  1. Thanks for all the recommendation! I wasn't able to listen to it all yet tho.
  2. Just to make that clear: I don't think this forum is dead. I just explained why I personally don't post here often. I also didn't use words like sick, I just said why I don't feel like participating in lots of threads. If you think that I should not Interpret Radi's comment as negative as I did, which is a valuable point, then you could also give me the benefit of the doubt and not Interpret my comment as negative as possible. But you are right, let's get back to Topic... Do you guys know lots of female DJs who just toy arround a bit with the Equipment because they boyfriend (or whoever) does? I luckily don't but I do get the impression that lots of girls just follow their boyfriend or their friends and do what's trendy.
  3. According to Beatport at least the first track is labeled as Progressive House. Maybe there is a more concise name for a subgenre around if you a part of that scene?
  4. I personally think it's awesome if a DJ plays a set that makes him dance his own ass off too. That's also adding some of your personality to it. Sure, maybe the crowd has a different taste but I personaly like to see that a DJ really digs the musig he plays and is having fun during his gig.
  5. It really depends... My personal once in a livetime experience was Crossing Mind Live about a year ago. His music really blew me away but I have to say I don't remember what he was doing on stage (if he was doing anything special besides making music). I also couldn't care less since my head was nearly imploding because of his great music. After him there was Cosmosis live and whatever you think about his music (I personally dig it a lot) now that guy's a showman. I agree that having a certain charsima and being a person who hogs the spotlight really helps a live gig. But even like that I was still more touched and blown away by Crossing Mind than Cosmosis. Simply because the music was over the top. It's a bit similar with DJs. Imho the important part of adding your personality to your set is not the acting on stage (even if you can give something of you to your audience with it) but your track selection. Sure you can play the top 40 tunes and some well known dancefloor bombs and do the monkey dance on stage but imho a good DJ is able to somewhat read the audience and give them something special (with creating a certain mood or whatever). Even when he or she is not doing much more than just the mixing.
  6. I for myself can say that I don't hear the difference between high-quality MP3s and WAV-files. Both are used for DJing and both sound (imho) equal on a club soundsystem. But there is a huge difference allready between MP3s with 320 or with 256 kBit/s, that's for sure.
  7. Because of Jaia and Crossing Mind I had to vote for France too..
  8. Yeah might be, but it seems you didn't get a better attitude because of that either. Maybe we can go back on topic right now?
  9. That Kalumet track has a rather unique sound, which is really nice. It's still not really my cup of tea... Maybe I should have added that I'm a bit on the cheesy side of things.
  10. Questioning if I really listenend to goa after all just because I pointed out I have other priorities right now is offensive to me. Asking in German or English does not make a difference. But that's not what this thread is about to so we can leave it here.
  11. Well, if you write stuff like " I am wondering if she ever listened really to goa trance" then I wonder what other point you could want to make besides being offensive.
  12. Dear radi, actually I was never exclusively listening to goa (or psy, or prog or whatever subgenre you have). And who says I don't enjoy it anymore just because I think it's boring to talk about the same old artists again and again? Funny enough I would bet my next monthly salary that even nowadays I spend more money on psy/goa/prog albums than you do, even when my main focus is in another genre. It's not your fault I have more money so that comment might be unfair. On the other hand all I ever get from you is your big mouth but rarely any other input into the scene. You made some goa tracks a while ago but that's about it, the rest is posting in forums. Kinda strange considering you love goa oh so much...
  13. I'm not digging through the new releases weekly but hen I do lots of stuff sounds rather similar. The same beats, the same kinds of effects... Still, there are pearls that I rate as psychedelic and trippy. What pearls have you lately discovered (does not have to be new and it also doesn't matter if it's prog, psy or whatever) that are trippy and psychedelic? I'm looking for stuff like that. Talpa - The Path Terrafractyl - Electronic Evolution Or my latest discovery and my absolute favourite from the last few months (if you can recommend me similar stuff I'm gonna kiss your a... feet!): Delirious Noon - Launch for Langtus http://www.goastore.ch/delirious-noon-launch-for-langtus.html
  14. Maybe not something new but at least something. If you have fun with it that's cool, I also don't want to put the forum down or anything. It's just that my interests have changed a bit. I personally would rather talk about prog/tech-house/techno tracks I can use for my next dj-set instead of talking about the best Etnica tracks again. But when I think about it I might need some psy recommendations so stay tuned...
  15. Yeah franki, I tend to see it a bit similar and I'm also old fashioned. But lately I discovered beatport and I have to say downloadable tracks have their advantages. You don't have to buy a whole album just to ge get the one decent track, you can put all the music you need on two ubs-sticks and just carry them arround in your pocket (especially nice for DJing), plus there are shitloads of tracks to buy that don't get released on CD or vinyl (ok, depending on the styles you are in). I still prefere CDs over downloads but on the other hand I rather play interesting music from my sticks than boring music from CDs so...
  16. I'm not saying that the discussions themselves are boring (or the forum, or the people). I just don't care to discuss the same things over and over again: best track this, best album that, (non)commercial artists this, festivals that, goa this, prog that... I still like to go to parties once in a while and I still buy albums (less than before, I try to stick to the gems) but I for myself fail to see what I could add to that forum that hasn't been said at least once during the last years.
  17. I don't know of underaged prostitutes are the crowd I want to see at psyparties...
  18. Lots of stuff going on in RL... I'm reading along here (more or less...) but I'm a bit bored with all the same discussions about psy so I don't have much to add.
  19. Unfortunately I have to agree with this. I'm not going to psy doofs as frequently as I used to but how I perceive it there is a rather big ratio of female party goers. Obviously I can't judge if they are only there for the drugs, to belong to a specific group, because of their boyfriends or really for the love of psy. But what I do judge (from a subjective point of view, including that I'm much older than most of them) is that I have the Impression they just follow the flow. They wear rather similar clothes, a rather high percentage have cuts in their arms so there might be some kind of borderline thing going. I also have the general Impression psy got rather trendy lately... (means I could add some similar stuff about the guys at the parties). I also have to say that I'm a bit suspicious about people in general who define themselves by being part of a scene. Still, there are also other examples. I'm not part of the psy scene but I do have a decent psy collection. I also dj and know several other women who do. Not psytrance or not psytrance anymore but still electronical music. And there are also female psy DJs in Switzerland (I just don't know them in person).
  20. 1. Hierophant - Intergalactic Love Song 2. Seismic Activity - Revelation 3. Veracohr - Taste Of Life 4. Imba - Moon Tribe 5. Psysutra - Solsdead 6. Dense Denso - Root Seeker 7. JetMan - Nephesh 8. Silent Witch - Maestro 9. Phobium - Klavierlektion 10. Radioactive Sandwich - Sound Vibration Technique
  21. Maybe you wanna try the E-Clip album? It's not new but it's fast, melodic and with a driving bassline.
  22. I've read a lot of books by Simone de Beauvoir lately, also three parts of her biography. I like how she uses the language and her observations and thoughts about politics and society are very interesting. Now I started to re-read the Wheel of Time series. The German edition contains more than 30 books, the last two or three willbe published next year (or later, the last part in English will be published in January 2013). So far I'm at book number 5 and I have to say this is such an awesome story.
  23. It's not only like that with rap. Of course there you have the mone and bitches mixed with the gangsta-thing but also lyrics from other genres go into a similar direction: money, fame, sex.. In the end it all boils done to either you care for a certain style and like to dig out the gems (there's still political and intelligent rap around if you go beyond MTV and the likes) or you can go with the thrashy commercial stuff (or not listen to it at all).
  24. It's even more funny that today lots of people actullay talk about rock in the 90ies as cream of the crop because of artists like Sepultura, original Guns'n'Roses, Offspring, Faith No More, Soundgarden, Four Non Blondes, Pearl Jam and lots of other commercial succesfull artists. I went through puperty with that music and for my personal taste it was indeed a good period of rock.
  25. Yes, actually that´s sad. In my town there is one real cd-store and a shop for used cds and vinyls. Then you have those mixed chains where you can buy books, games, cds and various other things. As far as I can tell there are no more shops for dj-vinyls. On the other hand I enjoy to have the choice between shitloads of online stores. It's not like going to a real store but at least I can get whatever I want....
