Quantum Fantay - Kukuriku Part 1 & 2 (2010) This isn’t exactly metal, more like rock. Goa rock! It somewhat reminds me of Ozric Tentacles. I highly recommend it!

Thanks! Amazing what you can do with a few software synths, bit of EQ, some gentle saturation and a few tape simulator plugins...- 15 replies

It has this raw and underground feeling. Very good album, especially the first half I'd say. Generally this darker, sinister vibe is not what I seek to listen most of the times, but if you are in the mood for some honest, raw psychedelia that stays melodic and within the Goa substyle, you'll hardly find anything better. Last time I listened White Dwarf & Monkshroom were the winners.

If you're stealing from yourself, does it really count as stealing?)) 😄 Different project names, but it’s actually the same people behind them. Pharagonescia — Pharatropic (1996) Birmingham 6 — Policestate (Barbaque As The Goa Police Squad Mix) (1996)

Both tracks have the same lead melody. MAN — Movers & Shakers (1993) Mindfield — Let's Get Stoned and Watch the Freaks (1995)

Not bad, but as I grow older I think my ears become more sensitive. I mean, I don't want to listen too many layers or overcompressed sound without much dynamics. And if this is coupled with frantic high-pitched melodies it can be a challenge. Or a bliss too, if you are in the right mood. As I wrote almost 10 years ago (time flies!), the good thing with this artist is that he has his own recognisable style. I certainly prefer it over the average, forgettable, formulaic neogoa album. No bad tracks but those ear-piercing sounds... make listening to the whole album in one go impossible. Listening to one track here and there, or in a mix with other artists, satisfies my appetite. Second best album after Stax.

I listened it again recently, it holds well I think. It is indeed piercing, that's the problem. A lot of high-pitched sounds. Still, his best album for me. I find his other albums more difficult to listen to. This one also feels more retro flavoured, perhaps it's not as overproduced. Favourite: Viajado

Sounds fkn great to me. I hear 90s goa in this but also it's sounding new and refreshing. Nice. It even has the 90s hardware sound to it. And that's rare..- 15 replies

This is a sonic voyage in two parts. The first part is a lot more experimental and playful, whereas part 2 aims to more closely recapture the vibe of 1990s Goa Trance. I have tried to accentuate the melodies in this in contrast to modern psy where the kick and bass dominates everything. I have also deliberately let the different layers of melody blend into one another a bit to try and give the impression of a thick and ever changing soundscape. The voice sample in part 2 is a reading from Descartes.- 15 replies

The melody from the beginning of the track Nihilist — Sunbeam From Fornax 4 (1994) was borrowed by the duo TransWave for their track TransWave — Adoration To The Aum (1995). Whether TransWave did this intentionally or accidentally is unknown to me.
