  1. well sound quality is not an issue really. you could be able to download the "exact same" track as on a cd, same quality, etc.. well the music i play from my computer is "tangible". i can really hear it and appreciate it. just like the sound coming out from my cd player. its not like you touch a cd and you perceive its sound is the sound coming from a live act less so than the one coming from a dj set? not trying to provoke any silly argument here.. hope its clear edit: not saying more, nemo you covered everything i wanted to say 100%
  2. downloads. only if its cheaper.. imho a full d/led album should be less than 10 euros (if each track goes for 1 euro, there should be a small 1 or 2 euro discount)
  3. afaik, you can get a card for online buys from your bank without it being a "real" credit card. i.e. a card that you "charge" with money at your local branch and use to transfer this money to suntrip/other label. dont take this in the wrong way: do you have a problem against those of us who like to buy your products online? i dont get it.. (look at what gnome also said, i quote it below) hardly.. maybe you have not realised all (physical) record shops are closing down one after the other?? come on people, are you oblivious to what is happenning? even in london there is no proper psy-shop anymore. only one i know of is dmt and last time i was there it was reduced to a stall, not a shop, that sold some cd's left over unsold from the old days. their main trade is t-shirts, etc ! exactly. it seems people think we're advocating the death of the cd. but all we are actually supporting is for labels/artists to go with the flow of things and have the digital option available.... (i admit there is a new problem here.. if you have both ways of selling, it will be hard to print lets say 300 cds, because the price will be even hgher) as for downloading being more expensive than buying... not always true.. i want music. and i want it now. i'm not that happy with ordering stuff online and waiting for it to arrive. (and sometimes get lost or broken) the other day i got the new koxbox for 15 euros from a physical shop. (which is 20km from where i live actually.)
  4. colin you and your mates must be the exception... really! last time i met someone who exclusively listens to vinyls and cd's was someone whose home stereo is made of "lamps" and is worth 10,000 euros.. not your average psytrance enthusiast. even a mate who used to own a psy label (before realising that he cant afford to lose ALL his money) and owns a LOT of vinyls and cds, is predominantly using his laptop to play music, since its easy to find what you're looking for at any moment personally, i really think the future is with online sales (i've opened at least one topic in this before). cds are more expensive and plain wasteful. we all like the artwork, but why not have the option to get it for cheaper, already encoded in high quality format, etc, etc i consider myself to be lucky enough to have enough money to spend on the "pursuit of happines". but if i were to buy everything i wanted (from releases) i would end up bankrupt. it doesnt make sense to spend lets say 100 euros a month on music. soooo, i end up not buying anything! (okay, almost anything) conclusion: labels and artists need to realise that psytrancers are exactly the way gnome describes them (for the most part). we are too laCy to go to the record shop and since all want to have a huge collection, we cant afford/dont want to spend all our money on music.
  5. ermm not re-reading the whole thread. but snowball, or anyone else for that matter, have you seen the god is god video clip? its quite nice (and random)... so i though i should mention it. Link - youtube

  7. i'd like to see some goa track playing while some hippies smoke a chillum with strangers no, not really. some things are better kept off the mainstream media, ya?
  8. OT: rezwalker did you notice you have 604 posts?
  9. not sure if there has been a thread about this before.. check it out, via youtube: there are more episodes. this user, mukojima, seems to have lots... SO.. anyone knows what this is about? it says its based on a novel by jr. togo google doesnt know him! there are two hints for further info, incablok.inc and laserboy.tv. they exist as websites (incablok.com) but have no info i could find. i would really LOVE to know why and by whom these videos where made.. maybe find them in better quality? and of course, if such a novel exists i would love to know where i can buy it. hope its not circulated in photocopies in goa though

    Koxbox - U-Turn

okay i've listened through the album twice now... it is not breathtaking or super-innovative. but its certainly good! really good.. maybe it'll even grow better with time.. fullon? well it didnt have any of those irritating elements that make me "hate" fullon. so i dont know what you're talking about! edit: btw, if frank released something very similar to older works there would still be some to criticise him (i think) for being stuck up and rehashing old ideas and styles, or whatever. if you try to be as objective as can be, you'll see this album for what its actually worth? i.e. not revolutionary, but not generic crap either!

  13. still havent entirely listened through my copy of the new koxbox...
  14. if you want hi-tech music then try idm, etc.(not similar to infected) In case you haven't done so yet and what you admire in goa-psy is the technological aspect and "how can people make music that is sooo weird" you'll be glad to discover idm, breakbeats, experimental electronic music, bla, bla....... start by digging into warp records, is my advice ; )
  15. i have definetely heard something like ambient or psychill a few times. "trendy" and "chilled out" bars tend to have oriental and ethnic soundtracks (mostly very commercial compilations though) so there is a chance you will hear something good
  16. 140bpm and religious/philosophical symbolism is not so un-connected as you might think at first glance. its all about "trance". and mankind (well not all of it) has been in trance, or has participated in trance inducing events and rituals, since forever. given our technology and lifestyles, in what we consider the modern age, goa-trance is the modern equivalent of people gathered in a circle dancing to the beat of a drum. then the beat was close to the heart rate, now this music is geared towards more "aggressive" dancing. surely the drugs have played their part too. and they have played their part in the spiritual "connection" too. goa in origin was popular amongst hippie-type of people. the majority of whom (imo) have experienced the benefits of psychedelic plants (or entheogens). in turn, a lot of them reached into spirituality. fan circles are frequently discussing spiritual matters and you will notice that the ratio of people who read "spiritual books" is very higher within this scene than outside it. (especially compared to lets say the house scene, this is very true even today)
