  1. Well, unique does not have to be revolutionary or new by definition. Just special, as in one-of-a-kind. Obviously they use psy/goa sounds, like (nearly) all artists do who are making that kind of music. If you don't like their style, there's nothing wrong with that. But asking for a logical explanation why you have to like it just doesn't work when talking about taste imho. People perceive music differently and look for different things in music.
  2. I can only speak for myself. Classical Mushrooms was one of the first albums I bought, that's true. I was going to parties, starting to really like the music and some songs really hit me. One was Dracul the others were from the Waves Of Sound album from Yahel. So I bought those album after somebody was able to tell me what songs I heard. Soon afterwards I registered here, started to post and started to buy vinyls and cds because of the reviews found here. The rest is history. I agree about Ormion's view of IM's uniqueness. It is still there for me in their newer stuff. But in the end, if you don't like them, pointing out stuff like that won't change it. Taste is taste.
  3. Now that comes unexpected. Astral Projection are one of the few oldtimers I never gotten into. They have some nice tracks in general their music is pretty meaningless to me. Maybe I should give them another try tho.
  4. I don't think you're stubborn or ignorant. It's how you see it and I don't think you are able to change that, nor should you try to do it. It's just taste imho. I'm also able to enjoy differnt music in different situations. But to me that has nothing to do with the Classical Mushroom album. This piece of music is simply mindblowing for me. It always was but obviously tripping enhanced it. But also this is only taste.
  5. Fact? I don't think so. To me Classical Mushroom is one of the most amazing and psychedelic pieces of music ever written. Which is not a fact either of course, but pure personal taste. And even if it's not taste but fact, that still doesn't change my point of view about the album. I have to say I also like their newer stuff (haven't heard the last album tho). It has a special and unique sound to me but of course it is far away from what it used to be.
  6. ORLY? So you're basically trolling the forum with your various posts about everything and nothing?
  7. Actually here if you see an advertisement for a job there is stuff written like 100% or 80% or whatever figure it is. Working 100% equals 42 hours per week and everybody knows what it means. But it seems to be a regional thing then since it does not translate well into English. Sorry for that confusion. So to me working full-time and attending classes for some extra hours equals working over 100% regarding the hours.
  8. There are some similarities as far as I can judge from a video. Obviously not all parties are the same here but if you go to a bigger event (well, you can read on the announcement of the parties what they offer exactly) there is a big chance for a laser show, normaly there is more decoration than shown on the video but often there are screens like the one shown with visuals. The people might be different in the sense that the audience is more mixed than on the video. Depending on the party there might be stuff like the fire show but by far not at all parties. There parties here are (from my point of view) less "clean". Means there are more alternative people around, which is a big plus for me. But it's a matter of taste obviously. But there is one big difference: some of the girls shown in the video looks like animation dancers. Here you won't hardly find one (I remember one party announcement that talked about dancers) at psy parties. It's common with house and other similar parties but not psy. And I'm damn glad about that. From my point of view half naked females dancing absolutely don't fit psy. Not because of the music but to me I fail to see what they are good for. I also don't think it would fit the scene (as it is here I mean). It has a kinda sexistic approach to me anyway. Besides that I'm glad psy parties here are not testosterone driven in a way that you can dance and just have fun without having a guy on your back any other minute (as it might happen if you go to a regular party). And with on my back I don't mean some nice talking but being importunate and dancing on you when you don't want it and clearly say it for example. But in the end it's a matter of taste too of course.
  9. The definiton of what is 100% in working hours is made up by my employer, not by me. But you can say I believe in it obviously. Same as you believe in some made up reality-tunnel you use to define who is doing what because of which reasons and intentions. And which also allows you to make statements about my work without actually knowing anything about it. And yes, I have time to replay. Same as I have time to replay to all emails at the moment. As you said, it is all about setting priorities, means other stuff has to step back (I'm not talking about stuff that has to step back so I can post here but making a general statement). But that's pretty off-topic. If you wanna talk about reality or work we should maybe switch to off-topic before we ruin the thread even more.
  10. If you con't the working hours I acutally do. And no, I don't think I'm important because of that. I just need to money to pay my debts. And how do you know I'm emotional? I was just describing and making an example. I mean you claim me (and a whole bunch of other people) to be delusional and emotional while you claim you know how my life (or anybody else's life) is just judging from one sentence or some posts. And you even know how I can solve my problem? Sounds kinda arrogant to me and I also feel like you are thinking inside a box with judging people instead of at least trying to see it from different points if view. Which is kinda rude to me. Same as not replaying to e-mails of course. And yes, I'm working on it.
  11. I don't want to be rude but the stuff you wrote sounds similar to the views of some other people (in this forum or other places) or pretty similar to some other stuff you wrote about the scene. So I obviously failed to identify it as joke. Or do you mean the first post you wrote after my comment? Actually that was written in a funny way. I just wonder if your comment about going to an underground party again is a joke too or if you really judge the scene without going out to see it? Care to enlighten me?
  12. I really start to wonder about how psy is in other countries. What you describe has absolutely nothing in common with parties here (or maybe with non-psy parties, especially after-hours in a dark hole). Sure you can be unlucky and hit a party with stupid people (especially indoors) but most of the times it's family vibes, smiling people, everybody taking care of eachother, a good mix of males and females and the music is great too if you care to decide where to go after reading the line-up.
  13. I don't know but psy seems to be very popular, for men and women. I mean here the crowd is pretty mixed at parties. Obvioulsy more women artists would be nice but you can say that for nearly any musical style since it doesn't matter if you look at snobbish house parties or underground dubstep (or whatever style you wanna name) there are still way less female DJs than male DJs. I think it would take more than a good smelling dancefloor to attracte girls to start DJing. Especially considering that if you enter a party at 10 in the morning (after it was going on for hours allready) there's a nearly 50/50 ratio of males and females on the floor. There is way more going on than Goa Gil DJing and I have the idea that you sort of make the stuff you don't like in the scene (like dreadlook guys ) responsible for the lack of women. Which is maybe an explanation that is too simple to get close to what it really is about.
  14. Well, the question is if you manage the time you have so you can run your business and have time for private stuff (as in setting priorities) or if you manage your time in a way that it only evolves around business stuff so everybody is satisfied. I don't run a business but I work way over 100% since I have ot attend school after work. If some colleagues mail me to help them with their taxes it can happen that I miss to answer some of them when I have exams up or something similar going on. Obviously this sucks. For me this is not about being cool and looking busy but about taking some time for myself that has nothing to do with business, work or school. So I can understand if someboy who runs a label besides a normal job and a regular life misses out on some stuff. Even when a day has 24 hours you have to take care to use your energy for different things in your life.
  15. The music that moved our parent's asses? Woodstock, you know it? I like some of the stuff posted here but I never bought any records (ok, I have the S-Express Theme somewhere). I got into electronic music some years later with german techno and rave. The whole acid movement does look lovely to my eyes, it used to has thiss "fuck, who cars" attitude that goa still has for me. Together with somewhat silly but still cool clothes.
  16. Downloaded some morning stuff from the Ektoplazm website. The Soul Kontakt stuff is pretty awesome, didn't find the time to listen to the rest of the stuff. Also ordered the two Disco Hooligans Cds.
  17. I'm not familiar with the organisation you posted and the site seems to be way out of date. But I can say that the organisations that are doing pill tests in Switzerland (legally allowed from the governement) do a damn great job. Nobody ever encountered any problems with them and they are more attending underground parties and not only big raves. So calling them capitalistit schweinehunds seesm unappropriate for me.
  18. Bought three albums at my local psyshop: Bubble - Coldsun http://www.discogs.com/Bubble-2011-Guy-sarnat-Bubble-Coldsun/release/2749033 Electro Sun - Higher Than Ever http://www.discogs.com/Electro-Sun-Higher-Than-Ever/release/2902448 v/A - Royal Flush Vol. III (Plusquam) http://www.discogs.com/Sunstryk-Royal-Flush-Vol-III/release/2588838

    Dead Space

Considering it is summer and off topic just got started again a month ago I say: yes, that's how it always was. It will get more alive when a bad weahter period appears, don't you worry.
  20. Yeah, I see the difference. I have a particular scene from the woodstock movie in mind now. I don't nkow if you mean the same scene but I'm pretty sure it's at least similar. Deamon you say? Imho he is just tripping out on whatever mixture of drugs (or just one?). Nothing wrong with that as long as he is not bothering (phisicaly I mean) anybody. What is a B.O. (like in your last sentence, I don't know that expression) btw? Just for my understanding (and with no offence meant): why is it you seem to have a problem with hippies? I mean the image I have (my mom used to be one, on Switzerland obviously but still: did a lot of drugs, listened to the music, travelled with a backpack and what not) is absolutely positive about them and their way of life. Obviously it is my perspective and you will for sure have valid arguments for your point of view. I just want to understand. You describe that you were sort of part of the movement because of your dad. I take it you had some bad experiences then? On the other hand you also take drugs and besides the free love part your life drug intake sounds pretty hippie like too (no offense meant with that). I can sort of relate do that. It's pretty bizzare if you try to look at that objectively. On the other hand tobacco and alcohol companys have a huge lobby so obviously there is no way politicans can make them illegal too. And I can imagine they feel the danger of weed being legal and replacing them (especially alcohol, tobacco would maybe even profit from that since nearly nobody smokes weed without tobacco). I've heard about Ruffies (I think the official name is Rohypnol?). Not that much of an item. Here there are mainly used by junkies who are on cold turkey so they get over the symptoms of the turkey. If a date-rape drug is used here, it is mainly GHB. Maybe it is because Switzerland is a rather small (and rich) country but stuff like that does not happen that often. Of course it depends to which clubs/parties you're going. But that's one of the good things here. Even if (or maybe because) we are rather small you have lots of opportunities. Whitin the psy-scene but also in general. I prefere to either go to alternative/smaller parties or to psy events (size doesn't matter), also more commercial events. To me they give still a rather familiar feeling (I'm talking about outdoor, parties in club can be very different). You do have drug abuse and other ugly stuff but imho it is on a balanced level. Musicwise I'm very happy, all psy styles are here so you can choose. I occasionaly work at this alternative gay place and I made lots of friends there. The parties there are awesome too. Not psy but progressive/minimal/techno/elektro like (depends on which DJs they hire) and even when it is no psy it is like a family/tribe gathering. I used to know nobody there but I made friends after some months (I'm pretty shy with people who I don't know so that's quite a thing). I also take drugs and of course that makes it easier since it connects me with the other druggies. But it's not only that, the friendly vibe is there also when being sobber (and not all take drugs or even think it's ok to do so). Crowd there is very mixes (same as it is at the psy parties), one of my mates just turned 50 in december, others are in my age 8around 30) but you also got the 20-somethings. I never was into benzos. They can come handy, to ease a comedown from coke for example. But I don't really do it anymore and for stuff like MDMA or acid I can take the landing without help. Imho the comedown from MDMA is even a good thing. If you want the fun with it you have to pay the price. If you don't wanna pay it, fun is over. So far it's still lots of fun. And for LSD, no comedown at all. Sure, tripping hard can be frightening but I never had a bad trip. Or at least not on a level I thought I would not be able to take it so... The other stuff I take is also bearable without any help to comedown. I'm always curious to try new hallucinogenes and what not. Imho Switzerland has a pretty ok view on drug. Obviously all the stuff besides alcohol and tobacco is illegal. And when we were able to vote about legalising weed the majority voted no since the media and propaganda sceared them. Still, you get a fee for smoking weed but if you don't smoke in front of a cop, nobody notices it. It can be hard to find decent weed for a decent price if you don't know anybody. It's even more easiser to buy coke on the street. Which is kinda absurd and imho an error from the politics. But that's how it goes. There are projects for junkies, giving them out substitute medicaments or heroin and if you face a serious problem (like I did with coke) you can get free counceling. And it's good counceling (ok, depending on the person who you get obviously) that really tries to help you and not stereotyped "drugs are bad" talks. It helped me a lot. So basically I'm happy about living here, especially reading some of the comments about how the scene is going down and what not. Either I don't notice it since my perception is different or then the scene here really is not like the scene elswhere. Where are you from btw? It's nice to talk to you and seeing we have some similar but still different backrounds is cool.
  21. It's hard to say where stuff like that comes from. It might very well be because of the Es he took. But it also depends on how regularly and how much he took. You can use or abuse, same as with alcohol or any other thing, even food. From my personal experiences I can say the following: I'm taking MDMA for more than 10 years now (I'm 32 years old), not every weekend but with breaks inbetween. Sometimes the breaks are longer, some month, sometimes it's only two weeks. Depends on a lot of stuff. I also did various other drugs too. Some even make me feel better the days after (LSD). I do not feel like I have any memory problem. Sure, the day after my brain is a bit slow but that goes away after a good amount of sleep and some food. I work at the same place for 15 years, I switched to a better internal position about a year ago. I started to go back to school (after work that means) and finished the first two years. I passed my exams without problems. I did study a lot but it works. So I think my brain is healthy (not all students passed, non of the others is doing drusg as far as I know, only alcohol). Obviously I do not know how my brain would feel without ever taking any substance. It's just that for me the good sides way overweights the bad sides of the substances I still take. Anyway, I'm not denying the power of yoga and mediation. If it is the right way for you, then go for it! No need to take any substances to evolve yourself, you found a better way. Keep it up and stay true to yourself. But everyone has to follow his own path. If you do read about drugs, have in mind that not all books are written in an objective way (they can be too positive or negative). Lots of long-term effects (and even short-term ones) are not scientificaly proven. Which makes it risky to take drugs but it makes it also easy to scear people.
  22. Just came home from casino, pretty drunk from two glasses of white wine on an empty stomache. And I'm happy too, made a plus of 210 bucks.
  23. I have to work for another 1.5 hours, doing some cleaning, meeting for my diploma thesis, waiting for the guy who wants to see the taxometer of the heating and then it's leasure time.
  24. Imho if you take illegal drugs you mainly harm yourself while you harm others with stealing. Quite a difference imho. Not all drugs coss life btw. If you are talking about coke and the sort of civil war it causes in for example South America you are right. But shrooms for example are illegal to (magic mushrooms obviously, not champignons) and you can pick them yourself. I also see a difference (moraly (as for my moral standarts), not legaly) if you steal from big companys or littel self-made men. Obviously both is illegal but big corps get harmed less. You are obviously free to use any moral standart to make it legit to download mp3s. In the end you can do whatever you want, if it's something illegal (counts for downloading illegal mp3s and taking drugs) you just have to be ready to take the consequences. But you can't expect that those arguments make it any better in my eyes. Obviously I also don't expect anybody to agree about my moral standarts with taking drugs either, but I don't really care for that.
