  1. Maybe mixing too sometimes. Maybe everything else is perfect, regarding the mastering, but my main concern here is the loudness. Play MR series along with another old school album (let's say, Xenomorph - Cassandra's Nightmare). Can you hear the difference? Which one do you prefer (Not in terms of musicality ofc)? I prefer Xenomorph.
  2. Thanks for the suggestions. But HEAVILY compressed music doesn't sound fine to me, no matter how good balance there is between frequencies or whatever. I just got tired of having an ear assault when I want to enjoy the music I love. By the way I remember listening to Globular - Magnitudes of Order a few months ago and it was unbearable... In many cases where Colin Bennun has done the mastering, it is too loud IMO. I just bought Mind Rewind 1 & 3, just listened to MR3, it's a bit too loud. One more example, Cronomi releases pre and post 2012...
  3. As I didn't really understand what that means, I looked for some info online and I watched this video. I don't know if it's 100% accurate, but it helped me put things into perspective. Anyone can tell that most modern releases sound louder than the ones from the nineties. As I usually like listening to albums in one go, I noticed that I OFTEN have a feeling of ear fatigue after listening to a modern album, but LESS OFTEN after listening to an oldschool album. So, I have these two questions: 1) Which modern goa trance albums have a good enough dynamic range, in your opinion? Can you give some suggestions? 2) To label owners & producers: Don't you believe that sound quality is a very important thing to consider? I believe that one reason many still prefer the oldschool goa is because they can't stand the loudness in a lot of new music. (Right?) After all, good music will still sound good in high volumes, but overcompressed will not. What do you think? Suggestions/opinions? P.S.: To make it clear: I'm not saying that all modern music sounds bad and that all 90s music sounds good, but, on the whole, there is an obvious difference.

Well said Richpa. For some, something like 4/5 is very very good, while for some others it's just ok. Numbers don't say anything, giving a description (even a short one) is much more valuable.
  5. ^ Yep, I hate spammers!!
  6. Tastes are tastes, but calling it a true masterpiece is an overstatement. I was disappointed. I found it bland. Also, the lack of variety among the tracks and the relentless fast beat bored me.
  7. Pretty good album, I was pleasantly surprised. So far, Godspeed & Rubix stand out for me but there aren't any bad tracks. I only don't like Three, after a few listens that repetitive melody gets on my nerves
  8. Added a poll with two questions.
  9. Chi-A.D. - Earth Crossing Amakusa Records Tracklist 1 Hammerhead 9:40 2 Black Light 8:02 3 Zero Barrier 9:11 4 X-Isle 9:52 5 Transparent Sea 9:34 6 Book Of Eden 9:25 7 Liquid Neon Sky 11:47 8 Blue Effect 11:13 Very good album throughout, that was finally brought to light thanks to Amakusa Records. Beautiful melodies and captivating atmospheres are the strong points of this album. One thing I don’t like in much of Chi-A.D.’s music is the excessive use of voice samples, which are fortunately nonexistent here. The melodies… ethereal, heavenly, elevating, I really like them, they’re just my cup of tea. Not your typical eastern melodies. I personally like melodic goa but I don’t really dig it when the eastern element is too prevalent. This album is hypnotic, dreamy, quite floaty without many twists, turns, or huge climaxes. That might be the downside in a couple of tracks, as they don’t seem to build up towards anywhere. But the music flows nicely, is well thought and trippy in a more “relaxing” way, with the melodies guiding you to otherworldly places. So, don’t expect full power goa that will make you stomp the ground. Favourites: Book of Eden, Liquid Neon Sky and X-Isle, but there is something to like in all tracks I think. Kudos to Amakusa for releasing another gem! 3/3 so far, I’m curious what will be next… Buy: https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?master_id=84610&ev=mb Or contact directly at: amakusa604@gmail.com
  10. Sounds good! If I remember correctly this was supposed to be a double CD, with a downtempo side. Or is it going to be released separately? Anoebis, can you shed some light?
  11. Beautiful... I'm so happy that there is a festival like this, even though I haven't been able to attend yet.
  12. What about the CD version? Is it a jewel case or digipack? Can someone post a picture?
  13. https://www.discogs.com/Chi-AD-Earth-Crossing/release/8896306 I don't know how to upload pictures from my computer
  14. How many albums do you listen every day? Seriously! I had also listened to some of these albums 2-3 years ago and I remember I kind of digged this style. An important factor for me is that the bpm are not very high. But yeah the whole genre seemed a bit too homogeneous to me and that's why I didn't keep listening. Maybe I'll listen some more tonight.

Are you honestly saying that ALL Suntrip releases are 5/5? I'm sure there are some you like more than others. When it comes to one's own releases, the judgement can't be nothing but biased. It's just how it is.

Yeah guys I also think you should stop rating your own releases. It raises the score for about 0.01-0.03 points and holds you in contempt by some.

    USA

I imagine his last two accounts got banned because of spamming and/or flooding the threads by going too much OT. It seems to me that it is something he can't control. I also thought of what Starkraver proposed, it might be a good solution I just realised: We are on the USA topic, which is very disturbing! I'm out of here, and I'm going to completely ignore this user. I'd suggest you guys do the same, unless you want to read more disturbing things.
  18. BlackStarrFinale - Consequences from V/A Goa Overdose 2 is good.
  19. Yes, I do not listen to those genres actively and yes, goa can be very simple. Also, I didn't comment on the complexity of goa and house, but more on some tracks that can be really memorable. But I insist that some (or very few, if you prefer) goa tracks can be the result of inspiration and/or are unique/easily recognisable. As I said, I don't listen to minimal or house actively, but it seems to me that you need skills & practice to produce good music of these genres, but that's all. I haven't noticed much novelty or unique melodies that will give identity to a track and make it stand out of the crowd. If you tell me you know more unique/memorable/easily recognisable tracks in house/minimal than goa trance maybe I should start listening to those genres. I doubt though.

    Prana - Cyclone

I listened to the Prana albums recently and I also prefer this over Geomantik, where the remixed tracks are not as good as the original ones imo (apart from the GNOTR rmx). I agree, all tracks are good here, very good/creative/unique album. Most of the tracks had been previously released in 1994/1995, so this album sounds older than its contemporaries I guess. Anyway, good music is good music. Today it's all about production, crystal clear sound, overcompression, "suitable for the dance floor at the festival" and so on. F*ck that, I want good music above all!
  21. Ofc it's goa trance and yes it's awesome. Ok, you asked for it, now you'll probably get dozens of recommendations. I'd say: Artha - Influencing Dreams Crossing Mind - The Inner Shift Proxeeus - At The Mountains Of Madness Alienapia - Goapocalipsis Some great tracks on compilations here and there as well. There are not so many labels anyway...
  22. I meant to quote this: Next goa track is Goasia's skylander, which sounds so oldschool, it's too oldschool for me. Don't know if the track is from the 90's or recent, but the lack of a solid bassline makes me skip it. There was no Goasia in the 90's. Best tracks for me are Zopmanika and Arronax. A few more tracks are ok, but on the whole a forgettable compilation. Most tracks lack inspiration imo. Anyway, thanks for the effort and the free release, as always.

    China

I've been in China for a few months now, and damn, they like spitting on the street. But it's the opposite, young people usually have better manners. It's the older ones (I'd say 40+) that have bad manners - spitting, littering, not queuing up, honking, smoking while walking etc. Even women (40+) spit on the street (creating that disgusting sound deep from their throat ). Really annoying.
