    Good TV Series? Any?

best show: The Wire most entertaining show: The Sopranos coolest show: Miami Vice funniest show: Family Guy ...simple as that!
  2. Great Goa mixes :)

  3. Scientist - Heavyweight Dub Champion , best oldschool dub album ever. Also other old Scientist albums are great.
  4. Donkey Kong Country + sequels (Super NES) http://www.zshare.net/audio/66448178c99ae476/ ok, seriously: Ennio Morricone soundtracks are the best ones for sure. Dollars Trilogy, Once Upon A Time In The West, etc. a class of its own. The movies in general are outstanding too of course.
  5. i used to think that "Yahel" is a term for israeli psytrance. was mislead by a friend though
  6. nice to see some people here who agree with me that IM are (and were) only well promoted copycats. very nice. most of the time i browse the forums here, i have the impresion that people think IM are actually the true gods and pioneers of psychedelic trance, which is simply nonsense of course. sure, their first 2 albums are not bad, but there is nothing special about them. actually they are quite boring. Other israeli artists made much better music even years earlier. And calling them pioneers is really funny. The Gathering appeared in 1999, (Non-)Classical Mushroom in 2000. I don't say that there was no good goa trance in these years. But it's a fact that these were the years in which many people and labels started to produce psychedelic trance because they intended to have commercial success or at least decent result. Tbh, i think there are no 'pioneers of psychedelic trance' who started making music later than 1996. The pioneers are MWNN, AP, Hallucinogen and several others, but not IM for sure. Short off topic: i read people saying something like "it's a matter of (personal) taste" several times in this thread. In case of IM that might be true. And it's true when talking of professional artists like for example Madonna, Phil Collins, etc. I'm not interested in their music, but i respect them as professional artists. But in case of "artists" like for example Britney Spears or others from that category, you cannot speak about a "matter of taste". People who seriously like them and listen to their music are just stupid (yes, unintelligent), and that's it. further discussions unnecessary.

  9. Infected Mushroom: Copycats from the beginning. I don't get why most people don't see this. Shamanic Tribes On Acid: Boring and uninspired. California Sunshine: Goa Trance for kids. Doof: not so bad, but overrated for sure. Neelix: cheesy as hell. Feuerhake: same. Edit: Oh yes: Hallucinogen for sure. 3 good tracks, that's it. Totally overrated.
  10. generally i love discogs, and of course i use it every day as well. but some things are really annoying. the whole marketplace system is as complicated as possible. "changed status to blabla...", this is all completely pointless and unclear. and of course the brilliant idea to name releases after the compiler. this is so stupid, i would really like to know their reason for this. did they give any reason? does anybody know?
  11. i guess it's none of the mentioned artists, i checked almost all tracks by them. it sounds israeli, but sometimes british stuff sounds israeli as well imo. anyway, thanks to everybody for trying. somebody will probably recognize the track and be able to identify since it's quite a good track, too good to be unknown.
  12. Of course there is many great early progressive, and in comparison to today's progressive it's all rather "dark". Early iboga releases (2000-2003) are also somehow similar to this mix posted by JISNEGRO. Anyway, i will now sum up the labels that release good and rather dark progressive nowadays, since this was the purpose of this thread (not that i mind you guys to discuss other prog styles as well): Zenon Records Cosmic Conspiracy Records Bio-Sine Records Crotus Records Electric Power Pole Records These are the labels that you should check out if you like funky/minimal/dark progressive psytrance. Feel free to add labels (or particular releases) that fit into that list if you can think of any.
  13. hi please check: http://www.zshare.net/audio/620632209708f3fa/ or http://rapidshare.com/files/241564834/NN_16.mp3.html any idea? thanks in advance!
  14. Don't know much about this style tbh. Just listening to the track 'Troll Scientists - Fishermans Symphony', quite funny stuff. Actually sounds like a mix of Euro House and computer game music, definitely a "feel good track". :posford:
  15. VA - Elementos Sagrados is quite good imo. i would call this serious non cheesy full-on.
  16. Artax sounds somehow experimental now and then, doesn't he?
  17. Really?! Insane Creation is ok, but Neelix is horribly gay! (the sound, not the person)
  18. I just love Zenon Records, and i'm sure many people do. Cosmic Conspiracy Records and Bio-Sine Records are also quite good. But that's it afaik, there are not more labels with this kind of sound. On the other side there are many labels (like Spintwist, Blue Tunes, Iono, etc) that produce the "normal" progressive (psy) sound. You have at least 30 releases per year that offer this sound, but if you prefer rather dark/minimal progressive, there are only around 5-8 releases per year. how come? maybe it's more complicated to produce good dark/minimal prog? or maybe it's because the normal 'trancey' prog works better on parties and festivals? what do you think?
  19. ok, i've done a little more investigating. many web releases of Plusquam Records, Midijum Records and Crotus Records contain several tracks that were already released in previous years. but when browsing on beatport it appears as if they were all new tracks. so if you intend to buy web releases from these labels, it's advisable to have a look at discogs and check if you would buy freshly produced tracks or actually old tracks that pretend to be new.
  20. Just spotted another "new release": Sensient - Solistic. Both tracks already appeared on Various - Soundscapes Part 1 by Crotus Records. Also the Progressive Killers Compilations by Plusquam Records contain several tracks that were already released in previous years. I guess quite a lot people bought them and thought they were getting new tracks only. Actually this is more or less fraud in my opinion. It definitely looks like Colin is correct about Plusquam/Midijum/Synergetic/Psytropic Records. I sent a mail to Plusquam Records and asked about all this. I got a reply from a guy called Thomas (Vitali?). He said that Colin is "talking crap" already since a long time, and that they don't understand my motive, even IF they were owner of Crotus Records. I replied that it's absolutely interesting for people to know which label belongs to whom. Now i'm waiting for their reply again, but i have a hunch that they will ignore me from now on.
  21. hey, i just noticed that some "new releases" only pretend to be new. i spotted 3 different cases so far, but i'm sure there are much more: 1. Sensient - Offworld : All 3 tracks have already been released years ago, 2 of them were even slightly renamed for this EP, obviously in order to to decoy possible buyers. 2. Various - Electric Space : The exact same release is offered on beatport, but released by a different label. "Release year": 2009 3. Bena Riamba - BC : In this case i am one of the "victims". I was impressed by the samples on beatport and bought the complete release as WAV. Apparently i was a little overhasty, some minutes later i noticed that all tracks were already released in 2004 on a compilation by the same label (Crotus Records), which i even own! Feel free to laugh at me. Additionally i bought the track 'Sabiani - Lactobacillus Acidophilus' from the EP 'Sweet Girl'. I sent an email to Crotus Records and asked if this track is also an old one pretending to be new (i was friendly though). I got a reply from Brian Jensen who said "I dont run crotus anymore. It was bought by a German guy also running Plusquam." So i sent a mail to Plusquam Records and asked if they really bought Crotus Records, which they denied. Quite strange, isn't it? It seems there's not only love and good vibes in the psytrance scene. Any comments or explanations are welcome.
  22. while browsing on Zenon Record's myspace site, i spotted the label 24/7 Media and checked samples of their newest releases on beatport. sounds quite interesting. didn't like everything but they seem to have some good artists and tracks.
  23. Style: Psy-Trance, Progressive Trance Sources: Lossless Length: 73 minutes Format: MP3 (LAME, V0) Size: 118 MB Tracklist: 01. Shadow Fx - Minimal Technician [Zenon Records, 2009] 02. 24. I didn't like Various - Primordial (Bio-Sine rec), it was like Zenon Records stuff but much more aggressive and loud. I just sold it yesterday. But dude, i just listened to samples of Solar Spectrum - Planes Of Existence (Free Freak Music). Sounds very promising, i will get this for sure. Judging from the samples there is no bad track, all tracks sound wonderful. Finally a light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks a lot for recommending it! I will check those free releases as well, and sooner or later all the other stuff you guys mentioned. BoomBam
