  1. Dan Simmons - The Fifth Heart So far a bit puzzling, but it'll probably sort itself out in the end.
  2. I have had absolutely no idea what they were saying, but it wasn't penis Until now
  3. stuff like this seriously get me all in an OCD fit... suddenly that's the only thing I can hear when listening to the tracks, and I can't make it go back. every time I hear that etnica track I'm gonna hear freakin' penis now... dammit
  4. Actually I did PM him the link, but I don't know if DP is very seldom here as I never received an answer. I hope that link still works though.
  5. https://www.mixcloud.com/Mergi/out-of-the-loop-psy-trance-neo-goa-cd-mix/ Finally got around to uploading my competition mix from https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/70621-out-of-the-loop-orchestra-on-interstatefmcom-276-2015-2000-0100/?p=1053046 I'll try to get the tracklist done soon
  6. Aha, I misread your response Rotwang. I maybe was slightly too quick to make that assumption... my knowledge of music production is very limited.
  7. I really really have to adapt to my new lifestyle (working full time). I'm still buying records and books in the same pace but I've got considerable less time to sit back relax and immerse. Just now trying to read some, guilty pleasure, Star Trek books to get them out of the way for some of the more interesting ones I've got from Paolo Bacigalupi Dan Simmons Neal Stephenson Katzuaki Takano Tony Gonzales. Tony Daniel - Savage Trade (TOS)
  8. Hello! To celebrate the conclusion of the first and second out of the loop competition it is now time to make a stream with one track from each CD (20 in total) on interstatefm.com ( http://interstatefm.com/index.php?title=2015-06-27_%2820:00-01:00%29_Mergi_And_His_Out_Of_The_Loop_Orchestra). Here is the links to the topics on psynews, https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/68872-out-of-the-loop-need-to-get-back-into-it/?p=1042053 https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/70366-out-of-the-loop-need-to-get-back-into-it-part-2/?p=1052712 The stream is set to 20:00 (timezone CEST) running to 01:00 (yes! there'll be 2 and half hours of competition tracks and a second half freestyle Goa/Psy mixin'!). I know you can tune through VLC & winamp, also in FF if you copy a few files from the site. The stream will be recorded (only sound). The stream, on the other hand, is an audio webcam stream. Well met! M/
  9. Essentially all sounds are sampled. I think very few producers create their own sound from scratch (I only know of Richard Devine who is a "sound designer"). A friend at the university I went to created his music in MatLab of all things. Even playing an acoustic instrument is copying because you haven't built it, you haven't tuned it. You are playing on something that someone else created. I see someone mentioned prodigy and I couldn't help but remember a video...
  10. The live stream (sound & visual) is set to 27/6 (20:00-01:00, timezone CEST) at www.interstatefm.com
  11. Actually I liked most of them. I - V are all pretty damn good, VI - IX is where things start to falter a bit but there is redeeming moments and qualities throughout most of them, X was really really not my style though.
  12. 13. Unfortunately I'm not quite the best at reviewing. I mainly do them for myself, to help me melt the impressions I get from the CD I'm listening to. OK... let's see what we can see... we have one winner actually but it was close between artifact303 and cybered, had acid box delivered through to the end of the CD I'd have two winners.
  14. Artist: Ephedra Release: Journey Through My Head Year: 2014 Label: Goa Madness Records Cat-#: GMRECCD002 Rating: 4/5 Tracklist: 1) We Are Not Alone In The Universe 2) Beyond Spaces 3) Crispy Biscuits 4) Souls In Trance 5) The Walk Of The Little Green Man 6) Little Molecules 7) Experiments 8) Bubblized 9) Smiling Sun (2013 Edit) This album certainly got all the stuff you'd ever want from a Goa CD. Expansive synth leads soaring melodies and screeching acid layers. Solid album this one indeed. I prefered the tracks in middle as they had these really nifty flowing basslines, but the rest of the tracks are indeed really good as well.
  15. Artist: Psysex Release: Mind Penetration Year: 2014 Label: Hadra Records Cat-#: HADCD42 Rating: 3.5/5.0 Tracklist: 1) Mind Penetration (Intro) 2) Kuobo Lover 3) Igor Resources 4) Awake 5) Old School Renegade 6) Cosmic Perspective 7) Automatic Bom Barrier 8) Free Fluoro 9) Visible Light (Invisible Bud Mix) The first few tracks are really slow and hard to relate to, the album gets going way too late. I really do not understand what the purpose was for this move. On the other hand, once it gets going at track 5 it's going alright. It flows and grooves, they seem to start enjoying the production resulting in the sound getting vibrant and full of life. Unfortunately it is a bit too late to bring this album back into the limelight.

    Cybered - Acid Box

Artist: Cybered Release: Acid Box Year: 2014 Label: Horns & Hoofs Entertainment Cat-#: HHCD009 Rating: 4/5 Tracklist: 1) Acid Box 2) I'm Bad 3) Nobody 4) Wild Tuba 5) Stalwart 6) Analog ID 7) Micron Slutterz 8) Quite-K - Vasya Exhale (Cybered Remix) 9) Kraken (Featuring Chumahod) 10) Blunder (Featuring Elder Stuff) I haven't heard this kind of atmospheric contemplative technotrance since MidiMiliz - Passages album on boshke beats. It just swiftly rolls over you and takes you on a journey. Really nice to hear this kind of stuff 15 years later. Of course I have the soundmute CDs, but they come off as really hard techno CDs compared to the more progressive psychedelic techno style from Acid Box. It's dark sinister but adventurous and with detective rustin cole going on one of his epic deprecating rants about humanity in Nobody the tone is set. This might not be everyones cup of tea but I seriously like these deeper tracks that do not necessarily bombard you with epic synth leads or "nutty" out of place effects.
  17. Artist: Artifact303 Release: Back To Space Year: 2011 Label: Suntrip Records Cat-#: SUNCD22 Rating: 4.5/5.0 Tracklist: 1) Magnetic Fields 2) Trancemission 3) They Will Communicate 4) For A Better World 5) Tropical Sunset 6) Mysterious Fantasy 7) Beyond Lightspeed 8) Close Encounter 9) Delirium Epic. Grande. Soundscapes that certainly propels you back into space. I'm probably not the first to glean the AP hommage on this album (I see I guessed correctly), the Astral sound is everywhere and They Will Communicate is simply Nilaya in disguise. But it is really really well done this stuff. Every sound is at the right place, no odd "nutty" effect out of place or piping in at the completely wrong moment. Just a solid well thought out album that takes you on a really grande ride.
  18. Artist: Maiia303 Release: Sky In Diamonds Year: 2014 Label: Ovnimoon Records Cat-#: OVNICD093 Rating: 3.5/5.0 Tracklist: 1) Sunday Morning 2) Duality 3) Sky In Diamonds 4) Moonlight Pixies 5) Go Ask Yourself (vs Cybered) 6) Universe 7) Atman 8) Neverland 9) Glory A well produced album, though unfortunately a bit short. I've checked up on the earlier work and it seems the Maiia moniker is for her ethno-ambient stuff and Maiia303 is for the more dancefloor oriented stuff. It is rather unusual for this kind of music to incorporate acoustic elements but as that is the background from which the producer came it leans on a bit of traditional instruments and the odd bits of cultural ethno elements. Of course it has been done to great effect by particularly some of the more trancey Shpongle tracks for example (Tales of the Inexpressible and crystal skulls tracks), something this album is very reminicent of. Unfortunately this is yet again an example where someone boxes themself in and seem to play by the book. Short dancefloor snippets with ethno tribal elements throughout, of course there is nothing particularly bad about the album but I get the feeling that something is holding Maiia back in this case. I don't see why she wouldn't be able to do a nifty 10+ minute live studio jam recording... the tasty ingredients for my ears are there!
  19. Artist: Various Release: Ten Spins Around The Sun Year: 2014 Label: Suntrip Records Cat-#: SUNCD32 Rating: 4/5 Well... hmmm... I like this. It flows nicely and there is certainly no fillers on here in my opinion. I liked the remix CD the most but everything is of very high standard all around. The ambient CD contains one very epic Solar Fields track and the main problem with this is that, while still good stuff, it casts a pretty long shadow over the rest of the tracks on the CD. Otherwise I guess this is most certainly, along with Erta Alé, a consistent and well produced compilation with its sights set for comprehension of the current state of trance. A very good starting point if you have been out of the loop for awhile.
  20. DAT 8 NN 3 Psy track is Tarsis Endless Rising https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5OqfH8igmo Indeed Kris Kylven the DAT 7 NN 8 Goa track is Element Over Nature - The Age Of Cyberspace (Machinery Mix) http://www.discogs.com/Element-Over-Nature-Cyber-Reality-EP/master/89526

  22. hahaha! lovely track DAT 4 Unknown Psy Track 9 is Vibrasphere - Crystal I included it in my 4 hour vinyl mix ... it's epic early vibra acid goa on psychic deli
  23. uuh, yes... right. some are indeed correct but a few records does have problems originally with their tracklisting. Particularly at 15 and 30. I have no idea what 21 is... but I surely will go "yes! right! of course!" when I figure it out.
