  1. hey lets close some lubu threads everybody! are you guys positive you're not overreacting?... not talking about the jon cocco thread btw. im sure that people have said the same things lubu said about goa, plenty of times, but they didnt see their threads closed or their comments deleted or whatever. so my question is, if it was anyone else instead of lubu... would we see (typical for lubu) dissing comments (bullying against members is frowned upon no? even if they can stand up for themselves..) and would it get locked? in the end, the guy expressed an opinion. he thinks producers are pathetic, stupid, untalented or whatever. but he did not call them naughty names and he provided more reasoning for his opinions than what is the norm.. im sure if it was anyone else (maybe except radi) people would reply on the subject. maybe tell lubu his opinion is worth shit. or even......... give reasons why it is shit. tatsu you locked it and said enough! of what? i say enough to stupid dissing comments. whats wrong with you people..?
  2. ^looks like an arcade game box from thew 80s n/p
  3. i played one aavepyora album (sorry dont remember which one) to some friends on a road trip once... ..and they went berserk. big smiles in the car they couldnt believe how "simple and fun" the music was... all of them loved it and they werent even into goa / trance.. probably the "casiest" music they had ever heard at that point.. okay enough ass-kissing.. will listen to this after work, thanks taika kim
  4. well, hallucinogen must be the best/cleverest name for me. sounds nice, very related to the goa scene (back then at least) what other name fits this music better?
  5. whoa.. forgot about this album i have heard it many years ago.. cant say i remember much of it, just that it was really great and i couldnt find it anywhere to buy it. did you find a hard copy? if yes, where? as for recommendations.. as i said i dont remember much about numinous island but you're bound to find some more stuff you like if you look into psy-harmonics record (that is if you havent already..) a brilliant (beatless) ambient album is ollie olsen's emptiness on this label. but it might be different. perhaps mantaray was more trancey. anyways, nice find
  6. they re really good.. i wonder if/when they're playing a "gig"..? the remix album is my favorite btw, very recommended. i also have to thank nick t.t. for that e. too late! "Presentation of the new album "Krataia Asterope" live in Thessaloniki Mylos Xylourgeio Saturday 5th of May 07 and in Athens Friday 11th of May 07 in Underworld club "
  7. seen koxbox a few times maybe 4-5 times including samothraki frank e set at least another 5 agree that some times were worse than others, but overall you can expect quality it really sucked the last time i had the chance to hear a franke set. he just played a track and left the stage. i think there was some problem with the sound or similar..
  8. yup.. also agree on cbl.. in fact there are several albums from this side of chill that will be remembered
  9. i've written on another thread i really loved it and saw this could become a future classic. now that some time has passed and a few more listens later... i must take back some of that praise. its a very good album.. just the fact that the guys are producing this kind of sound (and not something like y.b.1) is making me smile, for my own reasons. although i ve listened to this at least 15 times i havent taken the time to really focus on individual tracks. which doesnt mean its forgetable, rather the whole thing is very listenable.. at least for me.. i love the general mood (and could i not like it since its inspired by dsotm, etc musical moods that i adore?) what will be very interesting is seing y b live somewhere.. in a greek mag interview they said they wouldnt say no if someone asked them to play over here.. lets see the 2 "live rehearsals" and some footage from a british gig on youtube are nice.. the live is surely not the best event you'll see, but must be worth it, at least.. charlie i m surprised you dont like it.. i mean sure compared to hallucinogen for example this will have less impact on our lives, etc but its not directly comparable to the guys' previous works.. i liked it because its nice (not superb) and different, not because its as good or better than some other album from simon or benji..
  10. this album makes me sad. only 11 tracks should go on forever!
  11. i didnt like the first one much either.. this one's different and better
  12. i think they're striking in protest of their previous strike going by largely unnoticed. seriously... the album is real nice for a change. there are many sounds we've heard before in posford and younger brother works, there is certainly a high degree of influence by pink floyd and ozric tentacles (it sounds like this to me at least) and the whole thing also reminds a little of shpongle 1. so, is this good or bad? i like to think good. i'm no posford whore (not by a long shot) but we all know about his love for pink floyd since the dsotm remixes. its not "copying". its genuine and sounds solid, again at least to me. the whole album is psychedelic with very nice atmosphere, which is only interrupted by more fluffy sounds few times in the album. all in all im very much happily surprised by this one and waiting patiently to see if there is going to be more work in this vein, i somehow feel this album was just meant to be and fits in perfectly to an empty slot around classic albums. (and i was afraid to say this last bit here..) time will tell if this is indeed so...
  13. well its not chill out ambient music to make you sleep.. but its not exactly something that makes me wanna dance or jump around.. and yea those vocals are strange.. but nice..

  15. nice topic, all tracks already mentioned are amazing.. too bad my brain isnt really working at the moment. would royksopp - so easy (and what else is there) fit in the list?
  16. really glad about your rebirth.. might listen to this album waiting for same results btw, is it ten twins, or tent wins, or nothing, or something else?
  17. one can only hope
  18. i've met quite a few. not because i like stalking artists or anything, but mainly through helping my mate who's into organising parties for some years now.. so mr towelie i am not giving you an autograph as all these are chance acquaintances... one of the weird encounters was ubar tmar. i say weird because i dont speak japanese and he doesnt speak very good english. i was helping out the organisers and spent lots of time with him, drove for a day-excursion, etc easily one of the most simple, fun, but dedicated people i've ever met in general! will never forget a live set he played "in private" and the methodology he makes his music with (mathematics i dont comprehend) an unexpected encounter was james reipas. i did not expect to meet him but as i was a permanent helper back then, i became a tourist guide for him and his girlfriend. it was summer so we went for a swim and later to visit the acropolis.. fun people both of them, it was a pleasure.. i felt just like hanging out with friends.. texas faggot... LOL. met both but spent more time with pasi. even stayed at my place when i was staying in london for a few days. anyways what can i say.. both are very down to earth and fun loving people, always ready to crack a joke. i think ive seen pasi at least 3 times now and hes the same happy guy every time. in a way the music is a mirror to the soul (!?) in a good way!! frank e.. had a quick chat at glade (joined our chillum company because of a common friend). its not correct to say i was impressed by him being down to earth (since everybody should be like this, no matter if they're famous or whatever) but the guy was really cool and simple. considering he had better things to do for sure and that we have some age difference as well i was surprised when he casually started asking me questions like what do you study?, etc.. nam shub of enki (phil).. met him twice.. from being chilled at a couch to putting up posters in athens.. phil is a pleasure to be around.. feels like you know him already, nice australian humour! i think ill meet him again at some point.. metropol.. mario from spain making experimental and ambient music.. first met him in madrid during a festival (decibelio). he and his girlfriend gave me and my mate free food they got in the artists hang-out. need to say more? very good simple folks. been nice to see them in athens as well and have a chance to chill together all the artists i've met were really cool. like your friends in "the scene" who just happen to be writing the soundtrack.. nothing more, nothing less..
  19. i dont think there s anyone here who'd want that.. where's the shiva nazi category? ohm or om or aum is latin/english. i think its spelled the way fluffy posted and "we" just type what seems close to the syllable sound.

Bon Anniversaire Mars! loved your post, as long as the spirit is alive and strong you will never get old..
  21. i like everything from them, some more some less... thanks for some outstanding moments that will not be forgotten!
  22. i dont live in the same apartment so i dont hear many opinions.. mostly they dont like psy but are okay with ambient/dub/type of stuff.. but i remember about 3 years ago my dad bought me a new amp as a gift (i had already "borrowed" his old 70s speakers - which really kick ass btw). we were testing volume levels and at some point just left sandman flight or fight on repeat at full volume. he liked it a lot which is very weird considering his tastes (italian 60-70s, old-ish latin..) the only band we both like is gypsy kings :clapping: another tune he liked was a trip hop jazzy very smooth and mellow masterpiece on some dream injection compilation.. we've listened to a lot of dream injection together during road trips! edit: to the father's credit, even though he is into more "fluffy" music, he did own a dark side of the moon copy in vinyl (which is now skewed from sunlight exposure unfortunately..) i'm 100% sure that if this vinyl was not in his collection i would have grown up listening to what most kids were listening at school back then. thank god for dsotm : )
