oh, you are so right Tom, seriously. i have a confession to make: all those mixes (goa-getter I-XIII) are crap. that's what i think today. the reason i made them that slow is probably that i rediscovered goa trance in 2007 (didn't listen to it from 1999-2007) and that anything above 135 bpm sounded like shit through my 20 years old pioneer speakers. so i set the limit at 135 bpm even if the original tracks were at 148 for example. today i know that you can't do that seriously. you can pitch a track up/down 1-3% easily, but not 5-12%. it just sounds weird. crappy. so actually i have to apologize for all those mixes. strange thing is, many people seem to like them, maybe because they don't know much about the music itself, don't know. a few examples: VA_-_Goa-Getter_I.mp3: 274 downlaods VA_-_Goa-Getter_II.mp3: 168 downloads VA_-_Goa-Getter_X.mp3: 153 downloads my new mixes which are much better are maybe downloaded 20 times and then deleted from sendspace because of inactivity. strange for me. anyway, if you like to listen to some good mixes made by me, check out: goa-getter - psy-mon magus goa-getter - tranceactinide elements goa-getter - psymorphic protennoia goa-getter - citta-visuddhi those are very enjoyable mixes, mostly starting rather slow, then becoming steadily faster. check em out, and (everybody) please ignore the "old series" and forgive me for making and offering those weird mixes.

this is an interesting discussion, even if it goes heavily off topic. i see your point Elysium, but just calling Iboga stuff "progressive trance" cannot be the solution, because sometimes crappy music such as Gigi D'Agostino or Ferry Corsten is called "progressive trance". and there's a big difference between Iboga Records releases and those artists. I think therefore "progressive psytrance" is a useful term, although i agree that most stuff released by european labels doesn't sound psy-ish at all even if most people call it psytrance or progressive psytrance

i was too lazy to read the whole thread carefully, so maybe i'm not the 1st one with this point: Why does the "goa sound" have to be necessarily melodic? there were several great artists in the 90s who produced goa trance that wasn't typically melodic, such as: Orichalcum & The Deviant Metal Spark Satori Nervasystem Man Of The Last 3rd Der Stern Von Afrika etc. and there are great artists today who produce more or less exactly that sound, such as: Shadow Fx Autonomech Grouch Bufo One Tasty Morsel etc. are these artists less "goa" than the artists of melodic new school goa?

of course this is happening for a long time and of course it's not criminal. but anyway, i think it's dubious, especially if certain track/artist names are slightly renamed, clearly in order to cheat buyers. for me it becomes more and more obvious that there are several cardsharpers in the scene.

Guys, that CD Goa Trax seems to be badly pressed somehow. phusg, you are not the 1st one who noticed that EAC error in the 1st track. I know at least 1 other guy who had the same problem with a NM copy of Goa Trax. So i think that particular point should be excluded here.

Very interesting mixes, Nokturnal. I really like to listen to some of them, but 128 kbps? That's not enjoyable, sorry. I'm not an audiophile, at least not in this case, so i don't expect lossless files to download, but it should be possible to offer these mixes in 192, V2 or V0. 128 is for prelistening, not for listening. No offense here, this is my honest opinion. I love Sea Of Vapours, have the original CDs of course. Outstanding release, the best in 2008.

MFG is dark goa?! didn't i listen carefully enough? i always had the impression that MFG sounds similar to Astral Projection, just a little harder or wilder.
