Musicians who you wished released a full length album?
Kitrinos replied to exotic's topic in General Psytrance
And I thought you will release the Lapsus album -
It is nice, slow ambient trance, very deep and floaty. Some tracks are more interesting than others and I keep enjoying them after multiple listens. But this music can be boring, as the tracks are very floaty and don't have much progression. This album is good for background music but it can also be an enjoyable listen if you're on the right mindset. I think Veda and Svarog's Morning are my favourites.

- Off topic: Well said HappyHorse. I agree that the other label owners should be more receptive to criticism. There are CDs that I like and dislike from all labels. Suntrip is great and it's the label I have bought the most CDs from. But guys don't say that people are afraid to write positive comments, I don't buy that. Just accept the criticism and move on. And for the love of God, please don't review your own CDs, especially a couple of days after the release date. It's really lame. (Mainly referring to Mars and the review of RA - Earthcall). I believe this kind of attitude might attract ill-natured criticism and even trolling. Just my opinion- As for the album, I have only heard the samples and I won't listen anything more until I buy it in the next few months. Crossing Mind is great and I don't want to spoil my ears, this will be a blind buy

Predator is by far my favourite. A masterpiece. I only don't really like Transcendent and Expand Consciousness. The rest are good.

Groovy, I like it. Thank you JaraLuca and Neogoa!

It's been on repeat a lot lately, still a bit hard to listen the whole album in one go, but all the tracks are good. My favourite might be No Way Wrong. This album is a psychedelic bliss.

Relax guys, not everyone buys the albums on the first month (me) and I personally give the albums several listens and let them sink for some time...

Terminal Fantasy and Lunatic Transfer are probably my favourites

Very nice album indeed.

I think it was the only artist goa trance album that was released in 2007. Correct me if I am wrong.
-
Totally agree. Deviant Electronics - Catacomb is on the light side. It's just too long and the first half is quite boring...

I disagree. This album did bring something new on the table. Their sound was very fresh and unique. I haven't heard anything that resembles Goasia. It is full of energy and very danceable. IMO by far their best album. Favourites: Space Travellers, Octagon & Sunrise, but I like almost all tracks.

I disagree. I believe much of oldschool goa sounds good even in a bad sound system, because the dynamics are preserved. Something like new Filteria, as you said, might sound bad in high volumes on a shitty sound system because all the layers and the melodies are too loud, screaming for attention, and "swallowing" the bass. So, I'd blame the production/mixing and/or mastering in this case, not the shitty speakers. And I think that's a problem in a lot of modern goa trance: the layers, melodies, sound effects etc. are often too loud, and there is where the magic is lost. Some sounds should be in the foreground and some should be in the background. Compressing and making everything louder only harms the music. But I unfortunately feel I belong to a minority on this

Thank you for the post Richpa. I agree. For example, from your label, I feel that Veasna & Dragon Twins have a more balanced sound than BSF or LSD. Can you give me some more suggestions?
-
I'll give another example: Case 1: Listen to Darshan - Awakening and Xenomorph - Cassandra's Nightmare back to back in relatively high volume. Case 2: The next/another day, listen to MR3, both CDs, back to back (at the same volume with case 1). How do you feel after these two listening sessions? In case 1, I felt ok/normal. In case 2 (today), I feel ear fatigue and I have a slight headache, because the music just felt too loud and I got tired. I don't think it's because of the mixing.
-
Maybe mixing too sometimes. Maybe everything else is perfect, regarding the mastering, but my main concern here is the loudness. Play MR series along with another old school album (let's say, Xenomorph - Cassandra's Nightmare). Can you hear the difference? Which one do you prefer (Not in terms of musicality ofc)? I prefer Xenomorph.
-
Thanks for the suggestions. But HEAVILY compressed music doesn't sound fine to me, no matter how good balance there is between frequencies or whatever. I just got tired of having an ear assault when I want to enjoy the music I love. By the way I remember listening to Globular - Magnitudes of Order a few months ago and it was unbearable... In many cases where Colin Bennun has done the mastering, it is too loud IMO. I just bought Mind Rewind 1 & 3, just listened to MR3, it's a bit too loud. One more example, Cronomi releases pre and post 2012...

As I didn't really understand what that means, I looked for some info online and I watched this video. I don't know if it's 100% accurate, but it helped me put things into perspective. Anyone can tell that most modern releases sound louder than the ones from the nineties. As I usually like listening to albums in one go, I noticed that I OFTEN have a feeling of ear fatigue after listening to a modern album, but LESS OFTEN after listening to an oldschool album. So, I have these two questions: 1) Which modern goa trance albums have a good enough dynamic range, in your opinion? Can you give some suggestions? 2) To label owners & producers: Don't you believe that sound quality is a very important thing to consider? I believe that one reason many still prefer the oldschool goa is because they can't stand the loudness in a lot of new music. (Right?) After all, good music will still sound good in high volumes, but overcompressed will not. What do you think? Suggestions/opinions? P.S.: To make it clear: I'm not saying that all modern music sounds bad and that all 90s music sounds good, but, on the whole, there is an obvious difference.

Well said Richpa. For some, something like 4/5 is very very good, while for some others it's just ok. Numbers don't say anything, giving a description (even a short one) is much more valuable.

Tastes are tastes, but calling it a true masterpiece is an overstatement. I was disappointed. I found it bland. Also, the lack of variety among the tracks and the relentless fast beat bored me.
