  2. The Gen Eris Device is my first complete Goa trance track. It has hints of ambience and darkness and a few little surprises in the later stages of the track. It is called Gen Eris as I was originally aiming for something a little closer to generic Goa trance than my earlier output but it ended up being very much of its own style, I think. You may know I am quite new to this so I would greatly appreciate any feedback, positive or negative. Thanks.

  4. Hei trippers and trancers, this is a label announcement with news + updates on whats going on within KER. discogs: https://www.discogs.com/label/1393052-Kali-Earth-Records bandcamp: https://kaliearth.bandcamp.com/ Kali Earth was established as a new label on the 28th of December 2017. The first release was on the same night. The release is a single track by Material Music (a talented artist) given to the psytrance event organizer Love&Magic, in 2015. It was only now let loose, just the way it is. A proper Record label, i think we most agree on is a label that publish and release physical formats (CD, Vinyl) as well as the new digital formats like i.e FLAC and Wav. We've chosen a tad unconventional way of starting up the label in these new times. Therefor we use mainly Bandcamp but we will when things are more ready and steady move onto other distributor pages as well to be more accessible to the general wider public. Right now, we only offer a CDr/Files of our debut release (KER001) . And the single is a grower, so expect it to get more tracks added soon.... Our aim is in general great psytrance and chillout music, and we're not afraid of pushing the envelope or to creating a new style on the way. The label name Kali Earth Records is in direct inspiration to the legendary label, Shiva Space Technology (SST). In retrospect, you could say that the world is also too full of bad kali, and hence, Kali Earth Records. We come with much love, and true peace of mind. Boom shanti *

  6. Moon Tripper - Hypnotic Frequencies Altar Records - ARCDA130 I hadn't heard of Moon Tripper before, the Dubai-based artist Brad Ashtar. I came across this album because I enjoy psychill and want to start posting reviews of new music here so I was looking over Altar Records' recent catalog. 1. Moon Tripper – Inside Your Head 13:03 2. Astral Waves – Black Panther Medicine (Moon Tripper Remix) 10:15 3. Moon Tripper – Mystical Realm 6:57 4. Moon Tripper – Transcendental 7:15 5. Moon Tripper – Arise 6:00 6. Moon Tripper – Hypnotic Frequencies 6:59 7. Moon Tripper – Dopamine 7:55 8. Moon Tripper – Spiritual Smiles 8:53 9. Moon Tripper – Elevated State 8:00 10. Moon Tripper – Earth's Consciousness 6:46 1. Inside Your Head: This has a lovely long build up with mysterious pads, slow flute, growly synth sounds, what I think is a sitar sound, tribal drums and later a nice kick and bass come in. A little reminiscent of Elysium to me but with the psy turned down and ambience cranked up I suppose. 6/10 2. Black Panther Medicine (Moon Tripper Remix): We start with some tribal voices and cool drippy sounds. The kick and bass makes it sound a little bit dark and we have some nice somewhat tribal percussion coming in then some really trippy melodic synths. Nice. 9/10 3. Mystical Realm: This track is harder and a lot more psychedelic than the earlier ones but still has a lot of ambience. A nice, slightly more irregular beat. 7/10 4. Transcendental: We continue the harder psychedelic theme with this one which is really nice with layers of squelchy synths and still little bits of ambience sprinkled in here and there. 8/10 5. Arise: A mystical sparkley opening with a female voice and some flutey ambiences. Then the driving kick and bass come in quite near the start and groovy synth stabs. It feels more ambient than the previous track whilst maintaining the pace and energy. 7/10 6. Hypnotic Frequencies: For the title track we're back to harder psy again with some really tasty acid lines. The production quality is nice and the pads envelope you with a real sense of depth and immersion. If you only have time for one track, listen to this one. 9/10 7. Dopamine: This sounds closer to pure psytrance to me. The light sort of synth-almost-a-flute melody is nice from about 1:40. Past the halfway mark I must admit I was losing interest a bit but the closing parts of the track were a bit better. As mainly a Goa fan I may not be the target audience. 5/10 8. Spiritual Smiles: It opens with chanting, then the standard kick and bass, and a fairly laid back mood with lots of weird ambient sounds and one meandering synth. Then from around 4 minutes we get nice acid coming in. A trippy breakdown where the chanting comes back. 8/10 9. Elevated State: This one is some crazy mind jumbling psytrance. Sounds to me a bit like darkpsy with the tempo turned down slightly. 6/10 10. Earth's Consciousness: We end with another serviceable psytrance track that's well put together but not really my cup of tea. 5/10 As primarily a Goa fan who also enjoys psychill and ambient but is less keen on modern psy, I find this album a bit of a mixed bag, but the good bits are great and the rest of it I certaintly wouldn't mind having on in the background. I deliberately listened to this before trying any of Moon Tripper's older music. It will be interesting to see if that is more to my tastes. 6/10 https://moon-tripper.bandcamp.com/album/hypnotic-frequencies?label=3714585001&tab=music

  11. Artist: Various Title: New Blood II Label: Timecode Records Date: October, 2008 1. Principles of Flight - Oblivion 2. Artifakt Vs. Lost & Found - Checkmate 3. Rubix Qube - Enter the Dojo 4. Phyx - Freejack 5. Cybernetix - Root Complex 6. Tryambaka - Evil Mistress 7. EMP - Attack of the Moose 8. Tickets - Harpsicheek 9. Pitch Hikers - 40 Days Oh Timecode...why have you forsaken us? What is this new land we find ourselves in? It is in truth perplexing. Either we have been submerged into a cesspool of commercialism where the next buildup and drum fill is more epic than the last. Or we have descended into madness where once again melody is treated like the clap and atmosphere has all but evaporated. In truth I don't blame you Timecode, the once mighty label that forced imitators to their knees and rumbled the very Earth upon which they trod. I miss the post apocalyptic atmospheres, the rumbling bass, and the sinister melodies of what seems long ago. The label has now morphed into Sangoma Records and doesn't hold the same appeal. Shame. Rest assured that the window panes of my ample dwelling reverberate with furious anger from your releases. This is one such compilation. Oblivion- The mood is dark and eerie with a great POF track to open. Not a lot of melody, but power and fear can go a long way. Checkmate- Can a track be both funky and foreboding? *Alex Trebek enters* "A horse, sounds of torture, and a chess match play by play." What is the break room of my former employer on a Friday? This is a delectable groove and demands movement. Crazy dynamic collaboration between these two great artists. Enter the Dojo- more big beats and acid. This was more of a straight ahead beating rather than a track that attempts to tell a story. Use it accordingly. Freejack- This is another great, groovy track that will raise the blood pressure. Easy to get caught up in the swirl of acid. The only thing keeping it from legendary status was the buildup at the end. Root Complex- Machine humming sci-fi psychedelia that could've been more. Good, but left me wanting. Evil Mistress- Pounding soundtrack to a bad trip. Lovely. Attack of the Moose- is more high tempo, minor key madness. Quite the mover. Harpsicheek- This is Tickets taking psytrance to a place that it was won't to go. More involved full-on, but still heavy with the acid. Good stuff. 40 Days- I was getting ready to hit you with the meh shoulders, but then the 2nd half of the track happened. Man I miss the good old days of Timecode. Back when they and Nexus Media were at the forefront of dark melodic music. This is super stuff with power, acid, and moody atmospheres. Unfortunately they don't make 'em like this no more. Can't go wrong with this trip down memory lane. Timecode Bandcamp Beatspace Digital
  12. Artist: Hydraglyph Title: Euphonics Label: Nexus Media Date: June, 2007 1. Red Tide 2. Nowhere Near (Shady Mix) 3. Somebody Else 4. Piece By Piece 5. Nightmare 6. Evenflow 7. Astraction 8. Venus 9. Tetris Bender 10. Ultrasound (Rmx) It's raining/sleeting/snowing right now and for some reason I decided to say a few words about this release. We are all familiar with the quality of Nexus Media at the time who were on the forefront of powerful, sinister South African psytrance. This was the second release from Andrew Morgan & Mark Ackermann. Aside from the Condition Black remix I found their debut Kinetic to be a steaming bowl of meh. So....low bar everyone. Now normally Ormion and I are simpatico when it comes to the blessing that is this type of psytrance. He didn't care for it, but I liked its punishing, dark vibe, It was bruising, mechanical, and came at you with a sense of foreboding that still sounds pretty good today. Parts sound dirty...like discarded, corroded metal and I like that apocalyptic atmosphere. Now let's be clear it is not without its flaws. Some empty stretches and questionable sound choices and samples can make the eyes roll a bit. South African Full-on is still full-on. And certainly some projects have done it waaay better. But 12 years old...things tend to get a little stale after that amount of time and I felt this still had some freshness. Far from a classic, but I also don't think it is remotely close to a flop. 15. "Initial Landing" by Lunar Dawn is a mesmerizing fusion of Goa and Psy Trance that takes listeners on a mind-bending journey through pulsating beats, intricate soundscapes, and hypnotic melodies. Drawing inspiration from their previous release, "Sonar Storm," Lunar Dawn expertly blends the elements of trance and psytrance to create a transcendent sonic experience. This captivating track is just a glimpse of what awaits on their upcoming EP, "Abyss," promising an unparalleled musical voyage that will leave you yearning for more. Released on 19.02.2024. at our official Lunar Dawn Bandcamp Sasha and Chris, embarked on a daring mission to the Abyss for the second time. Their goal was to make an initial landing on a recently discovered lost temple, which was teeming with enigmatic symbols and relics that held a secret the world had forgotten for millennia. The lost temple had lain dormant for centuries, shrouded in mystery and guarded by the depths of the ocean. It was said to hold a power capable of shaping the very fabric of the ocean itself, and awakening the forces that slumbered beneath the waves. It was this power that had disrupted their sonar and piqued their curiosity, driving them to uncover the truth behind the disturbances. As Sasha and Chris descended into the depths, they encountered a world unlike any other—mysterious creatures, ancient ruins, and a sense of awe that surrounded them. The more they delved into the temple's secrets, the more they unearthed an understanding of the ancient civilization that had once thrived in this underwater realm. The enigmatic symbols and relics they discovered revealed a connection to the underwater mystic interference, hinting at a deeper, more profound purpose. As they made their way through the temple, the plot became increasingly tangled, as they encountered challenges, puzzles, and obstacles that seemed to be guarding the long-forgotten secret of the ancient civilization. With each discovery, the lines between fantasy, mystery, and science fiction blurred, as they uncovered the existence of advanced technology and mythical powers that had been thought to exist only in legends. The journey became a race against time and rival factions seeking to harness the temple's power for their own purposes. Amidst the adventure and peril, Sasha and Chris found themselves navigating through a web of intrigue, deceit, and ancient prophecies. They encountered allies and foes, each with their own motivations and agendas, as they struggled to piece together the true nature of the temple and its significance to the world above. Ultimately, as they unraveled the secrets of the lost temple and the ancient civilization, they realized that the power they sought was not just a force of nature, but a catalyst for change that could alter the very balance of the ocean and its inhabitants. In a thrilling climax, they made a choice that would determine the fate of the temple and its power, and ultimately, the fate of the world itself. It was a testament to the boundless wonders that lay hidden beneath the waves, waiting to be unearthed by those brave enough to seek them out. The story is about to be continued... 16. "Sonar Storm" by Lunar Dawn is an electrifying new track that delves into the depths of both Goa and Psy Trance. With pulsating beats, hypnotic melodies, and intricate soundscapes, this song takes listeners on a cosmic journey through swirling synths and trippy rhythms. Lunar Dawn duo blends elements of trance and psytrance, creating an immersive and captivating sonic experience that will leave you craving for more. Release is scheduled on 11.02.2024. at our official Lunar Dawn Bandcamp Sonar Storm single release is beginning of wider story to be unveiled with next single which will follow soon after this one. This track is first part of double single release and following EP named "Abyss" which will round up with one extra track added to it. As the parts will be released, the story behind the tracks will be revealed. The story unfolds as it follows: As the sun dipped below the horizon, the waters off the coast of Bermuda turned dark and foreboding. The two seasoned divers, Sasha and Kris, had planned a routine sonar mapping mission to explore a mysterious trench in the ocean floor. Little did they know that their expedition would soon turn into a heart-pounding mystery and adventure. Equipped with state-of-the-art sonar instruments, Sasha and Kris descended into the depths. Their mission was going smoothly until they encountered a sudden disturbance in the sonar instrument. The display overloaded with an influx of data, causing a sonar storm that sent powerful waves of feedback reverberating through the water. The divers struggled to maintain their composure as the sonar's malfunction caused disorientation and confusion. As they attempted to recalibrate the sonar, they began to notice strange occurrences around them. Eerie sounds echoed through the water, and mysterious shapes seemed to move just beyond their field of vision. It was as if the ocean itself was alive with some mystic interference, guiding and obstructing their path at the same time. Determined to get to the bottom of the strange events, Sasha and Kris pressed on, even as the sonar storm intensified. They uncovered fragments of an ancient artifact that hinted at an unknown civilization lurking in the depths. In their pursuit of the truth, the divers found themselves entangled in a web of intrigue and danger, as forces beyond their understanding sought to draw them deeper into the abyss. As they delved deeper into the trench, the sea seemed to rebel against their presence, unleashing a tempest of otherworldly turbulence. The ocean itself seemed to rise against them, urging them to turn back. But the two divers were not easily deterred. They pressed forward, driven by the tantalizing allure of the mysteries hidden within the depths. Finally, at the heart of the trench, they discovered the source of the disturbances: a long-forgotten temple, built by a civilization lost to time. It emanated an aura of ancient power, and as they ventured inside, they were confronted by the truth behind the sonar storm and the mystic interference. The temple, teeming with enigmatic symbols and relics, held a secret that had lain dormant for millennia—a power capable of shaping the very fabric of the ocean itself, and awakening the forces that slumbered beneath the waves. It was this power that had disrupted their sonar, and now threatened to consume them in its wake. In a pulse-pounding climax, Sasha and Kris navigated the treacherous depths of the temple, narrowly avoiding the perils that lurked within. As they unearthed the truth behind the disturbances, they also unearthed an understanding of the ancient civilization and its connection to the underwater mystic interference. Emerging from the temple, the divers managed to restore harmony to the ocean, allowing the natural order to reign once more. Their expedition not only uncovered a lost chapter of history but also solidified their place as explorers of the unknown, forever changed by their encounter with the abyssal anomaly. With the mysteries of the deep unveiled, Sasha and Kris returned to the surface, eager to share their extraordinary sonic tale of adventure and discovery with the world. There is more to come. It's essential and necessary and sometimes that means that you put your life aside for a moment for a higher purpose. . . Filthy Goa Trance The musical styling of this release was a surprise. The cover gives it away but still, when I think Lunar Dawn I think tribal Eastern European melodies n rhythms'. Well not no more, this sounds like the creation of hanging Lunar Dawn in a cage with UX over the volcanic pit of our past and our future for 3 years. That changes a man. As always, if you want people to keep making this music for our sweet little minds then giving them money for their work is a pretty good incentive. https://neogoarecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-purge

  22. The sound of Barby is a force to be reckoned with, honed and distinctive, blending an infusion of dark industrial soundscapes into a web of psychedelia. Open your ears, expand your mind and enjoy the ride! Barby is the psytrance & chillout project sculptured and launched in 1999 by one of the first Chilean trance musicians, Ignacio Barbagelata. Barby soon began performing and building a reputation as a trance artist, performing at local clubs, outdoor parties, festivals, and then joining collaborative forces with Chilean producer Ovnimoon in a collective called Psychedelic Shiva. With "Infiltrator", his official debut album released in 2012 on Ovnimoon Records, Barby exploded into the top 10 of the psytrance charts! “Logos” became the first release on his own label Barby Records, with distribution by Revolt Digital, a netlabel managed by the legendary British duo ManMadeMan. “Nexus” and “Anaconda” EPs and Barby’s first downtempo album titled “Imagine” were distributed by the largest psytrance and chillout netlabel, Ektoplazm. 2021 welcomed the release of Barby’s third album “Spectre”, with a plethora of tracks and releases out on Ovnimoon Records, Metabolizm Records and SpaceWarp Records, Barby paved the way forward closing 2022 with his heart stopping fourth album release “Mythologies”. Barby's honed and distinctive style combines an infusion of dark and industrial elements into trance while staying true to the roots of Goa and its ancient transcendental essence.
