tracks which made an impact

i've been thinking with a friend of mine about really amazing tracks for the time, tracks which totally made an impact when they were released which are sure to survive the test of time. i'm not talking about good tracks or even excellent tracks.. i'm talking about pure classics which if someone would ask you wtf is goa trance you'd let them hear.

i've thought of 4:

ap - mahadeva

hallucinogen - lsd

mwnn - teleport

muses rapt - spiritual healing (which i personally don't like much, but you gotta admit it made it's mark)

One track that really convinced me early on that I was listening to something really different was California Sunshine's Tokyo Underground. It made me hallucinate sober with eyes closed (in headphones).

Edit: And a little later, Colorbox's Train to Chroma City blew my mind.

I've not paid close enough attention to know which tracks were the first in the style.

I can just tell you the tracks or albums that changed my view on music & shifted my own liking!

Genetic - Trancemission was the first track that got me into the scene proper after being teased by what I'm sure was The Green Nuns' Optimum Creakage but never got confirmed. Sounded like it but I was trollyed so I can't be sure.

Hallucinogen - Twisted brought me deep in

V/A - Singularity shifted my taste into darker less melody driven music

Planet BEN - Silver made me fall in love with minimal

Butterfly Dawn is the CD I attribute my love of chill from stemming from!

Individual tracks I can't really think off & genre defining could be different for each person. I can only give my personal feelings here

Power Source - Goaway

Fuck yeah...that track is so fucking great...

I think its alright but not really "that" good! ;)

compared to the likes of:

Astral Projection - Enlighted Evolution

Crop Circles - Lunar Civilization/Full Mental Jackpot

D5 - Harmonic Convergence

MFG - Overload

Pleiadians - Alcyone

Prana - Scarab (Green Nuns of the Revolution Remix)

Shakta - Lepton Head (Deedrah Remix)

Technossomy - V.T.O.L.

(ED: which all made a huge impact on me back then)

I just find the sounds used and the composition in Goaway a bit boring to be honest... but hey each to their own... :P

An odd favorite of mine from the Goa-days that made a big impact on my was:

Shaolin Wooden Men - Remember The Slime

astrix - kali (for ruining psytrance in the following 2 years)

I think it's a good track, especially the GMS remix. It indeed defined the full-on sound of the coming years. Good or bad I don't know, but it did.

Isn't Kali a remix of Jaia's Mai Mai (or some other Jaia track)?

Does that make GMS's remix a remix of a remix? :)

Most of the stuff (and by that - I mean 90% of the posts, and 99% of the tracks) you've posted is just good music, or music that you love. Not "tracks that made an impact".

I can agree with IM's Bust a Move though :)

Deedrah - Reload (GMS Remix) had a huge impact in the summer of 2001. I remember that in Japan EVERYTHING was minimal, minimal and more minimal at all the large parties I attended (and most of the small ones too). Suddenly this track came out of no one and everyone was playing it. It would usually get drop at least two times per event, (once it was played 4 times at one party I went to). I seem to recall the issue most DJs there were having was finding something else to mix with it amidst all their minimal records (ah yes, records were still more or less the norm then). IM's B.P.Empire had just came out as well that summer and "Tasty Mushroom" has also getting played nearlyas much, Reload definately was the tide turner. Anyways, soon after that what became known as the the "full on" boom started in earnest.
