  1. "Trance2MoveU is the reviewer psynews deserves, but not the one it needs right now." Wait what? Oh nevermind. Blacklight Moments is a very very special album, but most of you knew this already right? It's so full of twists and turns, contemplation, hope and despair, light and darkness. A culmination of who these artists are and what they want to show us, participating in this ever creative process known as life. I won't go into each and every track on here in detail because they are all so good, so unique and well made. So yes, thank you to all the artists, lesser known and well known your craft means a lot to me and surely others. My summer is a little more glorious thanks to you all. Also, in case you have not heard, Skarma's track is out of this world good. So clever, well written, it shimmers with energy from the developing melodies to the breakdown to the release. I have to say though, you are no Astral Projection, you are better. More specifically a typical AP track would be slower, with a totally different kick/bass rhythm. Neither would AP write a song with such a song structure. I don't like to make comparisons but I think Blacklight Moments is better than Shaltu. It's more intense, more twisted, more spiraled, perfectly laid from track 1 to track 10. This album is seriously a wonderful psychedelic journey from start to finish. Basically, Suntrip has done it again.
  2. The Mars Volta - Cassandra Gemini Warning, this song is 32 minutes long.
  3. Come visit my city of Buffalo, especially in winter. You'll wonder where all the people went.
  4. Teleport Jack-in-the-Box Floor Essence
  5. That shpongle mask creeps me out in the same way the shpongle mask creeps me out on the cover of Nothing Lasts.... But Nothing Is Lost.
  6. Goa Trance: Easily Ra - 9th Psy Trance: I don't know enough artist names much less albums to really be able to say what is my favorite. Every artist has such creative ideas I think it's impossible to define a favorite.
  7. Too few. Basically my education gave me no real world skills and nearly every job wants people with many years of experience doing high end stuff. Don't let anyone tell you computer science is a good field because it absolutely is not. Salaries are only going up because companies literally can't find people with the skills they need. Computer related industries move so fast and so many things change that labor cannot keep up especially someone just starting out like myself.
  8. I just graduated with a degree in computer science but there are literally no jobs with the kind of experience and skills I have. I am currently working minimum wage at a bagel shop.
  9. Man With No Name - Azymuth Electric Universe - Gayatri Afgin - Aden Prayers And of course... Dimension 5 - Mind to Mind
  10. Yea this is a better album than Gaia Sophia and maybe one of the best under the name Entheogenic.
  11. Check out http://entheogenic-usr.bandcamp.com/album/anthropomorphic for new Entheogenic. Glad to see Piers is still writing new stuff!
  12. The entirety of Chi-AD's Infinitism from 2001 which has Eye Am The I on it is ridiculously bass heavy. Not sure how that one happened to be honest. That's the only real example I can think of where the master should have corrected something so blatantly bad about the mix. In general the goa/psy classics are not so guilty of bad masters as just having a different production style back then.
  13. No mention of Plastic from anyone?
  14. If I like it and I want it? I will buy the CD... if I can. However, I refuse to purchase an older CD for way above the original price. Also, not many artists or labels get blind purchases from me. I want to listen to it first to see if I think it is quality music. Then I will decide if I want to buy it.
  15. So I am trying to figure out what I don't like about recent trance and I've been listening to the classic trance station on di.fm a lot lately. A couple of things I noticed. -More variation of chord progressions. Recent trance is not adventurous any more. There used to be all sorts of chords back then, many minor some mixed with major but never dull and always interesting. Many beautiful and well thought out layers and harmonies. -Faster BPMs and tighter basslines. The classic sound is more driving and energetic compared to the watered down pussy stuff that passes for trance these days. Trance now is basically what prog used to be. -More variation of sounds and fewer vocal lines which does not mean a lack of voice samples which were used to stronger effect during the breakdowns back then. -Break beats. -Stronger, deeper kicks. Overall recent trance feels light and not very agressive as a form of dance music. Bouncy? Yes. Euphoric and adrenaline fueling? No. The trance I knew left your legs throbbing with pain as it just kept pounding, forcing you to dance to forget the sweat pouring off your face. -A more positive message. I know it sounds stupid but it's nice to hear a form of music more aware of the concept of PLUR. Classic trance felt more inclusive and empathetic where one could listen to it in the clubs, at home, or anywhere. Recent trance is more sexual and about feeling young, edgy, and "dangerous". It's almost strictly a club music now. -Yes some trippy sounds mixed in to complement the rhythms. This is not to suggest good trance can't be found these days but I think a lot of what I fell in love with about trance is something more specific to that time and place. Unless more artists start getting adventurous again or the big name DJs start selecting more exciting songs I think there will never again be such a form of dance music. Now I feel inspired to make something like classic trance.
  16. This explains the many many different artist names he has gone under. My guess is it's not just drugs, but I won't speculate. I wish Filipe luck, I've enjoyed a lot of his music. @Fabien, you were in the hospital and still took the time to listen to and comment on my demo track!? You're my hero. Get well soon!
  17. These guys love fucked up dissonance and this album is full of it.
  18. Second Phaze probably sounds different thanks to Christer's influence as I hear a strong parallel between this album and To Sirius. But hey, I don't pretend to know how they made this album and who had the most input.
  19. Artifact303 - Back To Space Forgot how good it is.
