Just wondering what you all would recommend, for an American loose in the UK. Im thinking of possibly taking a trip to England this summer, and Id like to know what you think I should check out! I dont mean just parties, but nice/cheap places to eat/stay/travel to, visit etc. A buddy of mine was in London summer '05 and had a blast, so my interest has been piqued! Thanks all and have a nice day!

Im gonna have a great big ol' stack o cds waitin for me tomorrow, when I get home! I spent close to 150 bux, and traded some nice people around here for some more, and a friend is... passing on... some... new stuff.... And, still pending on my Paypal (not enough bux in the bank): VA_Slow Release (Open Recs) :D

It occured to me that I have indeed encountered elitism... I have only one thing to say to that: Its not MY job, to accomodate YOUR hangups. Im not about to bend over backwards to avoid presenting YOU with something YOU find distasteful. Its your problem if something bothers you, not the thing that bothers you. If it bothers you, you probably should come to terms with it, then it wont bother you anymore. Is that so hard, and is that too much to ask?

a pretty funky breaks mix from a local dj. I was in the mood for something different! Just what I was looking for... -
Love it Love it Love it Love it !!!! Trk 8 for me is my favorite at the moment.. Such a wonderful album, definitely going to have to pick up more from Sensient...

I put it as erratic, mainly in reference to mixes. If you're playing a 3+ hour mix theres plenty of space in there for builds, drops, and consistency. Plus every dj is different, and like to do different things in a mix. Personally I like to start out about mid-tempo/power, then get a bit faster and more energetic, then a bit more mellow, trancey and spaced out, bringing it all to a head about 3/4 of a way through. At least this is how it ends up, I rarely if ever plan a mix out in that kind of detail. As for comps, I never really thought much about it, but Id say I prefer comps that have more than just one direction (up, down, all around;) ).

I'll have a nice Renoise shot for ya soon! Not as pretty as some of these, but it works. For now. -
Just as they eye sees things as large only with something small to compare it to. Like if you look really close up to a ladybug you can really freak yourself out!

the last time I had a professional hearing test was last year sometime, and everything was fine, I even got a pretty high score. Ive been keeping the monitor volume lower, last night I noticed it was actually pretty loud.
-
I cant hear a thing when they're on. But thats how they should be, right? They muffle the ambient noise of the room even when theres nothing coming through them. I can have a conversation with the headphones off my head, and playing, in a normal voice without having to speak up too much. They do sound pretty loud when you're not in them. Just the percussion and highs usually, and they're never THAT loud...
-
How about normal volume levels, like listening at home? I dont play on speakers very often. Which is what worried me, Im always in the headphones. It sounds kinda loud when the headphones are off, but when they're on it seems fine... I know that this is deceiving, and the ears get used to such things. My speakers sadly went the way of the dodo... maybe the amp as well...

none of the above ever happen despite the fact that I can take the headphones off and use them like small speakers! I thought Id make sure, I didnt think anything was wrong. No ringing, no itching!
-
A buddy of mine is convinced that Im going to be deaf soon due to mixing in headphones all the time. Im not so sure, it seems to me the headphones are just of a broader frequency range and therefore you can hear a lot more, and clearer. But I dont know! Usually the monitor level on the mixer is only up a maximum of 1/3. If I monitor at that level when mixing on speakers, I cant even hear it. Anyone have any info or experiences related to headphones and hearing?
