  1. I dig what I dig and thats all that I dig. If I like it I like it, if I don't I don't, what genre or producer it came from doesn't enter into my considerations.
  2. :clapping: Someone please forward this to Chis and Ale! and at: PWND. Reason FTW. On topic: I've not heard anything to complain about so far from 07, but I did notice a lot of dodgy looking releases, thankfully I never felt the urge to inspect further... No complaints from me, but if I'd taken the time, I'm sure I'd have plenty....
  3. Korg microKONTROL Wanted it over other, cheaper ones because of its 16-button pad that's very handy with certain programs. And I got it as a gift. No complaints other than the first one they sent was broken en-route, and it took a hell of a long time to replace... (Musician's Friend FTL) Oh and the keys are really small...
  4. Mudpeople-The Scientist my track I just wrote today.
  5. Depends... Sometimes I get an idea for the melody first, sometimes its the rhythm, sometimes bass... Sometimes its a sample from a movie that a song kinda crystallizes around... Sometimes its just some SFX, or an atmosphere, or... I think you get the idea. More often than not, though, what I do is start out with a percussion pattern and a basic bassline, adding a melody and some acid lines, then changing around the bass to fit the melody or percussion. Then a bit of initial mastering (EQing, panning), and then I pound out the rest of the track. Then more mastering... Tweaking effects, sweeping filters, automating volume envelopes, tweaking sample filter envelopes, send-track EQing... And so on til eventually a track is born. So basically there's no one 'right' way to start out a track, start where it feels natural and go from there.
  6. OMG! Antic, Phobe, my Renoise brothers! Ive been stuck with Renoise since late 2004... Love it love it love it... Ever evolving... Its great to see others getting into it too! Its the bridge between the old days of Scream and Impulse (first proggy I used, ahh that golden DOS-display of wonder...) and modern production with all the bells, whistles, 32bit float sound and ASIO support. Did I mention I love Renoise?
  7. Speakers are only necessary to share what you're mixing, I've spent most of my mixing career doing it in headphones. Of course, I don't know if your mixer has the monitor switches that mine does (Pioneer DJM-300)... Ive got computer speakers that I use sometimes as monitors when I can, but due to home situation, loud repetitive music isn't always a go... I'm totally used to headphones, though, I've got a decent pair of Ultrasone DJ-1's, nice because they're very light, seem durable, and sound just fine... (Previous, I used a Sony MDR-V700, which IMO was no good, heavy, metal over-ear headphones SUCK. IMO. Spend a few hours in them and feel the ear-pain...)
  8. I changed mine a while back to that Metallica lyric. Metallica's not really a group I listen to much anymore, but when I was young and naive it was great, and that song has a lot of meaning tied to experiences from way-back-when for me, so... there ya go. The track's name is 'Wherever I May Roam' from the Black Album.
  9. damn good collection here! Plays like a radio station... A really awesome radio station. Thanks a lot! B)

  11. weird, it used to be an easy DL... be back w/ sendspace link...
  12. Some great looking stuff... Definitely gonna be getting more than a few of those recs here in a bit... Thanks everyone, keep em coming as well!
  13. When I was about 14 I saw some old Eat Static, Juno Reactor and maybe some Astral Projection videos on an old MTV show, Amp. But the first release I ever bought was Eat Static-Abduction, when I was 16 (which sadly was destroyed in the ensuing years). So I guess, 14? But I was about 22 when I REALLY started to get into it, when my collection became material to play out rather than just enjoy at home, and then the 2 Pioneers entered my life...
  14. Here's a couple of my tracks, in that style I can't think of a name for... Its not dark, its not fluffy, it could work well for day or night... Hell, lets just call it psychedelic trance. How's that? I'm very happy with the sounds Ive been making lately, these tracks are a couple of the best, too. Some more mastering, maybe, but all in all the structures are sound. I enjoy them, so at least, if no one else does, I got that. If you can't love your own work, how can you expect anyone else to? Both tracks are compressed to a 33mb zip. http://www.sendspace.com/file/394s6y Please feel free to let me know what you think, especially if you think theres any issues. Produced with Renoise Tracker, various free VSTi's, and a Korg microKONTROL midi controller.

  18. ...or something... This is a mix I made of my own personal productions, just to share what I've been working on the past year. Most of these tracks aren't quite finished, just thought I'd let you all in on what's been falling out of my head lately. So keep an open mind when listening, and don't be too critical of my mastering... http://www.psystream.net/forum/local_links...id=3&page=1 1. Endoscopic 2. The Dr's Strange Day 3. Ghost Dance 4. Juniper and Sage 5. Lateral Thinking 6. Otherside 7. Trance Dance Evolution 8. Any Way all tracks written and produced by me. Happy Everyday!
  19. If you like Penta, check out pretty much any Auraquake release, you'll likely hear some stuff to love. Also, try: Quasar-One Day Mubali-Cats @ Play any Shamanfilms VA VA-Dark Steps of the Mind (Moonsun Recs) (strange name, but great tracks) VA-Neverending Story 2 (Zaikadelic) (Track 2, Imaginary Sight v Atriohm, is great, also check trk 1 for Penta wierdity) Guinea Pigs-Not Tested on Animals VA-Kill Fucking Bill (Deja Vu) (Yeah, another strange name but a hell of a release, though it may be out of print...) Abnormal Project-Rules of Ohm VA- Generator Operator Destroyer (Temple Twister) VA-Acid Mutants (Discovalley) (Some classics on here, such as Parasense-Iron Punk ) VA-Peace for the Wicked (OSOM/Tantrumm) (Maybe some too fast tracks, but there's some good work here) VA-Tempus Viator (Tantrumm) VA-Royal Straight Flush (Mighty Quinn) (Trk 2-Darkshire v Detonator v Aeneon= and aMAZING track) Kemic-Al- the Dark Journal (Butterfly) (Not so penta-ish, but a hell of a well done release) VA-Dark Side of Goa (Discovalley) that sould be a good start. Happy digging!
  20. I'd agree that 'twilight' accurately describes the borderline style between the 2. To me, twilight fullon can work well at any time of the evening, especially at an indoor or club, where the 'dark' style won't be so appropriate... But it also works well during the daytime... So its really relative, all up to whoever, wherever. It really is kind of a gray area, sometimes its pretty melodic and slow, sometimes purely psychedelic... IMO it doesn't really matter what its called, what really matters is how it fits into the overall flow of styles at the party, if you play Twisted System right after a Polaris track it may seem a little too different to flow well. What I've always been curious to know, is what would you call the style of artists like NRS, Scorb and similar artists? It could be dark if played alongside dark, it could be twilight when played with twilight...
  21. Ive met a few.... Met Quasar and Mubali at Goa GIl's birthday in 06. Nice dudes.
  22. Man, I really love techtrance... All the Zenon releases, and the Horns and Hoofs releases, are MUST. BUYS. for anyone who likes the stuff! Nuclear Ramjet came out with an album... Sometime in the recent past... Was it this year? I forget.. Their free EP on Basilisk's site is great, as well. Bigwigs have been talking about a new album, don't know if its been released or still to-be, but those guys are totally NUTS. Damn, all this talk about techtrance makes me eager to buy a shitload of Zenon and Horns and Hoofs stuff... Can't get enough...
  23. Hey Meghan! Great mix! Gonna have to be getting some more chill in the near future...
  24. Link expired... I found a great site that has no time limits or anything, and even includes a stream link as well as DL: http://www.psystream.net Tons of my mixes are there (as Mudpeople). They're sorely lacking in downtempo stuff! ;)
