style of electronic beats has its roots
  3. Just to make it clear once again.. I don't support anyone taking drugs, nor I discourage him. It's his. and only his decision.. if my posts sound like advertising it I'm sorry for, it's just my personal experience I share.. if you'r in doubt it's the better option to don't take it .. but back to topic
  4. man.. this is the last reply I do on any of your post.. it's ridiculous. Where did I wrote anything about harm or unhealthmess of drugs? I wrote that if you take some of that e0vl stuff techno will start to sound like psytrance, and for me the really big drugs didn't do any harm.. but don't know what really big drugs are.. as there are huge differences from between lsd to ketamin for instance when it comes to the toxic effects on your body or what longterm influence it has on the neural network in your brain...
  5. Read my post again, or better.. understand it before you flame it and stop taking about stuff you have no idea about. You say you never did more than somking a joint (and I beleve you), so how do you want to know how electronic music sound like if you'r on drungs? Or better, how do you know that psy doesn't? And about the rest of the bla.. quote of my post above: > At end you need to know what brings the psychedlic expierence to you if its headphones and a good soundcard for you, great.. I don't care, I just hate ppl takling about stuff they have no idea about. It's like an illiterate discussing about literature
  6. True words.. I'm not really into the goa scene that much and so I don't know if this is a hot topic there, but on the night/fullon/dark/twilight/how ever you call it piece of the psytrance scene this is just no topic at all. It's like you say, take it or don't, coudn't care less. At end you need to know what brings the psychedlic expierence to you - you are probably looking for if you join such events and if it is good or bad for your own mind. Also know a lot of thoses people that changed their way of live quite signifantly after taking the hippie-drug the first time (and I'm one of them), but I must say that only very few of them changed in a negative direction. So I don't agree with the "your life is over if you touch it".. yes my old way of life way over, but a better one began (this is NO push to anyone.. if you understood it like that read the first chapter agian). And about psy/goa artist that admit that they never took anything (not that I ever asked, or know one).. I either don't believe it, or must say that they choose the wrong genre. Reminds me on a good a quote "psytrance is the kind of music that sounds better or drugs, isn't it? No, it's the kind of music that sounds like drugs". So what the hell are they doing on such a gerne full of flyhigh hippies if they have no idea how the audience percepts their music... I mean the only worse group of ppl I know when it comes how much drugs are consumed on a party are the free-tek folks, so quite strange if some artist lies on this because of his reputation.. it wouldn't make a difference if he answers differenty.
  7. you just didn't read the description.. it's an Agitato Hulk-Hogan shirt, made to rip apart to impress the chicks while dancing xD
  8. yeah, forgot about to try doing anything with the mouse, but pushing buttons and moving knobs on an APC or so works, also if the APC starts morphing *g*
  9. Don't agree on this. It doesn't work if your about to tweak synth knobs, EQ'ing or other stuff where you need to pay attention to a specific part of the track. You simply lose yourself listening to stuff you shouldn't and generally everything sounds way better than if you listen to it the day after. But it might help a lot during arranging and early composing. If you setup your rack/DAW beforehand in a way that makes it easy to just dump out ideas on your brain into an audio lane, durgs can help, as you don't really need to think about how to continue.. if the track reaches the end, the sound on speakers stops, but the sound inside on your brain doesn't. So just dump out what's playing there
  10. Can't help you neither, but try uploading it to mixcloud. If it is a commercial release it might be able to id it
  11. check out BazzISM, way faster/easier than doing manual layering and EQ'ig. Can't tell you the knob values exactly, but I'm sure you will able to get it out of it pretty quickly if you are close already (so you have a rough idea about length, sweep, lower and upper frequency already, rest is fine-tuning), use your current pretty-close-eq setting on top
  12. Artist: Dust Album Name: I Don't Like Psychedelics ... xD
  13. nice idea.. xD Fullon: Progressive: Goa: Darkpsy:
  14. Agree with you =) Moved here from Italy and it's really quite a difference.. cost of living is nearly same as is Italy, often even less (everything around cars for instance), but income is way higher (for doing the same job). Ofc there are ppl around complaining about how bad everything is.. but actually I think they just never moved out their own country to see how things work somewhere else.. Only thing that's quite expensive in Germany is energy/electricity, but I'm perfectly fine with what.. as it costs more because they are about to replace all the nucalear and coal plants with wind turbines and solar panels ("Energiewende" and EEG...).. happy to sponsor that.. so go ahead^^
  15. hmm.. there are a lot I could name..^^ but if I have to name one it's probably Electrypnose Difficult to always stay up to date with this guy as he releasing really a lot of stuff all over the genres... ranging from ambient to darkspy. Why he is innovative to me? He doesn't sound like somebody else.. not even close Really like his unique style - sounds bit like he just wants to make his own thing and doesn't much care about what's hyped right now.. the result are some really fuzzy tracks... sounds you can't find nowhere else.
  16. np always happy to work with others.. and if something usefull comes out of it even better ;D
  17. try sylenth1's (VTSi) 303 arp's.. think some might be pretty close,
  18. kk found it.. was listening for much sharper noise.. just needed a break.. it's what I'm writing.. after listening to my metalic sounds for hours you don't hear those warm noises anymore.. .D > id say not bad for one days of work im fairly done atm i think. definitly, like it =)
  19. way more housey like it about the side-chain, add a long noise-sweep, like using a cymbal and steching it over 1 bar. Than add a side-chain comp to with a good amount of release, By that you get that typical ducking noise of house that sweeps up or down over a pretty long period of time, but ducks with the kickdrum...could be that's already there but can't hear it.. time stop making sound for me today.. ear overload.. xD
  20. oh and forgot about one thing also is present on a lot of tracks and almost always sounds cool, especially when going into a break: the "dub-dealy". That delay effect that gets slower/faster or pitches up/down.. kind of like used on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjUypQZ1l5k on the break around 4:00
  21. Thanks man Nice to hear that my stuff finally starts to sound professional... was a long way I'm using Ableton Live, but don't really use a lot of the DAW instruments. It's mainly the filters and compressor (the Ableton comp sounds really nice IHMO). Rest of it is made with 3rd party or own plugins. I'm more of a technician (work as a software developer ) than a musican.. spend way more time on designing sounds or coding own effects than actually composing. Mean.. I don't know any of the music scales by heat, but how to FFT it and find out what harmonics are most prominent on the spectrum... xD kk.. going to add a goa-like 303 acid-line ARP on the next buildup *g*
  22. Not into house production that much, but what's prominent on almost all track is a strong open hihat in between the kicks with long release/decay, almost going on until the next kickdrum hits -- with a "weak" snaredrum, often even only a closed hihat on every 1st kick and a strong snaredrum on every second. It's difficult to explain what I mean.. to me the very typical element of house tracks is that powerfull percussion stuff. It's not about playing with too many instruments, but more about making them really prominent on the track. They probably work a lot with reverbs and compression on the drums, but only speculating as never did a house track so far. If you have that basic grove, bring some variation into to, using claps, bongs ect as you want Think it's the easiest way to look for a video where one shows how to build that basic electro-house-grove percussion loop and extend it with whatever sounds good to you =) Yeah noise sweep man!! That's actually the thing I don't like on house.. some noise sweeping up or down on every fucking single bar... xD Good trick on this is to use a side-chained compression with the kickdrum. So you get this ducking on the noise every 1/4 bar, also known from a lot of tracks
  23. First I would put some time on the percussion - already sounds more "housey" than original, but percussion tracks on house are really really important and they must follow that typical house-grove, otherwise it won't be recognized as house by most ppl *g* Next are some house-like breaks. The noise-sweep, super-saw coming in/moving out, ect. Than add some housey synths, those short shots every 1bar or faster if your want, delayed or revered that bring this bom, bom, bom, bom, pewpew, bom, bom, bom, bom, pewpew house grove =) Let me listen to if you have an update =) And in the meanwhile, I capture the thread to make a generic "some ideas" thread xD https://soundcloud.com/mfr/zero-point-module-smell-the Some nightime fullon psy I'm working on right now.. let me know your ideas how to continue or improve the track
  24. Same where - also enjoy listening to good old tracks, there are some that just never become boring. About the creativity on a genre.. have a theory about, but that can't prove it It's the $$$. On new or subculture/underground genres you find a lot of artists that make music just because of the fun. They want to express their ideas and shared it with others, that's the strongest drive behind. Lots of them aren't fulltime artists, they have normal jobs but spend every free minute on making music. Only very few of them can actually life from their music, simply because of the small communities and their sounds not designed to all to fit the "mainstream". This changes if a genre or even some artists on it start to become popular. Suddenly you find more and more artists that also want to make their living from making underground music, but they still have the problem from above. So what they do is learning (not saying "copying") from the successful gyus and you end up on a genre with 10k artists, all playing the same sounds. Just a theory.. don't know if makes sense. But to me, if a genre becomes popular/mainstream, it almost always means that's time to move on, as more and more will try to make their music fit for the majority of the listeners, instead of doing what makes fun to them.
  25. For me this changes quite often. I have been listening to the electronic stuff since I can think of, but it was a long way.. started with the early german techno stuff, than I moved over to trance, hard-trance and finally ended up with listening to hardcore (was a hyped here around 2000) quite a lot for some time. Than the first minimal (as known from today) acts came up and I moved over... slowing finding into prog psy and finally ending up with night / fullon psy as of today What drives me listening to new music... hmm... very good question^^ Don't really know.. the wish to hear something new? I usually end up on a genre/style being bored about that tracks start sounding same, can't find new innovative tracks.. and that's usually the time when I start listening to other stuff. If I find something I like I will look for more artists and so it goes on^^ So at least for me these changes aren't slightly over years, but more of a regular cycle *g* (although the psytance cycle now already lasts pretty long and doesn't seem to end that soon as there so much variety on that genre as probably nowhere else^^)
