  1. I've had another few listens and I have to say these guys have taken a step further than the time had. This is mature music of the near future, and I'm not talking about psy, chill, dub - these terms just loose their sense and look miserable on the background of this album. Just look at the ratings at discogs: 4.8/5 (64 votes), 56 of 64 are 5/5!
  2. Yeah, and the "DJs took pills to stay awake and play for seven days..."? I miss it so much.
  3. Terrence Mckenna and of other gurus. At least not again same stuff.
  4. Most of the time in the background when working or studying, but I think thats not the best thing to do. I go like :posford: sometimes, but more often like and press next. Depends on the music, of course. If I waited for an album for months, I sit down and absorb the vibrations carefully I may notice something from background listening, put it aside and listen in the sitting mode.
  5. I think ethno chill sounds boring, because everybody produces it on their laptops instead of real instruments. When ethno/folk music was formed there was no electricity Overused ideas. I'm sure holding any instrument in your hand gives you wider imagination than placing bars on your display.
  6. Albums for smoother journeys that lead you deeper There exceptions among compilation and albums, but all in all albums are more interesting experience.
  7. Yes, exactly. And that's why I like good-formated articles, posts and reviews - you are able to track down the needed part, read it and leave the stuff you aren't interested in.
  8. Yeah, when will we get the results ?
  9. Actually, Nystagmus' chilled-out side project Anahata released an album in 2007 and another one is in the pipeline. Check it out. Also, the next Zenon's release is going to be a chill compilation. I'm also bored with most ethno stuff, because it all sounds alike and mostly same samples are used, but you have to look wider and deeper, there's still plenty of nice pure ambientish electronica out there, even in the psy-scene, you only have dig
  10. Check Trold and Braincell @ Glowing Flame Records.
  11. With absence of RAH and DP, with Basilisk busy developing and promoting Ektoplazm, there are too few reviews. I started reviewing and began with Troll Scientists and M.E.E.O., they are not the best albums, but surely deserve being noticed. I want to continue and encourage others to write reviews Before that, I'd like to know what you people think about reviews in general, expect from them, how do you see them and, well, do you even need and read them? Who joins the New Review Alliance? :posford:
  12. So... will you update your 2007 musical review? I'm sure you heard more releases now, maybe we'll discover something new
  13. With time I liked this more. It has potential, Antix moved to another territory and I'm pretty sure their next encounter will be better. UPD 17 April. OK. I like it A very mature album. Nothing grew on me as much as this one did.
  14. Your top 5 consists of full on only and you'll be the first to get banned, you know. I advice to edit your top asap, or it will be too late. 9 hours left.
  15. Last year it took about 2 months to count down the results. To speed up the process, I'm offering my help. I don't know who will do everything (moni?), but if you've got little time, msg me. I'm so sorry for people that will get banned because they stated full on in their top 5's... Joking.
  16. Top 5 according to me Psytrance. 1. Goasia - From Other Spaces (Suntrip Records) 2. VA - Twist Dreams (Suntrip Records) 3. VA - No Time No Space (Parvati Records) 4. Sun Control Species - Scienza Nuova (Iboga Records) 5. Trold - Time Of Illusion (Glowing Flame Records) Downtempo. 1. Sundial Aeon - Apotheosis (Flow Records) 2. Asura - LifeĀ² (Ultimae Records) 3. Liquid Stranger - The Invisible Conquest (Interchill Records) 4. Pushmipulyu - 133 Thursdays (Interchill Records) 5. Younger Brother - The Last Days Of Gravity (Twisted Records) I tried to gather and remind myself everything I loved in 2007 by checking CDs, every album and compilation, checked my last.fm, reviews... everything I could. I was quite happy to rediscover some of the stuff I totally forgot of! I have to say a few words about chill, as you can see I don't really like compilations. Sundial Aeon was everything this year, a really great album that touches something inside of me. Also, I love dub again - got bored with it, thanks to Interchill for Liquid Stranger Sync24 is the album I listened most this year in my CD player, but it suits only a narrow field of moods and luckily I was in that mood for a looong time Notice Sun Control Species. That's the last album of good psyprog, I'm pretty sure there will be no anymore. I'm a goa-freak, so Suntrip's releases don't any argumentation. Full on is something I can't listen to these days, only few albums, Trold and some of the suomi mafia sound more full on than people that call themselves "full on". Junk glow-stick sport-arena music generally. Dark side devided to drug-head gabba bullshit and some deeper, mystical and pretty calm music. Parvati, as always, leads that field. There were literally hundreds of dark releases, but only 1-2 good tracks on each, so it's hard to name any particular release except "No Time No Space". Discovery of the year in that field - Atriohm and some other Macedonian guys, like Encephalopaticys, for example. There are still about 15 psytrance albums I have to hear from 2007 and get into some I already have, but didn't have the time to fully appreciate. Anyway, you saw the results. 2007 was the year I discovered the world of minimal techno and dub techno - Pantha Du Prince, Aril Brikha, Efdemin, Deepchord's Echospace and Hawtin's M_nus Records are my favs. There's also some idmish stuff I listened to a lot, but I don't think mnml and idm should go to the list. ...and I think I must have missed something Other Releases worth mentioning (in alphabetical order) Attoya - Based On True Events (Trishula Records) Bigwigs - The National Heroes Of Sonic Parallel (Horns And Hoofs Records) Fractal Cowboys / The Many Faces - Entre Nous (Manic Dragon Records) Gappeq - Speaker Seeker (Wirikuta Records) Ocelot - 9 Lives (Zaikadelic Records) Penta - Horn Please (Aura Quake Records) Sound Field - Audio Surfin' (Oxygene Records) Trashlords - Made In Goa (Stone Age Records) Troll Scientists - Useless Science (Space Boogie Records) VA - Bush Food (Zenon Records) VA - Dream Theatre (Cosmic Theatre) VA - Holocryptic Audio (Sanaton Records) VA - Nine Worlds (Yggdrasil Records) VA - No Tone Unstirred (Faerie Dragon Records) VA - Psy Stories 3 (Parvati Records) VA - Ultrapop 2 (Fabula Records) Vibrasphere - Exploring The Tributaries (Tribal Vision Records) Ashtech - Walkin Target (Interchill Records) Chronos - Steps to the Great Knowledge (Sunline Records) Outolintu - Odd Man Out (Faerie Dragon Records) Polyploid - Grow Your Own (Chill Tribe Records) Sync24 - Source (Ultimae Records) VA - Bioluminescence (Native State Records) VA - Floating Point 4 (Sofa Beats / Iboga Records) Have a good musical year
