  1. I too prefer things like Shulman, Entheogenic, Blutech.. And don't forget Androcell. Maybe even Peaking Goddess Collective, very under rated. I think if you are after more psybient stuff rather than chill stuff u will dig those. That's the problem with Ultimae stuff for me, it is a bit too chill a bit too little psychedelic. Enjoy!
  2. Surprises hey... Well when u anticipate a lot of releases so much and listen previews etc its hard to be truly surprised for me hehe. Still though: Blackstarrfinale album Auryn was one of my most surprising. In the way that it was/is the best crossover or blend of goa/psy album i heard this year. Didn't expect that. Also as someone mentioned Spacey Koala discovery thanks to Kinematic for bringing him to my attention a while ago. Promising stuff. Lastly, surprised myself by opening up to and appreciating Sensients new album Way of The Sloth, where as before I would never listen to or couldn't get into that genre. Really good album imo.
  3. ^^ Agreed heh.. Also, and a huge part of it for me is, gangster dubstep is totally and utterly disorienting if you are tripping at a party... To suddenly hear something like that is just... abrasive lol. Not in the way of dark psy abrasive but in a rather annoying, non trip conducive way. It just feels to me that it doesn't belong at that kind of space. I remember the first time I heard it at a party in Australia and i just found it all so funny. The "hecticness" of it... the gangster samples etc... just.. eww. Eventually i think we found it funny though. *Also agree though there is such thing as good dubstep.... The stuff that actually has Dub in it. Which is almost gone now and was already about 5 years ago anyway..
  4. It is quite disgusting yupppp... :/ Thankfully not very prevalent and most people have realised it won't fly with a trance crowd. As for your fluffy melodic parties, London has a lot if them if prog is your thing.
  5. Haha I enjoyed this review and yupp how many times have ppl got to be told to actualllly change the fking track a bit! Unless its the artist remixing his own track and I like them, remixed tracks these days get ignored by me :/
  6. Filteria - Lights of Shibuya In fact all of the album of course, I'm really impressed with the separation I'm hearing and everything is in just its right space in the mix.
  7. The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on.
  8. Yuppp It is a weird human thing to do I think but mostly we all do it in some way heh. Mmm Talpa, goes in my "Unique" bin somewhere similar to Procs even. Hehe so maybe that's what we r looking for
  9. Quite nice samples and I think I prefer it to Pathfinder style. Can't quite tell yet until I can hear where the tracks "go". All the best with this release!
  10. I actually can't heh, :/ because my brain just instantly categorises everything into a sub genre lol... I know it's not correct but the slightest hint of full on bassline and it goes in that slot, galloping basslines go in the prog bin etc.. Like I said I know it's not right and kind of wish I could find stuff I don't classify as anything!
  11. I'm sorry but is most of the stuff posted here not just "barely" softer full on?
  12. Goasia's newer stuff after their 2nd album is somehow worse than their older stuff. :/ Not sure what went wrong with them there. Also they are on equal level with other 2nd tier artists to my ears.
  13. Reality Pixie - perhaps not unknown but maybe for this forum. Really good Australian morning full on with a touch of forest. Quality stuff.
  14. Some really nice replies here, Richpa and Joske some great points of course! I didn't expect everyone to agree and it is probably that, for me, Filteria's style has been my favourite for quite some time and if you didn't dig it before you might not grasp the intricacies of the evolution that has happened here. Of course there are variations and sub genres within the genre but, overall, discarding all that, is just how I feel. Others may be "masters" of their niche sure, but for me nothing comes close to these essence of goa trance that Jannis has managed to capture and develop over time. Radi, I was trying not to compare specific artists and I don't want to as their are a lotttttt of neogoa artists I love, just not on the same level for me. I'm glad you like e mantra though and hope you enjoy his new album.
  15. Awesome and epic post Mars. Thanks for the insight into the journey of some of the tracks.. I think part of what I love about Filteria has been the journey and literally hearing someone grow musically with each album. Must have been quite cool to be so close to that along the way! As Richpa said somewhere else, the way Jannis has taken the bits that were great from the past and built on them while adding more experimentation is just great to see. On a side note, I can only imagine how many other remix versions of these tracks he has laying around! Can't wait to possibly hear in the future! Also, I think I prefer the old Dog Days Bliss on soundcloud even if the halves don't match heh.
  16. To my ears, that is.. Specially after Lost In The Wild. The gap between Filteria production and musicality wise to every other neo goa artist is just simply massive.. I mean no disrespect by that, and if you know me you know I love a lot of neo goa, but frankly if I'm being honest this last album has just increased his point of difference tenfold. The sheer polish and detail displayed I have found almost overwhelming given almost a hundred listens now.. No other goa artist of recent times has captured this kind of attention from me.. It seems there is a clear and distinct Tier One (Jannis) and Tier 2 and 3 level artists.. (Everyone else) heh.. Again I mean no disrespect, it's just me being honest. What say you guys and why might it be like this? Obviously Jannis is talented, perhaps he is just a freak of nature and even more talented than we first thought?
  17. I am going to Suntrip party from London. Would be cool to meet some others there.
  18. Sometimes an album comes along that marks the peak of an artists musical maturity, a coallescing of their production skills and musical talent where everything just clicks so perfectly, as if by magic. For Filteria, I believe this is that album. Lost in The Wild is Filterias first full length album since 2009's neo goa classic Daze of Our Lives. While that album is still incredible in my eyes, this latest release expands on all the ideas heard there in the most intricate of ways. Part of this, is that since 2006 Filterias sound has grown tremendously, while still retaining that defining Filteria magic. Where once he would assault your ears with melody upon melody, this album tones that back slightly in favour of cleaner production and a far better storytelling aspect. Don't take that the wrong way though, this is still maximal, melodic, Suntrip goa trance to the core, the likes of which not many others have produced in recent years. Every track on the album has its own perfect place, and each is perfect in its own way. There are a few highlights for me though. Starting with Filteroid the album opens subtly almost teasing of the things to come. Snarling acid lines scream along in the background just waiting to unleash the full roar of overdriven vintage analog synth power. I like the way it teases the listener for an opening track. Dog Days Bliss marks a more acidified version of Filteria, a screeching psychedelic number that is set to become a classic. Life Never Sleeps is the highlight of the whole album, and that is saying a lot, as there are some incredible tracks on here. Slightly darker in tone and picking up the pace a bit more, this is one of the tracks which shows utter mastery of his art. Building climax upon climax Filteria perfectly blends acid drenched sonic assault with melodic madness that adds up to one powerful journey. This track is going to set dancefloors alight across Europe next summer. The whole album is akin to blasting off in a 1950s looking future retro spaceship, strapped in for dear life, and you simply cannot keep the smile off your face. Overall this is the jewel in the Filteria crown, a magnum opus achievement of hard work and a wonderful gift to fans of goa trance the world over. Highly recommended to all discerning lovers of goa or psychedelic music in general. 9/10 *Taken from my review for Dreamland magazine Jannis, well done again and I look forward to experiencing this live in soon enough!
  19. I think people are just thinking through their responses in order to reply properly. Is it length or girth you are impressed by? They don't look so high?
