  1. fair enough, nothing more to say on this topic. One last thing I would like to note though: EP, you like to be edgy in your replies, don't you? Example... Now, that's a far fetched conclusion, don't you think? I merely brought as an example your new chill track. Who said ANYTHING about your music in general?? And for your information, I have 2 of your albums... peace
  2. You shouldn't get pissed off, first of all you make music for yourself I presume. Maybe you are referring to other discussions about this, because I don't see any harsh comments in this topic. Again, its not about liking or disliking the samples, its about the fact that artists use the same sample cds! My point was very precise and not the generic "annoyed about the music" as you oversimplify. That alone makes it a constructive comment. I don't have anything against anyone, obviously. I enjoy the music and I am grateful that the artists share their creations with us. That's why I comment on these things, because I care. If one comes to you with a specific comment and you reply "Dont listen to it and certantly dont buy it" its not exactly a polite answer... Once again, you should do whatever you feel like, of course. However, personally the use of the same vocal samples (or other lenghty, easily recognisable samples) bothers me. It hinders the individuality of the track. If you don't listen to many new releases of course you won't notice this, but the listeners probably will. Exactly, I mentioned this in my first post, I am not against samples in general. I elaborated on this enough, I think.
  3. I really dig it!! Its dark, hauntingly atmospheric and has a nice kick (and I like the scream sample, hehe). You might want to ease a bit the whirling synth, its a bit τοο much highlighted, imo. This sounds promising though, keep it up!
  4. Its not an "element" or a similar melody, its the exact same melody. Perhaps they have listened to the track, forgot about it and then "subconsciously" rediscovered the melody some years later. Perhaps, they knew what they were doing. But I cannot believe its just a "coincidence".
  5. hehe, I just noticed that the opening track of the "Flying Ey Land" album of California Sunshine has exactly the same melody with the older Blue Planet Corp track, Midian Does this mean that they just copied the melody? I don't recall seeing anything being mentioned in the cd case... Both tracks are great in their own way though.
  6. I was just listening to the tune samples of the upcoming chill compilation "Quality Relaxation" when suddenly I could recognize the voice sample in the Elysium track "Fairytale". Its the same voice sample as in "Magic Monkey Juice" by Younger Brother. Why Kristian? What's the reason? Is it that there is a lack of variety in sample cds? I certainly feel that it takes away a lot of the magic of the tune, makes it sound like a weird kind of remix, takes away the freshness and originality. Maybe I'm over-reacting here, but this annoyance is building up in me for far too long now. The same tired voice/acoustic samples used again and again by many artists. Sure, some twist them a bit, use some effects on them, cut and paste, but in the of the day you will listen to the tune and the moment you will hear that all-familiar sample it will be a letdown (at least for me). Typical examples: Ott - Splitting an Atom / Gaudi - Sufani Entheogenic - We Are One / Shulman - Instability / Cell - Zaz / Ott - Smoked Glass and Crome I remember one time I was listening to a generic radio-station and a latin/pop tune started playing with the melody of "My head feels like a frisbee" by Shpongle. What a disappointment... Now, I know that sample use and recycling is happening all the time (Etnica using Kraftwerk samples for example) but this is way too obvious in extended voice/acoustic samples and thats why it bothers me.
  7. Big Bud - Super8Skank (feat. Hooligan) summer is almost here, so its dub/reggae time! off the new Big Bud album, Fear of Flying
  8. I liked the "one-tune with 7-8 themes" approach, it really feels like one coherent musical journey. There are very few points that I really think mr. Posford overdid it with the samples (the worst point for me is the turkish/arabic melody in the beginning of "When Shall I Be Free?", it stands out too much and sounds a bit disconnected and cheesy) but overall this piece of music psychedelic, playful, deep, funny, summery and stimulating. All in all, an excellent album. Thank you Si and Raj!! 9/10
  9. only synth: Pete Namlook & Mixmaster Morris - Dreamfish Pete Namlook & Geir Jenssen - The Fires of Ork Spacetime Continuum - Sea Biscuit The Future Sound of London - Lifeforms synth/acoustic: Celtic Cross - Hicksville Amaruvision - Light Energy Performance Ornament - Bleu Subsurfing - Frozen Ants Adham Shaikh & Tim Floyd - Drift acoustic mainly: Aluna - For the Love of the Deep Blue Sea Brian Eno - Music For Airports Harold Budd - The Room
  10. I just got... Big Bud - Fear of Flying http://www.sound-trax.co.uk/big_bud_biog.html http://www.juno.co.uk/products/178251-01.htm Big Bud is finally back!! He changed his style (from atmospheric mellow d&b to dubby/roots d& but I trust him. He is a veteran. Besides, dubby d&b is great for summertime! next batch will probably be some psy-chill stuff, new Shpongle, new Matenda, portal of perceptions comp. and some proggy stuff hopefully!
  11. Twisted Interchill Liquid Sound Design
  12. hehe, I really love that one too but for now i'm going back to the golden days of platipus Terra Ferma - Turtle Crossing
  13. Got Hydra - Rendezvous in Space two days ago. It's Jens Buchert so its chilled and relaxed, very nice!
  14. yes but very very promising remixes! 2 by Ott, 2 by Abakus, one by Vibrasphere, one by Shulman and one by Youth! Plus a couple of fresh tunes I presume. I can't wait for this
  15. its extremely difficult to just pick one... my short top list would be: Juno Reactor - Labyrinth Prometheus - Robot.O.Chan FREq - Strange Attractors Filteria - Sky Input Androcell - Emotivision so... eenie, meenie, minie, moe.... its Androcell!!
  16. This sounds sooo great!!! Any more info? I'm not missing this one!
  17. The past few days I've been mostly listening to Juno's stuff, I haven't listened to Transmissions and Beyond the Infinite for quite a long time so I though I should revisit the whole discography. Even after all this time I' still blown away by how far ahead in the game Juno Reactor are. Each of their album has very strong integrity, always introduces new ideas skillfully and has an consistent mood. I love each and every album of these guys and to think that there are 6 in total, six original, strong, diverse albums, is something remarkable. They 've been in the game since the beginning and after 12 years they still push their sound forward! How many psy artists can claim that?
  18. you 're getting old probably
  19. ok, just bought my ticket! So, who else is coming?
  20. excellent choices!! some of them I don't know so I will try to hunt them down. Let me add some remixes that spring to mind immediately (more or less in ordered, top is most fav): Zodiac Youth - Mr Redeemer (Elysium Mix) (wooooaa!! deep, driving psy, just perfect, E.P. this is a masterpiece!) The Green Nuns Of The Revolution - Ring Of Fire (Eat Static Remix) (incredible!!) Zodiac Youth - Fast Forward The Future (Hallucinogen Mix) Etnica - Trip Tonite (Remix) Astral Projection - Mahadeva ('96 Remix) (I lost track of how many remixes they did. This is the best version for me) Killing Joke - Jana (Hallucinogen Mix) Shakta - Lepton Head (Deedrah Remix) Talamasca - Speaking Robot (GMS Remix) (superficial and out of its league in this list, but I had a lot of fun in parties with this one...)
  21. on the download right now. looks very promising... thanks for sharing Basilisk, I will get back with some comments.
  22. I have to agree with the above reviews as well. Pretty good full-on comp DETOX, but try to steer clear from Alien Project and Astrix next time, they ruin an otherwise very strong comp.
  23. juno reactor - conga fury the best psytribal track ever?????
