  1. I have read your coments. Yes the server was hacked. Actually someone managed somehow to get root access and started some bruteforce attacks towards other servers from there. I thought the server was secured, seems it wasn't... The server is in a server farm in Paris. The admins noticed something was wrong and turned it down...abruptly. There was actually no real aim at removing the content, but I thought it was the case at first, as the data drive was unmounted, which made it like some directories had been erased. We're talking here about psynews.org, psysurfeur.com, suntriprecords.com, filteria.com, and a couple of other non-psy sites. Since we decided to reinstall, that's shitloads of data (~45GB) to backup and restore later. I had recent backups of the sites, and the databases, but not psysrfeur's DVDs and videos. So, I have been trying and restoring the sites and the databases in the past days. And I managed to have more or less all back online today only. Who did that? I don't care but we've been thinking about it. Maybe this is absolutely not related to psynews at all. Maybe it is. I don't know yet, I have 1,5GB of logs to analyze with no guarantee of finding out anything. What if there is a relation? Suntrip, Psysurfeur, filteria have no "ennemies". Psynews has always been a place aimed at talking about music in a peaceful manner. The only reason why some people could have a grudge against us is they were banned. Bans happened because of trolling or bullshitting, and 99% of them were in the OffTopic. Just look back at the situation from my point of view: we got hacked in september. The whole forum system itself would deliver tojans to visitors. There had been recent tensions and angers on the OffTopic forum and it was agreed to shut it down for one month to put the pressure down. ...The next day the OffTopic is reopened, BANG, the server gets hacked and much more badly. Once, it can be a coincidence. Twice, I don't think so. I am sure some of you think this happened because the moderators, of what was left from them, were very harsh. I don't agree. The Offtopc could have been a cool place to speak about trends, politics, technology, philosophy, etc...But it had actually turned into a complete spam forum, which needed more control. Thus I trusted the moderators decisions completely. Some also think I had a heavy weight in the decisions. Wrong. I am no longer Psynews admin or even moderator. Since november 2005, I just happend to participate in some decisions, and remained the webmaster. I was the guy owning the name, the software licenses, and taking care of the server and sites and critical situations like this one. But you have to understand my priorities are elsewhere now. Back in 2000, I was a student and I had hours to spend fixing a server. Now I am 31, I have a wife, I have a life, I have a very demanding job, and I am enjoying very much running Suntrip as a second job with Anoebis. All these take a LOT of time aleady. I had planned something else for this week end. And I spent 30 hours fixing a danm server instead. This generates tensions...in REAL LIFE this time. There is something else I won't forgive: We are on the verge of releasing a new CD at Suntrip. We have lost a lot of visitors who were likely to listen/buy the release. That's a shame. As a webmaster and as the Suntrip CEO, I want to be freed from hack risks and downtimes like these. So I requested the definitive shutdown of the OffTopic forums. Yes, it is unfair for the 99.99% of the visitors that actually didn't hack this server. Let me be really clear: contrary to what you may think, I am not "against" the OffTopic. I created it myself years ago! Now I'm having it closed, and it's even kinda sad. There was indeed a project of recruiting moderators specifically for the OffTopic. This is no longer the case. And I might add that non-psytrance stuff, bullshit, or trolls on any forum as strongly discouraged. For more infos/comments, you can always write me here or at mars at psynews dot org Regards, fabien mars
  2. 2-minute samples are posted on our official release page ! http://www.suntriprecords.com/pages/releases/SUNCD11/ Sorry for not posting this page earlier but I was hoping to put our new website online before that (as current pages are static and ask for a lot ofo work)...which didn't happen yet. TBC.
  3. Tastes
  4. That's true that many artists only recognize "production" nowadays. Not the musical content. That's maybe because many off them just can't make music. Maybe I'm being very critic but......maybe not.
  5. Biodegradable and Procs, totally, yes.
  6. Definitely Hux Flux. Or, with full on, CPU's first album.
  7. You can't say you weren't warned. BANNED.
  8. I wonder what you guy would date to say on a similar topic about FullOn. I can clearly recognize respective Goatrance groups styles, but no way I can with 90% of FUllono artists. And I'm quite used to listening to Psytrance as you can guess.

    Artist: OOOD

Reported by Tara / Submitted 10-09-08 01:09.44. Complete interview on: http://www.harderfaster.net/?sid=c39804d01...featureid=11980 After 15 years making music together you could be forgiven for assuming that any band would be content to continue touring their old classics like the Stones or worse, following the Guns & Roses path and taking 10 years to produce anything new of value. Not OOOD. These psy trance pioneers are about to release their new album and have some of their biggest gigs yet to come over the next few months. This weekend they're playing a rare live set at Waveform Festival, then in the days leading up the album launch Rama's at Broken @ the Where?house on Friday 19 September and Colin's playing a DJ set at Roots & BNE presents... TRINITY @ Jacks on Saturday 20 September. It was definitely time HarderFaster hunted them down to the outer limits of the universe where we spoke in deep tongues... OOOD is short for ‘Out Of Our Depth’. How did you come up with the name? Do you OD often? Colin came up with the name at a Pagan party in 1994, when OOOD had only written a couple of tracks together. 14 years on and we’re still out of our depth, but swimming strongly! As for ODing — do we look like the sort of people who take drugs? When did you first meet and start making music together? Please tell us a bit about each of your backgrounds and what inspired you to start treading water as a group. Colin, Nigel and Steve all met each other in Oxford in October 1994, and the group was formed after it became obvious that the music we wrote together was much better than the music we wrote individually or in pairs. Steve and Colin both had experience working in studios and as guitarist and keyboard player respectively, and Nigel was an analog electronics genius and experienced psychedelic synth botherer who had supported Hawkwind at Stonehenge in the ’80s; when we all met Colin had already had his first release on Phantasm so the combination of all our skills was far more than the sum of its parts. When we formed the band, Steve had already known Ramsay for a while, and Ryo joined the gang in 1995 when he moved to Oxford to start his degree, and both of them would hang out in the studio while we wrote. As DJs and musicians they gradually got more involved in the writing process, so it was natural for them to join the band properly when the time came. For a while all five of us performed together as OOOD but Nigel’s involvement got less when we moved the studio to Bristol in 2000. Treading water though? Nah… always moving forward! 10. All Etnica/Pleiadians, Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, Oforia/Tandu, Transwave, Total Eclipse, and all Suntrip releases of course
  11. Afgin always had a special relationship with us He's ben producing awesome tracks in the last 6 months. We had already expressed our concern to Afgin about producing his album in March Oh and we haven't told you everything. There are more albums in store. At least 2. 2009 will be a crazy Suntrip year !!
  12. My preferences: Gold CD...it's really how I always figured how the CD would look like. Always. Regular jewel case (not sure though) Laminated metallic NOT numbered. You'll obviously make more than 300
  13. I have it héhéhé. Very pleasant, and so different that anything else released these days !
  14. More news: http://www.mushlink.com/110814.html More to finally come on our site soon (like next wednesday)
  15. "A couple of weeks" is a bit too strong. That was between last friday morning and saturday morning, and then this week, yesterday, don't know what time. I removed it again, but there is a security issue with ALL Invision Boards enablng malicious SQL injections, and there's nothing I can do at the moment, besides waiting for a patch. And yes, we believed that was time to clean up the place. Like 3 years ago, if some of you remember...
  16. Sorry to write this, but it appears Discogs is no longer what it used to be. Relevance of information is no longer checked, and the site behaves as a wiki where anyonoe can change anything anytime. For instance, we had a bogus dupe Goasia release a couple of weeks ago that we had to ask to get it removed.
  17. I thought it was a good album rocking your ass all the way. Nothing original as it's in the continuity of what they did earlier and with collaborations; BUT an amazing drive in the music !! In other words, they put their style to a maximum level of efficiency. Definitely a goodd album compared to nowaday's standards. @Frozen Dream: we're on the general forum here. Such comments for the sake of increasing your postcount are useless for the community and will get you very shortly a permanent ban. Understood ?
  18. I'll try to answer Antic: tracklsts are not final. Merr0w gave me his trakclist 20 minutes ago, and we're finalizing the compil's tracklst right now. The compilation will be very morning oriented and Merr0w is...full power elecronic carzyness. The compilation will be out around mid october. Merr0w, we are not sure yet. Covers are in the making...For the compilation, we're reworking some http://www.margotschaefer.com painting. I just left photoshop to write this post. As for Merr0w it's still unclear, but the odds are that this guy will make it http://m4de.com We'll have a proper preview soon. As you can see, all is work in progress and many more infos will come veeeery soon (monday?) on http://www.suntriprecords.com
  19. That's not the point, FTP.
  20. Please read this forum's rules. We respect artists, will never support piracy/sharing an dstrongly discourage it. Topic closed. Any other attempt will lead to a ban.
  21. CD and VBR MP3. Wavs are only for things that are close to my heart.
  22. It could be Goa, but I doubt it's mid-90's. The bass sounds much more modern. I have never heard that track though.
  23. Let's get it, and then issue opinions about it. Personally, I'm waiting eagerly for it.
  24. There are actually LOTS of (younger) people (than us) that do not even know Goatrance once existed or is somewhat linked to what they listen to now (FullOn, Prog, Dark...)
