  11. Many reasons ..... have you ever read Faust? No? You should! Many consider Mephistopheles to be the Devil himself but he is not. It's quite a misunderstood character, trapped in his own hell as we all are. Actually he tries to warn Faust for the consequence of his selling of his soul to the Devil for knowledge. He is just the collector of souls already damned....and in the end, aren't we all damned ...? According to Christian mysticism he was the first to join with Lucifer during the rebellion against God at the beginning of time. When the rebel angels were banished from Heaven, Mephistopheles was the second to fall, after Lucifer. In exchange for his loyalty Lucifer granted him power in Hell appointing him his second-in-command. Lucifer, bringer of knowledge forbidden to mankind .... The name Mephistopheles can also be a combination of three Greek words: "me" as a negation, "phos" meaning light, and "philis" meaning loving, making it mean "not-light-loving", possibly parodying the Latin "Lucifer" or "light-bearer". Since I am a night person myself, this connection is obvious.... .... If the above sound silly to you, you can also consider Mephistopheles to be the Master of lies ..... so in anyway an ambivalent persona .... ;-) hehe.....
  12. Some should read their Sitchin better ....
  13. 34 and counting ....no comment!
  14. Unfortunately only for those who speak "Dutch" .....
  15. I used to be a "heavy metal" fan as well ... but first of all, let me state that I do not consider Iron Maiden or Manowar or Judas Priest as Heavy Metal but as Hard Rock .... Also, I know a lot of "heavy metal" fans who can enjoy goa .... why that is, I do not know .... is it because they are both "extreme" music? Nice to read some fine groups in the lists stated above Personnaly I still like: Biohazard Pantera My Dying Bride ==> Turn loose the swans!!!! Opeth ("I am counting noctunal hours, drowned visions of haunted sleep" .....) Life of agony Metallica (up to the "black album) Agaloth Type O Negative Of course there's also always AC/DC ...... Don't know about any similarities between goa and metal though .... but I do know I like the emotion and poetry in most songs of Opeth and My Dying Bride ....
  16. On topic ..... if this type of music plays on our "shamanic dimension of the brain", maybe that's the reason ad-boys use it in commercials, but for whole different reasons .....
  17. +1 ..... Anyway, what I meant by "Germans do love Germans" was the term "chauvanistic" ... a term that I, as a Belgian, am not familiar with .... ;-) don't take it to seriously .... (look at our history and you know what I mean)
  18. Don't quite understand what so commercial about "People can fly" either?! .... If you mean by commercial a lot of people like it ..... ?? And what do you mean by "much more genuine"?
  19. I don't fully agree on that, I think the album "One love" really stood the test of time better than his successor "Stardiver", for instance (but I'm biassed because it's one of my favourite trax) "Out of time" still sounds as it was meant to be: deeply melancholic, raw and hypnotic! Actually, I never really got into "Stardiver", sure it has its moments but still ..... ....and maybe, just maybe, Radi is Boris ....... and if not, there's still the fact that Germans do love Germans ..... ;-) (no offence )
  20. Ancient shamans probably used some sort of music (among other things) to induce a state of trance just like listeners to goa trance can, that's what I mean with tapping into the shamanic dimensions of the mind. Maybe you can call it some sort of hypnotism. Surely, as frequent listeners of Goa, some will have had thsi experience (I wonder) .... I am not saying Goa is the only form of music that can achieve this but it is my belief it is one of the strongest "vessels" to achieve this state ..... it just takes you furhter and beyond (if you're open for it) ....
