  1. Virgil Enzinger- Lost souls Aw yes, hard, relentless, banging and deep as the deepest realms of hell german techno Not that terrible who knows how many bpms bang-your-head-against the wall schranz music that kids pop pills to, but the german techno I wanted to hear. Think of C. Liebing from his best days, and a pinch more of harshness!

I only bought this one because of abasio's infinte praise :clapping: In fact, Hymn has become my all time favorite ambient tune, and I urge any fan of soothing and relaxing music to purchase this land mark album! This isn't much of a review, but I hope I'll get away with this post, since I wrote a more thorough analysis ^^^
  5. Check the first post for still available items.
  6. A hit or miss live act experience IMHO. They (he) can deliver, and make everyone's heads do a 720, but they can also be a run of the mill lazy act and bore me to death. Actually, that doesn't set them apart from any live act, as each and every electronic music DJ/producer/performer has a rainy day over their head every once in a while.
  7. Despite their inappropriate behavior on numerous occasions right here on this forum, I am sad about the demise of Metapsychic Records. When somebody is trying to do something positive, and gets his light burnt out so abruptly, it never leaves me flat. Pointing fingers, however, is not something I approve- it is like throwing sand into one's eyes during a bare fist fight. It is below the belt and dirty. What has happenned is now done. Over. Leave it behind and move on. I will. Enjoy the Mindsphere album... Forget the negativity, think positive, people However, to add a little something to amphition's and Pavane's discussion: money owns and runs everything. Unfortunately, the more time goes by, concepts like friendship, loyalty, respect and similar are all falling into some kind of utopic category of abstract terms... For a vast majority, that is, as there are always people out there staying true to themselves and their word. And no, a small and supposedly fair goa/psy trance community is NO exception. In the words of those Wu Tang Clan MCs: C.R.E.A.M. (cash reules everything around me)...
  8. Mastering is an aspect of the music I could give a shit about. This album has soul and sounds great. Technical imperfections and eventual setbacks get beat down due to Mindsphere's warm and trancy melodies And there I was starting to think this guy was losing it after the IMHO pretty cheesy and trying too hard Perception track off of V/A Human Hyperactivation. After two solid listens, one of which last night long time after 12 o'clock and the other today afternoon, I can say that "Inner cyclone" is a very good, if not extremely moving piece of old school goa trance.

  10. Regardless of the genre, this is my all time favorite album cover: Other cool covers would be...: Pretty simple, yet instantly memorable and effective
  11. I know exactly where this is! Who's running it? When/how did this happen? I've heard 0% information about this in Zagreb...
  12. Plastikman- Recycled Plastik Artist: Richie Hawtin Album: Recycled Plastik Format: CD Year of release: 1994 Label: NovaMute (US) Catalog #: NMCD 3019 Genre: Electronic Tracklisting: #01 Krakpot (11:13) #02 Elektrostatik (9:59) #03 Spaz (7:41) #04 Gak (Remix) (6:52) #05 Naturalistik (4:39) #06 Spastik (9:19) Total running time: 49:43 Try to picture a heavily pissed off man sitting in the living room of his fourth floor appartment. He suddenly grabs the two nearest objects within his reach, which just happen to be a Roland TB-808 and a Roland TB-303, and throwing them out of the window out on the street. Five minutes later, coming to realize what he has done, he quickly runs down, picks up all the pieces, no matter the size, goes back to his appartment and starts reassembling the instruments, guided plainly by his memory. Once the restoration is complete, and a few spliffs later, he begins to compose music, only this time aided by 808's sister, the Roland TB-909 ... Basically, the above written paragraph is how I imagined Richie Hawtin back when I thought his name was another way of saying 24 carat gold. Led by the immense success of his debut album under the Plastikman moniker, "Sheet One", Richie Hawtin collected a few of his early Plastikman tracks, added two (back then) newer tunes, and pushed out a 49 minute long "Recycled Plastik" release. Back in the day, for those who refused to hear it the first time around, by 1994 there was no more debate: minimal was the way. A track by track review is out of the question today, as most already know what this one packs, and those who don't hopefully won't waste much time... All you need to know is that on this particular shiny piece of plastic, you can find "Krakpot", "Elektrostatik" and "Spastik". These three tracks, more than any other, perfectly sum up everything Plastikman was about back then. Or, if you disagree, everything I thought he was about; rolling percussion, hi hats, cymbals, snares and drum kicks all stripped down to their core elements, wobbling and hypnotizing aceiiiiiiiid lines and more minimalsim than minimal techno ever needed to hear. Despite making it sound like I was describing a raging, harsh and in-your-face bullet of techno music, quite to the contrary, the greatest aspect of Plastikman's music, if there ever was one, is that his releases pack so much more than unvelied upon initial listens. Minimal, yeah, but simple and not engaing- hell no! I remember how the more I listened to this stuff, the less I became attached to the reiteration of the music, and went deeper, exploring the moods, atmospheres and shifting from one corner of my left speaker to the right one of the other. Despite sounding very aged now, this is the essence of minimalistic sound. To end, going back to what I wrote a few lines up, I would not know what to say today, but some years down the memory lane, and yes, minimal truly was the way to walk.
  13. I have 'em all on original CDs, except Ka-Sol's "Fairytale" album, which I illegally donwloaded off Soulseek... I do feel bad about it, and I've been planning to buy it ever since, but I somehow always menage to let it sneak out of my shopping cart My faves...: 1) Khetzal- Corolle 2) Goasia- From other spaces 3) V/A Twist Dreams ... and so forth
  14. Killargh debate I am so right it would just feel wrong if I don't jump on the smiley band wagon:
  15. +1 Due to its limited edition, immaculate execution in displaying gorgeous, soothing atmospheres and great music, in the years to come, this could & should become a true and modern ambient classic. A marvellous album. It is very rare I get so touched and moved by this type of music, and even find the whole Ultimae hype waaaaay over the top, but this is just Electric Universe- Cosmic experience (Spirit Zone Records) (2004) Hate it or love it to death, but 10 years from now, this is the album people will want to hear when asking around for some good, energetic full on spiced with "ancient" school elements! Khetzal- Corolle (Suntrip Records) (2005) I don't know why... I am way too biased here, but this is such a marvellous album. Old school influences and ideas brought in a state-of-the-art way. Great! Outolintu- Odd man out (Faerie Dragon Records) (2007) For a great funky and very groovy blend of dance friendly and wicked suomi sounds
  16. I dunno about Juno Reactor, I think their albums got sold out rather quick, but "Labyrynth", "Shango" and "Odyssey" should be rather easy to find and for reasonable prices too, even at discogs. Maybe you should try the MELT2000 web page for the Juno releases... As for the FSOL album, I think that even your local music shops sells them. I know I can still find them in Zagreb, and if Zagreb sells 'em, I reckon you can find them anywhere
  17. All the overwhelming optimism and hopes of a sudden ressurection set aside, I thought that Metapsychic Records and Trancefrom Records both had their candles burn out, so to speak. Anyways, right now I'm digging out my "Calling Earth" 12" by Yves Deruyter. I could give a flying fuck whether it is goa or not- I'm keeping the old school alive in my own living room. YAY! Anyways, from my point of view, there is a time and place for everything in history. Certain things just unwillingly may seem out of place when attempted to be brought back. Yeah, I was always a promoter of the whole do what you feel & feel what you do rhetoric, so if old school goa trance is what gives you the shivers down your spine, I'm with you. But the whole come back idea is a bit over the top in my opinion. What I mean is, the old school was here, it arrived, climaxed, bowed down in front of the audience and slowly walked off the stage to get replaced by the next act... Why the hell don't hip hop fans bitch (not as often) about the return of Eric B. & Rakim, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Ultramagnetic MC's N.W.A.?
  18. Goasia has been around for quite some time now. If my memory stands correct, Balint Tihamer was the founding member, and some of his tracks like "Calypso" and "Devil's Attack" date way back to the days of Y2K. As far as I'm concerned, the noteworthy breakthrough came with 2004 compilation and two amazing tracks: "Ghetto" and "Paranoid". A year later, and the project got a new addition, Vladislav Radulovic. Both of them being acquaint with the old school sound, it wasn't long (2006) before their split album with Omegahrtz, Purple Energy 2, hit the shelves, on the greek based Unicorn Music label. As one thing eventually leads to the other, it was about time they released a proper, full lenghth album. Since nice stuff occurs to those who tend to wait, here it is: From Other Spaces, released on the three feet high and rising label Suntrip Records has arrived, and lets see what it has to offer… The cover art, much talked about and debated is not bad per se, I just find it inferior to the original one, but what can be done now anyways. Looks like, more or less, the typical symmetrical, Matsuri-like inspired cover. Which is not a sin, far from it; you want to pursue the old school, then you gotta do it right, no? That is, until I pick up the CD from the tray, and run into a fish smacked in the middle of the sleeve behind the CD tray. Anybody, care to explain or elaborate the symbolic or metaphoric significance of a fish taking place on a cover of a goa trance album? Whatever, as if the fish can ruin an impatient man's listening experience! But now to our muttons, as it's about time we ventured into the music, as there are high expectations to be met: #1 Intro- the introductory sequence, so to present it, closes in at a little under three minutes, and it is not really a track on its own. Accompanied with a …spiritualism… meditation… sample, it is more of a break beatish and atmospheric entrée into… #2 Love & Peace- Where the album really takes off! From the first kick forth you know this belongs in the old school realm. You know, the place where flamedancers, wicked party people, smiles and melody driven tunes dwell all day ey' day! This is some uplifting music for sure, just what it takes to put a rainbow over your head during these moist and obscure autumn afternoons. Not that I want to point fingers and search for the prominent ingredient here, but the kick just has to triumphantly swipe away the rest here! #3 Space Travellers- how old school can an old school track's name get? Well, "Space Travellers" is on some Prana-esque shiznit, but this voyage in time and space is conducting to some fresh, unexplored dance floors. On the path of the previous number, this is 100% forged to the maximum satisfaction of the dance crwod. Top of the line music for a top of the morning to ya, and if that light hearted melody from 06:00 doesn't do you justice, I don't know what will. #4 From Other Spaces- Bass in your face, in the words of one Chuck D, and no, I would not settle for anything else. If bassdrums is what you're looking for, then put the compass down, and get your headphones or your dance sneaker on, volume to the max, and get busy! Hands and feet together high in the air, this has got to be the best this album has offered thus far- fast, pumping and peppered with a sprightly melody, this is the Goasia I love! Don't know if I'm right or wrong, but it brings back memories of „Spiritual Connection“, another one of their favorites. Whether or not the break was obligatory, you decide, but on a personal level, I could have made it through without the 30 second interruption of the track's flow. The sample's triviality is arguable, as the amount of resembling ones we've been exposed to throughout the years in beyond countability, but everything they supply us with after the 06:15 mark on my CD player comes across as a skillfully cut 'n' polished 24 carat diamond. Grrrrreat track. #5 Octagon- "Octagon" brings some erratic melodies, I get the impression of Goasia really playing around and drawing the maximum out of their synths. The kick is toned down in favor of numerous sounds and FX patterns steadily taking turns during the nine minutes the track spans through. Don't misunderstand as there is no random factor in arranging these melodic passages; they compliment each other to quite some effect, while being fluently and reciprocally replaced. The entire track transmits the image of an artist's palette with a wide array of effects and great tones taking turns in rotation, once again suitable for the most demanding dance floor. Halfway through the album, and I've heard nothing less but ace music! #6 Liquid Soul- More madness from the never ending kingdom of stomping beats, frantic bass lines and unbridled melodies and fast & furios paces! Great stuff from the serbian duo. Just check that breaking point at 02:30 for a sonic explosion. To hell with it, this track is a hydrogen bomb raid during your local summer festival! Well, actually it's an party instigator of the highest order regardless of the season or time of the day. This is thy type of music I'd play when driving through you block, neighbourhood or project housing, trying to impress. No doubt this would leave two thirds of your block for two weeks in a state of mind altering after shock. What a fantastic tune! There isn't a single unstable, or liquid- to what the title may suggest, element here- from the blazing melody, to the above mentioned component parts. This lends itself well to the final countdown, before the DJ launches the party up and far away to Milky Way! #7 Taboo- By definition, the track's title would mean: seperated, placed or set apart as sacred or profane; forbbiden for general use. I see no other way to lock this one up, except for accusing it of being an arsonist! Burn, party people, burn- and take the by now torched dance podiums with you ! Old schhol conveyed in a way to make you drool all over your hi fi equipment. If by now nobody has, let me make it publically known: not dancing to this is taboo. Tucked under their fat belt buckle, it seems like Goasia has yet another one from soon to be sure shot party favorites to pick from. If I had to point out a distinguishable characteristic that makes this music so great, it would just have to be the perfect blend of various constituent elements; you don't ever get the idea Goasia exaggerates or over applies the same formula or sound. Everything is employed just to the limit of making it sound perfect, for whatever purpose you want it to be! #8 Per Aspera Ad Astra- If I was any more eloquent, maybe I could expand the repertoire of my english terminology, and by not saying in a thousand different ways how good does this album get, I'd have recourse to an overall more extended vocab, maybe making this a more pleasing read for whoever might be reading. For now, all I will say is that the female vocal used in this track, combined with that killer melody, and whatever else your ear sight hopefully will catch on to is just fantastic. I think this is only the second track on this album, after the title number, which is inclined to using samples, but strike me Zeus with a 10,000 volt lightning bolt if they are not used perfectly! Closing in towards the album's final moments, it seems only to get better, better and better… #9 Sunrise- Here it is, "Sunrise", the most talked about track ever since the samples appeared. It is no surprise either, as this is most probably the most atypical uptempo tune Goasia has crafted up to this present day. No, it's not full-on. But it is a great, somewhat lighter journey to the more emotional side of trance music. Well, you might find that kind of a corny way to put it, but I find these, should I say soulful excursions beyond the surface of music very rare today, and when they are attmepted, they seldom sound right. Most of today's allegedly touching and soothing music from my viewpoint stands as shallow as a frying pan filled with water, if that made any sense. „Sunrise“ is an honestly beautuful track, which means it's way more than just dance orientated, pumping kicks and cool bassdrums tricks and treats. While it contains all of that, just for the record, it has that extra touch, that one bonus point extra you very oftern give up getting or hearing on a lot of modern releases. They pulled it off: it certainly is very old schoolish, but why complain? If making it old school was the best way to reach out and touch the masses, why not do it? A wonderful and gorgeous journey into a state of trance, which will hopefully stand the test of time and inspire many future generations and artists alike. It is way to early to call it Goasia's magnum opus, but as of now, it is right up there, near the swift summits of the sea… #10 Pray For Rain- I won't stop and describe the last, downtempo stop on this album, because "Pray For Rain" is an older track, I think around two years ago was the time I first heard it. Not by any means is it a bad one, I was just surprised ever since initially getting familiar with the tracklist that Goasia would not produce a brand new track for a brand new album. So, for newbies, I doubt you will find much to rant about, and as for us who've been around for a while, take this as a chance to regenerate the subject-matter, so to speak. A slower, vocal inspired and led outroductory track, well deserved after around seventy minutes of action packed goa trance. Well done Goasia! Overall, Goasia does deliver. I hardly think there is anything I left out whilst reviewing the tracks, and if I did, it was not done on purpose- I most probably got carried away by the music. You will understand once this gem of an album finds its way into your CD player. This is goa trance done the proper way. I see no way a dance crowd not being driven into a frenzy with this type of music. Likewise, I hardly see anybody not getting at least half an hour of top notch quality home listening time! How this stands compared to other Suntrip Records releases? Well enough, would be my verdict. Not as climatic and overdone as Filteria's albums, not as eastern inspired as Khetza'l debut album and not as scando mental alienation inducing stuff courtesy of Ka-Sol! But, if you've ever heard Goasia, you should have an idea of what to expect. If you are looking for some really steady flowing, friendly on the ears, simultaneously driving and pumping music, as far as the year 2007 goes, this is not likely to get out matched. Highly recommended, especially to and for… Everyone!!! Dance or die!
  19. I actually enjoy this sound much more than his old school one Anyways, there is probably a fairly decent reason for it too, namely that time after time I failed to get into any of those Hypnotic releases. I noticed over the years how that label has its own little cult of dedicated followers, but the music released on it never really spoke to me, or made me wanna dance, for what it matters. I didn't find the releases themselves bad, I just never discovered anything breathtakingly amazing about them either. As for Optimystique, maybe if I could still trace down a copy anywhere, I'd give it another spin, but that is not likely to happen, since from what I've heard, it's a pretty hard one to find.
  20. Psychaos- Acidica I guess this is somewhat wilder and crazier than Chaos To Order... Syb Unity Nettwerk- Tripperspaced This is the shit- Kris Klyven probably hitting his peak, IMHO. This is so wild, layered, hard and out of control, I find it incredible. It beats any of his other stuff! Solar Quest- Harmonation 22 minutes of old school acid wizardry courtesy of mr. Saunders Four Carry Nuts- Nuts without sugar Balances perfectly between a more melodic & wicked, wild as hell goa trance banger Tandu- Alien pump :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: Bypass Unit- Lunar senses Yikes, this is sooooooooo good! Moonweed- It happens Fast, furious, hard and acidic more than you want it to be. This is it too! This is the track you always wanted to hear, but never found. You thought no one would ever produce it, but it's been here all the time. Well, there you go...
  21. Yeah, true... This one stopped being the ultimately rare collectors item some years ago... There is stuff out there far more rare and hard to get I would just LOVE to own, but have never seen anywhere... Anyways, until "Tetrahedron" does not get a proper CD release it heavily deserves, it is going to stay as simple yellow folder on my monitor: nothing more, nothing less. Which ultimately is a shame, since there are some fine tracks on this one.
  22. This is the Nova Tekk version right? I like that one "more" as well, mainly due to the absolutely fabulously enhanced cover art, and the nicer image on the CD surface. One curiosity: Did you buy it from Thomas on discogs?
  23. Texas Faggott is gone, these two reserved for the moment...
  24. Once again I'll say it: this guy cause me no trouble whatsoever. As a matter of fact, for a while there, he even made me feel kinda rich. Too bad money burns out faster than the speed of sound...
  25. Hard and minimal? Hmh... Surgeon & Regis AKA British Murder Boys (their solo work might do as well) The works of Pascal F.E.O.S. from that era when his "The essence of minimalistic sound" came out Speedy J is abso-fucking-lutely necessary here: check out "A shocking hobby" and "Loudboxer" I'm not sure what they've been up to lately, but Oscar Mullero and Christian Wuensch might have some 12" you could get into... (Gosh, just the thought of Wuensch's 2002 dance floor incinerator Master Avalanche gives me the goosebumps ) I always mention it 'cause I like it a lot, but a good album that is probably in your style is Brother's Yard- Reaction (1999) (PV), and I guess it wouldn't do you any harm to check out some other releases from that amazing techno label! Check out Petar Dundov's quintissential 2003 "Kaskades EP" and/or "Waking up the ancestors EP" from the previous year. Keep in mind that Music Man Records has more or less covered all aspects of techno music, and the deeper you dig, the more goodies you could find Tresor Records might be a lil' too banging and harsh for what you want, but still... It is, after all, Tresor!!! Try out Mark Broom's album "Angie is a shoplifter", although I'd recommend seeing him live rather than listening to his releases at home. He has one too many 12" to remember, and I cannot guarantee the quality of 'em all, but chose randomly and you might pick a winner. I know that during the last 2-3 years an entire legion of Swedish DJs and producers went the minimal direction, but still left enough of that hard, relentless energy to make it recognisible swedish techno. Give it a try, I know it took the dance floors by storm down here. Last but not least, your criteria made me remember the very unfortunate and underrated producer/DJ, Frank Biazzi. Most of his releases should just perfectly suit you, if that is what you asked for, and if my understanding stands right. And hell, if Turbulence did not make the local party crowd in your city jump all over the walls, you missed out on A LOT!
