  1. I'm reading Solid State Physics by Ashcroft & Mermin And I'm trying to squeeze in PKD's The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch but it's not really happening =\
  2. +1 sometimes I wish I was born at a time when brain computer interfaces are standard.
  3. Obviously there's a genetic difference. I never said I didn't accept that. What you said was "Unesco's program to erase the idea of racial and genetic differences has been a great success (I can see why it was necessary). But Unesco is more than anything else a political/humanistic program, not a scientific one. Fact is that our genome decides far more than we'd like to think and that there is a great genetic difference between various human races. Not just the color of our skin." and that seemed to imply you feel there are significant differences between races that can be put down to genes. If that is not what you meant, then I'm sorry for the misinterpretation.
  4. Why don't you want to install Win7 on your Mac? You'll have the latest version of Windows, and it's a pretty decent version. Plus you only have to lug around 1 computer, and everything stays on one computer. Is the simulation software heavy on the processor/ram? 'Cause then you mayn't want an old Win computer. I guess not, but just in case.
  5. I actually responded that way because I felt what was said was getting too close to eugenics. If you get into this whole thing of different races are different because of different DNA then how far are you from eugenics? I'd be interested in what you think these other factors are? Factors apart from your genes and how they are expressed I mean.

    US Debt

That's very idealistic imo. Hardly anyone thinks like that. It would be great if people did, but realistically no one does. Also I don't think men have ever taken only what they need. If they only took what they needed, it was probably because they didn't have the means to take anything more. People have thought of what you are getting at (if I understood you right) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steady_state_economy#History_of_the_concept Yup, what you've said is true. There are other scenarios though. Like American inflations away its debt, the renminbi rises, wages in American are competitive again and American turns a surplus and so on. I'm no economist though, so all this is simply what I've read. But I agree with you about the financial sector. They need more regulation. Speculation cannot rule our lives and wreck havoc on the global economy like this. Related: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyCRDyDUWQk

    US Debt

People seem to be happy enough to keep lending the US government. So what's the big deal?
  9. Both points are don't make any sense and are obviously wrong. I think you're trolling?
  10. As long as it distracts you from spamming and lets me get a higher post count....
  11. I think you are confusing genes with place of origin? Europeans can like drums, and Africans can like opera. It depends on how a person's brain is wired, which depends on their genes, and how those genes are expressed. Ofcourse genes can be correlated to place of origin, so there is some link between the two, but not enough to say that on the basis of that, musical taste and place of origin are linked.
  12. No. We share 99.9% of our DNA. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/1416706/DNA-survey-finds-all-humans-are-99.9pc-the-same.html Or define 'great genetic difference'.
  13. Well ofcourse genetics has a part in it since our genes determine everything about us. I don't know about the how the expression of the genes involved though, i.e. if the environment affects the expression of the genes responsible for our sense of aesthetics. 14. What? So mods have an unfair advantage when it comes to spamming?! Meh.
  15. You mean let's see who's best at spamming?
  16. why would anyone lock this thread?
  17. I like the way words are repeated to create a hypnotic feel. The bass is pretty cool too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WJFjXtHcy4
  18. Oh yeah ofcourse there will be differences in how men & women perceive music or any art for that matter. I think trance is pretty emotional, so I don't see that as being a reason. Hmm...unless it's the vocals. More Michele Adamson! Also I'd say higher sensitivity = better hearing. So imo, women have better hearing.
  19. It seems it's the other way round. "There is a difference in sensitivity of hearing between the sexes, with women typically having a higher sensitivity to higher frequencies than men." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_range#Humans http://www.genderdifferences.org/hearing.htm
  20. Yes, thankfully this is psytrance, not brostep, and we're glad for it.
  21. "Epic acidlines" brings Cosmosis - Cosmology to mind, maybe Key to the Innerverse?
