  2. Artist: Goasia Title: Unvisited Galaxies Label: Spacedock Date: May, 2012 1. Tribal Experience 2. Chemical Brain "What it does is...reaches into your brain...chemically." People ask me why I review Ep's so much. It's like junk food...gives you that quick burst of energy and who the hell has time to sit down and have a full meal. I've got kids and anyone who has kids will tell you that you can't turn your back for a second. The other day I'm rinsing dishes to put in the dishwasher and I look down and my 9 month old is holding a knife. I'm all for letting them explore there world, but she could hurt someone with that. Namely me. There is always something going on, so finding time to digest a whole album and then write a review is a time consuming experience. Remember when I reviewed that darkpsy/forest compilation and I said I was on the crapper? I wasn't kidding. You can lock the door of the crapper. So Ep's are nice short dime bag of music, but unfortunately like potato chips, you cannot stop at one. So that's why I do it. What are you writing a book? Balint Tihamer and Vladislav Radulovic have been at the forefront of goa trance since it came back with a vengeance. Their most recent album Dancing With the Blue Spirit had some excellent tracks where these gentlemen aren't afraid to take goa in different directions. This short 2 tracker is no exception. The cover lets you know that a space theme is in place. Tribal Experience has some tribal chants right in the beginning. I know, I didn't see that coming either. The melody is catchy and not threatening. The way Gremlins weren't threatening. Maybe a little scary, but you knew you could just kick them across the street. Oh and f*ck Gizmo, he started all that sh*t. Like they have done in the past, they meld psytrance with goa so sometimes the lines get blurred. Not bad, but I liked the second one better. It had more racing melodies with a wink to Nitzho imo. Pumping and churning that comes in waves. Thank you gentlemen for a nice little sample of what you're working on. Recommended. Juno Download Mdk

  5. Artist: Somnesia Title: Mystic Moon Label: Gliese 581C Date: April, 2012 01 - Mystic Sun 02 - Encounter 03 - Goa Spirit 04 - Cosmic Gate 05 - Halluminium 06 - Nomad's Land (Original Version) 07 - Beyond The Sky (Extended Version) 08 - Space Liquid 09 - Dusk Till Dawn "I believe that these extra terrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets, which are obviously a little more technically advanced than we are here on Earth." Not possible. Christophe Grossel is no stranger to goa trance. As Somnesia, you've heard his tracks like When Kali Meditates (Goa Overdose), Eternal Life (The Omega Point), and Sunlight (Future Architecture). Awesome stuff. Did I mention he is also a member of our little corner of the web? But in a world of what have you done for me lately there hasn't been an album. Until now. Released on Gliese 581C he presents you with his debut. For free. Apparently he used to work for them. Forgive me I'm old, when I worked for someone, I actually had to fight traffic and drive there, fight it out with a grossly overweight co-worker as to who would get the last half eaten creme filled donut (C'mon fatty cut me a break isn't this your third one?), and try to look busy for most of the day. Working for a net label, he probably did all his sh*t with his fuzzy bunny slippers on. Gotta take a sh*t? F*ck it, do it with the door open that chick from marketing with the wonky eye can't see you. Sign of the times I guess. First thing that jumps out is the beautiful cover. A dark blue night with a nebulous cloud drifting across the full moon. Nice looking and it basically tells you what you're gonna get. Mystic Sun- Holy crap if the intro was any longer it would be an ambient track. You don't hear a kick until past the 3 minute mark. Fine by me, because this is storytelling by the light of a campfire. Ominous pads and running synths have me looking skyward. The track has a give and take quality...not giving you everything at once, but parsing it out in measured amounts. If you're not thinking about space when you hear this, then you must already be there. Encounter- Undulating is the perfect word to describe how the opening synth behaves. It twists around you like an anaconda and when it's ready applies the force to crush the life out of you. At almost 10 minutes long it continues to build to an powerful climax that...that could be the most unintentionally erotic thing I have ever written. (I say written, but who the f*ck writes anymore? I wrote a check the other day and it looked like my 3 year old penned it. Shoulda used a crayon.) That lead is constant, never vanishing throughout the whole track. Pretty impressive. Felt like I was riding that...whatever the f*ck it is in the neverending story. Blistering track. Goa Spirit- I don't know why but I thought this said goa spice. Hmmm....goa spice.... She had to have seen her time with the Spice Girls was short. You think Posh is going to put up with sunshine's shower optional policy? And how long will the label tolerate her blowing the budget on weed, hackey-sacks and patchouli? You know who I feel sorry for? C*cksucker spice. Would've broadened the bands appeal and she never gets a shot. Well, other than a money shot. Cheesy. Too much. Made my stomach hurt. Oh, not the track. This was the bagel with cheese I had for breakfast. The track is awesome. Mysterious vibe with leads bundled together like fiber optic cables. Dances as one would if you were walking on hot coals, never lingering in one spot for too long. It builds to a point and then halfway through begins to reorganize. Ever seen a skier tumble down a hill? F*cking garage sale with skis flying this way and that? No matter how hard you try to stop it only makes it worse? Well, it's like that, but in a great way. Intensity increases, layers multiply and at the end you're looking around wondering where the f*ck that came from? Cosmic Gate- Rapid fire dark vibes with shimmering synths bring the feel of space into the living room. Melodies tumble like the particles of a recently exploded star and this would make great driving music. He throws different melodies at you in enticing layers that make this one a delight. Halluminium- Triplets are creepy. Why are we spending so much money trying to find extra-terrestrial life from up above when those freakshows are walking among us? Let me show you how I got there. It's really very simple. Track name sounds like aluminum of course and that makes me think of the foil. After being sidetracked for twenty minutes on how I could make another bagel with cheese, I refocused and thought that putting on the foil is a hockey term for fighting. Which I got from the classic movie Slap Shot. Well, there is a group of triplets in that movie that are a few croutons short of a salad. Total elapsed time...less than a second. I. Need. Help. More of a grower that gathers ammunition as it goes on. It flies on the dark side of the skies with an entertaining style. Nomad's Land (Original Version)- 10 and a half minutes? I used to love the sight of that, but you know I got kids right? Gotta take a sh*t just to get a few minutes to myself. "Lemme alone! Go watch Dora or something!" Whew, dude is working pretty hard to squeeze that one off isn't he? Burger King really needs to clean their restrooms. Running through space with the utmost quickness. Melodies move with jellyfish like quirkiness and then dance like Gregory Hines isn't really dead. Cristophe really puts a track together well balancing out the highs with the bubbling undercurrent of basses. So you take a driving rhythm, layer it with eerie melodies and you've got my daughter crying because she thinks daddy is possessed by the devil. Top notch! Beyond The Sky (Extended Version)- Hmmm....extended. Like c*ck enlargement. Surely I'm not the only one annoyed by the incessant advertising on the side of the page telling me that with this "one weird trick" I can make my dick look like a f*cking python. Why the hell would you want that? Do you know how hard (get it) it would be to buy pants? And I think we are all aware of the danger of the pee hard on. Pitching a tent is no way to go through life, son. As you could've probably guessed this one takes a while to get going. 13 minutes? Minus commercials that's almost an entire episode of How I Met Your Mother. Speaking of your mother, like a frenzied sexual encounter in the backseat of your mom's minivan, the ahem, "magic" happens at the end. But don't miss out on the atmosphere he creates because it's quite good. While not unleashing his inner Ron Jeremy to test your gag reflex he does provide a good show with bubbling basses and smooth melodies for a look at the softer side of goa trance without making gay porn. What? Space Liquid- Never thought I would say we are down to a manageable 9 minutes. A cold and mysterious intro has me thinking about a deserted space ship a la Event Horizon. Analog pads stream across sensors and I think I saw Gary Numan's ghost. As the title says, he makes a very liquid sound and then promptly hops on his Jean Michel Jarre horse before introducing some goa licks. What you thought was a spooky ambient piece drops a beat near 6 minutes. Nice. Dusk Till Dawn- That is all. He recently celebrated a birthday and wound up giving us a present. This would've been presented to him closer to the date if Photobucket wasn't full of b*tches. But like Ivan said, at least I'm popular. Well happy motherf*ckin' birthday Christophe and thank you for this gift. It's a superb release with everything that makes me love goa trance. Twisting melodies, awesome power, and music I can get lost in. He hits you with the power in the beginning and then slowly begins to turn the lights out culminating in a slow, eerie end of the world downtempo outro. Like De La said, you did it big like white boys wallets (obviously they never peeked at my wallet.) And you gave it away? Thank you from a guy with a small wallet. Ektoplazm Mdk

  7. Artist: Eleusyn Title: Atlantis EP Label: Joof Recordings or Joof V.2 whatever the f*ck they're doing over there Date: April, 2012 1. Atlantis 2. Solar Flares- E-mantra, Artifact303, & Reasonandu 3. Ganduri (Elusyn Remix) - Hypno Following the success of Carbon and Phantasm current king of the hill and titan of goa trance E-mantra (Emanuel Carpus) reunites with Reasonandu (Alexandru Dumitrescu) for their 3rd EP Atlantis. Less than a minute and half into the track Atlantis and that all too familiar sound which from this moment forth shall be named the E-mantra preset reaches the ear. As always it's hypnotic and will carry you to that mystical place in your mind. The brief breaks are like a thing alive with sensuous tendrils caressing as a lover would. Solar Flares adds another quality producer into the mix with this progressive goa rambler. Can a track be laid back and aggressive at the same time? This one is has bubbling effects and a searching 303 that carves a path like a hot knife through butter. If that was all there was I would say been there, done that. But the soft touches applied in the break that give rise to a new direction for the layers to flow are quite nice. With a name that sounds like an entree I would get at the local Indian joint (and then release not 30 minutes later) Ganduri takes us into the depths of the ocean in search of that lost city. Perhaps the most lush track on the EP, it has a Merr0w feel to me. Spiraling, ever twisting. Not a slight against Alexandru, this is the vintage E-mantra sound that I personally cannot get enough of. Melodic, soothing, and rich in descriptive layers. All the tracks are hypnotic and a worthy addition to your collection. "Oh yeah...right there....no, no...don't stop." Beatport Mdk
  8. Artist: Chynacid Title: Zen Dimensions EP Label: Acid Chemical Plant Records Date: April, 2012 1. Shuriken 2. Zen Dimensions Filipe, now you know I love your music. You know this. I've reviewed and purchased almost everything you have put out there. But I gotta ask you... 8 F*cking dollars? Really, $8?!? The current exchange rate for GBP to $ is 1.6 so while that is slowly tipping in America's favor, 8 f*cking dollars for two tracks? I can see this happening for three reasons. One, you are aiming to make this a collector's item by making it so expensive people can't justify paying so much for just two tracks. Two, you misplaced a decimal point. Or three, and more likely in my opinion, you just don't give a f*ck. Don't get me wrong, you've earned this with the quality of your music and the sheer amount you have given away in the past. But are people other than me willing to pay that steep a price for 2 tracks? The first Chynacid EP Tofu was brilliant and further reinforced how important Mr. Santos is to modern day goa trance. So do you get the ticket to goa heaven with this EP? I'm not gonna lie. It's pretty damn good. Layers of melody, twisted leads, and the groove to keep you dancing. So yeah, it's good. Worth 8 bucks good? I'll leave that up to you. ACP Records Mdk

  10. Artist: Various Title: The LSD Connection Label: Yo Soy Records Date: December, 2011 01 - Extrinsic - Psychedelic Liberation 02 - Parana - High Dosage 03 - Godha - Beautiful Experience 04 - Innerself - Shifting Reality 05 - Erofex - Lions Gate 06 - Goalien - When The Cosmic Winds Collide 07 - Imba vs Nemesis - Overdosed Serbs 08 - Majestad Valkyria - Margarita (Outro) Finally. Instead of tap dancing around the issue, a label has grown a pair and decided to no longer ignore the 800 pound fungus in the room. Ladies and gentlemen...our music has a drug problem. Pull yourself together! We can get through this! The first thing we need to realize is that it's not your fault. We need to redouble our efforts and try to get the message to the young that drugs are dangerous and shouldn't be taken. Since kids today have a shorter attention span than your average internet porn visit, we need to find something they can relate to... *snaps fingers* Got it! Video games...kids love that sh*t. Ok, are we ready? Is my mic on? How's my hair? The effects of drugs have been presented in a fashion that makes it attractive to potential users all in the name of profit. "Hold up...so I can take drugs and be bigger and faster than before? Uh...by the way...your sister has nice tits." In a totally unrelated incident, the produce shelves of Kroger, Food Lion, and Wal-Mart were picked clean but curiously only mushrooms were taken. Hours later the police had the suspects in custody. Drugs are bad people. As you can see from the telling mugshot above they lead to crime. sexual assault and crooked mustaches flagrant douchebaggery poverty and unemployment most importantly though, they rob you of your potential...turning you into something less than what you can be. "F*ck you Yoshii...are you gonna pass that or what?" The situation is dire. It may already be too late. Reports have surfaced detailling addiction beginning as young as the age of 4. "Won't somebody please think of the children!?!?" So can a simple compilation of psytrance tunes perhaps change the mindset and steer our kids away from such deviant behavior? If not... May God have mercy on our souls. Psychedelic Liberation- "There is more to reality than meets a normal eye." Ladies and gentlemen. You know him...you love him...please welcome...the LSD sample. As I mentioned in the intro our music is full of drug samples like a Waffle House packed at 3am with drunk assholes, but I liked how they presented things here. Because it's not the same sentence repeated ad nauseum, but different bits as the music changes. It's actually...um, psychedelic. With a pumping beat, a few tribal chants, and slight goa leanings...you got yourself a nice little salad right here. Nah, f*ck that it kicked ass...this was a Triple Whopper with cheese. High Dosage- I just got it. Really I did. Parana...like that fish with teeth or the unfortunate movie of the same name. Whazzatnow? They made a sequel to that sh*tfest? Oh Ice Cube, where have you gone? Moving on...This had some pretty sparkling moments with a very powerful bass that wouldn't quit. A little too buildupy for me at times though. Oh Dough Boy. That gif is your soul putting neverending slugs into the sellout you've become. Beautiful Experience- "Each one of us is responsible for a ceremony to heal Mother Earth." Ummm...I just came for the shrimp, so...yeah. You have a real psychedelic track here. Changes in tempo, acidic leads, but I think Mr. Hoffman takes the cake with a long sample spoken over a sad string. Normally I would say momentum killer, but it wasn't. Added to its...psychedelia. It rambles on like a trip that doesn't want to leave. Hypnotic. Shifting Reality- "I don't want you listening to any angry music." "The Carpenters are Angry? I mean..." "Naive Dave. Close To You? We've Only Just Begun? Songs of madness." Obviously spoken before the time of F*ck Tha Police and Boyz In The Hood. Wow, I drop any more references to Cube there will be a puddle on the floor. Kristijan crafts a new school goa track and wields that lead like it's a light saber. Oh Christ, here come the fan boys. DAMN! Did you see him go in for the kill? Public school, I'm tellin' ya....you can't get that sh*t in private school. Back to the lead it flits all over the place, thickens up, and leaves a blood splatter all over the wall. I liked it...not too concerned with being a perfect melody, just unleashes mayhem. Lions Gate- I heard every animal but a f*cking lion. The title says Lion, where's my f*cking lion. Wait...maybe it was in there. I dunno, I'm kinda sleepy. But shut the front door he brings some eeriness that makes my ears perk up. Arpeggios tap out a straight forward melody and acid washes fly by with effects as if they were jerked on a string. Spooky man, like skeletal fingers reaching for you in the dark. Efrain Candia you say? Well you have my attention Efrain...if that is your real name. When Cosmic Winds Collide- Boris your album came out last year? Man it feels like 5. Loved it by the way, but you knew that. He makes it rain on you again with his brand of Nitzho melodies that come together like a tight french braid. There is no rest here, as it is in constant motion. Wanna know what was in my head while this song was on? French maids, erotic cookies, and a girl scout committing arson. It's a landmine in there, I'm tellin' you... Overdosed Serbs- F*cking hell, Imba you're only 21? I hate you. I'm old enough to be your fa...very cool uncle. So he get's with another Serb and this is what happens when you take too much...whatever it is you young kids take. This is an acidic ride that opens your mouth and stuffs it full of goa madness. Reminded me of some old Kuro type insanity with some cool percussive weirdness. But the star here is that lead. And did you know that according to Discogs there are 56 different projects named Nemesis? Maybe you want to stand out from the crowd more. Here you can use this one...purplemonkeydishwasher. Just throwing it out there. BTW, in a crazy coincidence my wife has a cousin who is an awesome rapper named...wait for it...Boom. Emcee Nemesis. Margarita- The short midtempo outro, a lost art form. This was the only track that sounded like it couldn't handle the bass. Could be my sh*tty headphones though. Maybe I should get a pair of Dr Dre's Beats headphones. Yeah...I'd be real cool then. This has chanting, birds, didjeridoo, and big bass. A side project of Mr. Dark Fox, I don't know what to make of it. Love the bass and the melody at the end but it was too short for me to really form an opinion one way or the other. Man that was good. Really good. First of all it sounds great, so hats off to Mr. Dark Fox for the mastering. It's uber psychedelic with great samples and not one track sounds the same. Evolving and enveloping. This sh*t was free? I would've paid for it. I'ts almost one a.m. and I'm starting (starting?) to lose it. Gotta get up and be in a "driver improvement class" tomorrow morning because John Q. Law says I ran a stop sign. How the f*ck do you do that. It's a huge red octagon. Did he think I thought it was an apple? Meh...I'll tell you about it later. Ektoplazm Mdk
  11. http://soundcloud.co...ogoa-alchemists My recent dj set ,folks!Hope u like it Giilgämesh is a brazilian dj set project focused mainly in Goa Trance and Nitzhogoa/Uplifting. The name was inspired in the hero of ancient Sumerian narrated by 'Epic Of Gilgamesh'. More than psychedelic music ,the intent of the project is to tell stories through complex mixes and synthetizers, making acid enviroments and extraterrestrial dimensions where there's no notion of space and time. This is the way to establish connections between different musicality in different locations and vibrations. Influenced by artists from the scene of Israel nitzho 90s and the new european generation ,the main feature of the sets is the transition to Nitzhogoa, generating an uplifting atmosphere with 'laserkicks' and range bpm between 145 and 155 full of high energy, solid percussions and memorable melodies.Giilgämesh was recently added to global label Olotropo Recs. http:// http://olotropo.org/ Tracklist: [bpms] GoaHuman - Intro 100 Boneva - Andromeda (Agneton Red's Sunset Rmx) 149 Ion Vader - Orbital Bombardment 152 Goalien - Psychedelic Dilemma 153 Ion Vader - Hk47 153 Persistent Aura - House Of Sun 148 Zed Reactor - Velzevul 147 Agneton - A New Hope (Pan's Ice Crean Rmx) 146 Travma - Resurecting The Dead 146 Goalien - Origin Of Life 145
  12. I'm more than happy to announce first slavic Goa trance compilation - Kupala that should be released during the end of June, 2012 and it will be a joint project between serbian net-label Underground Alien Factory and croatian net-label Neogoa. It will represent our culture, herritage and ancient traditions through electronic, psychedelic music. This is the most challenging project for me and for Nikola Petrović (Imba) so far. Enjoy in this 2-min preview! first preview: http://soundcloud.co...ts-kupala-first second preview: http://soundcloud.com/richpa/various-artists-kupala-second

  14. Artist: Various Title: The Omega Point Label: Neogoa Date: April, 2012 1. PHARAOM - Rainbow Project 2. SIAM - Colorful Expansion 3. NOVA FRACTAL - Connect 4. TRINODIA - Deceive My Eyes 5. INNERSELF - Modules 6. AGNETON - Wizards From The Future (Afterlife Remix) 7. ARRONAX - The Dark Flow 8. SOMNESIA - Eternal Life 9. PSYRIUS - Draconid (Imba's Be My Light Remix) After reviewing the absolutely awful Dynamic album (yeah I know it's my own fault. Blind people told me to get the hell out of the way.) I attempted to throw myself down the deepest hole I could imagine where escape was all but impossible. So you can imagine my surprise when God called to me from the internet parting the sea of bits and bytes...Ok, it was actually Richpa who said, f*ck it, here are some wave files, have fun! Seeing a release from Neogoa is like the LOTR scene where the Balrog falls into the chasm and just when you think Gandalf made it out....BAM! He plummets into some new goa freshness. But instead of fighting for my life against an evil minion from the underworld I get to immerse myself in twisted goa melodies that this netlabel was known for. The tracklist is more impressive than the ability of a fat man and 12 reindeer to deliver all the presents in one evening. "Sorry Detroit, looks like we'll be spending a little more time in Mexico this year!" So while label head Ivan Richpa has devoted the lion's share of his time to Graviton Records he still wanted to keep Neogoa alive. Mastered by the guy who seems to master everything, Igor Ceranic (aka Deimos) is on sound quality while Ivan did the artwork. Pleasing to the eye, no? One thing you'll notice by looking at the liner notes is the varied countries that are represented here. It's like a f*cking Benneton ad. More the merrier I say. What you get are 9 varied tracks that should do the trick. Frenchman Oswald Pfeiffer opens with a great track with an even greater intro sample. Unified theory and teleportation are the keywords but it's the numerous evolving and twisting melodies that unfurl like a flag in a hurricane that garner the most attention. I've heard a couple of tracks by John Pitsakis before, but I think this is the first one he's actually released. Good for him, he's talented. It's more of a progressive sounding goa track that takes a while to get on its giddy up, but once it gets going it's a nice bit of sunshine. Nova Fractal is Renato Brnic from Croatia who delivers one of the stronger efforts here complete with breakbeat (I love you...squeal!) and moody atmosphere. Reminds me of Filtertraces. Not a stormer, but a track that you can melt into. Has their been a faster rising star than this guy? This Daniel Eldstrom from Sweden and I remember him working with Miraculix in his psytrance days, but he has really come into his own in the goa medium. This is the track for me, as it absolutely slays. Spiritual, grandiose, and just manhandles anything within reach. What a great sample also. "Oh yeah, you like that? You want some more? Hold up...what is that? Is that...is that a Ho-Ho? Gimme dat f*ckin' ho-ho! Mines b*tch! Uh! Uh! Like Lionel Richie we can do this all night long!" Kristian Petkovski from Macedonia unfortunately has to follow that so it's not all his fault. He is also right before the 2nd best track on the comp so perhaps he is just a victim of poor placement. It's not bad, but when you are the meat of the sandwich you better be more than spam. Elias comes in at a close second to Trinodia here as he does what he usually does. Crazy melody heavy goa with a kiss of nitzho. The lead is a scorcher so don't forget the sunscreen. "Nah it's ok baby, you can pet me...I'm like a teddy bear. Yeah...that's it." Mirza Aljic from Bosnia Hersa...Herca...Bosnia is set to release his debut album on Graviton and I cannot wait. Now he brings an abrasive lead over the top while the surrounding gurgling flows without restraint. You might like it. You might not. Public Enemy had a sound that was like this and that camp was divided as well. I'm not saying he is as legendary as PE. Not yet. But he's got intense melodies that keep changing sounds, always seem to be building to the knockout blow. Good God he is hideous. You do realize he was part of one of the most revolutionary rap groups right? Know how hard it is to find evidence of that little Gremlin dancing around? Christophe Grossel from France is the third best track for me here, but loses out only by a fraction. Dancing melodies with a great break that really pull you in. It really is a deep tour de force that is absolutely hypnotic and powerful. Superb. Knock knock motherf*cker, there's a new sherrif in town. The liner notes say this is Psynews own Nikola Petrovic from Serbia to close things out with a downtempo joint, but with the racing scales I could swear it's keyboard cat. Waitaminute...maybe Nikola is keyboard cat. You clever kitty, suck them in with cuteness and then drop your goa bombs on em all! Truthfully I don't have any proof that he is keyboard cat, but I also don't have anything disproving it. Either way its mystical, ethinc sounding slowness warms the skin. And there you have it, goa awesomeness served up the Neogoa way. Quality tunes with an unbeatable price tag. Several styles are represented so there should be something here for everyone. Unless you're into rap goa, and I haven't heard any of that yet. I don't think Flav is working...he would do it. That motherf*cker would do anything for a few scheckels. Hey if we can get a Croat and a Serb together on one compilation perhaps there is hope for this little mudball yet. Get your goa on! Ektoplazm Mdk
  15. Artist: Doruk Title: Astral Colours Label: Ezel-Ebed Records Date: December, 2011 1. Alien In My Room (intro) 2. UFO 3. Astral Colours 4. Space Journey 5. Core Of The Universe 6. No Gravity 7. Astrophysics 8. Eyes Of The Moon 9. You Are Not Perfect Always on board for new goa trance I came across this a bit ago. It's a digital download and oddly enough the only place I could find it was on Beatspace. These are tracks made by Doruk in the years 2005-2008 packaged into a nice space themed album. Alien In My Room (Intro)- We begin with a brief intro that sounds like aliens are doing a sweep of this guys room with some superior sensor technology. Ignoring the semen stained sheets and the leftover hamburger helper left in the corner they come to realize they might not need back up. UFO- "What is that...smell?" 8. 8 times that sample was used. And that's just the whole sample. I'm not counting the times where he just said "what" or "smell". 8 times. I like masturbating, but I don't think I could squeeze out that many knuckle children during one track. Ridiculous. Part flowing goa-lite and part epic trance which was completely overshadowed by the overuse of the above sample. Astral Colours- It seems to have all the ingredients that would make a good goa track, but...it's missing power. Force and anger. That extra kick in the nuts that blows your wig back. If Portamento and Artifact303 are heavy metal than this is Air Supply. Not that that's bad. I can see this being played in an elevator. If it was, it would be the coolest elevator of all time. Space Journey- "Did you ever think what it takes to live as long as I have?" I liked this better. Darker and more twisted with some good layering. Pumping and flowing with a great sample and outer space leads. Very Astral Projection. Back when they made music...and not just promises. Core of the Universe- More ripping space leads that leave an acidic taste in my mouth. It is a track that hypnotizes and constantly twists and turns. Solid No Gravity- With an aggressive bass line he takes no prisoners. Couple that with a nice, searing 303 and you've got all the makings. It's pushing your spacecraft in tight 360 degree revolutions to avoid enemy fire while the stars whizz past. At each brief break it reorganizes and continues it's assault. Astrophysics- Astrophysics? That was me on the first day of class. Not proud of that moment... But he obviously gets it. If there was one track that could be called an Astral Projection clone, it would be this one. And that is not meant as an insult. Analog space leads, thumping kick, dark atmosphere...beautiful. Eyes of the Moon- I'm thinking that this is unfinished due to the short track length. It's more floating and trancey, but no less entertaining. Surely there is more of a story to tell here? You Are Not Perfect- One you get a pass on, but two short...blurbs? That's just a tease. Punishment will follow accordingly. That wasn't me! I didn't do that! I DID NOT DO THAT!!! *drops riding crop and quickly backs out of basement* First the bad. With the intro and the two short tracks at the end you get more of a 6 track EP. Which is why I suppose it is a digital download only. But if that's the case, why offer them at all. Spend the extra time and finish those two to make a proper album. Now for the good. This was great work. Really, it was. I wasn't so sure after the first third, but he saved the knockout blow for the rest of the album. Dark, atmospheric, melodic. The comparisons to Astral canot be helped. I mean, sh*t it's in the title. What more could you want? Thanks to Ezel for intoducing this artist. I know these tracks are old, but here's to hoping that he is working on some new material. 20. Artist: Various Title: Art From The Heart Chapter II Label: Old Is Gold Date: August, 2011 01 - Jayex & The Wonderboy - Witchcraft Night (145 BPM) 02 - Radical Distortion - Evil Machine (142 BPM) 03 - Jikooha - Riot Here! Riot Now! (144 BPM) 04 - Qlipadelic Rythm - Ganesh Soul (140 BPM) 05 - The Wonderboy - Kings of Camouflage (145 BPM) 06 - Snag The Sunshepherd - Aura (146 BPM) 07 - NK-47 - Know No Silence (145 BPM) 08 - Hybrid FX - Shamar (148 BPM) 09 - Afgin - Cleopatra (143 BPM) 10 - ArmagedDance - Sun And Snow (136 BPM) 11 - ArmagedDance - Away From Eden (113 BPM) God Awful. Have you ever seen something and said that? Nope that's just terrifying. I've never actually vomited spontaneously, but perhaps here... Hey I"m a dog person, but this...f*ck where would you begin to try and pet this...abomination. "Ok...I'll come peacefully. Let me get my fur coat." Need a lawnmower to shave that thatch. He is every cab driver I have ever had in NYC. That's how I felt when I saw this cover. So ugly. So we've got flowers (opium maybe?) mountains, crazy colored clouds, the Earth I guess, and then...what the f*ck is that? Riiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnggggg...yes, it's attention. I craves it. Aw f*ck it, if that's his way of expressing himself more power to him. It's a free country, but good luck finding a job that doesn't involve circus tents and cotton candy. And how does getting laid work? Can't imagine they're lining up for some reptile lovin. How bout that first visit to the girlfriends parents? Actually he's been married for almost 10 years so if that doesn't prove there is someone for everyone....and no she isn't a turtle. Guy's actually really smart. So yeah, this cover is ugly. Maria, no offense but uh...I wouldn't put this on the resume. Less is more, and there is just too much "more" going on. But file this in the don't judge a book by its cover drawer, because there are some seriously good tunes to be found. As you can see this is the 2nd chapter in the Art From the Heart series and like its predecessor it is also free. It's a who's who in the genre of today's goa trance with some names I am sure you will recognize. And some not. But surely if you've been following this music, then you know of the label. They have released the 3 Golden Vibes goa trance compilations and of course the album when the world became aware of Uber-talent Afgin. Witchcraft Night- I swear I've heard that tribal chanting sample, but I cannot put my finger on it. Hmmm...notice it's over 9 minutes and that gives me pause because normally I cannot take 3 minutes of Wonderboy tracks. Just my preference, but I feel he is a better compiler. But this one isn't bad. Flutes, bass sweeps and a general happy vibe until it shifts after 4 minutes. The break sees a return of the chanting sample and I have to admit the flow is very enjoyable. Good job. Evil Machine- Civil servants mistakenly believe they can save Sarah Connor by beating the sh*t out of one of HP's budget models. Alas the blows struck weren't fatal...and laser printers hold a grudge. It's full steam ahead with power and multiple waves of melody. Gotta like the energy in this one. Riot Here! Riot Now!- "No more naps! I mean it...and get that f*cking cauliflower off my plate!" Japanese badasses Jun Iwai & Masakazu Shimodi win the title of don't f*ck around track with a straight out of the box stormer that oozes with intensity. Layers of melody and the presence of some crunchy guitar that doesn't seem out of place. Boom. Ganesh Soul- Very good track by this newcomer with yep you guessed it more layers of melody. He strangles one lead like I want to strangle those baloonheads on Fox News. Wipe that f*cking smirk off your face Steve Doocy! It loses the initial power it had, but it's still good for what appears to be the first release from this project. Kings of Camouflage- nothing to see here, keep it moving people. Aura- I didn't hear his album. Was it good? This was a little too...full-oney for my liking. Pass. Know No Silence- 18 year old (you sonofab*tch wipe that smile off your face!) Israeli Nadav Kahanowich makes some awesome goa trance. Melody + Power = wish I was 18 again. This is not your 4 on the floor type stuff. I mean yeah it gets to that, but it also has other interesting rhythms. He starts tacking on the layers for a pretty good track. Shamar- Kinda has a simple bass line, a bunch of Indian(?) chants or vocal, especially the break. I think if I was bumping this in my car, they would think I was a terrorist. Then I would be brought in for questioning, they'd check my internet history (and I definitely don't want that) and then put on the no fly list...it's a whole thing. It's a little on the thin side, but still enjoyable and pumping. Cleopatra- This gentleman needs no introduction and the soft Indian vocal means the promised land of bollywood can't be far away. Man, he shows us how it's done. Bubbling synths and bass lines, layers of 303 madness, and just smooth as silk flow. It twinkles and then growls for a great ride. One of my favorites. Sun and Snow- Artur Mataryan from Mother Russia has released several albums that are worth checking out. Here he brings rising and falling synths and layers of sound. It's got an outer space feel and is floaty. Good one. Away From Eden- Artur again to close the compilation with a short downtempo track. Big pads and percussion form the foundation with a nice flute melody. Good way to end. So it is what it is. Please overlook the cover and give this a try. Several styles of goa are represented with some good results. It's free so you have nothing to lose but time. Ektoplazm Mdk
  21. Click here for bigger image. Artist: Various Album: Shaltu Label: Suntrip Records Style: Goa Trance Tracklist: Ra - Lifethread (09:30) Crossing Mind - Hydrophobic Visions (08:48) Nebula Meltdown - Mindstream Continuum (07:40) Shakta & Deedrah - Lepton Head (Part III) (Filteria's Z-Particle Remix) (07:52) InnerSpace - InnerSpace (11:16) Ephedra & Imba - Emergency Acid System (07:58) Shani Yantra - Fractal Memories (09:05) Ra - Time Current (E-Mantra Remix) (08:34) Sirius - Universe (07:24) Before I start with Shaltu, I'm gonna go few years back in the past to do some silly math. In 2008. they released 3 compilations and 1 album, compilations wins. In 2009. they released 6 albums and 0 compilations, albums wins. In 2010. they released 2 compilations and 1 album, compilations wins. In 2011. they released 3 albums and 0 compilations, albums wins. Are they gonna continue to stick with this interesanting 'compilations-albums-compilations..'' formula/scheme in 2012 I don't know but what I do know is the fact that you can't go wrong when it comes to Suntrip's music. They're continuously pampering Goa trance fans with great releases since 2004. and it seems they aren't planning to stop. Their first official release for 2012. is compilation Shaltu and this time they're presenting (alongside with old & already known Suntrip projects) some new names. In promo text they described what Shaltu means (Shaltu, an ancient Amerindian word for the helping spirits of dancing shamans) and I decided to skip some in-depth research of indigenous tribes of America (not gonna lie you here, I love almost everything that has something in common with history and ancient civilizations, but hey, I also love to be first one who posted review for this one here on Psynews). OK, let's go, first track is Lifethread from Norwegian Goa trance heavyweights - Ra (Christer Borge-Lunde & Lars W. Lind)and from the very beginning you can feel their trademark sound - little bells and melodies swirls around while basslines slowly and subtly prepares you for rhythm. I must say that sound overall is somehow different than it was on their super-awesome 9th album, this track sounds much fatter with extra depth. First (shorter) break comes around 5th minute and it's filled with nice melodies, second one around 06:30 mark is longer and in the background you can feel beautiful layers and growth of main melody. Peak of the track comes right after and it's great. I don't know when we can expect full lenght from Ra but if it's gonna sound like Lifethread than don't be afraid, it will rock! Stéphane Bèze is man behind Crossing Mind project and he has been pretty much active recently, besides his debut album The Holographic Paradigm on DAT Records in 2010, he released an EP last year on UAF Records and now he appears here on this compilation with his track Hydrophobic Visions. Track kicks off with nice intro and a bit slower beats with catchy effects in background, atmosphere in this one is super, nice melodies swims around and you can feel their warmth. We don't have some extra huge peak(s) here, especially because it relies more on atmosphere(s) and there is no need for big build-ups and ending of Hydrophobic Visions is nice and emotinal. Like. Nebula Meltdown is one man project from Finnland of Kristian Aro, man who already released on Suntrip's Temple Of Chaos compilation. Mindstream Continuum starts something like Hydrophobic Visions a bit more slower and beat comes with awesome and psychedelic bassline, effects in background reminds me on Kali track from Quatermass project which is one of my favorite Goa trance tunes from Pulse series. First break is followed with mystique female voice and 303's in background. Mindstream Continuum is much more darker than previous two tracks. Ending of track is just perfect, wobbling acid sounds and melodies are just great. So far my favorite track on this compilation. 4th track...woah, wait, what? Shakta+Deedrah with Filteria's remix. OMG let's hear it. Forget about slow and emotional intros, there is just small speech at the beginning and the beat comes like a storm, Jannis Tzikas knows how to start a fire for sure! Retro Filteria sound is back people, this remix just bursts with energy and raw power, Lepton Head's melodies are a bit reworked but the main theme is still here and it sounds - EPIC. Orginal is a classic, without doubt, but this one isn't something that will cut off the vibe of orginal, no sir, it gives more input and it does that flawlessly. The only break is around 5th minute mark and right after comes one of the most gorgeous climaxes, ever. Pure goa trance smasher, six out of five stars. On number five is InnerSpace with self-titled track and to be honest I had to use Google for this project because I never heard anything about this guy, so my friend Google told me that InnerSpace is Jörg Schemczyk from Germany and he has been involved in psychedelic trance as a DJ and producer through last 13 years. After Filteria's remix it's somehow ungrateful to be on number 5. Well, it seems that InnerSpace isn't somebody who doesn't know how to do some Goa trance, on the contrary he does it like a baws. 11 minutes of pure madness, perfect play with melodies and effects, great storytelling until 7th/8th minute, and than...BAAAM, one of the most great acid drives ever, pure psychedelic lunacy in absolutley positive way. Don't know what conclusion to give after this one, it's probably one of the best findings of Suntrip Records for sure, and probably many people will have an eye on this guy after hearing his work on Shaltu. Emergency Acid System is collaboration work between my dear buddy Nikola Petrović (Imba), owner of Serbian UAF Records and Belgian Alexandre Cohen (Ephedra). Track starts with short speech and acid effects, soon after comes beat and 303's starts to expand slowly. EAS doesn't have any bigger breaks and it's more straight-forward Goa trance tune with basic melody that come and go from time to time. Around 7th minute melody changes and it's followed by acid effects in background, very nice climax but it's shame it didn't last that much. Not bad track, but not good either (as previous ones). According to Suntrip's promo text Fractal Memories is debut appereance of Shani Yantra and probably that's main reason why my friend Google couldn't help me out with this one, so appologies because I don't really know who this guy is. There isn't any intro in this one, track starts like a hurricane and it's more melodic and brighter than previous one. Few nice melodies around 2nd minute, it reminds me on Eleusyn's work (side project of E-Mantra). Fractal Memories is pretty much fast and energetic track but it doesn't lead me anywhere, it got decent first half but after it all repeats and I can't say that I'm thrilled. It's a debut release so I'll give some credits to this guy. Number eight is Ra's Time Current, remixed by Emmanuel Carpus, better known as E-Mantra. Emmanuel is very busy man, he is releasing uptempo (on Suntrip) and downtempo (on Altar) constantly for a few years now and people might think productivity could affect creativity, but that's not a case with E-Mantra. Last year he released album on Suntrip and now he returns with remix for Ra's classic. There isn't some huge difference between orginal and this remix, both got great storytelling, smooth and dreamy atmosphere with technical approach to melody development, the only thing that makes difference here is E-Mantra's specific sound, many people likes it so I guess that remix will get a green light from Goa trance lovers, one thing is sure he gets a lot of green light from me. Last and final track is Universe from Croatian project Sirius who currently lives in Macedonia and man behind Sirius is Mario Ruff. If I remember well, last year I bumped on his works online but they were in downtempo genre so I didn't know that he's doing uptempo stuff aswell. Universe starts with pretty much fast beat and typical Goa trance basslines, few melodies in background slowly build up track towards the first break around 4th minute. Female(?) speech and rebuild-up of melody on the break is nice, but nothing spectacular, before it ends we can hear melody like on the beginning but slightly different. Not a bad track, but it's not my style, just because it got that overused-generic-goa-trance-formula which I don't like honestly. Conclusion - Shaltu is different than other Suntrip compilations, it's not that-much into sunny Goa trance like Energy Waves, but it's not that much into darker spheres of Goa like Temple of Chaos, but yet it got some of both and it gives even more. It's hard to give definition of Shaltu, just because the fact that we got almost 80 minutes of diverse Goa trance from new and old artists and some tracks got more warmth and positive feelings while some are much more darker (using this term carefully, don't want anyone to think that they repated vibes from Temple Of Chaos) and more acidish. My favorites are: Mindstream Continuum, Lepton Head (Part III) (Filteria's Z-Particle Remix) andInnerSpace. Lifethread andTime Current (E-Mantra Remix) are also great but I'm sure others will post enough of praise for thoose two. Hydrophobic Visions is also more than solid. Mastering was done as usual by Tim Schuldt and it sounds flawless. Artwork looks organic and it got warm colours and nice tribal motives which I like but that font is just awful. You can find this release and samples for it on official Suntrip website. Have a nice day.

  23. Click here for big image Artist: SynSUN Album: Sounds Of Cosmic Lifeforms Label: Phototropic Records Style: Goa Trance Tracklist: Quazar (08:29) Space Sirens (08:34) Fight Fire With Fire (07:33) Gagarinz Trip (06:33) Medusa (05:17) Psy Hit (06:45) Protoplasma (07:45) The New Creation (2011 Mix) (07:43) First time I saw on facebook announcement for a new SynSUN remastered album on Phototropic, I wasn't that much hyped and excited about it, mostly because I'm not a big fan of previous SynSUN's re-issues on austrian based Goa trance label - Phototropic. However I decided to give a chance to Sounds Of Cosmic Lifeforms and I'm so glad that I did. First positive thing that I noticed is super-crystal clear sound and I really enjoyed listening this one on my soundspeakers (and unfortunaley I can't say same thing for 70% of Goa trance music that can be found online) so kudos to Digitoxin (Phototropic Records owner) for very solid work with mastering. Album kicks off with Quazar and it's solid Astral Projection inspired tune with interesting melody around 6th minute mark, nothing super-spectacular but overall pretty much good track for morning hours. Space Sirens got more mystique atmosphere and track overall sounds much more darker and in-your-face, however I disliked too much of heeeeya-heeeeya oriental male vocals. Third track got same name as legendary opener from Metallica's Ride The Ligthening (Fight Fire With Fire), at the very first minute we can hear nice acid wobbles with guitar riffs in background, with nice build-up but it doesn't lead anywhere. Next one is Gagarinz Trip and it's true goa trance beast, powerful drum-kick with swirling melodies and effects in background are just sweet as hell, love every second of it, especially after 5th minute - nice Filteria/Pleiadians melodic build-up for a perfect peak and ending. So far this one is pure winner. Medusa is the name of next track and it starts pretty much simple and not-so-much innovative and I got feeling that this one is more like some work in progress track, not happy about it. Luckly, next track Psy Hit starts nicely and right after 2nd minute mark we got epic melody in background, it just perfectly describes the title of album, pure interstellar trance ride through Cosmos. Pity, ending of track is a bit harsh, but hey, after Medusa this one was superb. By the way, who came with such a awful name Psy Hit? Lucky number 7 is Protoplasma, nice party track with straight-forward attitude, nothing super-special, nice goa trance groove with solid synth-work. Last track is The New Creation (2011 Mix) and it got same mystique atmosphere like Space Sirens from the beginning of this CD. This one got also heavy usage of Trance-Dance or Ionized-a-like melodic parts and actually I like it a lot (not saying that we got copycats, just that I like that melodic feeling in the track), anyways, super track for ending of this *I must say short* 60-minutes album. Conclusion - Very nice goa trance album with some lovely tracks like: Gagarinz Trip (III), Quazar (II), The New Creation (2011 Mix) (II) and some not so lovely: Medusa & Fight Fire With Fire. It will probably find it's place in homes of many old/newschool goa trance addicts, especially because we are talking about SynSUN and they aren't some obscure project, they got impressive discography, no matter the fact that I personaly dislike the most of it, especially their recent full-on stuff. Just to mention that I find this cover artwork ugly as hell and I don't like it at all, orginal version looks just epic. For previews or orders you can check out Psyshop or Phototropic Records website.

Q.P.A - Alien Inspiration Neo Goa inception (EP) Artist: Q.P.A Release: Alien Inspiration Neo Goa inception Genre: Psy Trance / Neo Goa Label: Lua Records Catalog N: LUARCD023 Release Date: 12/03/2012 Format: CD & Download UPC: 932342 867587 About the Artists: When QPA came in contact with the psychedelic subculture it inspired him to investigate its most vital part, namely the music. He soon discovered that psychedelic trance music represent so much more than what you can hear. To Qubenzis Psy Audio it represents a symbiosis of nature, technology, spirituality and music. A kind of electronic shamanism. A high tech Gnostic search for inner self in connection with the Universe at large. It's all in the music... just dance. Alien Inspiration / Neo Goa Inception is the third release of Q.P.A. Not only... Qubenzis Psy Audio has been in music for many years producing other music styles, including samples and loop packs for many artists and own production. About the Release: The anti-industrial adoption of advanced electronic music technology for the healing of a planet gone insane. The infinite cosmic party welcomes everybody for a grand experience of unity and peace... forever... The psychedelic patterns, rhythms and melodies in this sonically detailed production by QPA are inspired by the Goa psytrance music concept. Though, of course, mixed with a good portion of QPA's original sound. A production suitable for the festival dance floor, clubs, as well as for listening only. 25. Greeting fellow trancers! I've completed my first track since Protostar EP, released in 2011 by Underground Alien Factory Records. Despite being released in 2011, all four tracks from this EP were actually written between 2007 and 2009. So with the completion of this new track I finally ended my 3-year hiatus from music production! I will admit it's a little all-over-the-place, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. At 110 bpm it's kinda slow for Trance and kinda fast for Downtempo. It has three distinct movements - a break-beat intro, a trance movement, and a downtempo movement. Here it is: For some reason even when set to 720p YouTube really messes with the audio quality... especially in the very beginning. A higher quality version can be heard on my own site, on my Discography Page. As always, honest feedback is appreciated! /Malachyte
