Ah those were days. I lost so much weight when it stopped from the sudden reduction in popcorn.

Artist: Carbon Based Lifeforms Title: MOS 6581 Remixes Label: Leftfield Records Released: 2016/5/13 https://carbonbasedlifeforms.bandcamp.com/album/mos-6581-remixes Tracklist 1. MOS 6581 (Hardfloor remix) 06:53 2. MOS 6581 (Ajja remix) 07:52 3. MOS 6581 (Saafi Brothers remix) 10:13 4. MOS 6581 (Live version) 06:44 For me at least MOS 6581 is Carbon Based Lifeforms most iconic track, it’s a standout track on Hydroponic Garden which itself was a standout album and it’s no surprise that if they were going to release and EP of remixes it would be this track. Here we have 4 remixes of MOS 6581 in a variety of styles, so don’t expect a mini story or flow to the EP, it’s basically a tool for DJs of different styles to get the lush & chill melody of this track in to sets of different styles and push CBL’s brand recognition a little bit. Overall I was very happy with this, all remixes are pretty much what I want from a remix, the original track is recognizable but it’s been made in to a different style of music. The Hardfloor remix has a great complementary sub melody, a stronger beat than the original and a lot of little trippy sounds interwoven through the track. The main melody sounds like it has more reverb adding a little more to the ethereal atmosphere. The Aija remix is more housey with a steady beat and energy. It puts me in mind of listening to MOS 6581 in a Spanish beach bar in the early evening. It’s got a little bit of guitar, brighter melodies than the original while retaining some of the darkness of the original. There’s a very brief appearance of the sample later on but it sounds more like a distant conversation. The Saafi Brothers remix starts softly becomes a slow powerful track. There are glitchy sounds coming over the main melody which is played slightly differently at different stages of the track. It’s the longest here at over 10 minutes but is good value for it and it really doesn’t feel that long but it does end quite abruptly where I thought it was going to continue. The Live Version is great. It builds up really well, starting off with just percussion and a light melody, shortly followed by the sirens and more atmospheric sounds. By the time the melody comes in it feels emmense, dropped at just the right time to give a lover of this track tingles. Overall it’s a good EP of remixes. If you like MOS 6581 then this will be a nice addition for you as all 4 tracks are varied enough to make listening to them all in a row a pleasure rather than fatiguing. Any DJs of more upbeat styles might like putting some of these in their sets.

Anyone that subscribed after reading that unstable psychobabble on his bandcamp page should have expected trouble. Good. I was looking forward to seeing his reply. I didn't expect him to close everything. Maybe I hit a nerve.

But I want to know what is better than a poke in the eye with a shitty stick!

What happened to these pages? Did he finally implode with impotent rage?

Oh yeah, I just remembered the clipping. My CD plays fine, but doesn't rip the last track.

I thought I had a lot of time on my hands. Does this guy ever stop changing his Facebook profile picture? It's a shame his repressed homosexuality makes him lash out like a whiny little bitch

Did you have the same issue? Maybe a begging email is in order

They went bankrupt recently and had that volcano erupt. Apart from that I know they have a tiny population but their football team is really good at the moment.

10 years ago HMV and Tower Records had 1000s of psy CDs. There used to Psytrance only shops. I remember the day I went in to Shibuya to visit my favourite Psytrance shop and it had closed down and had becone :( another crappy teenage girl clothes shop. The best shop now is disc union that has a mix of new and used CDs and vinyls. Occasionally you'll just find something fantastic, like Ambiant Otaku. The problem is that they got better knowledge now and it's harder to find the gems for dirt cheap these days.

I was about to buy this but then I found it in my CD collection. How could I have forgotten I bought it?? It's great and needs more play time. I tried ripping these CDs to FLAC and the last track just refuses to rip. Extremely frustrating

Yep and just plain wrong. It's why I'll never get a dog in this country despite the fact that they are brilliant.

I was amazed when I first came to Japan in 2003, on the news they showed the baseball scores. You know the type, if you don't want to know the scores look away now. But instead of a computer screen changing to show the scores, they had a guy with a big bit of card with the scores covered by tape, then he removed the tape to shoe the scores. This was 2003, two thousand and fucking three!! They only started using computer screens a few years ago. I shit you not, Japan can be backward as shit. Up until 10 years ago, in Yokohama the biggest single city in the country, some houses didn't have indoor plumbing, they had cess pits and a truck came round to remove their shit from their house.

I was looking forward to this but I've given it two casual listens so far and nothing has struck me as being above average. I might need to give it a more focused listen and get in to the details to enjoy it as the casual listens revealed nothing like I've been hearing about this, it's been more a wall if noise with no movement or direction. I'm hoping it gets better on repeat listens, now I just need to give it a chance.

A lot of families have them too. While I want a dog, I'll never get one in Japan. It's not a doggie paradise. Most people live in the cities but even in the countryside it's illegal to allow your dog off the leash. It's cruel to keep dogs tied up, they need to run and play.

Should've been ready with some strong tranquillisers. They couldn't wait, you just don't know what might happen, but shooting the poor thing dead was unnecessary.
