    Vir Unis

guess who'll be posting in that topic ;0 about Vir Unis: I haven't really got into his beatless work. I think I tried the Drift Inside but I couldn't really connect with the music (yet). His rhythmic stuff is variable, best stuff are his collaborations. I think Body Electric is very cool too, especially track 1. Also check out 'Pulse 'N Atmo'.
  2. So, did anyone enjoy or is it suxx0r ?
  3. OK, I'm not exactly up to date on psytrance in all it forms (understatement). I checked this one out and I'm pretty impressed. I noticed the sound has become more commercial, dare I say "clubby"... but what sets this apart from similar non-psy/regular club music are superior production values and the detailed FX and rhythm. Damn it sounds sooo fat and overwhelming! It has great effect when listening for the first time... but the mechanic and predictable structures of the music will probably make me lose interest after some time. But that's the nature of this music I guess.
  4. A short mix and a sort of experiment to mix different styles of electronic music. I posted it some weeks ago in another thread and I noticed it's still on megaupload... only a few downloads yet, so why not give it another try: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2B4D5EPO (53MB / 38:05) Tracklist : 1. Steve Roach - Arrival 2. Mike Andrews - Above the Stars 3. Pete Namlook - Je Suis Triste et Seul Ici 4. Vidna Obmana - The Ominous Dwelling 5. Michael Stearns - Dimensional Shift 6. Paul Ellis - Shining 7. Laughing Buddha - Karma 8. MFG - Process Irreversible (The Passenger remix) 9. Redshift - Mania (this one is a bit too much timestretched :0) Just enjoy and tell me what you think =D
  5. Crop Circles - Full Mental Jackpot Remix damn, great melodies! =D
  6. Tim Blake - Passage Sur La Cite De La Revelation nice old skool synth psychedelia
  7. Rachmaninov - Piano Concerto No 2 part 2
  8. On Land and The Plateaux of Mirror, it's f*cking beautiful!
  9. Tangerine Dream - Rubycon I will never ever get tired of it. Words cannot describe its greatness.
  10. Some of those tracks are very weak and pretentious (the sky was pink, outhouse and some more) but that's just my opinion. They sound like crap... they try to be innovative/original by using cheap sounds but fail at it... there's a total lack of energy in those tunes. I really don't get what so special about it.
  11. See Steve Roach topic for those two. Try 'Jonn Serrie - And the stars go with you' for some really relaxing, warm, melodic space ambient...perfect for sleeping.
  12. Peter Baumann and Christopher Franke are former members of Tangerine Dream. Together with Edgar Froese they made the classics like Phaedra and Rubycon in the 1970s. Apparently they also did some solo music later... I think Franke did the music for the sci-fi series Bablyon 5... I wouldn't know if their stuff is any good.
  13. Paul Ellis - Shining man this track is so GREAT I love the buildup and sequences SPAM: it's also in my short EM/ambient/psy mix http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2B4D5EPO check it out and tell me what you think!
  14. Juno Reactor are unique, but you know 'm :0 Ulrich Schnauss maybe.. really a style of his own. These labels are probably nice for experimental ambient (can't recommend much, have to check it out myself): www.atmoworks.com www.databloem.com And some EM classics are still unique... for example <- Klaus Schulze - X ...totally unique, but not exactly 'easy listening'
  15. yeah that was easy because a lot of my favorite music comes from that period and those artists good luck!
  16. Vangelis Brian Eno Klaus Schulze Tangerine Dream Edgar Froese (tangerine dream main man) Michael Hoenig Ash Ra Tempel (Manuel Göttsching) Tomita Kitaro Early Michael Stearns, Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Jonn Serrie
  17. Mylo vs Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Pressure (dirty club mix) LSG - Netherworld (Jules Verne remix) Sister Bliss - Sister Sister (Nalin & Kane remix) Humate - Love Stimulation (Paul van Dyk lovemix) Accadia - Into the Dawn (James Holden remix) Prodigy - No Good (CJ Bolland museum mix) Future Sound of London - Papua New Guinea (Hybrid Remix) War of the Worlds - Eve of the War (Tilt Mix) Infusion - Legacy (Junkie XL Remix)
  18. Mystery of the Yeti Part 1 - A Welcome To All Extraterrestrials GOD I LOVE THIS TRACK
  19. Shpongle - Star shpongled banner they actually used a part of this track for a TV show "Paradise Hotel" (something like the "The Villa" or "Big Brother")
  20. His latest two releases (next to the Dreamtime Return remaster) are probably also interesting. Especially Possible Planet which was made exclusively on a modular system. at the top of this page is a recent interview with Roach http://mysite.verizon.net/res7m910/interviews.html
  21. Juno Reactor & Hans Zimmer for a soundtrack Prodigy & Fluke ?
  22. huh I think he meant making a mix of several ambient tracks, not mixing one track
  23. beatless ambient is hard to mix I guess... you'll have to search for "neutral" sounding parts (where there are no actual notes, so only FX, rhythm etc.) to fade one into the next... some parts could go in tune with each other but that doesn't happen often... you could pitch shift to match them (while keeping the same tempo or not, doesn't matter much if it's beatless does it?) just experiment a bit to see what sounds together... not that I'm experienced at this... check out my second mix: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2B4D5EPO
