  1. I live near Birmingham in the UK. Most parties locally play full-on, with a bit of prog and the very occasional dip into darker stuff. This month though, we have a Retro-Goa night coming up at Kanyini. (Yay!)
  2. Sounds like it could have been a track left off the last album, but it's nice enough. I look forward to hearing the rest of the tunes.
  3. Got my copy yesterday. Great album! I thought Shaltu was slightly wide of the mark, but this one is Suntrip back at it's best! Excellent!
  4. My copy arrived yesterday, thanks! Great collection of tunes!
  5. I like the idea of more fully supporting artists by buying from their own site or bandcamp / label sites and I'm doing it more & more, but there are two drawbacks to this the way I see it: Firstly it's not easy to find the releases, unless you search for the artist, (I only found out that Whrikk had released a limited CD, by stumbling across a photo on Facebook by accident today,) but I like so many, in different genres of psy, that I don't have the time to check each one individually for new CDs. The big advantage of Arabesque, Beatspace & Psyshop is that all the new releases are there for me to peruse and order several at a time when they appear on the listings. Secondly, I'm not keen on sending payments to individuals all over the globe that I don't know, with no history of reliable trading and it's far more troublesome e-mailing payments to several parties and then keeping track of all your orders when you buy a lot of music every month. That said, If this is the only viable way for some artists to afford to release CDs, I'm all for it if the only other option is download only! I'm fully in support of Suntrip's idea of limited runs sold through the label shop only, if it means I can get my hands on more albums in a physical format. I've certainly bought the InnerSpace & Dimension 5 limited editions.
  6. Zion 604 is becoming an awesome label! I've massively exceeded my CD purchase quota for this month , but as soon as payday rolls back round I'll pre-order.
  7. Same here. (except I'm a bit older than 30! ) I love collecting CDs - and I can't bring myself to pay for a downloaded file. I reckon if the CD dies out totally, I'll stop buying music and just download free stuff. I know that's not good for the artists, but I don't see a download as something of any worth. No different to a pirated copy in my eyes - call me old fashioned... I enjoy getting new albums in the post and checking out the sleeves almost as much as listening to them. There's no excitement to downloading.
  8. Loving Blomma too! (And Animals was a masterpiece.)
  9. Was shocked and saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. First saw Slayer at the Birmingham Odeon in 1987 on their Reign In Pain tour. They were so intense, just awesome and Reign In Blood remains one of my absolute favourite albums of any genre. It was perfection and has never been bettered, IMHO.
  10. I buy all my music on CD from online stores or label websites.. I'm not interested in downloads, I want something more tangible for my money. I love the artwork and packaging and the excitement of new albums arriving in the post.
  11. I think there's far too much reliance on Middle-Eastern / Arabic style melodies in much of the new Goa. It wasn't so prevalent in the '90s music and I find it tiresome after a while.
  12. True. I wonder how many of us are still only interested in owning the original CD? I am, but I'm pretty sure I'm in a small minority these days.
  13. I think the popularity of the Goa sound depends a lot on location. It's really not big in the UK now, but enough to put on occasional "Retro Goa" nights. (There's Kanyini in Birmingham on 29th June, with Lunar Asylum playing, amongst others.) Many party goers these days weren't around to enjoy Goa at its height in the 90s (I was a regular at Brum's Spacehopper) and don't like the melodies when compared to the more pounding groove & fx style of today's full-on, dark, forest etc. Luckily, some of us love both! There are healthy "Nu-school Goa" appreciation threads on other psy forums, but that doesn't necessarily translate into much in the way of UK parties, which is a shame. I have to get my fix from buying as many Goa CDs as I can!
  14. I buy most of my Cds from Arabesque via Amazon's marketplace, tbh. In most cases it's the fastest delivery and cheapest option in the UK. For releases they don't offer, Psyshop and Beatspace get my orders (and Saikosounds used to on occasion), but with the more limited runs and distributor avoidance in evidence these days, I'm starting to purchase albums through Bandcamp and labels' own sites such as Suntrip and Parvati.
  15. Thanks. I thought that must be the case.
  16. Have Saikosounds ceased trading? The site has been down for a while now, but I've heard no news. Did a quick search on here, but didn't find anything...
