  1. Yup its whichever track has the best combination of psychedelia and power, irrespective of speed or anything else.
  2. Yeah I agree with you in that I'd like to see more darkpsy with less noise and glitch. It goes all over the place, and each track sounds the same, in the sense you know what kind of sounds (glitch) you're going to hear. The synths and patterns used begin to sound familiar after you've heard a few of these darkpsy tracks. It has to be done properly, not too much glitch, and the glitch complementing the patterns, like in the Powered Psidm track.
  3. I think thats how they end up with the glitchy sounds. Speed it up enough and it devolves towards glitchiness.
  4. Plain pure ensocerelling psytrance to be bitten into fully.
  5. Old topic, but Furious has produced since then and may I point out...Powered Psidm at 190BPM is awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8K2YOVZqGkU
  6. Wow some law...still I'm sure its better than the scene here.
  7. In India its a lot of MTV music, some house, and occasional psy gigs. Nothing else. Good to know, I'm going to be in LA soon for sometime. DnB is good, I've seen vids of Evol Intent live in LA. I've heard there is something of an outdoor psy scene around there too.
  8. Plasma is really good! Thanks for the recommendation
  9. was that video an attempt at surrealism?
  10. 66. Makes you see the coolest visuals when you close your eyes.
  11. I looked a bit and found some but they aren't all recent releases... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GwHrj0nYWU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33cdC3DN2sU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcVSSJHq3Uk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBaP9Sy006s
  12. Chromatone - Chromaconnection early IM perhaps? like The Gathering Yahel - Waves of Sound
  13. I've read the word energy so many times here, that while this is not completely OT, this is a power packed DnB track. There seem to be enough psy recommendations http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtKxPc-an20
  14. -How do you feel when you listen to psytrance? If you close your eyes, what do you see? a real rush, floating in space sort of thing -What makes Psytrance so unique? What's the best thing about it? the sheer joie de vivre or energy
  15. My favourite hard acid track...I love acid, nothing beats a good acidline. Here are my faves, all good stuff # Art of Trance - Madagascar (Trance) # Bamboo Forest - Sadhu (Goa) # Cosmosis - Gift of the Gods (Goa) # Chemical Brothers - Believe (Breaks) # Darshan - Speed Freak (Dark Goa) This is you usual darkpsy track but the middle of this track has some amazing acid. # Doof - Double Dragons (Goa) # Doran vs Joshua Ryan - Unreal # Fatboy Slim - Acid 8000 (Breaks) # Hardfloor - Acperience 1 (Trance) # Hallucinogen - Space Pussy (Goa/Psy) # Josh Wink - Higher State of Consciousness (Tweekin' Acid Mix or Original) (Breaks) # Kopfuss Resonator and DJ Jörg - Whipbird (Goa) # Mama Indica - Radioactive Rain (Hard Acid Goa) # Misjah & Groovehead - Trippin' Out (Rave-ish Trance) # Moonweed - Telepath (Trance) # MWNN presents Yogi and Grey One - Big Trouble in Outer Space (Dark Goa) # Phuture - Acid Trax # Plastikman - Plasticine (Minimal Techno) # Pump Panel - Confusion (Techno) # Razor's Edge - Exquisite Sin (Exquisite Acid Mix) (Trance) # Space Tribe vs Electric Universe - Rabbit Hole (Full-on Psy) # Spicelab - A Day on Our Planet (Trance) # Stakker - Stakker Humanoid (House) # Trilithon - Trance Dance (Goa) # Tufaan - Probe (Green Nuns of the Revolution remix) (Goa) # Uberzone - The Brain (Braindusted) (Acid Breaks) # Zodiac Youth - Fast Forward the Future (Voodoo People Mix) (Goa) # D.I.D. - Alcyone (Trance) # Robbie Long and AMS - Acid Bath (Hardcore)
  16. -Shakta & Moonweed - Micronesia - already mentioned but its very good, with beautiful sitar strains beginning the track. -Shakta - Silicon Trip (album) - Many tracks have an Oriental/Indian feel to them. -Sundog - Touch the Sun -Pharagonescia - Pharatropic -Chi-a.d. - Pathfinder -Dogma - Sutra Sarma -Elysium - Monzoon has this eastern-tribalish atmosphere -Juno Reactor - Beyond the Infinite -Juno Reactor - Navras - has a lot of Indian chanting, that complements the atmosphere of the track beautifully. -Medicine Drum - Supernature -Juno Reactor - Beyond the Infinite (album) - Similar to Shakta's Silicon Trip in that you will find many tracks with an Eastern/Indian feel to them. -Electric Universe - The prayer
  17. Synergy came out in '98 and I feel that there are albums released before it that do what it did better like Trust in Trance, Lets Turn On, Alien Protein, Cosmology. It doesn't give me the feeling that other albums do. Standard meaning it sounds like most goa trance. So yeah it comes down to taste then I feel Synergy is goa though.
  18. +1 Spot on. Its both equally for me, when it comes to pure trance, to giving you that "feeling", nothing comes close to some vintage oldskool goa. And I find goa is better for home listening too. Psy is great to dance to, for the energy.
  19. Uh...Synergy is a pretty "standard" goa album imo. I don't find it fresh or different from goa produced previously. Cosmology easily tops it for me. And yup if you're looking for mental and twisted then AP and a lot of goa (melodic/happy stuff) isn't your thing, you're better off listening to older psy than going all the way back to goa.
  20. MFG - Project Genesis is the best dark goa album I've heard. Listen to the stuff going on in "On Mars" and "Project Genesis", the rhythms flow into each other, and all the layers fit. And yes I've listened to a fair amount of other dark goa like UX,Darshan,Cydonia...any others which might top MFG?
  21. You liked the TIP comps but didn't like Pleiadians or AP, kind of confusing. The link in my signature has got most of the good stuff down, you could listen and see what you like and don't like. Maybe you'd like Dark goa which is closer to psy? MFG,Darshan,Xenomorph... And wow, haven't heard any pre-2000 stuff?
  22. There are too many books and too little time, so I never re-read books. However, there is one book which is a true pleasure to re-read...Jerome K. Jerome - Three Men in a Boat...short enough to not stretch out a re-read and delightful enough to invite that re-read. I also want to re-read Ulysses one day, though I'm not sure that'll happen
  23. I just heard CPC - Lizerd 23 and thought it was a nice cross between psy and dub. Try it out.
  24. Oh yeah Goa trance with crazy amounts of hard, trippy acid! My favourite subgenre too. All these tracks are guaranteed acidic Mama Indica - Radioactive Rain Moonweed - Telepath Cosmosis - Gift of the Gods Bamboo Forest - Sadhu Doof - Double Dragons Hallucinogen - Space Pussy Kopfuss Resonator and DJ Jörg - Whipbird MWNN presents Yogi and Grey One - Big Trouble in Outer Space Razor's Edge - Exquisite Sin (Exquisite Acid Mix) Trilithon - Trance Dance Tufaan - Probe (Green Nuns of the Revolution remix) Zodiac Youth - Fast Forward the Future (Voodoo People Mix) Full list of acidic music here Eh? What? I can't hear you over the acid...
  25. I think what you're looking for is twilight. Twilight = dark full on. recent topic on twi -> http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/57788-what-is-twilight-psytrance/
