  1. Sure, Zenon Records is always on my list, just like Cosmic Conspiracy Records. I have everything from both labels. The music released by them can indeed be called Progressive Psytrance, while european progressive labels become more and more cheesy. Anyway, thanks to everybody for the recommendations so far.
  2. 1 CD added and prices reduced ^ Edit: sold
  3. hey, i'm searching for good new Psytrance. No New School Goa like Suntrip Records, no Dark Psytrance, no teenie Full On. I don't listen to samples of all new releases, but now and then i do, and what i check is mostly too "happy", too aggressive, or too trancy. Progressive Psytrance had a couple of good years from 2005-2008, but it seems it's getting worse these days. Normal Psytrance (or "Full On" like some people call it) seems to be too happy or too aggressive for my personal taste. Always the same boring, pushy rolling bassline. It's quite frustrating. I wonder why so many artists sound like this. There are only 2 releases from 2008 that have a nice sound imo: Headroom - Artelligent and Burn In Noise - Passing Clouds. Unfortunately not all releases on these labels are equally good. Okay, several tracks on those 2 albums also have this rolling bassline, but it's more in the background and not so loud. Both albums are somehow funky, simple but not boring and most important: not overloaded with sounds. Discussions and of course recommendations are very welcome! I posted the same topic on Discogs Psy/Goa Trance Forum.

  6. Man Of The Last 3rd - The Evolution Of X (Trippin' Peace Mix)
  7. Hans Zimmer - Black Hawk Down (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
  8. Various - Africa In Trance Edit: Toto - Africa ...and 'Sense - Escelator' is a really nice progressive track by an african artist: track 06 here
  9. Yes, it is. And it's 100% CD quality, at least when you ripped the CD with good apps/settings. I don't think it's good to share FLACs on public places where thousands of people download your rips. But sharing among small circles of trusted people is ok imo.
  10. It's a fact. Like what?
  11. of course you can see the difference. here you have a spectral view of an MP3 V2 which is the standard encoder preset in the psytrance scene: and here you have a spectral view of a lossless file of the same track: ...and when using a good sound system/speakers/headphones, you can also hear the difference for sure. Btw, i own this Vaishiyas CD, so no stupid comments please
  12. That's possible, but it doesn't sound old because it's old, it sounds bad because it's badly mastered. And this happens even today on new productions. About your "perfect" MP3s, it may sound good or even very good on your speakers/headphones. MP3s can have a high sound quality, depends on the encoder presets that were used to encode them. But it's still MP3, it's a lossy format. Therefore it cannot be of the same quality as an original CD. When ripping a CD to MP3, there's always data lost, that's why it's called a lossy format.
  13. i guess at least 99% of all tracks can be found on many public places around the internet as MP3s. and i don't have a problem with people sharing MP3s even of rare releases since MP3s are not the same quality as an original CD. this is what many people including the music industry don't understand or even don't know in some cases. personally i only use MP3s for pre-listening. If i really like a release and want to have it, i try to buy it if possible.

  15. I cannot agree with all the positive feedback here. Filteria deserves respect for offering something different than the monotone ordinary modern psytrance. But that doesn't mean the music is 'goa trance'. It's "goa orientated psytrance", ok. But it's not in the same league with true oldschool classics of course. Just my 2 cents. Btw, why does "new school goa" always have to be that extremely melodic and uplifting? Those who are familiar with the oldschool sound probably remember that there were artists like Nervasystem, Orichalcum & The Deviant, Metal Spark, etc who created a rather spooky, creepy sound back then. Nowadays Zenon Records sometimes offers a similar sound, but it's just their style, not an attempt to bring back the oldschool sound. Why is Suntrip that onesided? The idea to bring back the old style is generally very cool!

  17. http://www.goagil.com/goatranceinterview.html Not exactly like i described it, but yes... kind of that. Btw: To be honest, i don't have very much respect for this guy called Goa Gil. But that's just my personal taste.
  18. I once read an interview with Goa Gil. He said Goa Trance has developed on the beaches of Goa during the late 80s. According to Goa Gil, european DJs collected/extracted synth sounds from New Wave/Synth Pop tracks and underlined those sounds with 4/4 beats. This is how the Goa Trance sound was developed, according to that interview.
  19. It's just the standard Traktor software and nothing more. Best mix? Hard to choose one. I like them all very much, otherwise i wouldn't offer them here. My favorites are I, II, V, VII and IX. But if i remember correctly, i got the most positive feedback for Goa-Getter III.

  21. Thanks again for the feedback guys. @Stevo: Talking about the mix itself, this one is by far not the best i've done. I choose the tracks i want to include and then i have to make the best out of the selection. Sometimes it works ok, sometimes good, sometimes very good. Check my other mixes. They're all at 135 BPM maximum since this is the tempo i like. But some of them have a much nicer mixing, especially Goa-Getter I, II, V and VII. @everybody: If a mix you want to download has been deleted from sendspace, just leave a note in the thread or send me a message.
  22. No offense to IM fans, but this album is average and nothing more. There are not enough good parts to love it and not enough silly parts to hate it. I don't see any reason to listen to this more than one time. Astral Projection produced much better tunes years before the release of 'The Gathering'. Maybe it's just the name 'Infected Mushroom' that led people to the conclusion that these guys are producing quality psychedelic trance, a nice marketing trick of course.
  23. Hey Please check this one, maybe somebody knows the track: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=gutKyv3yVfo Thanks EDIT: Got it already: It's Astrix - Underbeat Anyway, thanks folks

    Headroom - Artelligent

Is this really that important? I read this sentence ("there's nothing new...") quite often in the review forums here. I say: better a good album without new ideas than a bad album with new ideas, don't you agree? @ Sideffect: Indeed, the Burn In Noise album is pretty good, thanks for the hint. I have to admit: I'm not the greatest expert when it comes to modern Psytrance, but i listen to samples of many new releases. Most of them sound boring imo. I hate this aggressive and "samey" bassline that you hear in most tracks. It's not creative at all. But Artelligent and also the Burn In Noise album are very good imo. Even if it's not the right place for this: If you can think of any similar stuff (from 2007/2008), please let me know. Thanks
